Chapter Nineteen

"I wish I could show you Frogmore House, mom." Evee mumbled, taking a piece of baguette and dipping it carefully in her tomato soup.
"I'm sure we'll see it when the baby's born." Her father's eyes glistered as he reached out and put a hand on his shoulder. "When you two are all settled in there with the three of you."
Harry grinned, nodding his head. It was the day before his wife was due and in any normal situation, they would be packing their bags to go towards Sandringham estate for Christmas. Instead, everything was packed to go towards the Lindo wing at St Mary's hospital. If the prince was honest, he was secretly a little glad that he could skip this year. He was lucky his grandmother had given him permission to do so. "And Bennett, don't forget Bennett." He spoke, grinning at the Beagle sitting right next to his chair.
"How do you think he'll be with the baby?" Evee's mother questioned, a little concern held back in her eyes.
"I'm sure he'll be wonderful. He's amazing with George and Charlotte." The Duchess of Clarence and Avondale smiled, "He's getting old though, I doubt he'll be able to catch up."
"He seems in young spirit." Her father commented, looking at the fish eyed Beagle, it seems as if the dog knew that they were talking about him.
"He is." The blonde grinned. "But he's always happier when he's around children, it's like he has an energy boost, he comes alive." The Beagle didn't even care what his owner said, he laid down, his head flat on the floor between his front paws. "Anways, I'm really glad you two are here with me."
Ingrid and Danny Delamane had arrived yesterday evening, moving into one of the guestrooms of Kensington Palace so they could be close to their daughter for the most important event of her life; the birth of their third grandchild. "Where else would we be?" Her mother smiled, "Alexander, Jess and the boys will be here tomorrow as well. Jess couldn't take leave earlier at work."
Harry smiled, being genuinely happy that his in laws were here. He always liked the Delamanes but more importantly he knew it would take Evee's mind off the birth for just a little while. The blonde sighed, "Let's all hope and pray this little one wants to come out tomorrow." She stifled a yawn. "I've been so tired lately and the hard work hasn't even begun."
"Don't worry about that." Ingrid tried to comfort her daughter, "Once you're in labour, the actual rush won't give you any time to be tired anymore."
The blonde's eyes searched the ones similar to hers right across the table, holding on to them for just a second or two, "I really want the baby out, but I'm also scared mum. I've never done anything like this before." She tried to hold back her tears, failing when she felt her father's hand on her shoulder, giving her an encouraging squeeze.
"You'll be fine sweetheart, you're one of the toughest girls I know." Her mother smiled, "You've got a wonderful husband by your side who'll support you no matter what and we will just be around the corner. Once all this is over, you will have the best gift in the world. Something you'll love more than anything. I know for a fact that you will do marvellously." Ingrid nodded her head. "Now wipe away those tears and keep them stored for when you hear your child's first scream."
"I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot of that in the first couple of months." Danny chuckled, looking at his daughter and son in law. Evee couldn't help but chuckle, placing her hands on top of her huge stomach, he was more than welcome now. She was ready for it.

"Harry." Evee groaned, walking around the dining room in desperation. "It's December 23th."
The ginger tried not to laugh at his wife. He was sitting at the dining table behind his laptop. He, of course, had a couple of weeks off for the birth of his first child, but he still had to keep up with his e-mails. "So I've heard."
"Why isn't he here yet?" She sighed, plopping right next to him in a chair.
"'Cause he seems to like it in there with you. I'd do the same if I were him." Harry grinned, closing his laptop and turning towards his wife. "The doctor said we couldn't push it. It'll come. Just keep walking around."
"I've been walking around all morning! My feet are the size of freaking submarines!" He tried not to laugh at her, he really did. He knew how miserable she was but this was one of the last times he'd see her with this belly in a while and he couldn't help but enjoy it. She was beautiful. If he'd ignore the scolding on her face, she'd be a picture. "I need you to do something for me."
"Tell me, I would do anything." He smiled, grabbing her hand and rubbing his thumb on top of hers.
"I need you... To shave me... Downstairs."
Harry's eyes widened as they shifted towards her lower area. "I can't do that."
"You have to! I can't reach it anymore! I can hardly wipe my own butt!" She argued. "There will be an entire team looking at my downstairs area and I'll be damned if it looks like a rain forest!"
"Evee... I doubt they'll be worried about some hair."
"Do you want me to ask Bobby?" She raised her eyebrows in challenge, she knew she had him on this one.
"What?! No!" He immediately replied, "I'm just- I'm just scared that I'll cut you."
"You won't." Evee replied, "I'm grabbing the stuff I need, I'll meet you in the living room. The couch is probably the best place. I need to be able to spread." She huffed, wobbling out of the dining room rapidly.
His eyes widened and the prince was about to argue once again but his wife had already left the dining room. Harry ignored his worry, he surely could do a simple task like that, right?
Ten minutes, a bunch of shaving crème, three towels, a groaning Duchess and a very much concentrating prince later, the couple thought they had actually worked together quite well. "I think I got it all." Harry squinted his eyes, "It hasn't been this smooth since we first started dating."
"Shut up." Evee chuckled, trying to punch his upper arm but failed to reach it since her stomach was in the way. "You did good, Wales. If I can still call you that." For the first time in a while she actually felt genuinely giddy again. It took a stupid, embarrassing task like this to actually make them laugh again like old times.
Before she became a grumpy, old pregnant woman.
"I love you." She smiled, looking into his blue orbs "You know that right?"
"I do know that." Harry grinned back, sitting on the floor right next to her head. Ignoring all their shaving supply placed in their coffee table, he gently cupped her cheek and placed a long, sweet kiss upon her lips. "I love you too."
"Thank you for this. You did a good job." She giggled, trying to roll over on her side and to wrap her arm around his neck, hoping to get as close as possible towards him.
"We're a good team." He beamed, feeling her lips against his neck.
"We are." The blonde mumbled, feeling the scruffiness of his beard against her lips. "You'll be a wonderful father... Harry..."
"Mmm." He answered, closing his eyes to enjoy their closeness. He couldn't help but try to capture the moments where it would just be two of them anymore. He couldn't wait to his child, to hold him, to love and cherish him but he knew everything would be different once his son was born. He knew their lives would revolve around him. It wouldn't be just the two of them anymore.
"Can we... The doctor said... Sex could enhance the labour... " At this point she would have done anything to get this baby out, she knew Harry didn't like having sex while she was pregnant. He was always scared of hurting the baby, scared of hurting her. He had done it the first couple of months because his wife was desperate but now, the last two months he simply didn't want to do it anymore.
She knew that, she respected that.
"No." He firmly spoke.
"Harry... Come on... I want him out. We're December 23rd." Evee wined, pouting her lips. "People have been camping outside the hospital for the last two days."
"I don't care." Harry spoke, turning his body towards her and placing his head on top of her stomach. "He'll come out whenever he's ready. "
"Fine." She grumbled, rolling her eyes slightly. "But you better make it up to me when we're allowed to have sex again."
"Oh, I will." The ginger grinned placing a kiss upon her stomach and then another on her knuckles. "I promise."
