Secrets
Hc: No one is meant to know about you and L. And that was successful until the final stretch of the case.
The final stretch of the Kira case, all that's left of to secure Lights conviction. Misa who was definitely the second Kira was being very heavily questioned, as if it was Light who was controlling her she'd have a different sentence. So while she was being heavily monitored, she wasn't in a cell yet, still roaming around taskforce. She was actually quite upset, not just because she was caught and Light was ignoring her for it, because she knew her friendship with you was ruined.
Thanks to your snooping, you'd found the death note and found a way to prevent you and L from dying by death note. There's loopholes in the rules if you look deep enough. So with rem gone, it was one less threat. Ryuk wouldn't do anything, you knew that much. Misa wouldn't because she didn't have the book anymore. Light was locked up, you were pretty safe for now.
In just a few weeks, the case will be closed. So you'd booked your flights back to England. You were so ready for this case to be over. For two reasons, you'd be out of this mess, away from the killers. And because you could finally start wedding plans.
After a two year engagement with L, you can finally start shopping for dresses and booking venues.
All this time you'd been successful in keeping the engagement and relationship as a whole from the taskforce for the sake of the case. But finally, finally after years of pretending to be only work colleagues, you could start planning the rest of your lives together.
"What about here? It's pretty, it's pretty spacious and has a beautiful garden" you said, looking at pictures of a potential venue.
L looked over your shoulder, inspecting the setting.
"It's pretty, does it provide decorations or do we have to provide them?" He asked.
"Uhhh... it says here we can pick from 6 themes and they'll provide decorations as long as we provide catering"
"Sounds good. Let's book it"
You nodded, sending off an email about booking dates and prices. You just had to wait for a reply so you decided to look at pictures of possible wedding dresses to pass the time. You wanted something elegant, but dramatic. Something that you could move around in, but was big and pretty.
"Gosh, I have no idea what I'm going to wear" you mumbled, scrolling through the pictures.
L stopped packing up the evidence boxes to look over at the screen.
"I'm sure you'll find something. I have to wear a suit... you're not the only one who's struggling to find something" he said.
"You should wear a tailed suit, you'd look great"
"I hate suits... so restrictive. But you know, it's a wedding, I guess tails could be nice. I want to know what you're wearing though so I can wear a something that'd balance it out"
"But you're not allowed to see the dress before the wedding! That's the rules!" You giggled.
"I don't need to see the EXACT dress. Just something similar so I know what to look for" he replied.
The blonde paced aimlessly down the hallways, now that she's been caught, she found herself thinking about life, wondering what she'd done and if it was really worth it. She was lost in her own jumbled thoughts, unsure of everything. Aimlessly walking down the hallways, she passed the room you were in hearing laughing. She stopped, peeking in the door and her mind filling with shock when she saw what was going on.
The detective who'd detained her and her best friend, with their lips pressed together. The kiss broke and L smiled down at you.
"I can't wait for the day you're my wife" he said.
Wife? You were marrying L? That would explain the ring you always wore... now that she thought about it, the small things she picked up on throughout the case made sense. She always thought that maybe you'd had a crush on L, but you were engaged to him? It made so much sense.
"Misa"
She turned to see Aizawa behind her.
"Light has requested to talk to you, were going to the prison"
What did Light want? She took one more look at you and L. She was happy for her best friend, but still felt a pang of jealousy that she'd never have that love in her life. She complied, and followed Aizawa to the police cars where she was escorted to a high security prison with a room specifically for monitored conversations with the outside world. She was taken to said room where Light was sitting in handcuffs and a rather depressing outfit of an orange jumpsuit.
"W-what do you want to talk to be about?" She asked, sitting down.
"It's not like I can ask you to kill anyone, you're caught, I'm caught and we're both heavily monitored. But if I'm going to be stuck here... I must know. What's L going to do now?" He asked.
"Well... I'm sure he's just going to keep taking cases. Probably look more into the death note. And..."
"And?"
"He's getting married in about half a year..."
"Married? L? Two who?" Light questioned, not expecting this at all
"(Y/n)..." Misa replied.
"(Y/n)? Wow... they did a good job hiding everything. Listen Misa, just because they get their happy ending doesn't mean I'm giving up. I'll find a way. And I expect you to be there to help when I figure it out"
Misa was silent. Happy ending huh? It was no happy ending for her. She and Light would be locked up for the rest of their lives. Regardless of weather they escape and get some kind of death note power again, L would still be untouchable along with his new wife. The wedding would continue, possibly with some Shinigami watching for the entertainment. They both knew full well that there was no way out of this.
Light was just too far gone to properly realise it. His god-complex had gotten so warped, it was his way or nothing at all.
"Misa, you're on my side. Friendships don't matter, stop being hung up on the wedding and help me out here" Light said.
"R-right..."
Stop being hung up on the wedding? She could never. Her best friend who she'd turned her back on was getting married, and she wouldn't even be there to see it...
