Chapter 29: I Do

A/N: The last chapter 💖

Tears pooled in Tim's eyes as he looked down at Xander, so earnest on one knee in front of him. He opened his mouth but his throat felt constricted with emotion.

"Oh God, Tim, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done it like this. I should have prepared better."

Xander stood and pulled him upright into a hug. Tim burrowed his face against his strong chest, breathing in the calming scent of his woodsy cologne. He felt Xander's hand stroking his back, could vaguely hear the slightly domineering voice of Evelyn, though couldn't hear what she was saying – only had to hope it wasn't to question what the hell Xander was playing at by proposing.

He could finally, carefully, push Xander back and look up into his concerned blue eyes. Finally in control of his emotions. Finally calm enough to say what he'd wanted to say from the start.

"Xander. I love you too."

Xander's face fell even further, worry replaced by sadness as he clearly assumed he was about to get brushed off. Tim chuckled internally as he thought of the change that would come.

"I love you too, and I want to be with you, as completely as is possible, forever, too. Yes, Xander, I will marry you."

As he'd known it would, Xander's face lifted until he looked like he was containing bright summer light. Tim had seen him look a lot of things, including happy, but never so much as in that moment.

When they'd gone back to the hotel suite Evelyn and Ariadne were staying in, Evelyn had immediately started making plans for something that sounded a lot like a huge society wedding.

Xander had blatantly recognized Tim's discomfort and swept him away, with a brief kiss to his mom and sister and a suggestion that they keep the following day clear. An hour later, they were been standing outside the City Clerk's office, license in hand and twenty-four hours to wait.

The afternoon was busy. Fortunately, with Xander's model figure that looked good in literally anything, and Tim's small frame, they were able to get suits from some store where Xander knew the owner – no surprise there then – that fit, if not like a glove, then at least well enough to pass muster for being bespoke.

They spent some time messaging people – and ignoring the over-excited responses for the time being – and then Xander went off to the jewelry store that he'd bought Tim's earrings from, and Tim went to do a little shopping of his own, too, before they went for dinner. It was peaceful, and could have been anticlimactic, except they'd both been thrumming with anticipation.

And then, it was morning. Tim was deposited at Ellis' with a sweet kiss, and Xander went back to their apartment with François, where he'd get ready with his friends, leaving Tim to get ready with Ellis and Dae and Owen.

"Are you wearing anything special under your suit?" Dae asked with a lewd wink, though his jaw dropped when Tim twirled the satin garter he'd picked up the day before.

"I was going to pick some more things up but I didn't really have time," he admitted, pouting.

"I can help you out there," Ellis said, sweeping his wardrobe door open to reveal an entire section of corsets and lacey teddies. He shrugged. "Suzu has a thing for it."

"So does Daddy," Dae grinned, eying the supply lasciviously.

"They're so pretty," Tim said, gently touching the silky fabric of a negligee, "but it might feel kinda weird wearing someone else's. Plus, I don't really know if he likes that. It hasn't come up yet."

Owen shrugged. "Most of them do. I'd be surprised if it wasn't at least a turn on for him. But if you're unsure..."

He opened a drawer in Ellis' bureau and pulled out something cream and silky. Tim took it – boyshorts, he supposed, except actually made for boys, he could see by the shape – holding the soft fabric between his fingers.

"You can have them if you want," Ellis said. "I've not even worn that pair 'cause they came in a set with a red and a black one."

Tim pondered. It could look like fate. Brand new and unworn, but in perfect, virginal cream (he sniggered to himself at the thought). He pulled them up his slim legs with an excited grin. They were slightly too big, but it only made them sit sexily low on his hips, and he admired his reflection in the full mirror, enjoying the feeling of the cool silk on his skin as he pulled the garter on. It matched perfectly. Definitely fate.

"He'll go wild," Dae giggled, before biting his lip and pouting a little.

Ellis sighed, but was smiling as he pulled a red satin thong out of the drawer and passed it over. Dae took it with glee, stripping out of his suit pants and briefs in record time to pull it on.

The rest of the preparations were simple, Owen making sure Tim's pocket square and yellow rose boutonniere were just so, straightening the open collar of his white shirt – because they'd both decided to forego ties – smoothing the lapels on his duck-egg blue slim-fit suit. Xander would be wearing a complimentary navy suit – with very fine checks in almost the same shade as Tim's suit. Tim didn't care, even though he knew Xander would look stunning. But they could get married in yoga pants and tank tops for all he cared.

Xander had asked him, the night before, as they lay tangled up in each other's arms, whether Tim secretly would like something fancier, something with more ceremony, even if they still kept it small. Tim had simply told him, truthfully, that he just wanted to be married to him. And it was the truth. Despite it being something he'd never actively considered before that very day, as soon as it was on the table, it was what he wanted more than anything.

He was distracted from those memories by Allie, François' butler, knocking on the doorframe.

"Sirs, Miss Ariadne awaits you in the drawing room."

"Thanks, Allie. You ready?" Ellis took Tim's hands in his, a soothing smile on his face, ready for last minute nerves.

But Tim didn't have any, grinning happily. "Very. Come on."

Ariadne had held his hand in the swish black car that had taken them to the City Clerk's office. He didn't need it, but he suspected it was actually grounding her.

"I'm just so happy for you both," she said as the car battled with the final bit of traffic.

"You don't think it's too soon?" Tim couldn't help the question. He didn't, but he was very conscious that they'd known each other for such a short time, and they'd chosen to not even settle into the idea of being engaged, but simply to dive in. He didn't like the thought that Xander's family were faking their happiness, but he'd like to know.

"No, I don't. With other people I might. With myself, I would. Or if mom suddenly came home announcing she was marrying again. But not Xander. He's always known his mind, since he was a child. If he's certain, I believe him. And you're good for him. That's easy to see the moment I see you together."

Ariadne kissed his cheek when they stepped out of the car, smiling as they saw Xander exiting his own car. The ceremony wasn't meant to be anything special. The certificate was the important part. So the only people waiting with them were Ariadne and Evelyn, and Xander's friend Landon and his sub Nikki. Tim had only met Nikki once, and he was very tall and a little scary, because he didn't seem to smile much, but Tim remembered how kind he'd been the night of his little breakdown in the club, so he thought they'd probably become friends eventually. He was there then, though, because he apparently took decent pictures, so he would immortalize the day for them. And Landon was there because he was Nikki's Dom, though of course that wasn't getting mentioned to Evelyn.

Waiting was serene, despite the crowds of people passing through the space. The only way to do it was to present the license and take a ticket, awaiting a free turn. So everyone settled in peacefully, Nikki taking multiple posed and candid shots before curling into Landon's side as well as he could in the armed-chairs that littered the waiting room.

Ariadne and Evelyn spoke quietly, and Tim saw them both tear-up multiple times in a way that looked something between happy and bittersweet. Xander had told him about the incredibly happy marriage his parents had before his dad's untimely death so he understood, and he empathized with what Ariadne had said to him in the car.

Safe next to Xander, his long fingers wrapped around Tim's smaller hand, it felt like barely any time before they were being called. The actual ceremony flew – to the point where Tim only had flashpoints of memory. Repeating the officiant's words, with very particular emphasis on the "I do". Then the rings; elegant platinum bands that Xander had been able to have inscribed inside – 'Xander, forever and more' with the date on Tim's, and Tim's name on Xander's, which was slightly thicker to allow for hislarger hands.

And finally, the kiss. A soft thing. Sweet and delicate but promising everything. Tim sank into it, all but forgetting their small audience, until a chuckling cough from Landon brought them back.

Tim was thankful Nikki still had his camera out, picking out the biggest moments to be recorded forever. They joined their friends again after they'd signed all the necessary documents, gathering in the park for more pictures before going to one of François' restaurants.

The sun was setting when they'd finished.

"You ready to go home, Mr Miller?" Xander asked with a smile that could only be called adoring, holding the car door for Tim.

"So ready...Sir," Tim whispered, standing on tiptoes to drop a kiss to the corner of Xander's mouth, and winking at him before he clambered into the seat, ready to start their new life together.

A/N: so this is the end. They might have leapt into this with both feet, but I have a pretty strong idea that they have their Happily Ever After.

A bonus chapter will follow. It's smut, okay. Just smut
