Part 4: UA

YN's POV
Today's the day. The first actual day at UA High. From the moment I woke I felt nervous for multiple reasons. I let out a deep sigh as I sat up getting dressed. I didn't feel good enough to eat breakfast so I just got into the uniform they sent me and left for the day greeting Aizawa on my way out. After the twenty-minute walk to UA, I had arrived. I was early due to the lack of breakfast so I spent some time admiring the building from the outside as other students passed me by. I felt my hand shaking slightly as it held onto the strap of my bag and took another deep breath to steady the nerves before finally entering. After a few minutes of walking down different hallways, trying to find the way I eventually made it to the obvious giant red A that marked the door as the entrance to Class 1-A.

Instantly once I opened the door I was approached by a tall raven-haired boy with glasses "Hello! My name is Tenya Iida! Welcome to Class 1-A!" he said as I let out a small exclamation of surprise

Once I regained my composure I spoke "Uhhh, H-hi nice to meet you I'm YN LN" I gave a small wave

"Yes, You were the one that can manipulate ink right?" He asked

So someone did see me "Yeah that's me" I nodded rubbing my arm

I started looking around the class at the other students who had already taken seats. The only one I recognized was Jiro but there weren't many seats open near her. I looked for the nearest open seat then looked at Iida "Well nice to meet you. See you around" I said walking to the unoccupied seat as he gave me a loud but polite goodbye

I took my seat and dropped my bag by my desk and sighed rubbing my face slightly "Yo, I'm Eijiro Kirishima. I don't think I've seen you around before" the person to the left of me said

I looked over at a red spikey-haired male as he gave me a smile with surprisingly sharp teeth "Oh, hi I'm YN LN" I gave him a smile in return

He smiled "Nice to meet ya"

I gave a nod "Same to you"

"So we're gonna be near each other for a few years, let's get to know each other" He said with a smile

I gave a small chuckle to the outgoing boy "Alright, Sure" I smiled

"How about we start with what our quirks are?" He smiled

"Sure" I nodded with a little worry knowing I would need to show off and explain my quirk but so far nobody has judged my quirk, maybe they don't see it as that bad

I watched as his skin turned to hard rock and he smiled pridefully "My quirk lets me harden my skin for defence and offence" He flexed making me laugh slightly

"Nice" I responded with a smile

He smiled and deactivated his quirk "What about you?" He asked

I nodded with a quiet sigh then held out my hand with my palm up and started to cover my hand in ink "My quirk is Ink Manipulation. I have ink in my body instead of actual blood so I can just produce it from my fingertips but it takes some time to do anything big unless there's already ink around" I said as I clenched my hand into a fist absorbing my ink

"That sounds awesome. It's kinda like Vlad King's quirk" He said as I tilted my head

"Who's that?" I asked

"You don't know Vlad King? Hold on" He said as he pulled out his phone

"Sorry, I'm a bit out of the hero loop" I said rubbing the back of my head

"That's fine" He said as he pulled up a picture of a large white-haired man labelled "The Blood Hero: Vlad King"

"Oh I think I saw him on my way in here" I said

Kirishima nodded "He's a teacher here but I don't know which class. Maybe he's our teacher"

We were then distracted by a loud blonde classmate entering the room and almost instantly getting into an argument with Iida as he walked to the seat in front of us. Kirishima started talking to him as I looked at the next person to enter the door. It was Midoriya who I was surprised to see actually made it in based on the fact the only robot I saw him destroy was the zero point one. It must've given him a ton of rescue points. I then heard a familiar voice from the door "It took 8 seconds for you to react. That's not good enough. I'm your homeroom teacher Shota Aizawa. I know it's a bit sudden just put these on and go out to the field" He said

I got up from my seat slightly as he walked into the classroom holding UA gym uniforms. Everyone got up taking a uniform from him as they walked to the field. I was the last to do so just because I was to busy looking at Aizawa wondering why he didn't tell me he would be my homeroom teacher. I eventually followed suit and took a uniform walking to the field after changing.

He informed us all that we would be doing what he called a "Quirk assessment test". A brown-haired girl pointed out that the entrance exam was supposed to assess our quirks but Aizawa wanted to make a personal assessment and pointed out that UA has a reputation of being the best so he wasn't going to be pulling any punches during the entire Hero course. To raise the stakes he added the fact that the one that came in last would be expelled. I remember him coming home and telling me he had expelled an entire class one year so I knew he wasn't lying.

"But it's just the first day, it's not fair to expel one of us" The brown-haired girl protested

"And you think natural disasters or power-hungry Villians are? This training is difficult so we can combat that unfairness and UA is gonna throw one difficulty after another at you. So show me it's not a mistake you're here" Aizawa responded looking at all of us

If I wasn't already nervous enough already, I might get stopped at the first hurdle on becoming a hero. The first test was a 50-meter sprint, My quirk doesn't do much to my speed so I have to rely on my regular running for this one. I was paired up against a girl I saw talking with Jiro while we were in class. She had black hair that turned red and was in a small ponytail. As we set up to run I noticed her eyes turn yellow and it started to feel way warmer. As we took off she was clearly faster than me and I finished a second after her around 6 seconds. Most of the other tests I could actually use my quirk on like covering the ball in the ball throw in ink so I could control it to stay in the air longer until it was too far away for me to control. Something I had noticed while going through all the tests was Midoriya wasn't good at any of them. Maybe he wasn't using his quirk since it broke his body at the entrance exam. "If Midoriya doesn't shape up soon he'll be the one going home" Iida said as I nodded with a sigh

"Of course he is he's a quirkless loser" Bakugou responded

"What? He's not quirkless. Didn't you see what he did at the entrance exams?" I asked and he just tilted his head at me with a "huh" before we looked at Midoriya again

He threw the ball but it only went a few meters but I had noticed why. Aizawa had cancelled out his quirk "The judges for this year's exam weren't rational enough. Someone like you should never be allowed to enroll in this school."

"You erased my- Wait! Those goggles! I know you. You can look at someone and cancel out their powers, The Erasure Hero: Eraserhead" Midoriya said

The rest of the class seemed confused about who Aizawa was "He's more of a hidden hero, doesn't like the spotlight and thinks it gets in the way of hero work" I said crossing my arms

The rest of the class look at me with acknowledgement as I was looking at Aizawa. Aizawa pulled Midoriya closer having a quiet word with him before returning his quirk and backing away. I sighed and rubbed my eyes as I looked at Aizawa then Midoriya. He readied himself and as he threw the ball launched it into the sky with the kind of power Bakugou's explosions had. His index finger looked bruised as he looked at Aizawa "I can still go" He said clenching his fist

We all looked at him in awe but that was short-lived as Bakugou charged at Midoriya "Deku you bastard! Tell me how you did that or you're dead!" He yelled

Before any of us could do anything Aizawa wrapped the cloth around his neck around Bakugou and erased his quirk. "Stand down. It would be wise to avoid making me use my quirk too much. It gives me serious dry eye" He explained

After all of that, we had to finish the rest of our fitness tests. I kept an eye on Midoriya noticing he was having trouble. I sighed tiredly once we were all finished and grouped around Aizawa "Alright, time to give you your results. I've ranked you all from best to worst though you should have a pretty good idea of where you stand already but I'll just pull up the whole list." He said as he turned around turning on a large holographic screen showing the ranking of all 22 of us. I checked for mine and noticed I was ranked 19th. I didn't notice until now that everyone was more physically fit than I was, probably for the fact I never really tried to make my body stronger and some people needed to, to make their quirks better. It was still sobering to see I was so close to last. But Midoriya was the real last one. I looked at him softly as he looked crushed seeing his name at the bottom of the list "By the way, I wasn't going to expel any of you" Aizawa said as we all looked at him rightfully surprised "That was just a rational lie to make sure you all did your best on the exam" He explained

"I assumed you all knew that? Sorry, I probably should've said something" Yaoyorozu said looking at the rest of us

I let out a sigh of relief as did most of the other students. "Alright, that's it for today get back to class and grab your stuff" Aizawa said walking by and handing a medical note to Midoriya so he could see Recovery Girl.

I walked back to class along with the other students started on my way back home "Hey YN!" Someone called to me

I turned around to see Jiro walking up to me "Oh hey Jiro"

"Hey, I just wanted to say 'hi' since we didn't get the chance to take during class" She said as we started walking

"That's fine. It's uh. Nice to see that you got in" I responded

"Yeah, you too. And thanks again for helping me near the end of the exam. You didn't have too" She smiled

"It was nothing. We were applying to a school for heroes after all" I said

"Right, right that makes sense" She responded

We stayed in a bit of awkward silence for a little bit as we tried to find something to talk about "Well... I'll see you in class tomorrow" She said with an awkward wave

"Right, see you tomorrow" I responded

She took her leave as I continued home. Though the day was tiring it felt nice. If I actually want to accomplish this I'll need to train a lot more. Starting tomorrow I'll find out how to make it to their levels.
