A/n: wow, last chapter already! This book much shorter than my usual fics since it follows chobits which only has just over 20 episodes. It was a fun little fluffy AU to write, and the next book is already in the works so keep up with my acc for the next one. L makes a very cute persacom, it was a cute little story to do.

You hadn't seen L so happy since he figured out he loved you. On the screen of his laptop was a news article, the title in big bold letters reading 'persacom solves crime'.

That persacom of course was him.

Upon the arrest of Light and Mikami, Matsuda could see just how much potential L had to be a real detective and consulted with the taskforce to see how the public would react to a persacom solving a crime. So they ran the news of the arrest including the involvement of L in the case. You'd made sure his face wasn't shown for privacy concerns, not wanting anyone to try and steal L from you or anything. But L's name was now officially out there as a detective, and the world seemed intrigued and captivated by it.

"(Y/n) read this one!" L said, pointing out the comments on the article.

You looked at the one he was pointing too and gave it a read.

It's crazy how good AI Is getting, I just hope the robots don't turn evil or something LOL. L seems like the coolest persacom ever, I'd love to see what else he can solve.

"I knew people would be intrigued by you" you replied.

"This one is nice, it says: a persacom detective could be the next step in law enforcement. They have programs that can identify patterns and anomalies quicker than any human could. Definitely going to keep tabs on L's next cases" L read out.

"You've get fans already! I'm so proud of you sweetheart"

He gave you a bright smile and wrapped his arms around you for a thank you hug. Gladly returning the affection, you kissed his forehead and gave him a tight, affectionate squeeze. A knock on the door made you both turn to face it, the hug breaking.

"I'll get it!" L said, still acting on all the manners you'd taught him when you first found him.

He got up and went to answer the door, finding Watari behind it.

"Dad!" He smiled.

"Good morning mr detective, you're all over the news I see" Watari replied.

"Uh-huh, I'm a real detective now!"

Watari ruffled his hair, proud of his creation for coming so far in his digital life. You got up and walked over to join the conversation, L immediately grabbing your arm and holding onto it as he usually did.

"Good morning, what's up?" You asked.

"The maintenance being done today is extended by and hour, so it'll end at 2pm now. Sorry if that's an inconvenience but given the fact we were broken into I think more security is the best idea" Watari explained.

"Oh it's fine, we're going to visit Near today anyway. Thanks for the update"

Watari being quite busy with the building maintenance couldn't stay for long, but he made sure to give L another congratulations about his solved case before leaving. The relationship L and Watari had now was kind of like a father and adult son that had moved out of the house. They still loved each other like family of course, but had separate lives.

"Speaking of Near, get your shoes on L we better get going" you said.

L was quick to slip his shoes on and turn his laptop off, and the two of you were soon out the door and down the stairs to go out for the day. But you made a pit stop when you ran into Misa out the front getting her mail.

"Oh hey Misa, you're up early" you greeted.

"Oh hey, I saw the news. It's all over the place, the first detective persacom!" She smiled.

L immediately got exited again, overjoyed people were recognising his hard work.

"L's gonna be the worlds first AND best persacom detective" He smiled.

"You sure are with those skills. I can't believe it was light, well... I can. He's an ass. I'm just surprised he got as far as he did really"

"You dodged a bullet, good idea breaking up with him" you said.

Misa couldn't believe her luck, it wasn't that long ago she'd dated Light and now he was an arrested criminal. That was one massive bullet she'd dodged there.

"I know, I think I'm done with boys for a while. I've got Rem to keep me company anyway" she replied, giving her little persacom a head pat.

Rem smiled, she'd always liked affection from her owner.

"We'll talk more later, we have to go out. Catch you?"  You said.

"Yeah catch you later, congratulations again L" Misa replied.

"Thank you Misa-Chan!" L smiled.

Parting ways you headed out with L holding your hand the whole way, not taking too long to reach Near's place. It was Matt who answered the door like usual, and you found everyone gathered in the living room sorting out boxes of clothes, each one labelled with one of the persacoms names. Seems like they were having a bit of a clean out.

"Ah, there you are. Right on time, ignore the mess" Near said, upon noticing you enter.

"Clean out?" You asked.

"Yeah, we've accumulated a few to many outfits. If L fits into any he can take some, we need to downsize the persacom wardrobe"

L seemed happy about that, he enjoyed when other people did his outfits for him. He wasn't that good at fashion himself, and found having to pick out clothes every day a bit boring. That's why he was always so willing to let you dress him up, and take clothes as hand me downs from others.

"I've seen the news, I had no doubt L would do great things. Especially as a chobit" Near mentioned.

"I'm proud of him, he's definitely gonna be super successful" you replied.

"He certainly will"

As you chatted with Near about how the case went, L was beckoned over by the other persacom to dig through all the clothes with them. Each of them eager to make an outfit for L to take off their hands. L was always willing to help, so he sat down with the group and began to help them organise everything that was tossed all over the ground into neat piles.

"Blue and white are you're colours right? I bet we can make something with that" Matt asked.

"Blue and white are L's colours, Mr Watari assigned them to me when he made me" L replied.

"Linda will know what to do, she's the art one here. She'll know how to make a good outfit with those colours" Mello said.

Linda was already on it, grabbing all the blues and whites to go through them all.

"Leave it to me and my creative programming" she said.

As L was folding up some shirts, he got the nagging feeling B was lingering around in his data. It reminded him of their last conversation, and what B asked.

"Oh, that's right. Hey A?" L said.

A looked up form their pile of clothes. It was nice to see A working again, it was quite sad seeing him him turned off and taken salty when he was broken and needed to be repaired.

"B says he's sorry for what happened. Sometimes I can see what little programming he has left backed up on me. That was what I heard from him last" L explained.

A was silent a moment, processing what he'd just heard. He knew that L was basically B's twin since the story of the chobits can been revealed to you, but he found it so strange how all this time there was a loose connection between L and Nears persacom family stemming back years and they just didn't know it.

"It's ok, it's in the past. Plus, what happened with his AI was completely unpredictable. No one knew it was going to happen. I'm fixed now aren't I? Even have a few upgrades" A replied.

L felt relief on AB's behalf. Glad they were able to close the book on the incident and move on.

"That's good, I was worried it would be a yucky memory" L said.

A giggled at his use of 'yucky', L having picked it up from you saying it once and his AI had stuck with it.

"I don't really remember it actually, it was taken out of my data when I got fixed. Probably for the better, we can just move on now" A replied.

You and Near simply sat and watched all the persacom talk and help each other, finding it so fascinating how they all interacted so naturally even though they were all code and motherboards.

"You know (y/n), I always knew a persacom could form a bond with a human. I mean I made myself a bunch of siblings just for that bond. But I had no idea how intensely and deeply one could be until I met you and L, he's truly a remarkable persacom. He loves you to the moon and back" Near pondered.

"I never knew it was possible for a persacom to have a bond at all until I found him. I'm so glad I did, I love him just as much. I'm so proud of him" You replied.

Who'd ever think that you could fall in love with a computer? One that was so human, if it weren't for those cat like ear ports on the side of his head you wouldn't know any batter. He was your whole world that boy, you adored him. And now he was following his dreams of being a detective and protecting you from harm. Where would you be without L? Your life would certainly be a lot more boring. You would've met so many friends, or learnt so many new things about technology. And of course, you'd never have fallen in love with someone as sweet as him.

Feeling your gaze on him, L looked up at you. He smiled, a genuine, human smile. One you returned and blew him a kiss.

He blew one back, giggling in happiness.

Where would you be without your chobit? Certainly nowhere near as happy as you were now.

L was the best thing that ever happened to you, and for as long as you lived he'd be holding onto your arm and giving you that sweet smile and electric hum wherever you went.
