Chapter 22: The calm
A/N: I'm gonna try shorter chapters, so they're easier for you guys to read, and also quicker for me to get out, because I won't be tied up in trying to get a whole section arc complete within a single chapter.
However, more chapter names needed 😢 but needs must, and all that
Tim felt calm. It was a novel experience for him, although the specialist Gray had sent him to had said it might take a while for him to settle into the prescription he'd been given for his ADHD. The physical effect of the drugs had been almost immediate, but his reaction had been up and down, and somehow even more disconcerting than not being on them at all, until they'd found the right dosage. He felt like he'd achieved something, waking up calm and stretching like a happy kitten in the sunny spotlight spanning the bed.
"What do you want to do today?" Xander asked, putting a coffee mug on the nightstand.
"Would it be okay if I met up with Scotty and Ange?"
"Of course. I'd like to take you out for dinner tonight though, if you're up for it. How do you feel?"
Tim shuffled his butt against the soft mattress, checking, but knowing he felt nothing more than a pleasant ache, similar to how he always felt in the hours after Xander taking him apart.
"You look after me so well."
"And I always will, Angel."
Xander slid his long body up the bed, wrapping Tim in his arms so he could nuzzle the back of his neck unhindered.
"Hmmm," Tim murmured, arching back against him. "You tempt me to just stay in bed all day."
As he knew it would, that prompted Xander to jump up with a wicked grin.
"You don't get out of your exercise that easily. Time for yoga. Although I think we should get to bed early tonight."
"Oh, yes. I think a good long sleep is a great plan."
Xander just smirked back, seeing straight through him, pulling him upright, repeating the motion from the bed to wrap Tim in his arms and nip at the back of his neck, though having to bend to do it. Tim liked that. It made him feel protected and safe.
But he couldn't stay there, encased by Xander with the warm morning sun on his face. He pouted at the thought of yoga, even if he always enjoyed it while he was doing it, and definitely afterwards when he had to burn of a job well done running through his body. Xander seemed to read his mind.
"I'll do it with you?"
He wasn't going to turn a quality offer like that down. Xander doing yoga was a sight to behold, and he doubted he'd ever get bored of it.
Later, when he'd showered, proud of himself that he hadn't just leapt on Xander, who always did yoga in nothing but loose fitting pants that hung off his sharp hips – the man was a walking temptation – he messaged Scotty.
He didn't think too much of it when he didn't hear back. Scotty wasn't exactly reliable, and might have been at work, anyway. Xander went to the university to complete some preparation for the new college year, and Tim decided to get out of the apartment. He could take a walk in the park.
Though it was a bright day, Tim quickly became despondent. He was bored. His mood had stabilized with the prescription he'd been given, but he had a feeling his low mood now wasn't really down to his ADHD. When his phone went, he felt as though a weight had lifted, and when it was Dae and Ellis asking if he wanted to hang out he could have sung.
It wasn't far to go back across the park to Ellis' house, which was on the opposite side of the club to Xander's apartment, and they were both waiting for him in the basement playroom. Except not that kind of playroom. Just full of game stuff, which Tim figured was for Ellis, because there was every type of games console with a huge TV and a massive curved couch that could probably seat at least ten people with ease, and there was foosball, and a pool table.
Dae and Ellis were on the couch, playing Mario Kart, loudly. Dae threw his controller down on the cushion when he saw Tim, jumping up to hug him.
"Oh, hi, hey."
Tim was a little taken aback. He didn't know Dae, not really, and wasn't used to people being so tactile. Except Xander, but he didn't think Dae had that kind of interest in him. Even Scotty and Ange weren't that touchy and he'd known them years. Hugs, sure, but Dae had pulled him into a full body tackle, and wasn't letting go.
Ellis just ruffled the bit of his hair he could see on his way past, and he pulled some sodas out of a fridge behind a bar, handing them over when Dae finally let go and they were all seated on the couch.
"You been busy today?" Ellis asked.
"Not really. Xander wants to take me for dinner tonight."
"He's trying to feed you up," Dae laughed, and shrugged at Tim's bemused look. "Daddy does the same to me. He worries I don't eat enough."
Tim flushed, worried about overstepping, but he was intrigued. "Is that why you call him Daddy? Because he looks after you?"
"Eh, kinda. Well, yeah, it is that I guess." Dae peered at Tim like he was trying to read his mind. "You wondering whether you want to call Xander Daddy?"
"Oh! No." Tim blushed even harder, lowering his eyes as he admitted, "I don't really know how this Dom stuff is meant to go. I think we talk about things, but is he expecting me to start calling him that? Because he looks after me?"
"I doubt it," Ellis reassured him. "As far as I know that isn't one of Xander's kinks, and I'm pretty sure he'd just tell you if he wanted it. I've never heard that he's shy in saying what he wants."
It made Tim think. Because he could agree that Xander seemed happy to simply tell Tim if he had an urge to try something and, so far anyway, Tim had always gone along with it. But it was a little strange that Ellis spoke with such easy confidence about what Xander liked.
"Have you, er, scened with Xander?"
"No. I'm a one Dom boy. I've been with Suzu since I got into this. We've played with a couple others, but none of Suzu's close friends."
Tim was confused, which always made his head fuzzy, and he took a large swig of soda, swallowing and tilting his head. "Huh? Who?"
"Well, he's Master François to you," Ellis grinned. "We've all got nicknames. I bet Xander's got one for you?"
"He calls me Angel."
"Aww." Dae jumped up, almost knocking Tim's drink out of his hand, hugging him again.
His phone buzzed then.
"Hang on."
He awkwardly fished it out of his tight jeans, to read a message from Scotty.
...You gotta call...
He had no idea what Scotty wanted, but, as usual, he responded immediately, excusing himself from the others to sit on the broad lowest step into the basement, to make his call.
"Hi Scotty, are you at work?"
"What? Yeah. It doesn't matter. I got a visitor..."
"You did?"
Tim was confused as to what it had to do with him, but Scotty didn't leave him hanging.
"Your father's in town. He's looking for you."
