A/n: this book is much shorter than my usual ones since it's more of a fluffy story and is based of Chobits which only has about 20ish episodes, so even though these are the last few chapters don't worry, I've already got the next L book started and ready to go as soon as this one ends.

With all the information L had been able to gather, this case was going so much faster than the police initially thought. Thanks to the DNA evidence and footage L managed to get, the suspect had already been identified and a plan had been made. After Matsuda consulted the taskforce and organised things with you, Misa and L, the details had been finalised.

They knew that suspect Light Yagami frequented the area the peep room was in and seemingly had ties to it as well, he'd been spotted on CCTV in the area multiple times. So going undercover the police as well as you and Misa would watch the area waiting for him to come by. According to Misa who'd once dated Light, he wasn't immune to taking risks. So a crime of opportunity seemed like something he'd try if we was desperate. When he was in the area, you'd pretend to leave L unattended and watch from the shadows.

When Light inevitably tried to snatch him up, that's when the police would strike.

L was willing to be the bait, he really wanted to be involved in the case and solve it. Although you were a little worried, you knew he could handle himself nowadays.

The red light district was sketchy enough as it was, you didn't really want to be there. But for the sake of the case and L achieving his dreams of being a detective, you walked down there with the police undercover on your trail with L. You gripped his hand tightly, a little nervous. Feeling the pressure he looked over at you with a reassuring smile.

"I'll be ok (y/n), I can fight now remember" L said.

"I know. I'm just worried because I love you, it's natural to worry about the ones you love" you replied.

L placed a kiss on your cheek, he loved it when you told him you loved him.

"I love you too, but I'll be ok. Promise"

Your phone buzzed and when you checked it, you saw a message from Matsuda who was watching the situation from afar in hiding. He was telling you now was the time. Looking around, but making sure to make it look natural so you didn't seem suspicious, you looked for Light. Spotting him with another man down the road talking to one another, you took a break and turned to L. Fixing the bow on his puffy shirt and ruffling his hair a little, you gave him a weary smile.

"Alright, you know what to do sweetheart. Be careful ok?" You said.

"I will, I'm gonna make sure this case is solved so he can't hurt anyone. Especially you" L replied.

Placing one last kiss on his forehead, you turned to leave and go hide with the police. Across the street was where Matsuda was watching from, slightly into an alley way hidden from sight. You stood beside him and watched nervously.

"He'll be ok (y/n), you've got one of the most elaborate persacoms there is. He can handle it" he assured.

"I know, I just love him a lot and worry..." you replied, watching L stand outside a shop pretending to wait.

"You know, I never really thought about love between a human and a persacom. But you and L proved to me it can happen, and it can be super cute"

That made you smile, you were glad the people around you didn't find the relationship you and L had strange.

After little while of waiting, Light and his associate finally spotted L and you and the police hidden away in the street early watched.

"Kira behind you, it's that persacom!" Mikami said.

"What-"

Light turned around, seeing L standing by himself down the street.

"No fucking way... his owner must be in that shop. What are the chances..." he muttered.

"He's unattended... not many people are around..."

"It's too risky when the cops have my DNA Mikami"

"Think about it though, a persacom like him could make us a fortune! Mikami said.

Light looked over at L, he knew that this was a huge risk. But lately he'd gotten cocky. He'd been getting away with his crimes for so long he felt overconfident in himself. And with his past encounters with L, this felt personal. He wanted to win over this persacom. And the pull of the thought of winning this game in his head? It drew him in.

"Hmm... you're right we might never get this chance again. Follow me" Light said.

L saw them approaching, and snapped into detective mode. Time to act like an innocent little persacoms who doesn't know any better than to wander away from his owner...

Pretending to bump into him as he walked past, Light whacked L with his arm and made him stumble back a bit.

"Oh sorry I did see yo- Woah you're a persacom!" He said.

L immediately knew what was up, he knew he was a rather unique persacom and got a lot of attention for it. Light was playing a fake out.

"Uh-huh! L is a custom!" L played along.

"Wow, one hell of a custom. Even your eyebags look real. How long did it take to make you?"

"A very long time. My owner worked on me for years before I was finally finished"

"So... where is your owner?" Mikami spoke up.

L immediately knew this extra person must be an associate involved in the crimes like the man who took him before was. But he still played along, not breaking character for anything yet.

"Shopping. My sensors set off the shop alarms for some reason, we think it's a loose wire" L explained, giving a reason as to why he was waiting outside.

"A loose wire? In your sensors themselves or in your computer?" Light asked.

"Not sure. Maybe my sensors, my computer feels ok" L replied.

Light saw this as a chance to get closer to L, using the information as an excuse to reach out and touch him.

"Can I have a look? I might be able to fix it" he asked.

Normally L was very opposed to people touching him. Touching was for the person just for him- you. But it wasn't going to be near his power switch, so for the sake of he case L allowed it.

"Alright, it's in my ear ports" L lied, his sensors were actually under his skin.

Light reached out and opened up L's ear ports, pretending to look inside like he knew what he was doing.

"Hmm... looks like there is a loose wire. I can help you fix it if you like?" He said.

This was the hook, he was trying to get L to come with him on the promise of fixing him. L knew better than to take candy from a stranger, this was a prime kidnapping method. Promising something in return for coming with the kidnapped. All of L's alarm bells were going off in his head, he had no doubt that Light was the intruder AND the one running the peep room operation. He was so clearly trying to kidnap L. But for the sake of the sting operation, L ignored his alarm bells knowing you and the police would step in soon.

"Yes please, I want to go into shops again. But I can't when my sensor is broken and sets the alarms off" he replied.

"I'll need to get my tool kit from my work, it's just down this way. Follow me" Light replied.

Light put a hand on L's shoulder, gripping tight. In an aggressive way L didn't like, it wasn't nice like your tight reassuring squeezes. Leading L down the street and away from the shop, they thought they'd just gotten him hook line and sinker. L glanced over at where he knew you were hiding and watched as you, Matsuda and the police followed on the other side of the street. You'd use this chance to find out where they operated, since they seemed to be leading L there.

"What models are you made from?" Mikami asked.

"A bit of everything, but my AI is all made from scratch" L replied.

"An AI huh? That's very impressive" Light said, giving Mikami a glance.

They felt like they'd just hit the jackpot here. Little did they know that it was about to crumble down around them. As they turned the corner they approached exactly what L had suspected... another peep room. Seems like his suspicions were right and they did run more than one in the area. He could see you and the police starting to take place and surround them so no one could make a mistake. Any minute now.

"You must be capable of all kinds of things then right?" Mikami asked.

"Uh-huh, lots of things. I learn from things I see and repeat them, my AI program is the best of the best" L replied.

"You must be worth a lot of money" Light said.

"Millions"

Again the criminals shot each other an exited and malicious look upon hearing how much L was worth. They wanted that money, every last cent.

As they took a step onto the front stairs of the building, L stopped in his tracks which caused the others to stop with him. They gave him a confused look as to why he suddenly stopped.

"But you know... Light Yagami" L began.

The look on Lights face when he heard his name... he knew right then and there that it was all over.

"You shouldn't be trying to kidnap a chobit. My owner is VERY protective of me"

In a matter of seconds, the two men were surrounded by police, all with tasers and a belt full of weapon that they stood no chance against.

"Freeze! Hands in the air, this is the police!" Matsuda announced.

The two put their hands up in panic, looking around for a why to escape only to find they were cornered. When L spotted you standing with the cops, his domineer completely changed from deceptive detective to loving sweetheart. He smiled and skipped over to you happily.

"See! I told you I could do it!" He smiled.

"You were amazing L, well done!" You replied, pulling him into a hug.

Light and Mikami watched you take L into your arms as the police shouted at them to not try and escape and that they were under arrest, feeling like absolute idiots for falling for a sting operation.

"Now I can really say I'm a detective, I did a whole case!" L beamed.

You felt so glad he was safe, and so proud of him for working so hard to achieve his goals and prove to people that a persacom can be a good detective.

"You're the worlds greatest detective L, I'm so proud of you"
