So no oneshot today bc I'm finishing a few new requests. But I have some tea to spill. I've been in this fandom for a while. And I love the show, I never want to leave. But I see some stuff others dint since I dive so deep into the dark places of the fandom. I like to know everything about fandoms I'm in. And those I'm not. Like a fandom detective.

So here's a few hot takes I don't think the fandom is ready to accept yet, but they exist, and should eventually be addressed.

Gonna start. By saying this fandom is the least toxic I've ever seen, but all fandoms have a bad side.

•this is a dying fandom. We can revive it, but no one what's to accept it's dying. Which is just making it die faster.

•theres ageism in the fandom. Not everyone, but there's a lot of adults that look down on minors in the fandom because they're older, they've 'been around longer'. They think they're high and mighty and try to shut down younger fans. If their opinion is different from theirs.

•Death Note is an odd case of a 'therapy fandom'. Meaning lots of fans latch onto characters for emotional support and take hate towards that character a lot harsher. You're allowed to vocally dislike a character, but making harmful fun of them as well as their fans is hurtful. It needs to stop.

•tumblr DN fandom is full of amazing art and talented people, but also where most of the toxic fans reside.

•some ships are absolutely disgusting and extremely toxic and shouldn't be condoned. But y'all wanna keep fetishising gay ships. (Not all ships, but some are horrible and seriously problematic)

•veteran fans cant accept fandom culture has changed. Shit that you did in the early 2000s wouldn't fly now days honey, get with the times.

Now I wouldn't be surprised if some of you never noticed these things, because you do have to dig quite a bit to see it. But it's there and really shouldn't be. I can go into detail on each point if enough people would read it. And for the record I'd say that the wattpad side of the fandom is the least toxic.

The fandom isn't that toxic to begin with, its actually very tame, but like I said. All fandoms have bad parts. The wattpad DN fandom is very wholesome and supportive of each other and I'd say it's because we're all on the same page here. We're all readers/writers and we're all nice to each other because we support each others work. In fact, building on the ageism point the adults I've talked to on here have been very kind (unlike other platforms, thats a story for another day).

But god can someone please just whip out their Death Note and write the names of these toxic ass "my way to not at all" fans?

There aren't many, but the few there are, are vocal. Like I said you'd have to dig around a bit (mainly on tumblr) to find them but they exist.

Why can't we just all like each other and respect each other's decisions? Damn.

Ok rant over. I'll go finish those oneshots now. I didn't expect to get so many requests in a short burst since I made that last post about needing ideas. I'm covered for a while now lol.
