Chapter Nine
"Are you excited to see your folks?" Harry questioned with a smile upon his face. He was glad that his wife looked a little better than she did two days ago. He knew she needed to catch up on some rest when he went to the Van Gogh museum by himself. He had gotten tons of questions by the media why she wasn't with him and he tried to be as cordial as possible, telling them that she wasn't feeling too well. He had learned how to keep a straight smile upon his face, his eyes revealing a little hint of worry. Even the media seemed to notice that the Duke wasn't his usual cheery self.
They knew he was worried about his wife so they didn't probe any further. Evee grinned, looking at the familiar road ahead of them. They had just turned into her parent's block. "Can't wait to tell everybody. We have my brother's gift along, right?"
Harry grabbed the bag next to his feet, lifting it a little to show it to her. "Of course."
"Okay." She nodded her head, subconsciously holding the swell of her stomach. She made sure she wore her least fitted dress. It seems as days pass by, the baby was set on revealing itself to the world, growing a little bit bigger every day.
Their car turned into the familiar long drive way and stopped in the back. Evee unbuckled herself carefully, an excited grin upon her slight pale face. She didn't wait for Bobby to open her door but scrabbled outside herself, immediately grinning when she already noticed her brother's car in the driveway as well. Her head turned towards the back door, her mother stood there with the same excited eyes as her daughter. "Eveline!"
"Mama!" The blonde ran on her flat boots towards her mother, captivating her in a bear hug. "Ik heb je gemist!" (I've missed you!)
"I've missed you too!" Her mother closed her eyes for a minute, happy to hold her daughter instead of seeing her on television or in the magazines. "Harry! Come here!" Ingrid let go of Evee, immediately throwing her hands around her son in laws chest. "How are you two? How was Holland?! I've recorded Royalty! We can watch it later!"
"Mom! No! We're not doing that." Evee shook her head, entering the house through the backdoor and immediately shrugging off her boots.
"I've heard you were sick. Are you better now?" Her mother scanned her daughter's face.
"I'm alright, where's the rest of the family?" The Duchess tried to change the subject.
"They're already in the living room." Evee immediately grinned, turning on her feet to walk towards the living room, leaving the two of them behind.
Ingrid stopped Harry from following, putting a hand upon his upperarm in concern. "How is she really?"
"Overworked." Harry nodded his head at his mother in law who looked concerned. "I nearly had to tape her to the bed the last day of the tour." He couldn't tell Misses Delamane about the pregnancy just yet, but he was not lying.
"I have some Duct tape lying around here somewhere." Ingrid's eyes roamed over Harry's concerned ones. "Do whatever you have to do." She mumbled, stepping into the living room with her son in law.
He just nodded his head in return, his troubled features immediately changing when Matteo ran up towards him, tackling his right leg. "Hey buddy!"
"Uncle Harry!" Andreas strolled up towards the ginger very casually as Harry noticed that his wife already shrugged off her coat.
"How are you two?"
"Nana says we can eat French fries!" Andreas grinned, showing off his nearly toothless mouth. A couple of natal teeth had fallen out, making place for his new ones.
"I love French fries." Harry grinned, saying hello to everybody.
"No French fries just yet! We're going to toast first!" Evee noticed her mother placing a bottle of champagne in her father's hands.
Alexander, who sat next to his sister grinned on the leather couch, turning towards her. "What's up, sister of mine?"
"Nothing much, what's up with you, oh holy brother of mine?" Evee beamed, happy to be back with her family. She felt the sofa sink right next to her because Harry took place in it.
"The usual boring stuff, didn't meet any kings or queens in the last months." Her brother shrugged his shoulders in amusement as Jessica, Evee's sister in law rolled her eyes at her husband.
Evee grinned, shaking her head at her brother and eyeing the bottle of champagne her father just popped. She knew she couldn't drink from it so her eyes sought out Harry's, ignoring her mother already filling up all six glasses. "So what are we toasting to?" Her father grinned, looking at both his children equally. "A happy marriage?"
Evee felt her mother push a glass of champagne in her hands and awkwardly held on to it, watching how she gave everyone else a glass as well. She heard Harry sigh right next to her, "Actually..." He spoke, eyeing his wife who nodded her head at him. "We have a gift for Alexander."
"For me?" Evee's brother looked confused at his brother in law.
"Yes." The blonde eagerly nodded her head, "I want you to open it before we toast." She noticed Harry grabbing the little bag right next to him and passing it to his wife. This was her brother, she could give it to him. He would give his to William when they got home.
Alexander raised his eyebrows in curiosity when his sister passed him the bag. Everyone in the room seemed to focus on Evee's brother taking out the square, wrapped package out of the bag, placing it on his lap.
The Duchess her eyes locked with her husband's once again in excitement as she felt Harry take her hand in his and giving a small squeeze. She watched how her brother unwrapped the present and how everyone's curious eyes seemed to be drawn by the little package. When her brother finally registered the words written on the mug, his mouth widened in shock.
The best uncles are also godfathers.
"What does it say?" She heard her godson speak in the background.
Alexander's eyes widened as a grin immediately spread on his face. He turned around in the sofa, carefully placing the mug on the floor to wrap his sister in his arms. "Congratulations! Oh my- I cannot believe it! Yes! Yes! I would love to be. Shit- Oh I can't say that. Holy Pinocchio's!"
"Alexander! Tell us what's going on!" Evee heard her mother speak, she laughed and threw back her head in happiness as her brother took her into her arms.
"You tell them!" Her brother grinned, patting Harry's upperarm in excitement.
"We're pregnant." Evee grinned, looking around the room and ignoring her mother squealing and jumping around!
"OH! Oh! OH!" Ingrid grinned.
Evee's father looked a little confused, his English wasn't as good as the rest of the family's. "Pregnant..." He mumbled, "Pregnant?" His eyes widened and turned towards his daughter's stomach.
The couple in the meantime was attacked by hugs by everybody as her father's realization set in.
"Danny! Get up and congratulate the couple! We worden opnieuw grootouders!" (We'll be grandparents again!) Evee heard her mother instruct.
"Talking about fast swimmers!" Alexander grinned, punching Harry's shoulders in the process. Her father who seemed to turn a little pale by those words, turned towards his daughter, taking her into her arms.
"Congratulations, princess." When he actually finally realized that his daughter was pregnant, a grin spread on his face. "I know you two will be excellent parents."
"Thanks daddy." Evee smiled as her father turned towards her husband and took him into his arms. She couldn't help but notice Harry's excited, joyful eyes.
She tried to ignore her mother pressing her hands on her small bump. "And here I was thinking, you just got a little fat from the honeymoon."
"Mom!" Evee rolled her eyes, ignoring her brother pointing a finger at her.
"I know all of you are very excited." Her brother stated in a thick accent. "But only I am the godfather of a royal baby."
"Shut up." Evee slapped her brother's forearm. She didn't want to kill his vibe by telling him there would be multiple godfathers. "We can still take the mug back."
"No!" Alexander's eyed widened, grabbing the cup and protecting it with all his life. "You can't take it back."
Harry laughed, watching his wife and brother in law bicker with amusement. He watched how Jessica turned towards him, "You made my husband really happy, you know."
"Wouldn't have it any other way." He smiled contently, watching how his mother in law marched in the room with some orange juice.
"Any other godparents?" Jessica smiled at Evee and Harry.
"We've discussed it, yes." Evee nodded her head, "Harry's brother will be another one. We'll ask Chloe to be godmother and Mathias as well. Harry's friend Thomas Inskip as well and we were actually thinking about Princess Sofia of Sweden and Princess Elisabeth of Belgium."
As soon as Evee said the words, Alexander nearly spit out his drink. "Does everybody get a mug?"
"No, the mugs are just for you and William." Evee laughed, shaking her head at her brother.
"When are you due?" Ingrid questioned, placing a glass of orange juice in her daughter's hands.
"A little before Christmas. I'm 13 weeks now, just in my second trimester."
"This must be so exciting for both of you." Jessica grinned, looking sweetly at Harry placing his hand on his wife's knee with a big smile. "Do you know the gender yet?"
Harry shook his head, "No, not yet, we have another appointment with the doctor in two weeks. We should be able to know by then."
"We're not telling you by the way." Evee pointed her fingers at her family.
"I think it'll be a girl." Jessica grinned, looking at the couple. "With your hair, Harry."
"Good luck with that." Ingrid laughed, shaking her head. "If she's anything like her mother, you'll have your hands full for the next few years."
"We don't know if it's a girl just yet. Let's just keep everything calmed down for now." Evee grinned, watching her excited family. "So I think everybody should try to get some time off at work around Christmas to come to London."
Danny Delamane nodded his head at his daughter, "Does your family already know, Harry?"
The Duke shook his head, "We're getting together with everybody as soon as we get home tomorrow. We're having dinner with my father and my brother then. I've made an appointment with my grandmother the day after tomorrow."
"I bet your father will be over the moon. He is such a delightful man." Ingrid spoke, nodding her head.
Harry smiled appreciatively at his mother in law, "We have a couple days off to rest a little. We'll inform the press after we tell most of our family and friends. It should take us another week."
"So it's best you don't go sipping coffee from your mug at work, Alex." Evee pointed out, looking at the pride grin upon her brother's face. "We're trying to get the rumours to stay low."
"Of course, of course." Her brother grinned at his sister. "So any names yet? Alexander is very pretty."
Evee rolled her eyes, trying to hold back laughter. "I thought you guys said it would be a girl."
"Alexander, Alexandria. Same difference." Her brother shrugged his shoulders.
"We haven't discussed it yet, have we?" Harry questioned, looking at his wife. "It's all been very busy with the visit and we haven't even gotten the time to just, sit down and talk about names or nurseries and nannies."
Evee ignored the rise in her chest to comment on the nanny part and smiled, "As soon as we get home, we have tons of things to take care of."
"Try to take things as easy as possible, you still have six months for everything." Ingrid advised, smiling at her daughter. "Just enjoy it, being pregnant is an amazing thing."
Apart from the morning sickness, dizziness, tits hurting and snappy attitude, Evee was certain it was.
