Hello Again

   (Aomine's pov.)

Finally, I got the week off.

Yeah, I tried playing for the NBA. It was fun for the first few months, but then started to get boring. It reminded me of how I felt in middle school. I didn't want to go through that again. I wanted to have fun while playing basketball.

I never wanted to hate it again.

So I quit in the fall.

After that, I got a apartment with the money I earned, and then got a job as a police officer. I've worked 8 hours a day, 6 days a week since the start of winter. I haven't got a weeks break since I joined the station. Everyone there has been really nice, and it reminded me of my teammates back home. Always joking around, and talking together. It made me realize what I was missing out on.

Walking down the back streets, I was heading to a basketball court that was usually vacant around this time.

"Er... Sorry, cannot go with you guys." I stopped in my tracks, looking down the alleyway between two buildings. My eyes widened when I saw familiar blonde hair and golden eyes. It was Kise. Kise Ryouta was here. But why was he here? Was he going to join the NBA? More questions flew through my mind, but then I noticed three people surrounding him.

"Whoa! A foreigner!" one of the surrounding guys said. "Interesting."

"Hey Kise!" I called in Japanese. "Catch!" I threw it at him, and the guys jumped to the side. Kise caught the ball, and looked at me. His eyes widened after realizing who I was.

"Aominecchi," he said, tears forming in his eyes.

"Whoa!" I exclaimed. "Why are you crying?" I quickly walked over to him, glaring at the other guys. They quickly scrambled away, rolling the basketball back towards us. Kise threw his arms around me, hugging me tightly.

   "Aominecchi!" he cried softly.

"Were you really that scared?" I asked him, smirking.

"Aominecchi. Aominecchi, I missed you." His words struck me by surprise, and I put my arms around him, petting his head. God I missed touching his hair like this. I rested my head against his, and sighed.

"I missed you KIse," I whispered on impulse.

   Crap.

I pushed away from Kise, and picked up the basketball.

"Why don't we play a little one-on-one?" I asked, grinning. Kise wiped away his tears, smiling.

"I won't loose!" We walked to the court, and saw it was empty. I took the ball first, and remembered I only played around my work schedule. I haven't properly played since last year. This was going to be a little tough.

"Come at me, Kise!" I exclaimed, running towards the net. He blocked, and we let our feet do the work. I broke passed, and scored first.

We continued playing, just like before, and a crowd started to gather around the court. I started doing my street ball moves, and Kise started having a hard time keeping up. Of course, before he started copying some of my easier moves.

"Why don't we call it a day," I said to him around 7. We were both really sweaty and hungry from all that work.

"Have you been playing recently, Aominecchi?" Kise asked. I flinched, turning away from him.

"Well, here and there," I said. I couldn't face him when I tell him I haven't played for 7 months.

"You seem out of shape. Are you practicing?"

"Well..." I sighed. "I quit the NBA before winter this year." Kise gasped. "It was getting boring. I didn't want to go through what we did in middle school. I didn't want to hate the one thing I loved."

"Aominecchi. What have you been doing now?"

"I work as a police officer."

Kise stayed quiet for a few moments, and then I felt his arms snake around my stomach. Its the first time we've ever had so much contact with each other before. Kise was being bold about it, though.

"Can I stay with you this week, Aominecchi? My hotel reservation ends tomorrow morning. I still have a few more days until I have to go back."

"That's fine." I really want to kiss him right now. He's so freakin cute!!

"Hey, Aominecchi." We started walking back, Kise's eyes pointed at the ground. "Why didn't you contact me."

Because hearing your vice would make me want to go back.

"I thought you'd be busy preparing for college," I lied.

"Oh." It might've been me, but I swore his voice almost made me start crying.

We arrived at his hotel, and I wrote down the address for my apartment. He waved to me, and smiled, but I knew that fake smile too well. As I started walking to my apartment, I felt someone drape their arm around my shoulder. Quickly pushing them away, I saw it was only one of the police men I worked with.

"So who's that?" he asked. "A friend from back home?"

"A friend and old teammate," I responded in English. "So why are you out in this part of town, Luke."

"Just wandering around," he answered. "A old friend of mine lives around here and they asked me to stop by for dinner. I'm heading there now. But enough about me, Daiki. Tell me more about your visiting friend."

"He and I use to play basketball together," I started. "Once as teammates and once as rivals. He claims I was the one who got him into basketball. I didn't know he was coming to visit. But I haven't talked to him since I left, so I can't just leave him."

"Sounds like you want to be more than friends," Luke said.

   "Huh!? No way!" I exclaimed.

"If you say so." Luke turned towards a side street. "I'll see you next week, Daiki!"

I walked the rest of the way in silence, and once getting to my apartment building, my phone buzzed. It was Satsuki. She usually called every few weeks to see how I was doing. She was the only one back home who knew I quit basketball and became a police officer.

"Yo, Satsuki," I answered the phone.

"Have you meet up with Ki-chan yet?" She asked.

   "Yeah. Today I did."

"Have you told him about your job?"

   "Yeah."

"Have you told home how you got the job? I mean, you're only a third year high school student."

"Not yet. I will tell him, though. I promise you that."

"Good. Now, when are you coming home? Have you kept up with your online studies?" I sighed. I had reached my apartment door now, and was rummaging through my pocket to find my key.

"Yes, I've been keeping up." Unlocking my door, I stepped inside and saw the messy, two room apartment I lived in.

"I've got to go. I really hope to see you soon, Dai-chan!"

"Talk to you later." I hung up, and grabbed a trash bag from under the sink. "Damn. It's been way to long since I've cleaned this place."

I started shoveling everything off my couch and table, making a laundry pile as well. There were empty pizza boxes, cans of soda, etc. After cleaning the main area, I went into my room. Dirty clothes everywhere. After adding them to the pile, I continued looking for trash. Finally having my room cleaned, I went over to look into the guest room. I put most of my unneeded stuff in there, and it was where every magazine Kise was in was kept. I closed the box with them, and slid them behind the door, closing it.

Kise wouldn't go snooping around, would he?
