YN's POV
Most of the next day breezed by fairly quickly, I was more than happy for it to pass so fast since there was a certain class after lunch I was actually a little excited for. It felt weird to be excited about getting closer to becoming a hero after everything I've done and been through and how against it I was only months prior. "Hero Basic Training" was where I'd be able to actually train my quirk for good. I know next to nothing about actually being a hero so this course is really gonna help. If it's anything like the past years Aizawa has told me about it will also train my quirk. I've also been trying to train my body on my own time though I've only been doing it since yesterday's quirk assessment test. It's a start I guess. Everyone talked in class for a bit before we heard someone yell followed by All Might kicking the door open "I AM HERE! ENTERING THE ROOM LIKE A HERO!" He yelled which made me chuckle slightly.

He started explaining somethings about the course before saying we would be doing Battle Training. He then clicked a button and metal suitcases came out of the wall as he informed us that the cases had our requested hero costumes in them. I grabbed mine and made my way to the male change room. I didn't have a clue on how my costume would look since I only sent in a few guidelines for things I would need but not many because I knew the people that were making my costume would be able to make something better than I could come up with. amongst the excited awe of everyone seeing their costumes for the first time, I opened my briefcase.

My costume consisted of thick brown boots with holes in the bottom with a note attached to them "For quicker absorption of your ink while in combat". Along with those was a pair of black padded pants with a large pocket on one side with a sketchbook and pencil in it. Next was a plain short-sleeved shirt with the note "Don't worry about stains, you can absorb ink through the shirt". I hummed putting on the next part was a brown bomber jacket with metal gloves attached to the sleeves. I slipped the coat on and looked at the gloves, they were large and a bit bulky around the forearms and they lead to dark red gloves with a little bit of metal around the sections of the fingers. Looking at the gauntlets I found a note like the ones on my boots "For quicker producing of ink and allows you to shoot out ink roughly a metre away". I hummed before putting on the final piece of my costume, a gas mask that I can wear or hang around my neck and a pair of semi-translucent goggles that tied the whole costume in a graffiti aesthetic. I looked at myself in the mirror with a small smile before walking to where the Combat Tests were being held.

All of the students exited the darkened tunnel leading to training ground beta. The dimly lit interior of the tunnel helped with our dramatic entrance and reveal but I'm not sure if that was intentional. Even if it wasn't we all looked great. I looked around at everyone else's costumes before I saw Jiro and Ashido walking towards me "Hey you two" I waved

Ashido was wearing a purple and turquoise skin-tight bodysuit with a brown vest with some fur around the collar and a small white mask around her eyes. Jiro was wearing a black leather jacket with a ripped salmon coloured shirt, black pants, white fingerless gloves and some boots with what looked like amps on them. She also had a red triangle painted under each eye. It was a look that perfectly showed her punk attitude.

"Wow YN you look, great" Ashido said

"Thanks, you two look great as well " I responded scratching the back of my head

"I'll see you in a bit Jiro I wanna see some other costumes" Ashido said leaving just me and Jiro

There were a few seconds of silence "...You're not very good at this are you" Jiro said breaking the silence with a small laugh

I rubbed the back of my head sheepishly "Yeah... I never really was good at carrying a conversation" I shrugged

She hummed "I would've thought you were the kid that wouldn't shut up when you were younger" She joked

I gave a small laugh before shrugging "Didn't really have people to talk to back then..." I responded trailing off

She tilted her head about to speak again before All Might called us to line up so he could explain exactly what we would be doing. She looked back at me once before walking to All Might with me following the group. He pulled out a small piece of paper and started to read off of it.

"The situation is that two villains have hidden a nuclear weapon somewhere in their hideout. The heroes are trying to dispose of it. The heroes need to catch the villains or get the nuclear weapon within the allotted time. The villains need to defend the weapon for the whole time or catch the heroes"

We nodded in understanding as Iida raised his hand in a second "Sir how will we be determining teams?"

"We will draw lots to form teams of two then two teams of two will go into each situation. One pair will be the heroes while the other pair will be the villains" All Might answered

As All Might pulled a box out of nowhere we each pulled out a piece of paper. I looked down at mine seeing it had a "k" on it, I hummed watching everyone find their pairs "What letter do you have?" A girl behind me asked

I turned to see a girl I remember doing a few of the tests with yesterday "Hm? Oh, It's a k" I looked at her holding the piece of paper

She smiled "I guess we're a team then, I'm Yokina Taiyo" She said holding out ger slip of paper with a k on it

"Nice to meet you, YN LN" I smiled

"Time to find out who will be tested first!" All Might yelled gaining everyone's attention again instantly

He reached into two boxes labelled Hero and Villian and pulled a ball with an A on it and one with a D on it. We were then all told to go to the observation room while teams A and D took their places at one of the buildings. "Soooooo..." Taiyo said beside me

"Oh, What's up?" I asked

"Well, we're gonna be teaming today and I know nothing about you. You're a bit of a ghost" She giggled slightly

I shrugged with a small smile "Well what do you wanna start with?" I asked

"We should start with quirks" She hummed

I nodded before giving her the quick rundown on my ink manipulation and how it works. She smiled enthusiastically "Sounds useful"

I nodded "It has its moments, What about your quirk?" I asked

"Well, it kinda works like a plant with photosynthesis. I absorb solar energy from the sun while I'm outside but instead of it helping me grow, I can shoot energy and make myself physically better than I was before" She smiled

"Oh, so that's what you did during our race" I hummed

She nodded "A little enhancement to speed"

I hummed softly "You get hotter when using your quirk right?" I asked

She laughed "Why thank you YN" she smiled pretending to be embarrassed

I pinched the bridge of my nose with a small smile "That's not what I meant"

"You still said it. But to answer your question, Yes my body gets warmer when I use my quirk" She smiled

I nodded "Then I may have some ideas for us teaming up"

She nodded smiling as we continued following the group eventually making it to a room with a large monitor showing different angles of the building. The first teams were Midoriya and Uraraka going against Iida and Bakugo. From what I know about Midoriya and Bakugo this should be interesting. Right off the bat as the training started Bakugo seemed to only care about getting his hands on Midoriya, which let Uraraka escape and return to the mission. Bakugo wasn't holding back anything in his assault on Midoriya prompting some worried comments from the rest of the class directed at All Might who urged everyone to let the test continue. "Sir, He's going to seriously injure Midoriya" Yaoyarozu said

"He's definitely ruthless but he's not stupid" I commented

Yaoyarozu and a few of my other classmates looked at me, I decided to continue once nobody had said anything and we were just awkwardly staring "Bakugo is super angry about something but I don't think he'd find his way into UA being dumb enough to seriously injure a classmate. He may be brutal but he's still trying to become a hero right? Either he knows Midoriya can take the beating he's currently taking or I'm overestimating Bakugo. Plus Aizawa said villains won't pull punches yesterday so we all have to get used to that" I explained giving a small point to the screen as Bakugo was once again yelling at Midoriya as Midoriya leaned against the breaking wall

"Exactly YN" All Might said with a thumbs up but I noticed a small nervous sweat on his forehead as he turned back to the screen

As we all watched some more nervous than others Midoriya and Uraraka managed to sneak out a win with a combination attack and Uraraka getting the bomb. Midoriya was taken to Recovery Girl and we moved onto the next few matches. I used this time to see who I should look out for. Todoroki was an obvious one to keep an eye out for, Kirishima, Tsuyu, and Yaoyourozu were some of the other standouts but everyone seemed to have some usefulness to their quirk. 

Eventually, it came time for Taiyo and me to have our shot, Going up against Mina and Aoyama with our team being the villains. I sighed clenching my fists in my pockets as we went to the building to set up. I think Taiyo could see the discomfort on my face but didn't mention it to me. I didn't want to "play the villain" longer than I had to so decided I wouldn't hold back.

We set up the bomb on the top floor of the building and looked around "I've got an idea, wait outside would ya?" I said 

"Oh? Okay" Taiyo said before leaving the room and closing the door

I sighed cracking my wrists and let my ink flow from my hands, controlling it to paint the floor and walls as best I could. Using as much ink as I could before feeling light-headed, coating the entire floor and about halfway up the walls. I sighed leaning against a pillar I had also coated mostly in ink "You can come back in now" I called breathing heavily

Taiyo opened the door before looking at my handy work "Don't worry about slipping, as long as your quirk is going the heat should separate the water from my ink making it hard and just like you're walking on the floor" I explained

She nodded as her eyes turned yellow and she stepped into the room watching the ink harden under her feet. I sat down trying to regain my energy as we waited for Ashido and Aoyama to come into the room. A few minutes passed and with a loud bang, the door was opened immediately followed by Aoyama's laser which failed to hit either of us. Ashido slid in using her acid to almost skate around as Taiyo kept Aoyama occupied, she slid towards the bomb as I raised a wall of hardened ink in front of her. She easily burned through it continuing on her way. I manipulated the ink near her feet to grab her ankle and swing her around away from the bomb as her fingertips almost grazed the bomb. The ink snaked up her leg and eventually, it fully encompassed her lower-half making her unable to move. "Sorry Ashido" I gave a small smile as I put the capture tape on her 

"No fair!" She whined

I looked over at Taiyo and Aoyama as she was wrapping the same tape around him. "I guess we win" She smiled

Soon after we heard the buzzer signalling the end. I sighed tiredly as I fell onto my back absorbing my ink back into myself "Go on, I meet you there" I waved tiredly

Ashido rolled her eyes and grabbed my leg dragging out of the room "You're gonna regret being on the top floor" She smirked

I stood up quickly "Hey, I'm up! Let's go!" I said quickly as we exited the building

We returned to the watch room and listened to the breakdown of our fight then watched the rest of the battles before the day finally ended. The test didn't feel like being a villain like it used to. Maybe I just felt safer than I did back then.
