This is fine. It always starts off ok. It gets worse before it gets better, though, right?

Chapter One
In which a new beginning starts.
Or
In which the cycle starts.
_____
I hate Mondays. Maybe it's because that's when Dad has to go to work again, but I think it's because the universe (and Mondays) just dislike me.
So, of course today has to be Monday.
Something about today feels different. More important. Ehh. Who cares.
Dad told me that he's taking me to SHEILD with him today, so maybe that's it?
Anyways, I'm supposed to be downstairs by now, so I quickly pull on a pair of leggings and a Captain American hoodie.
As I walk to the kitchen, I rub the sleep out of my eyes, and check my phone. No messages, as usual, and the only notifications are settings, calendar, or game updates. Most of them I forgot I even had, so I make a mental note to delete them.
Once in the kitchen, I water the plants, and grab a piece of bread, before popping it into the toaster. Dad walks into the room, wearing his usual suit, and I walk over to give him a hug.
"Morning, Dad. Sleep well?" I ask, walking back to the toaster to wait for the toast to finish.
"Yeah, I slept good. Leo, we talked about this. You need to be eating better meals then toast. You're going to be made of toast one day, and who wants that! I'm serious, though, please try to eat healthier?" He starts a coffee, and I 'hmph' in his direction.
"Says the person who doesn't eat breakfast," I reply, smirking.
"Do too!" He closes his eyes, making a face at me, "You just conveniently don't see it!"
I give him a 'suuuure' look, and we both laugh. The toast machine 'ding's, and I pull it out and lather butter and jam on it, before taking a large bite.
"Oh, Dad? You told me you'd be taking me to SHEILD, what's that about?" I question.
"Oh, nothing, Fury just wanted a weapons trained non-SHEILD agent there, in case things get extra out of hand. You know how paranoid he is." Dad answers, but I can tell it's not the full truth. I shrug it off though, and he also explains how he's going to be on a call while driving there, so I can do whatever I want to do. I decide to listen to my music and try to draw. By the end of the trip, I've drawn the best Valeron I've ever drawn, and I'm proud. I give it to Dad, and he puts it into a car bin (whatever those pocket things are).
I look around, and the first thing I notice isn't that the building I'm supposed to go in is probably the best reference for every secret movie spy headquarters, it's that Nick Fury is standing outside of the car, or Lola, as Dad has named it.
In his defense, it's a beautiful car. Sleek red paint covers the body, and soft leather coats the upholstery. I almost feel sad leaving it's embrace, but I suck it up just like a buttercup.
"Coulson. Lia. Thanks for coming. The object is this way." Fury states in his no-nonsense voice. I almost wanna reply with yes sir because I think this is the perfect time to say that. Of course, I don't, because I don't want pirate man to kick me out.
We walk for a bit, before coming to a large room full of monitors, a glowing blue cube, and cables.
"Hey, agent. Where's Barton?" Pirate man halts an agent walking by.
"The Hawk? Up in his nest." The agent replies, pointing, before walking off.
"Ah, director Fury, agent Coulson, Lia... Coulson. Ready for the Tesseract's report?" A man walks up, and I assume this is Dr. Selvig. Fury nods, and Selvig continues, "The energy levels are growing, more than we expected, even with the.. other asset nearby. Simply put, it's misbehaving."
Fury looks unimpressed. "Doctor, do you think this is the time for games? What do you mean misbehaving?"
Suddenly, a loud beep sounds. "The energy levels just keep rising. Imaging a hypothetical door. If someone keeps knocking on it, it will just get louder." Selvig try's to explain his complicated science stuff to us.
"But no-ones been in or out, how could anyone do this? You haven't been authorized to begin testing, unless you're implying..." Fury trails off.
"The Tesseract is a door..." I say, right before a beam of blue shoots from it. It condenses into a small sphere before exploding outwards and creating a cloud of blue mist. A figure steps forth from the mist, and guns are pointed almost immediately.
"Sir, drop the spear." Fury commands to the newcomer. I still can see the person that well, but from what I can see, they're wearing green clothing with gold armor and accents.
The person, who I can now see is a man with raven black hair and emerald eyes. He laughs evilly, before shooting a blue beam of energy out of aforementioned spear/scepter thing.
It hits an agent, who falls to the ground, a burn on her shoulder.

This would probably be the time where I tell you I don't know my powers yet.

I duck beneath a table and see the Tesseract. I spot a case next to it, with a shape in the middle of foam, the exact same size as the Tesseract. Better now then never. I think, before sneaking over to the contraption holding the Tesseract. I put it into the case as the green and gold clad man makes a speech. Clint Barton - or Hawkeye - sees what I'm doing, and tries to fight the man.
I slide the case to Fury, as Hawkeye is poked with the spear. His eyes turn completely black. I scramble away from him as he walks toward me. The man with the spear turns the rest of the agents in the room into his personal slave-people, before turning to me. He tilts his head a little bit, before walking towards me. I get up to turn around and run, but he appears in front of me. I jolt back, bumping into something. It's him again.
He smiles wickedly, and clones of himself appear everywhere.
"Now, what's someone like you doing here?" He asks, smirking evilly.
"W-what do you mean?" I stutter out, "I mean- my dad works here. That's why I'm here."
"Your dad? Hmm, how long has he been lying to you?" The man questions, before hearing a noise and turning to Fury. "Ahh, the Director. I believe you have something of mine?"
"It depends on who exactly you are. Then I might have some stuff for you." Fury says, somehow calm. My dad has already gone to help evacuate people.
"I am Loki, and I am burdened with glorious purpose! I shall rid the human race of their greatest problem, freedom!" I blink. Is this guy serious? I remember dad telling me about Thor- and his brother Loki. They'd destroyed a small town with their little fight.
"In that case, I have nothing for you today. Please come some other time." Fury suddenly starts running for the exit, leaving me here.
I start to run, but trip. Loki is in front of me. He moves to take control of my mind but a green mist moves the spear away from me. He frowns.
He trys again, but once again, green mist blocks his path. He resorts to just knocking me out, and the last thing I see is him staring at me quizzically.
