Scene (part 1)
A/n: I miss the early 2000s so much dude they were the best years of my life. Luckily for me DN is set in the early 2000s. I think about scene L on the daily. He lives in my head rent free. This ones a bit shorter bc I have a few things to do tonight.
Prompt: you and L have to go undercover to a party to watch a suspect. So you have to blend in, you dress L up as the true emo-scene kid he is.
"What? I never agreed to that"
"L were meant to look like high schoolers. This is what they're wearing now days"
L looked down at the black skinny jeans, band shirt and checkered belt you held out for him.
"Why so dark?" He asked.
"Because you have emo hair. You'd fit in as an emo scene kid. I have to dress up too it's not like you're one only one doing this" You replied.
He sighed, taking the clothes and bag of accessories, leaving to get changed. You were actually pretty exited to see what he looked like. Plus, you've heard him listen to MCR before, he fits it.
You went off to get changed yourself, donning a pair of stripy thigh socks, ripped up denim shorts with wallet chains, converse, a band shirt with kandi bracelets and a choker. You looked like all the kids on MySpace at the moment. Topping the look up with some makeup, pulling your hair into the right style and adding a fake piercing.
"God, I look like someone going to warped tour. Kinda slaps though..." you mumbled to yourself.
You heard the door open behind you, turning to see a very uncomfortable L. He looked totally normal in such emo clothes. Like not much had changed at all, he looked good.
"Ok What's these for?" He asked, handing you back the bag.
Inside were hair supplies, of course he didn't know what to do with them, this man probably hasn't picked up a hairbrush in years. You sat him in front of the mirror, taking the brush and teasing his hair a bit, you didn't have to do much, his hair already had the classic emo swoosh.
"Alright, last thing to add..." you said, pulling some coloured hair extensions out.
"What are they?" L asked.
"Coon tails, they clip into your hair"
You clipped one in, messing it up into his real hair a little, and you were done.
The fact that all the jelly bracelets and fishnet gloves looked normal on him was kind of amusing. Now, you just had to head down to the party and blend in, tail the suspect and get out undetected.
"Alright, lets go" you said, grabbing your bag and heading downstairs.
When you reached the bottom, the taskforce turned to look at you ready to start the mission. But when L followed they were left speechless. All expect for Misa.
"Oh my god! You guys look so good! Scene queens" she smiled, walking over to examine your outfits.
Of course her goth ass liked it.
"Kandi, Chains, Band shirts, chokers, you've got it all. You'll blend in perfectly"
She turned to L, examining his outfit.
"Why does it totally look natural on him?" She laughed.
"Because he's emo at heart" you joked.
"It's the hair isn't it?"
"It's definitely the hair"
"I don't see why my hair is so emo" L said.
"Dude, you have the fluffy swoosh, the choppy fringe, it's black. It's classic emo" Misa replied.
The taskforce finally snapped out of their shocked daze, finally speaking up.
"I'm so conflicted, it looks out of place but natural at the same time on L" Light said.
"Can we just get the mission started?" L sighed.
The taskforce gave you all the things you needed and you hid them in your bag and under your clothes. Handcuffs, pepper spray, fake student IDs. And with that, it was off to the party. You played all the current emo music on the way there to get in the character, jamming to it as you did. It was good, not gonna lie. When you finally pulled up, you double checked everything in the mirrors and psyched yourself up.
"Alright. People will definitely ask for your MySpace. Just say some edgy sounding screen name like XX_deaddoll_XX. If someone asks your favourite song, play it safe and say something MCR, when they ask where you shop say Hot Topic, we got this" you said.
"You know an awful lot about this subculture" L said.
"I may have never really left my emo phase... and you're one to talk. I know you never really left it either"
Getting out of the car, you head the sounds of I wrote sins not tragedies playing from the party. Saw a few people out the front in the classic scene look drinking monsters and a few smoking. As much as you had the urge to party, you needed to stay on track and find the suspect. You looked at L, who was slightly bobbing his head to the music you knew he secretly listened to.
In all honestly, he made a smoking hot MySpace emo king. You held out a hand for him, ready to walk in pretending to be an emo couple.
"This better not take all night" he said, taking your hand.
"Alright emo boy, lets go"
