Chapter 6

Tetsurou stared deadpan at the three demons in front of him, a headache already ravaging his skull as his supposed confidants argued over how to give him a crash course on their universe and how things worked. He rubbed the bridge of his nose in an attempt to alleviate his headache some before his agitated sigh drew the attention of his underlings. When all three were looking at him, Tetsurou decided to give them a starting point for his history and culture lessons.

"Why don't you start by explaining how you healed Oi - Tooru's face earlier. What was that?"

Koushi tilted his head in confusion for a moment before letting out a snicker. "Right. I forgot you aren't our Tetsurou."

"Koushi. We've been arguing for the past thirty minutes because he isn't our Tetsurou." Tooru's gaze held nothing but love for Koushi but his clenched fists and the vein twitching below his right eye spoke of nothing but his repressed urge to throttle the other demon.

The other demon just shrugged in response.

Tetsurou stepped in before Tooru could make good on his unspoken promise of murdering Koushi, the brunet raising his hands towards his platinum haired companion. "Focus. Your Tetsurou's life is as much on the line as mine is. I need to know how this world works - at least the basics - if I want any chance of survival."

"Tetsurou is right. Let's give him a crash course first, and when we are done with that then you two can continue your foreplay, okay?" Satori smirked at his fellow advisors, not giving them a chance to retort before he continued speaking. "Do you not have magic in your world?"

"Only in works of fiction or in a religious-like way, but nothing definitively concrete or proven." Tetsurou paused, eyes bulging slightly. "Wait, are you saying what you did earlier with his face and then with the mirror was magic? Magic is real here?!" Koushi opened his mouth to respond but Tetsurou ignored him, inciting Tooru and Satori to laugh at their pouting friend. "Never mind, don't answer that. We have horns growing out of our heads, wings coming out of our shoulders, and a tail, for fuck's sake. Magic isn't really that far fetched in this scenario."

"Actually, you are the only one that has wings." Satori and Koushi nodded in agreement with Tooru's words when Tetsurou looked to them for confirmation. "They are a symbol of your status and power, but they are also functional."

The misplaced human's eyes sparkled. "You're saying...you're saying I can fly?!"

Koushi cooed, ruffling Tetsurou's hair. "I like this one, he is adorable."

Satori snickered, turning on his heels to head towards the doors with a gesture for the others to follow. "Wanna try flying now?"

Tetsurou logically knew that Satori was tricking him into embarrassing himself but was simply too excited to fly to care. Besides, he would be going home soon so the original Tetsurou of this realm would have to deal with what he knew would be their endless mocking. So he did not hesitate in following Satori and the other two out into the courtyard, barely paying his surroundings any mind in his pursuit of flight.

Once they were outside the demonic trio discussed how to go about teaching Tetsurou how to fly with his wings given the fact that none of them knew first hand themselves. It was Koushi that suggested they lift him in the air with their magic to give him a jumpstart of sorts before releasing him from their hold so he could support himself with his wings.

They all agreed on the plan, the trio backing away from Tetsurou and each other to create a pseudo triangle with him in the middle. Tetsurou focused on trying to control the muscles in his wings, first attempting to get them to unfurl and spread. He couldn't help but laugh a little when his wings twitched, a tingling sensation spreading through his body. The temporary demon lord nodded to his underlings, another disbelieving laugh coming out when he started to float off the ground, getting louder the higher he went in the air.

"We are going to release you now, my lord!" Koushi shouted when Tetsurou was at least fifty feet in the air.

None of them waited for Tetsurou to give the go ahead, in fact they flat out ignored his shout for them to wait as he had not quite gotten his wings to fully listen to him yet. Tetsurou let out an undignified yelp when he felt the invisible support system holding him disappear, scrambling desperately to stay in the air using his wings as he fell towards the ground.

He landed with a harsh thud, definitely hearing a crack come from somewhere yet it was drowned out by the sounds of his entourage cackling. Tetsurou grunted, lifting his head to glare at them when he felt blood trickle out of his nose.

Oh, so I broke my nose. Huh. It hurt much worse last time.

Tetsurou pulled himself off the ground, approaching the cronies as they had regrouped once dropping him. "I have the authority to have you all executed, right?"

"Easily, but you won't." Tooru grinned, his teeth just a bit too sharp. His smile widened when he saw Tetsurou raise an unimpressed brow at his response. "You won't. That would be stupid and impulsive, completely illogical in fact. Why execute the only three that know your secret and can support and protect you until you go back to your home world, hm?"

"Yeah, you would be signing your own death warrant as well." Koushi sighed, wiping the tears from his face.

With a huff and a pout, Tetsurou crossed his arms over his chest. "Sa'amura and Bo would've stopped you guys from doing this."

"Not in this universe. In fact, they would've actively encouraged it on the grounds that we arrange it so you land on one of their swords."

Upon seeing the startled look in Tetsurou's eyes the trio decided to take a bit of mercy on him, ushering him back inside to a private area to discuss things further. They returned to what Tetsurou came to understand to be his quarters, taking up their positions from before. It was quiet for a moment before Tetsurou spoke up, wiping the blood from his chin.

"Who is on my side here?" When the trio went to respond with an undoubtedly snarky reply he clarified. "Outside of you three, who of my friends is actually out to kill me in this reality?"

"Name some of your friends from your world and we shall tell you."

"Kenma, Bokuto, Daichi, Iwaizumi, Yaku - "

"All enemies in this realm. Kenma, Bokuto, Daichi, and Iwaizumi are all from the so-called 'Holy Kingdom'. Bokuto is their king and he arguably wants you dead most in this world. Kenma is one of his mages and the other two are knights of his. Yaku is from our tentative ally nation to the north."

Tetsurou shuddered at the thought of Bokuto killing him, unable to fully picture his loveable roommate being capable of such an act in their universe.

Shoving his fears aside, Tetsurou kept listing people in his circles. "Okay. Akaashi - "

"Holy mage."

"The Miya twins - "

"Northern Kingdom."

"Suna, Shimizu - "

"Actually, those two are employed in your palace."

Blinking at that revelation, Tetsurou cursed himself for not trying to cultivate relationships with them more in his home universe. He listed some more people off the top of his head, some that weren't the three in front of him. "Ushijima, Lev...Daishou?"

"Ushijima is a knight employed by Bokuto. Lev is from the Northern Kingdom and Daishou is the Northern Kingdom's ruler." Tetsurou nodded slowly at Koushi's confirmation, sinking down to sit on his bed. The other three joined him a moment later, draping their bodies over him in some way. "Don't worry, Tetsurou. Even though the majority of your friends want you to die a horrible death in this realm doesn't mean we are going to let that happen."

"Yeah, we'll kill them before they get a chance to even breathe the same air as you!" Satori promised, looking more excited at the prospect of killing than at protecting his lord.

Tooru stared long and hard at Tetsurou, sighing when he had found what he was looking for. "Tetsurou. You cannot think of them as friends or allies in this world. It will get you killed. When you get back home, you can be as buddy buddy with them as you want, but here? Here it is kill first, ask questions later, got it?"

Tetsurou squeezed his eyes shut, trying his hardest not to imagine himself having to kill his childhood best friend or the man he has been hopelessly in love with for years.

Thinking about Kenma, he got an idea.

If I just pretend that I am in a video game and the characters just so happen to look like people I know, I might be able to handle it.

Although satisfied with his plan Tetsurou still hoped he would return home before he ever faced any of his friends' dopplegangers.
