I don't know why I was chosen for this, but I suppose I do somewhat deserve it.

Chapter Three
In which everything she cares about is gone.
Or
In which she's left solely in the hands of an insane person.
———
A small forest stands before us. Thor has gone into the forest to fight Stark. Loki and I sit on a small outcropping of rock nearby. He still has cuffs on, so he can't do anything, and I'm too shaken by the experience of you know, falling out of a plane.
"My love's name was Sigyn." Lokis voice cuts through the thick air.
"She had blue eyes. When we had our child, we weren't sure what color the eyes would be. Blue or green. They turned out green, but Sigyn would have been over the moon if they'd been blue. If she'd gotten to see them, even.
"She died during childbirth. I was devastated. My light was gone. One light flickers out... but another climbs to take its place. My daughter- her name was Leif. She was beautiful. Green eyes, light brown hair.. perfectly smooth skin... then they took her. My father deemed me unfit to regain custody of Leif, and she was sent to Midgard. I don't know exactly where she is, but she would have inherited some of mine and Sigyn's powers. My sorcery, and Sigyn's nature spells." He smiles somberly. I can tell that this 'Sigyn' was obviously extremely important to him.
"I'm sorry for your loss," I say, "but why are you telling me this?"
"I don't know. I feel a connection to you. I was in your shoes, once. Someone... different. A frost giant with Asgardians. An Asgardian with Midgardians." He looks to his hands. "You remind me of myself. I can see spirit in you. But you don't let it out. Why is that, I wonder?"
"I don't know what you're talking about. Oh, um, about earlier. How did you save me? From your badly-done evil lair ceiling crushing me to death? That green misty stuff.. you weren't even in the room."
His eye raises. "Ah, so you don't know. That's interesting. I'm sure some Midgardian knows. I'd assume that witty one who seems to be in charge of this little.. operation knows."
"Know what? Are you talking about Fury? The one with an eyepatch?" I frown. I open my mouth to ask more questions, but I'm interrupted.
"Brother," we look up. Loki's brother stands before us. He's giant, easily twice my height.
"Yes, 'brother'?" Loki sneers.
"You will be tried for your crimes on Asgard after we are done here. Who is the girl?" Thor asks.
"Why would I know or care, 'brother'?" The green and gold man narrows his eyes before standing, and allowing Thor to put Asgardian cuffs on him. The five of us, me, Loki, Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America, all walk back to the plane in silence. I feel the eyes of both Thor and Loki on me, but I try to ignore it. Once we get back to the jet, Nat flies all of us back to the SHIELD Hovercraft. My dad meets us on the deck, and I smile, running over to him.
"Dad!" I throw my arms around him, and he chuckles, returning the gesture. Natasha leads Loki away to a cell, and he gives me a knowing smirk. Creepy. Dad goes over to Captain America, and introducing himself, slighly fanboying. I snicker, although I'm inwardly fangirling, too. After introductions, we all head inside. The 'Avengers', as Fury is calling them, have a meeting, while I roam around the ship. I eventually settle by a window, watching the clouds float by.
Lokis words and strange behavior float through my mind, as I contemplate what to do. Confront Fury? Loki is probably just messing with me, he is the god of lies, right? But it all feels too... genuine. And he really did seem wistful when talking about Sigyn.
A strange speck appears in the distance. I squint, trying to make it out.
"What the.." It gets closer, and my eyes widen as I see it's some sort of helicopter, but it doesn't have any SHIELD logos. I turn to go warn the rest of the ship, but there's a big jolt, and I fall, my head slamming into the wall. I fall to the floor, blood dripping from my nose, disoriented. Sparks are flying around the corridor, and small fires rage outside. Wisps of green dissipate. That's.. weird. I keep seeing that.
I push myself to my feet, stumbling towards Loki's cell. I don't know what I'm going to do, but I have to at least try to stop him from escaping. I open the door, seeing my dad with some sort of gun thing. He's looking around. Loki's cell is empty.
"Dad-" The world suddenly slows, as he looks over to meet my eyes, and suddenly, a spear is through his chest. Blood drips. Drips. Down, down, down, to the floor. My eyes widen, and I rush forward. Loki steps back, a smirk on his face.
"Oh, oops." He wrenches the spear out, shoving my dad's body down the hole left by the cell falling out of the Hovercraft. My ears are ringing, and my hands are covered in blood. My father's blood. I can't move. I can't breathe. Loki walks over, placing his hand on my shoulder. "If it makes you feel better, he wasn't your real father anyways. I do so hope you figure it out. Good luck, child."
What? That can't be right. Dad.. of course he's my father, I'm his daughter. I step towards the hole, looking down at the calm clouds below. My mind is blank. My hands are still stained with blood. Loki sighs, and with a push of his hand, I'm falling. Falling.

Air whisks past me, and I feel weightless, a feather on the wind. And then, everything fades to black.

Ding. I blink. What? The toaster?
"Seriously, hon, a good breakfast is the most important part of the day." What? Dad? I'm confused. I.. died. Right? I fell. He died, so how is he here. I run to him, throwing my arms around him. "Whoa, kiddo. You OK?"
I silently nod. That was all a dream. A.. surprisingly real dream, but a dream nonetheless. I smile. It's OK. I'm OK. "Yeah, yeah. Just... tired. I guess."

I don't think I ever really feel rested, after the first time. Although I don't know. I don't remember. It's all blurring.
