Unit 27

Introduction

Apparently, according to our good friend Doppelgengar, we can't have spookily funny stories. *imagines "no fun" sign being driven into ground* So this week's theme is spookiness! Maybe?

Before that I'm going to have a quick blurb about my inactivity. If you saw my notification, then you'll know that I was gone for three days for a video game making contest in Texas. It was truly a blast, and I have a complete game to show for it! Yes, I made an entire game in 34 hours, art, music, programming: everything. It was a crappy game, but I did it completely by myself from scratch (programming to test if two rectangles intersected for collision detection was difficult) in such a short time, so I'm proud of myself. I could honestly have an entire unit just talking about the competition, but I'll spare you all of that this time. You can download the game for free here: pi-memorizer.itch.io/tuesday-terror

So yeah, that and the lack of sleep it caused made me fall way behind on my writing schedule, but I'll be working to catch back up as fast as I can without adversely affecting the rest of my life.

Idle Chat Wall

Siri: The stage is finished at last!

Kyle: *looks at stage that is riddled with circular holes* What part of this is done?

Siri: All of it, of course! I just took it upon myself to add a few cupholders. After all, everything is better with a cupholder, right?!

Kyle: Those are cupholders?! Why?! What good is a floor if it is filled with holes?!

Siri: Just look at this! They can double as anti-slip areas for the furniture! *pushes chair so that its legs fall down into the holes*

Kyle: What if we want to turn the furniture?! Hey! One of you guys knock some sense into her!

Naomi: Yeah! What are you thinking, Siri?! When are we ever going to ever get enough cups or chairs to fill all of these?

Venom: I think walking on this stage might be a safety hazard...

Kyle: Should've known that you two wouldn't be any help. *sighs* Well, let's all sit down and begin this thing.

Siri: *gets foot stuck in cupholder and falls over* *lays on floor, unmoving* I guess I'll just talk from here. Can someone pass me my drink?

Venom: You mean this one? *holds up a large styrofoam cup*

Siri: Just put it next to me, please.

Venom: *tries but fails* I hate to say it... But it doesn't fit.

Kyle: ...

Siri: ...

Venom: ...

Naomi: *pulls out fan and covers mouth* Well this isn't a very fitting ending.

Haiku Wall

Venom: I call this one: "Eerie cool wind blows, broken leaves blow around feet, reveal summer's corpse."

Eerie cool wind blows

Broken leaves blow around feet

Reveal summer's corpse

Venom: A very fitting name I think. *hangs head* Writer's block is a real pain...

Storytime Wall

Naomi: *takes seat on cushion* Time for my serious story! Get ready to be spooked good!

I am running. I am not conscious to who, or what, I am running from, but all that I know is that I'm running from something terrifying. Pitch blackness encloses my entire world as if my eyes are sewn shut.

I stumble over the world, tripping time and time again on the uneven ground. Each time I get up. I have to get up.

A slimy writhing sound comes from behind me. My heart skips a beat. It's coming.

I trip again. The squishing and splattering of the monster behind me gets louder, louder.

I grovel for some firm ground to push myself up with, but find none. Instead, I feel the ground squirming around like grubs. I quickly pull my hands up, flinging some of the writhing masses into the air, and I jump up unassisted by my hands.

The sound stops.

I try walking forward, but my legs can hardly move. My legs were being pulled in. I struggle and struggle, but there is no way out. Blind to my surroundings, I am isolated from and terrified of the world.

Something collides with my face like a train, and I wake up.

My senses of touch and smell tell me that I am actually awake this time. The stale air of my bedroom welcomes me back home to the real world. My room is pitch black, as I would expect from waking up in the middle of the night. I pull the sweaty sheets off of me, the exposing my cold legs to the frigid air of night.

I wander off to turn on my bedroom light, carefully sliding my feet around in the darkness as to not fall. It doesn't take long to get to the door.

I flip the light switch, but no light comes.

I suddenly hear a writhing sound, but it sounds close. I feel dizzy, like a headache was being drilled into me. I put my hands to my head, and I feel something warm and wet.

With shaking hands, I let my fingers follow the wetness to the source, leading me to my eyes.

They're gone, but the grubs aren't.

Naomi: *bows* Thank you for you time.

Conclusion

Was that spooky enough?! I sure hope so, because I don't want to type any more for this unit. Until next week!
