This is long so be ready. BUT here's all my prominent AUs! I decided to give the details on each one so you understand them and then open them to requests since my requests and inspiration are pretty dry atm.

Let's start with some doodles

1. Monster [i have a whole other story for this, but I'm willing to do oneshots not related to it]

FIRST THINGS FIRST.

I'm going to explain the monster AU to you all so those who don't know can become informed.

This is the story of death note but every character is a 'monster' aka supernatural/mythical creature. Humans exist but are very very rare. Some humans don't mind monsters and live in harmony with them, but some humans hate monsters and wish them dead.

The rules of the world are:
•No monster can't use magic to kill, if they kill its physical.
•The three classes of magic are pure (magic of healing/good), neutral (not good or bad), and black magic (harmful/evil).
•every monster has a 'hostile form' even pure monsters (although it's verrryy rare for a pure one to go hostile) this form basically heightens their powers and makes them stronger.
•Shinigami have their own realm like in the normal story and are still considered a myth. They are the ONLY creatures that have the power to kill.
•it is possible to be a hybrid of two creatures.
•a human can not perform magic. A creature that looks and works like a human but has the ability to perform magic is still considered a monster.

L is a night crawler
What is a night crawler?

A creature of neutral magic that is born without a purpose. All other monsters are born with one, but not night crawlers.

They emit a black substance, basically an ectoplasm. They constantly cry it, even when they aren't sad. They constantly drip it from their hair and limbs. Hence why L is stained with black. All of their bodily fluids are this substance, tears, blood, spit, *cough* sexual things, everything.

Their eyes are all black, no noticeable iris or pupil. Just black.

The heart on their chest is the only thing that won't drip black, it doesn't drip nearly as much as the black ectoplasm but it's still enough to stain.

They can float, meaning they don't always need limbs. They can summon their hands and feet at will and they are always completely black.

When they are provoked, or in need of self defence, they will go hostile. Their teeth turn sharp and mouth widens, they grow claws and will make a hissing/cicada like sounds. Their voice will go all echoey and demonic sounding too. They become increasingly faster and stronger. A dark aura will appear around them. Night crawlers are also quite rare.

When peaceful they are very quiet and soft spoken, they prefer to float then stand. Washing a night crawler is hard since they don't stop dripping ectoplasm but they still need to bathe. When they have to go out, they'll hold an umbrella under their feet so they don't drip all over the place. Watari stops L from staining everything with his ectoplasm by lining the floors with plastic painting sheets and switching them out every couple of days. L will wear gloves to not stain anything. Night crawlers are very sensitive to lights and prefer the dark, in the light they are partially colour blind. L barely ever goes hostile, he's very peaceful and will only go hostile when provoked.

Light is a demon.

He's born to pure magic parents but got genes of black magic through his family's bloodline. Basically it skips a generation. He has horns and red tattoo like vein marks all up his body apart from his head. His eyes glow red.

When hostile, he growls, hisses and can cast black magic spells. His hands also turn to claws. When peaceful he's pretty much human apart from his physical features. He's still Kira and Ryuk still follows him.

Misa is a succubus. A creature of neutral magic. She has purple devil like wings and a tail, she has glowing purple eyes and a purple heart birthmark in each arm. She can fly and has the power to seduce anyone at  will and take their sexual energy. She can collect this energy through touch.

Think of it like this - touching someone is a bite, kissing is a snack, sex is a meal. She eats normal food to satisfy hunger but sleep won't replenish her energy, she has to take it through touch, kiss or sex. She's selective with who she seduces and still has morals, she will only take energy from those who consent. She is still the second Kira and rem still follows her.

When hostile she has gains extra strength and grows vampire like fangs.

The other members of the taskforce are:

Matsuda: woodland spirit
A pure magic creature that looks pretty elf like, they heal nature and can talk to animals. When hostile they can summon forces of nature like wind, thunder and lightning to attack someone.
Aizawa: fire elemental
Kind of like a fire bender, they can control fire. They are of neutral magic and have a very short temper, when hostile their whole body lights on fire and it doesn't damage them because they're are fire resistant. The air gets warmer as they get angrier because of their heat. They glow orange because of their inner fire.
Mr Yagami: Light spark
A creature of pure magic that can channel electricity and light. Their eyes and fingertips glow at all times and when hostile their whole body will glow so bright it can blind people. They can control lightning, turn on electronics without a socket, emit light and provide power. Example: if your phone was dead, they could hold the end of the charger and it would charge.
Ide: Sprite
A mystic creature of pure magic that is composed of a magic galaxy looking dust substance. They can heal both nature and living things. When hostile they turn to blue flames and can burn anything they touch within seconds.
Mogi: wraith
Ghost like creatures of neutral magic, they have no ill intent, they protect whatever they are assigned to protect. They are very strong and silent, they are see through and have the form of a human, they can float and when hostile they make creepy echoey ghost moans and can vanish completely apart from glowing red eyes.
Ukita: canima
Human form reptilian creatures of neutral magic. They have lizard tails and are lined with patches of scales, have slit pulpits and a forked tongue. They are very fast and have a venomous bite, but that can control when their bite is venomous. They are kind of like snakes. When hostile they rely on their bite and speed and will hiss at you.

Watari: spell maker.
A creature of neutral magic that has the ability to create spells and potions while not even having the power needed to create said spell. Example, if night crawler ectoplasm is needed for a potion, he could make that potion without it with a magic touch. Presents pretty much completely human apart form glowing neon green eyes, when hostile they rely on their spells and potions to defend themselves. Basically, they are the only ones that can perform magic from all three classes.
Near: Fox Yōkai
A creature of neutral magic that has fox ears and a tail that match their hair colour and fox like eyes. They are very fast, have an amazing sense of smell and have the ability to talk to animals. When hostile they grow fangs and claws and will growl, they act very fox like. They have the body of a human apart from the ears and tail.
Mello: dragon hybrid
Neutral magic creatures that have the body of a human but have dragon wings, tail and horns. They can fly, have sharp teeth and can breathe fire. When hostile they rely on their strength to fight and fire breathing. Mello has black wings and a black tail (w/tail fins) brown horns and black scales across his cheeks and nose like freckles.
Matt: imp
Sometimes small, sometimes normal sized (Matt's normal) neural magic creatures that love to play pranks and cause mischief. They can perform magic that affects the body (temporary paralysis, muting someone, blinding them, deafening them etc. all effects are temporary) and have basic control over elements they have the form of a human but are lined with glowing crack-like markings all over their arms and chest as well as glowing eyes in a cat like slit shape. Their voices are echoey and when hostile they rely on their powers and increased speed to fight.

Naomi: Ankoku
Creatures of pure magic, although it is debated weather they should be neutral or pure. They present as human but have the ability to summon tendrils around them to fight for them. They can teleport and little sparks  drop off them as they walk around. When hostile, they will stare at you, just sitting there as their tendrils do all the fighting for them. But if their tendrils fail them, they can really back a punch as they have lots of muscle and will kick the fuck out of you until you're knocked out, all while staring at you with empty eyes to scare you.
Sayu: Light spark and pixie hybrid with the same powers as her parents. She has the glow of a Light spark and wings of a pixie.
Sachiko: pixie
A pure magic creature with butterfly like wings, that can perform healing magic. No one actually knows what they're like when they go hostile because they're shy about showing their hostile side.

NOW ONTO THE WORLD.

The world is exactly like the normal world of
Death note, except it's crawling with monsters and magic. Only 3% of the earths population is humans with no magic. Humans can not perform any kind of magic or spell at all. Most humans are ok with monsters being the majority of the population but there's a terrorist organisation of monster hunters, humans who detest monsters and try to kill them. Who runs them? The biggest human run organisation, Yotsuba. Of course no one actually knows that Yotsuba are behind it all, to the world Yotsuba is just a normal business and have nothing to do with the monster hunters. Yotsuba is run by humans and only has humans workers. Monsters are always giving humans a second chance as they understand that not all humans want them dead and it's just the hunters. The world is built like the normal world on Death Note, but there are a few changes. There are river sidewalks for all the water based creatures, there are while underwater cities and cities in the sky for air and water bases creatures. Magic is taught in schools and the humans who can't perform magic are instead taught about all the different species in more detail.

The world doesn't know who L is, they don't know if he's a monster or human. Like in the anime he's a shadow to the world. Same goes for Kira, although they definitely know he's a monster of some kind because of his killing methods.

When Kira arose, lots of humans turned to the monster hunters side because they were thinking monsters were getting out of control, that's if they didn't turn into Kira supporters. Very few humans were on L's side. As for the monsters it's very split. Pure magic creatures are all on L's side, black magic creatures are on Kiras and neutral ones are either indifferent or split. Some are on L's side some are on Kira's.

As for the world outside Kira and L, the world is built mainly on magic, meaning lots of elegant looking places. Music as a major thing in this world and many creatures are taught how to either play an instrument, sing or dance from a young age as it has been worked into tradition and some spells are performed through dance.

2. Dance

Light is the best dancer in Japan, Tap being his forte. He transfers to a prestigious studio in England to train better and compete for Mr international soloist. But the studio already has a star dancer. The only male ballerina L. L has won many awards, can dance en pointe and takes his craft very very seriously.

There are four other runner-up star dancers though.

Misa, a contemporary dancer who as amazing as conveying emotion through dance.
Near, a ballroom dancer who has amazing technique.
Mello, a breakdancer who's footwork and stamina are top of the class.
And Matt, an acro dancer who's so flexible the judges are always shocked by his moves.

When they start to prepare for the international completions, both L and Light want to be the male soloist and are competing for the ranking. L is a safe choice because he's been at the studio since he was a toddler and has won these types of competitions before. Light is a risk but due to his past performances it may be worth it.

They compete for the title BUT are forced to work together with the other four in a group dance to represent the studio.

3. Kingdoms

The kingdom of Kira and the Kingdom of Wammys are opposing kingdoms.

L is the next in line for king and has three younger princes after him (Mello, Matt, Near).

Light has just taken over as king for his kingdom and is to be wed to the soon to be queen Misa.

Because L is the oldest prince he takes a lot of responsibility in running the kingdom alongside Watari the current king. Kira wants to wage war, or find some other way to overthrow Wammys. So they start killing of civilians in the kingdom and L has to solve the case and find out who the killer is to stop his kingdom from falling to Kira.

4. Animal souls

Death note but everyone has the soul of an animal. So basically everyone is a hybrid. Human body, animal features. Same plot just slightly different with the characters.

L- Frog.
Long tounge
Jumps super high
Frog like pupils
Slightly green skin around the cheeks and eyes
Likes the warm and the water.

Light - snake.
Fangs
Forked tonge
Scale patches on skin
Drags out s and z sounds. "Ryuzzzzaki ssshut the fuck up"
Hisses
Sunbathes a lot.

Near - sheep
Hair=FLOOF
Little horns on the side of his head
Pretty quiet, likes the warm and soft places to rest.

Mello - eagle
Wings
Sharp nails
Can fly and make bird screeches
Killer eyesight

Matt - dog
Floppy dog ears
Waggy tail
Bork Bork
Head pats are his drug.
Will growl at you and bite of threatened
Can hear and smell really well

5. L has Dissociative Identity Disorder (have  short story for this too, but again I'm willing to do oneshots)

L, who has had trauma in his past has DID (multiple personalities) his 'aliases' are actually alters.

L Lawliet is the host, the original personality born into the body. He matched what the body looks like.

Ryuzaki is the primary protector.

Hideki Ryuga is a trauma holder.

Denevue is a little (child alter)

And Coil is a gatekeeper.

They all work together to keep the system safe and solve crimes. In fact here's a doodle of the system members I did ages ago.

6.merfolk

Basically death note but mermaids. Each character is is a different type of fish related mermaid.

Because L likes the dark he's an angler fish.
Light is an orca (because he's a Kira whale)
Misa is an angel fish
Near is a dolphin
Mello is a shark
Matt is a sea lion.

Deep under the sea there's a hidden world of merfolk. Some of which chose to use temporary legs to live in land. Light finds the DN as usual while he's living in land and does the whole Kira thing. L who lives by the beach and prefers the water sees this Kira thing and decides to take the case on land. So he and light not only have to hide their identities but the fact they're merfolk too. And lots of their fighting is taken to under the water.

7. Dragon trainers. (HTTYD AU)

L is a rouge dragon rider who fights dragon hunters (Kira). No one knows what he looks like because he strikes at night and wears a full set of armour and helmet. Not to mention his fast as lighting Night Fury blends into the night sky. Light, known as Kira, wants to hunt the last night fury down and will stop at nothing until he's got the wings of Ls dragon mounted on his walls. No matter how many other dragons have to die.

And finally the k-12 crossover.

Where L is basically crybaby. (You'd be like a mix of all the love interests)

So, L who has a few powers goes to a corrupt school where he meets others with the same powers and plots to try and burn the school down to defeat the evil staff and students.
