Chapter Four

From the moment the doctor actually left the house, Evee couldn't sit still. Her stomach was heavy and she still felt sort of dizzy but it seemed as if adrenaline took over her body. She rubbed her hands in anticipation, pacing through the living room, holding on to the back of the sofa.

She was going to be a mother.

There was a something growing inside of her. There was a little human being growing inside her belly. Something that Harry and her had created. Something entirely of their own. Her hand unconsciously placed itself upon her stomach, rubbing the soft spot.

The doctor said she would be showing soon.

She only thought the pounds she gained were from the honeymoon. She had eaten so much cheese in those two weeks and a half. She had tried to watch her weight the last months before the wedding, it was the first time she could actually let go again. Not that she went into a binge eating process, but still, she was allowed to eat cheese now. The only thing was, the weight wasn't a result of the cheese, it was the result of a pregnancy.

How could she been so stupid? She heard stories of women that knew instantly they were pregnant. But she, she hadn't felt a thing. She couldn't help but wonder if she was a bad mother already. Evee bit her lip, shaking her head. Her hands rubbing her tired eyes.

She had to tell Harry, they had to go to the hospital in five hours. Now that the doctor was gone, her worries seemed to heighten themselves. What if everything wasn't alright? She had fallen down so many times during skiing, she still had the bruises to prove it.

"Ma'am. Is everything alright?" Her security guard questioned in concern, looking at his boss pacing around.

Her tired eyes stared at him, a big smile upon her face. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Could you- You wouldn't happen to know when my husband arrives home, would you?"

"He said it was a very short meeting, he should be home shortly. He informed me he'd be home by eleven thirty." Bobby looked at Evee in concern, "Maybe you should lay down until he arrives, I will let you know. If you want me to call him now..."

"No, no. Don't call him, he should be home soon then." Her eyes shifted towards the vintage clock in the corner of the room. It was nearly eleven thirty. "You're right. I should probably sit a little bit." Evee mumbled, walking towards the couch and placing herself on it. "Bobby, please sit with me."

The bodyguard looked at the blonde, immediately replying to her request with placing himself in the opposite sofa. He stared at her nervous eyes. "Are you sure everything is alright?"

The Duchess smiled encouragingly, "I'm fine. Just a little dizzy." She took a deep breath, silence overtaking the room. "You, you don't think I'm stupid right?"

"No, ma'am, of course not."

"Okay." She bit her lip, nodding her head. Silence once again took over the room when the bodyguard noticed his boss staring in front of her, her pale face looking out the window. Her left hand was unconsciously rubbing her belly and immediately the man knew why the doctor was here. He tried to stay as professional as possible, not letting the Duchess know of any of his suspicions.

When the front door finally opened, Bobby stretched his legs, looking at the blonde. "I will see you on Monday." He nodded his head, trying not to congratulate her nor wish her good luck. She would see right through him if he did.

"Okay, sorry for interrupting your weekend, Bobby." Evee smiled, "I appreciate it. I'll see you on Monday."

"It's no problem, ma'am." The man nodded his head one final time, he turned around just in time to see the prince enter the room.

"Everything alright in here?" Harry spoke softly towards the bodyguard, eyeing his wife sitting in the sofa.

"Of course, sir. She did not throw up and has been walking around." Bobby nodded his head, trying not to smile.

"Okay, thank you, I appreciate you coming so quickly. I know she feels most comfortable with you. Enjoy your weekend." Harry spoke, patting the man's shoulder and giving him one final smile. When the security guard finally left the room, Harry unbuttoned the top pin of his shirt. His eyes adverted towards his wife, looking at him with an anticipating smile. "I see you're feeling a little better."

"Yes, yes." She nodded her head, biting her lip.

"What did the doctor say? Did he bring the right medication?" Harry spoke, making his way towards the kitchen to grab a glass of water. He opened the fridge real quick, filling two glasses of water. He took them both, entering the living room once again.

"I did not get any medication." Evee spoke, biting her cheek. She tried not to grin at his confused face. He offered her one glass which she gladly accepted with a small thank you.

"What do you mean he didn't bring you any medication? Is it a virus?" She stared up at him, gently sipping from the glass of water.

"No, no. Not a virus, no." Evee chuckled, shaking her head at him. She managed to put the glass of water on the coffee table, turning towards him. "I need you to sit down first."

"You're scaring me a little now..." Harry gently spoke, his eyes never leaving hers as he took a seat next to her on the sofa. He placed one hand on her knee. "Is everything alright?"

"Okay, remember how you wondered around Christmas, you know at Sandringham, what Christmas would be like next year." Harry nodded his head and when the words finally sank through, he stopped nodding slowly, stopping to stare at her with a widened mouth. His gaze slowly sinking down to her stomach. "We're pregnant, Harry."

Silence filled the room for more than ten seconds, Harry's eyes never leaving her stomach. She squinted her own back at him, crooking her head. She wasn't sure if he had actually heard her because he kept on staring at her stomach with a shocked expression. It was fun for ten seconds, really but then she got a little worried. She placed her head a little closer towards his, trying to unlock his eyes from her stomach. "Okay, I'm not sure if you heard me. I'm going to say it again. I'm pregnant. Around ten weeks the doctor said."

Evee raised her eyebrows at his still unchanged expression towards her stomach. She adverted her eyes slowly around her, the silence evident as her husband still had a expressionless face. "Okay. I'm just, going to go to the bathroom real quick. You take your time. You're going to be a daddy." Evee spoke, standing up carefully, looking at him a little oddly when he just stared at the spot she just sat.

Before she left the room, she spoke, "Oh and we need to go to the gynecologist in five hours. The doctor said it was necessary before we go abroad. But you know, take your time." She waved her hands and turned towards the restroom. She took a deep breath, placing herself on the toilet and did her thing. After washing her hands, she walked back towards the living room to see Harry still sitting in the exact same spot.

"Okay, you're obviously still here... Not talking... You're still breathing, are you? Did I break you? Do you need a glass of water? There's some on the table..." Evee walked back towards him sitting next of him, snapping her fingers in front of his face.

His eyes finally locked itself from the spot they were holding towards hers and it was then that she realized they were red and glossy, "Oh sweety..." She mumbled, throwing her arms carefully around his neck.

"You're pregnant?" He croaked out against her neck.

She nodded her head, pulling it back to watch his expression. The last time she had seen him this emotional was at the altar. "Yes, the doctor said about ten weeks... Guess we went on our honeymoon with two and came back as three."

"That's just..." He quickly wiped away the tear falling down his eye. "You're telling me I'll become a daddy?"

"Yes." She nodded her head, "You'll become a daddy in less than seven months."

"I'm just, I'm so happy." He laughed, shaking his head. "I can't believe it. There's a little baby inside your belly. Our baby." He eagerly kissed her, wrapping both his hands around her neck and when he let go of his wife, he placed his hand upon her stomach. "What do you think it'll be?" He grinned, looking up at her with a Cheshire smile.

Evee laughed, throwing her head back at his sudden change of emotion. "Well, the doctors said there's a good chance there's triplets, because of the blood results."

"WHAT?" His eyes widened, jumping back a little.

"Just kidding." The blonde laughed, "But that was funny."

"Don't do that!" He shook his head, a smile still upon his face. It didn't matter what she said, for all he cared she could give birth to a whole soccer team. "We have to go to the hospital tonight?"

"Yes, the doctor said it would be safest to go as soon as possible. Definitely before leaving for The Netherlands on Monday. Since I'm already more than two months, they want to make sure everything's fine." Evee explained, matching the beaming smile of her husband. "We have an appointment at St-Mary's at five."

"Oh wow." Harry bit his lip, "We're going to see our baby. Do you think we'll know the gender yet?"

"The doctor said we'd only know after sixteen weeks but we'll know it there's more than one." Evee's eyes locked with her husband's and she knew he exactly what he was thinking. "There better be only one, if there's two..."

"Or three." Harry grinned.

"If there's three, I'm letting Chloe adopt one." Evee mumbled back, throwing her head against the head of the sofa, closing her eyes. She felt Harry place his head upon her lap carefully.

"Ha!" He grinned, "I don't think so." She just smiled in return, feeling his hand upon her stomach once again. "So, boy or girl?"

"I don't know. I just want it to be healthy." Evee mumbled, her hand stroking Harry's hair on her lap.

"Yeah... I think it'll be a girl." He mumbled lovingly. "With blonde hair, just like you. She'd have me all wrapped around her little finger."

Evee laughed, still feeling her heavy stomach in the background, "Or a boy, with your ginger hair. I'd like to see that. A mini-Harry. Oh god, I just realized something-"

"What?" Harry looked up in concern.

"I was an absolute nightmare when I was a child and you were even worse. This child will be..."

"Definitely ours." Harry grinned, holding back the thought of going outside and screaming in the middle of the courtyard that he was going to be a father.
