Kyra sighed as she stared in the mirror, her eyes fixated on her reflection; her true identity. Her human self stared at her, pain and suffering in her eyes. A few tears came to the surface of her eyes as she put her head in her hands. "I can't live like this anymore" she mumbled.

At that moment, Eliza walked into the bathroom. "Kyra, are you okay? You've been in here a while"

Kyra glanced up, her eyes puffy and teary. "Eliza, why do you love me? I mean just look at me. I'm hideous" She asked genuinely, almost scared of the answer but knowing that she had to know. Did Eliza really love her or was it all a facade?

Eliza sighed as she neared her, taking Kyra's hands in her own. "I don't care about how you look. What I care about is who you are and to me, you're the best girl I've ever met. Don't doubt that"

Kyra glanced away, again seeing herself in the mirror. Eliza sighed, gently cupping her face in her own and making her look in her eyes as she sang softly and reassuringly
"I don't need you to sell me on reasons to want you
I don't need you to search for the proof that I should

You don't have to be scared you're not enough
'Cause what we've got going is good"  Eliza chuckled lightly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ears.

"I don't need more reminders of all that's been broken
I don't need you to fix what I'd rather forget
Clear the slate and start over
Try to quiet the noises in your head
We can't compete with all that" She carefully led Kyra away from the bathroom and the mirror and sat her down on the bed, taking her other hand.

"So what if it's us?

What do you say?" She looked Kyra in the eyes for a brief moment, hope glistening in them. Kyra gave her a small smile.

"You really mean it? You really love me?" Kyra asked, uncertainty evident in her voice.

"Of course I do! And I don't care about your curse or your "true self" as you call it because to me, this is your true self. And I just want to be with you. Not the human you. Not the dragon you. Just you. Just us. Can't you see that?"

Kyra nodded, startled yet comforted as no one had been this kind to her and treated her with so much love as they were usually scared of her
"I never thought there'd be someone like you who would want me"

"Well?" Eliza asked hopefully.

"So I give you ten thousand reasons to not let me go

Well, that's all that I've wanted for longer than you could possibly know

We can try that" Eliza nodded, a clear smile across her face. That's all she wanted.

"It's not so impossible" The two neared eachother, intertwining their fingers and love starting to shine through their deep eyes.

"Nobody else but the two of us here" Kyra confirmed, refusing to glance at the mirror despite the temptations to because in this moment, all she cared about was the one person who loved her for who she was inside not what she looked like.

"'Cause you're saying it's possible" The two gently smiled

"We can just watch the whole world disappear" Eliza gently stroked Kyra's scaled hand soothingly with her thumb, hope and love radiating brightly from her heart.

"It's just you and me" Kyra nodded, confirming what she had promised. And for once, she was truly content in her life knowing she had Eliza no matter what.

The two leaned in, their eyes closed, as they gently kissed one another, their smooth lips against eachother. Their hearts fluttered with joy and happiness and they were both happy knowing they had eachother and that was all they needed in life.
