Princess and the frog

A/n: I suggested this as a joke but you GUUYYSSS. OK I'LL DO IT.

Au: princess and the frog

The pond just outside the castle walls was where you spent most of your time, royal life is tiring and you often needed a bit of a break. It was quite calming there, not only because of the scenery, but the sounds of the frogs. The pond was full of them, and they'd sound at night a lot.

Although tonight was a bit different, you'd been unable to visit the pond as you'd had a ball that ended quite late. But not was time for bed, nightgown on, tiara off and ready to go to sleep. You went to go close the doors to the balcony when you heard something. A frog.

It was close, which was unusual. You stepped outside and looked around for the source of the noise, eventually finding a small green frog on the railing.

"Well aren't you a long way from home? How did you even get up here?" You giggled, putting your hands on your hips.

You didn't want the frog to dry up and die, so you carefully picked him up and took him inside where you filled a bowl with water and let him sit in it.

"I'll take you back to the pond tomorrow ok?"

And that's what you did, when day broke, you took the frog back to the pond. He seemed happy to be back in his natural environment, but to your surprise...

The following night you'd gone to close the doors to the balcony again, only to hear a frog for the second time. And in the same spot on the railing was the same frog.

"What are you doing up here again?" You asked.

Alas, he didn't respond. He was a frog.

"Come on, I'll take you home tomorrow"

You repeated the process of putting in in a bowl of water and taking him home the next morning again... and then again the next night, and again, and again.

It became a trend. Every night you'd take the frog inside, let him sit in a bowl, then take him home the next morning, then he'd be on your railing again. This frog seemed to like human attention, and you hadn't a clue why. But you let him do this, eventually he's just start following you around, the frog was everywhere you went.

Until one faithful day.

Sitting at your desk late at night, tiara beside your pens as you wrote the letters to nearby kingdoms you had to send. The frog, sitting on a book watching you. You almost dropped your pen when you saw him jump from the books to your tiara.

"Ah! Goodness, don't scare me like that" you laughed, taking him off and putting him back on the book.

He just jumped into the tiara again. When you took him off, he jumped again. And again. And again.

"What is it? Why do you like my tiara so much?" You asked.

Frogs can't exactly talk, so you didn't know what you expected to hear as a response.

"Is it the shiny crystals?"

The frog looked at you, then the tiara, then back at you. As if... he was trying to tell you something... you tilted your head in confusion. This frog followed you... stayed with you... was ok with you handling him... why?

Why was this frog so interested in you?

Unless...

You remembered the tale of the price who was cursed to be tuned into a frog by some evil magic from when you were little. Your mother told it to you, according to her it was a true story. And the only way to break the spell was with a kiss from a princess.

And this frog seemed to like your tiara...

"Frog... are you trying to tell me something?" You asked.

You didn't expect anything, but to your surprise... he nodded.

"Yes? What is it?"

He looked at the tiara again, then back at you.

"Could it be... you once wore a precious piece on your head?"

He nodded again... so he could understand you.

All signs were pointing to this frog being the one from the tales, it seemed impossible, but he was responding to your language.

"A kiss huh..? I suppose I could kiss a frog... if it really worked that is..." you mumbled.

This time he nodded furiously, and tried to jump at you, but you caught him mid-jump.

"Slow down buddy. Are you sure it'd work? It's just a fairytale isn't it?"

He tried to jump at you again, this time landing on your head.

"I'll take that as a yes..."

You took him in your hands, the small frog looked up at you. You couldn't believe you were about to do this. Slowly and gently, you placed a kiss on the frogs head, cringing a bit at the slimy wet feeling. He was a frog after all. You put him down, watched for a moment, but nothing happened.

"Oh well... I just kissed a frog for nothing..."

You turned back to your letters, but couldn't even pick up yo pen when you saw a glow from beside you. It was the frog, he was glowing. So you didn't kiss a frog for nothing, it was actually working! The glow got brighter, brighter, until you had to shield your eyes from the blinding light.

When it died down, you turned to see none other than a prince. A boy about your age, dressed in blue and white attire, a crown on his head. Messy black hair, pale skin and dark eyes.

"Oh my god... it worked. You are the frog prince!" You exclaimed.

He sat on the floor rubbing his temples.

"That's me... god being a frog for so long makes your muscles hurt..." he mumbled.

Now that you got a better look at him... he seemed familiar.

"May I know the princes name?" You asked, holding out a hand.

He took it, pulling himself up with your grip. He brushed off his clothes and bowed.

"Prince Lawliet, of Wammys kingdom. Now... where exactly I?" He asked.

"Prince LAWLIET?! The prince that went missing 11 years ago?" You exclaimed.

"It's been 11 years?"

"I'm afraid so, I'm princess (y/n), of (l/n) kingdom. Your kingdom is a few kilometres from our borders, I'm sure they'll be glad to see you again"

"Thank you, (y/n). I know it must have been annoying to keep having to take care of me, but I noticed you were a princess when you started to visit the pond, you were my only hope of breaking the curse" he explained.

"It's ok, I rather liked your company" you replied.

"I did enjoy yours too, I cannot express enough gratitude for getting me out of this mess"

"That's quite alright, you should get some sleep. You look very tired, and we can contact your kingdom tomorrow"

"Thank you. So much"

He took your hand, placing a kiss on the knuckles as every prince does to a princess. But this one... felt different. And now that you look at him, he was pretty cute.

Oh god... you've just fallen for the frog prince.
