Hc: your parents don't approve of L, even though they've never met him. But do you care? No. After months of them non-stop yelling at you to break up with him, you finally snap. NO ONE insults your man.

Anyone would think that dating the worlds greatest detective would make your family happy. A rich, protective, safety driven man who can provide for and defend you sounds like the perfect man to anyone right? Well... not your parents.

For some reason they just straight up didn't approve of him, they hadn't even met him. You both offered to set up a date to meet but they wouldn't even give it a shot. Of course you didn't tell L about this, you didn't want to hurt his already delicate feelings or anything.

But after so long you just get so sick of it...

What did L have to do to prove he's worth it? He'd already let you stay with him during a flash flood so you weren't hurt, he'd jumped in to stop someone swinging at you while walking home, he'd paid for you on multiple occasions despite you insisting to pay yourself, he's been nothing but good to you and he'd not done anything to offend you parents. He literally hadn't even met them!

How can your parents be so quick to judge? They were worried that being around him was too dangerous, there's no surprise that L had TONS of criminals after him, but he's never been hurt by one before. He goes all out for security and never gives a real name out in public.

Today that negativity ended. You weren't putting up with this anymore, you'd been with L for ages now, and suddenly when you feel comfortable enough to tell your parents you have a relationship they bash it? Not happening on your watch.

Your parents didn't know where taskforce was, and there were more than enough free floors so you were going to straight up move in. And most likely share L's floor.

That would definitely spite your parents if they knew.

"HOW CAN YOU EVEN SAY THAT? YOU HAVEN'T EVEN MET HIM?" You screamed.

"HES DANGEROUS!"

"HE'S DANGEROUS? HES THE WORLDS GREATEST DETECTIVE! Let me get this straight, you let your youngest daughter date a crackhead for three years but you won't let your oldest date the one man in the whole world that can arrest ANYONE"

"I don't trust someone who doesn't even give a girl HIS REAL NAME!" Your mother screamed.

"FOR GOOD REASON! KIRA IS OUT THERE! NONE OF US SHOULD BE TELLING EACH OTHER OUR REAL NAMES!"

"Your going to regret this"

"Really? Then why have I stayed with him for ages now? I'll regret falling in love with a man that would take a bullet for me? The man that can put anyone that wrongs be behind bars? I'LL REGRET A LITERAL FALLEN ANGEL?" You exclaimed.

Your mother have you a frustrated and angry look.

"We want to protect you (y/n)"

"And so does he! That's why he has me wear THREE emergency contact buttons! He takes care of me, he's providing for me, he's protecting me, why won't you even TRY to meet him?"

"I'm done talking about this (y/n) I don't like that boy"

"You're saying you don't support L? So what you're a Kira supporter or something?"

"(Y/n) don't say that-"

"Not only would L protect me, HE'D GLADY PROTECT THE WHOLE FAMILY IF YOU'D JUST GIVE HIM A CHANCE! I'm done with this, I know him better than anyone else does, he's the LAST person that would hurt me"

You turn on your heels and storm upstairs to your room. You had always planned this but today was the day it happened, that was the last straw. Controlling parents are ok up to a point, you're an adult, and they STILL try and control your life. You pulled out your suit case and began to empty the drawers. Living with L would be so much more fun and freeing than here.

You stuffed everything you could into your suitcase and grabbed any other bag you had and stuffed them too. Grabbing clothes, your toothbrush and hairbrush, phone, laptop, chargers, childhood toys, your books and DVDs, art supplies and anything else you needed. You ended up with a suitcase, two backpacks and a handbag. When the household fell into a slumber, you ripped a piece of paper and wrote a note, sticking it to your bedroom door.

Look guys. You're just too controlling, I'm an adult for fuck sakes, let me live my own life and love who I want. I'm going to live with him and there's nothing you can do to stop me. I went willingly and I'm in a safe place, let me make that clear I WANT TO LIVE WITH HIM. Reporting me missing in the midst of a tantrum won't do anything because I've clearly started I went on my own and I'm a legal adult. If you find me you'll be met with security you can't break through. When you all want to pull your heads out of your asses give me a call.

You made sure that note would be seen and proceed to take your bags and climb out your window, dropping your bags into the trampoline and climbing down the side of the house on the plant crawler. You grabbed your things, went around the side fence and walked all the way to taskforce. Not a worry in the world that you were out at night on your own. Not only were you in a well lit area of the city, you had emergency buttons in your belt and necklaces L gave you.

Just as you knew you would, you reached taskforce unharmed, legs a little sore from the long walk but you didn't care. You buzzed yourself through security and when you reached the monitor room you saw L up and watching the rest of the taskforce over the cameras.

You dropped your bags and let out a loud sigh, making L jump and turn to face you.

"(Y/n), what- did you walk all the way here? It's past midnight what are you doing?" He asked, getting up and walking over.

"I'm not living in a house where a legal adult can't do her own shit anymore. Hope there's room in your bed because I'm staying here" you replied, still pissed off.

L knew this would happen eventually. As an orphan he was always under the mindset to be thankful you even had parents who tried to protect you, but with how controlling your parents were he knew it wasn't the best situation. If Watari controlled him like that he'd probably go crazy.

"Why didn't you call me? I could have picked you up" he asked.

"If my parents woke up and saw you they'd tear you a new one. I don't know why they want me to stay so badly"

You half lied there, conveniently keeping the fact your parents for some reason hated him out of the picture. The part about them ripping into him was true though.

"Well you could have told me to meet you in a specific place"

"...oh yeah, I guess I was just too angry to think straight" you sighed.

L sighed and picked up your backpacks.

"Well, better unpack"

You followed him up to his floor and you both made room for your stuff and unpacked it. It wasn't that hard since most of L's clothes consisting of the very colourful closet of... white shirts and blue jeans, was pretty easy to organise to make room for your stuff.

By the time you finished everything it was 3am, and you were pretty tired. So you dragged L to bed with you to cuddle away your remaining anger and get the rest you both needed.

The next morning you awoke at about 10, having slept in from being up so late. You picked up your phone to see a plethora of missed called and angry text messages from your parents. You weren't having that at all.

You: say one more negative thing about him and I'm blocking you all. I walked for fucking ages last night and I'm tired and not in the mood for this bullshit. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm turning my phone on silent as to not wake my LOVING BOYFRIEND.

You hit send and you were about to turn it off when you immediately saw the typing bubble pop up. You hoped L wouldn't wake up and see the messages as he was leaning up against you as he slept. You didn't want him to know that your parents hated him.

Everything that came from that typing bubble was negative so you just straight up blocked the number. You saw a message from your sister, who had stayed really quiet through all the arguing with your parents. You wanted to know what she had to say before you turned your phone off and went to go make breakfast for you and L.

Sis: hey, just thought I'd mention that I'm on your side for all this. It's dumb that mum and dad won't even give him a chance. Also, the fact that they sat by and did nothing when I was dating a dick and when you date probably the best man you could ever find in the world they freak out? I don't get it. Between you and me, I'd actually love to meet him.

You smiled, at least you had SOMEONE on your side.

You: wow thanks for actually having a brain lol. I can make a date to meet, just don't tell mum and dad.

As you sent the message you felt L move against you, as he began to wake up.

"What's all that pining?" He tiredly asked.

"My phone, sorry. I was just about to put it in silent" you replied.

He sat up, rubbing his eyes.

"I should get up anyway we have the case to solve" he yawned.

"Yeah we better get up. How was actually sleeping for once? Thank me when you don't burn out at your desk again" you replied.

"It was only good because you were there"

You smiled, shaking your head.

"You're a suck up. I'll make breakfast what do you want?"

"Uh... buttercream pancakes?"

"Of course. By the way, how would you like to meet the only sane one in my family?"

TIME SKIPPY

Your parents looked at the post on your social media page as a news report about the closure of the Kira case played in the background. They started at that photo of their daughter and her boyfriend- now fiancé of three years who they hadn't talked to since she left their home. She looked so happy with that engagement ring, so happy with that boy.

It was the first time they'd seen him too. They didn't even look at your socials after you left in anger. So when your sister happily announced that you got engaged and said the pictures were on your socials they had a bit of a shock.

L looked happy, tired, but happy. They now knew what he looked like, tall, thin, dark eyes, thick and messy black hair, pale skin, mixed ethnicity as he was half Japanese half British, dark eyebags from tirelessly working on a relentless case.

Now that they'd been proven wrong, that all this tome had passed and you were still happily together they realised they were in the wrong. Still mad at your for leaving, but happy for you since you were getting married to the love of your life.

They wondered... would you invite them to your wedding?
