II: La Noche de Anoche.
- "Porque la noche de anoche fue algo que yo no puedo explicar. Sola, dando y dándole sin parar. Tú me decías que morías por mí." -
Benito was sitting on his balcony, wrapped in a blanket - well his lower body was covered. He heard his toilette flush and a light switch before bare feet were making their way towards him. When he heard the feet step outside towards him, he looked over to his door. Lucrecia was wearing one of his shirts. She yawned and leaned against the frame of the backdoor.
"I'll leave in a bit." she informed him. Benito stayed silent, he was still processing their evening. He had never had a night like this. No woman had ever made him crave more, whether it was of time that he wanted spend with the person or their body but with Lucrecia it was different. She had teased him, all night she had kept him on her hook and she had made sure to please him well when they had left the bar. Benito was used to women giving him all their attention, but Lu was the opposite. It hadn't even been half an hour since they had moaned and yet she was the one that wanted to leave. Benito was used to the women trying to stay as long as he allowed them to.
„You can stay if you want to." he quietly offered. Lucrecia chuckled just as silently and started shaking her head.
„Thanks for the offer but I gotta get going." she answered. Benito took another drag from his cigarette. Although one night stands were the only thing he ever wanted from women, it bothered him that she was just like him.
Two days had passed and all Benito could think of was Lucrecia Sanchez. He knew that he would go crazy if he didn't get her to want him for more than just sex. He wasn't in love with her, he was obsessed with the fact that she was different that all the women he had met before. Benito had another job and he was focused. His target was a woman. She gad long curly black hair and slightly tanned skin. He didn't have a name but he did have information about where she was gonna be. Benito assumed that she was wealthy because the spot where he would find her was a café in downtown Manhattan. Poison was not his usual way of killing someone but if he didn't have any other choice, he would use it. He had sat down in a booth inside of the café about 20 minutes before the woman was supposed to show up. It was 9.30 am. There was a lot of people having breakfast there. El Saguaro had never given him a deadline for when the jobs had to be done but Benito preferred doing it as fast as possible. As he was drinking a coffee to kill the time, he was looking around. Mostly business people were there, all of them were wearing dress shirts. He himself was also wearing one, a black one with his wolf pendant at the collar. Even though he was dressed like everyone else in the café, he sticked out with his tattooes and wild curly hair.
Ten minutes later, the little bell hanging over the door indicated that someone had entered the café. Benito had observed everyone that had walked in but noone had looked anything like the picture El Saguaro had given him. He looked up, while taking a sip from his coffee and nearly chocked on it. The person he had been obsessing about had walked in. Lucrecia looked different, she fit right into this business people aesthetic. Benito put his cup down and shook his head slightly. Lucrecia was wearing a light blue skirt, a white blouse and a matching blazer. The last time he had seen her, she had been wearing sneakers, now she was wearing expensive high heels. Her hair was straightened and parted in the middle. She was carrying an expensive handbag in her right hand. Benito had to admit, the two of them were quite similar. He also had worn more casual stuff at the bar and if she had seen him, she would've thought the same. Lucrecia walked over to the counter. She ordered herself a coffee and a bagel, then she sat herself down in one of the booths that wasn't taken. Since she walked past him and chose a seat in his direction, he grabbed the newspaper he had brought to somewhat hide. Benito couldn't help but observe her. A few minutes later, another woman approached Lucrecia. It took him a few moments but he realised that said woman was his target. „Hi mom." Lucrecia greeted the woman. Benito suddenly felt like a cord was tightening around his neck. He couldn't poison that woman in front of her daughter but what he could do, was befriending Lu and getting closer to her mother to eliminate his target. Slowly, he put his newspaper down, got up from his chair and walked over to their table. Lucrecia was explaining something to her mother, when she noticed him. Immediately, she fell silent.
„Lu?" he asked in a surprised tone.
„Hi, Benito." Lucrecia greeted him in the same tone. Her mother looked at her, then to her right where Benito was now standing, then she shot her daughter a look that said everything. Lucrecia cleared her throat.
„Mom, this is Benito, Benito this is my mother." she introduced them.
„Nice to meet you, Mrs. Sanchez. I'm a big fan of your work." Benito replied. He put on his best smile and let his charm do the work. Mrs. Sanchez immediately returned his smile.
Two hours later, Benito said goodbye to Mrs. Sanchez, then he brought Lucrecia home since her apartment wasn't far. While they were walking, it was silent. Benito was looking around the neighborhood, he was impressed.
„Carlos wasn't lying when he said you were royality." he commented, when they arrived at the house she lived in. Lucrecia smiled to herself, ignoring his comment. „Oh, and you look a lot different today." he added, looking her up and down.
„You do too." she responded, before letting out a laugh. Benito returned it and nodded.
„So, tell me, what do you want?" Lu asked afterwards.
„Well, you left without another word and I was hoping to get your number." Benito replied confidently. Lucrecia couldn't help but smile. She started looking for something in her bag and when she had found it, she pulled it out - a pen. Benito looked at her face as she grabbed his hand.
„Call or text if you want. I don't always hit and run." she mumbled, while writing her number onto the palm of his hand. Benito started smiling, step one of his plan had been aquired.
