Stiles runs through the situation for Charlie as they speed toward Derek's loft. Boyd's plan was to flood the loft and get the alpha pack into the room before electrocuting them. But apparently the power was cut so their advantage was now out the window.
Something churns in the girl's stomach, an uncomfortable feeling that makes its way into her bones. "Stiles you need to go faster." Something bad was going to happen.
"Wait, why? What's going on," his eyes flick to Charlie who had her jaw clenched, heart rate increasing.
"Just go!" She raises her voice and after a few seconds of hesitation, he shifts the jeep into the highest gear, speeding down the road.
The jeep quickly pulls into Derek's apartment, Charlie jumping out before it even started to slow. "Hey! Charlie, wait!" Stiles shouts after her but she continues despite his protest. Cora quickly follows, as well as Lydia when the jeep suddenly jolts to a stop.
"Where's the electrical room?" Charlie questions, her friend quickly guiding them to a small room with large switches
"Okay, uh, what do we do?" Stiles pauses, staring at the wall with a frown. They all stop for a second before Cora breaks the silence.
"We pull them. We pull all of them," she states, moving towards the switches.
"Wait, are you sure?" Charlie asks, reaching a hand out to grab the werewolf's arm which was reaching for a dial.
"Yes," Cora replies before twisting all the knobs, causing Lydia and Charlie to join. Stiles quickly pulls out his phone, warning Isaac that they were going to turn the power on. Cora and Lydia finally pull one last switch simultaneously, causing the room to suddenly light up brightly.
That feeling that Charlie pushed down suddenly grew again, moving from the pit of her stomach like acid up to the back of her throat. Before she even consciously makes the decision, Charlie runs out of the electrical room and up the stairs to Derek's apartment. "Join the pack, or next time I'm killing all of you," Kali voice echoes just as she reaches the door, the girl running into the room.
Charlie stops in her tracks at the sight of Boyd lying on the water-covered floor, blood slowly displacing it. Kali's gaze then catches her's, the women smirking a little. "You too, okami." The girl swallows once, glaring back as the alpha leaves the apartment.
She then walks forward slowly, taking in the mess that Kali had left. Derek was frantically trying to keep the pressure on Boyd's wounds, chest heaving as he watches his beta dying.
"It's okay," the younger werewolf breathes, coughing a little.
"No, no. No, it's not. It's not," is Derek's immediate reply, shaking his head.
"It's all okay," the beta werewolf replies weakly, lungs struggling to take in another breath.
"I'm sorry," the alpha's voice is muddled, tears breaking. Despite the futility of his actions, he was still putting pressure on Boyd's wounds, trying to save him.
"The full moon, that feeling. It was worth it. Did you know it was the lunar eclipse? I always wondered wh-what that felt like for one of us, for a werewolf," Boyd last sentence hangs in the air, accompanied by Derek's heaving breaths and the dripping of water.
It was at that point that Charlie reaches the two, just as the rest of the group enters the room. The girl's lips are pressed tightly together as she kneels down a little, eyes flicking over the body.
At the sight of her, Derek looks up desperately, a small amount of hope in his eyes. "Heal him," the man states weakly. "Heal him, please." At his request, Charlie frowns but nods anyway. It wouldn't do anything, he was already dead.
She kneels down slowly, hands shaking a little as she places them on top of Boyd's body. There was no blood moving, no tissue to stitch back together. There was no life.
Charlie leaves them there for a few seconds before letting out a breath and taking her hands away. At the movement, Derek frowns. "Why are you stopping?" His voice has an undertone of acid, a deep anger.
"Derek," she replies, her quiet voice a contrast to his. Her gaze flicks to Cora who had walked up behind her brother.
"No, why are you stopping," his voice grows louder, the man finally letting his beta go from his tight grip.
"It won't work."
"No, if you just-just give it a minute, you can heal him," Derek protests but Charlie is already shaking her head. "Just try again," the alpha was getting angrier and more panicked, the girl moving to stand up as he does the same. "Try again."
"It's no use Derek," Charlie grits her teeth a little, letting out a tense breath.
"No, try again," she's already shaking her head. "Try again! Just heal him!" The man steps forward, now yelling into the quiet loft. "Heal him!" He moves forward to grip her wrist tightly as if trying to force her back to Boyd's body.
"Let go of me Derek," Charlie replies to the angered werewolf. Cora had now come to Derek's side and was trying to pull him away. "Let go."
"Heal him!" At this she rips her arm away, eyes now glowing brightly at the extra strength it took to push him off.
"It's too late! It's over Derek," she then yells back, heart beating faster. "I can't heal someone that's already dead," her voice goes quieter and at her statement, it's as if someone had ripped the life out of the man.
His legs buckle a little as he sags downward, staring blankly at Boyd's body. The only noise in the loft was the sound of Derek's heavy gasping as he struggled to process what had happened. Charlie then takes a few steps back, but despite being away from the danger her heart just beat faster. She looked down at her hands which were stained with dark red blood and suddenly it's like she was back in New York, the night she had left.
She had to get out of here.
The girl knows what her fast heart rate means, what the feeling pressing into her mind is. It was going to happen. Charlie looks at Cora who was watching her with a cautious gaze before nodding a few times. She could take care of Derek.
She then forces her legs to move, not even really seeing Stiles or Lydia who were standing at the door when she pushes past them and runs down the stairs. Her heart rate increases even more and air tears through her lungs as she moves out of the building and into the neighboring forest.
The only sound in the darkened forest was her gasping breaths, blue eyes burning brightly into the trees.
It takes a few seconds, but it's like everything that makes up who she is, is displaced. She's out of her body, lost in the feeling of adrenaline, her muscles shifting and changing. When she comes to, the scenery is sharper and she suddenly notices the sound of a fast heartbeat and shaky breaths.
She thinks differently like this, the spirit in her mind is in control. When she's human it's in her subconscious, pulling at her mind every now and then. But when she's like this, as a wolf, it's different. It's almost like she's shoved away, hidden.
She turns, sharp gaze locking onto the human. Stiles. The off-white aura surrounding him is what makes the wolf relax, to stop growling.
"Charlie?" The boy questions, his heart still pounding in his chest as he frowns. "Oh wow, okay, it is you," he states to himself and the wolf tilts its head a little. "And it seems you can understand me, right," Stiles nods to himself, calming down slightly. His phone chimes once, the noise setting her off a little, muscles tensing again. The boy checks it, releasing a relieved breath. "Uh, Charlie, it's Scott, he got to Deaton in time," he winces a little at his tone of voice. "I really hope you're you and I'm not talking to some random wolf in the woods."
At his ramble, the girl is able to take control of herself a bit more, the balance shifting in her mind. She then moves forward, staring at him openly and the boy relaxes. He then crouches down a little, the spirit immediately feeling uneasy but she pushes back against it. "Okay don't bite me," Stiles states before reaching a hand outward. Her nose twitches a little and she then pushes her head forward so that his hand runs over her head. "Okay wow, uh, not that this isn't fun but how do you change back? I mean, if you can, unless this is permanent? I don't know-"
The spirit takes over a little, letting out a huff of air before scanning the area. After deciding there was no immediate threat, it relinquishes its control and moves back to her subconscious. Charlie then moves to walk behind a tree, feeling her body shift back to its natural state.
It takes a minute, the girl taking a few deep breaths before standing up, back in control. "Uh, Charlie?" Stiles's voice breaks into the quietness of the woods.
"Yes?" She frowns, confused at his tone.
"You okay?" The girl then pauses for a second before looking down, letting out a huff.
"Any chance I can borrow your flannel?" Charlie asks after a beat, covering her chest with her arm as she stays behind the tree.
"Wait, why?"
"Because I'm naked Stiles," she deadpans, causing the boy to choke a little, coughing as he gasps.
"O-oh right, yep, okay yes," Stiles then walks toward her, taking off his flannel before throwing a hand over his eyes and brandishing it towards her general direction. Charlie grabs it off him and puts it on. She then walks out from behind the tree, staring at the boy who still had his eyes closed.
"Stiles?" She questions, but the boy still keeps them closed, humming to himself slightly. She then pulls his hand away from his eyes, the boy letting out a yelp before adjusting his gaze.
"Oh right," he states blinking once. "You're not naked anymore."
"No," she replies before letting out a breath as she runs a hand through her hair. "I suppose you have questions?" Charlie asks. It takes a few seconds for the boy to catch up before nodding.
"Oh yeah, a whole bunch."
