Sana oil. China Oil. Hope all. Naol.
Perhaps hindi na bago sa pandinig niyo ang words na ito since these are all variations of the expression, "Sana All". And kung ikaw ay isa sa mga addicted sa pag-scroll buong maghapon sa phone mo buong maghapon, I'm sure you've encountered this one na.
But for those na hindi nakakaalam, at hindi masyadong nagso-social media, let's be inclusive and explain, ano nga ba ang ibig sabihin ng mga katagang "Sana All."
Pero sa pagdaan ng panahon mapapansin nating hindi na lamang ito simpleng expression but instead, it has become a part of our culture. Lalong lalo na online. So, I tried digging deep to answer the following questions:
Una, Kailan nga ba talaga nag-start ang ganitong culture?
Second, Bakit mahilig mag-sana all ang mga Filipinos especially netizens?
At panghuli, dapat ba nating hayaan ang sarili natin na kapag may nakitang maganda, or successful, or something grand — automatic ang "Sana All" natin?
To be honest, it was not easy to find where it originated dahil when you search it on google, ang bubungad sa 'yo: Urban Dictionary, some random blogs, pati ang music video ng kantang Sana All by an artista / vlogger turned singer na si Miss Ivana Alawi. This is until napanood ko ang isang August 2017 clip ng It's Showtime.
In the video, makikita mo na aliw na aliw ang audience at si Vice Ganda kay Toni Marie Garcia Illustre. Siya'y isang Miss Q and A contestant na sinasabi palagi ang "Sana Lahat" sa mga sagot niya. I think it stuck around and it actually made sense na dito nauso ang expression dahil marami rami na ring phrases ang sumikat dahil sa Showtime like "rakenrol to the world" of Ryan Rems and Vice Ganda's "eh di wow".
Haba. *Laughs*
He also explained na from that phrase, pinaiksi ito nang pinaiksi kaya naging ~
"Sana Lahat May Ganiyan"
"Sana Lahat Ganyan"
"Sana Lahat"
Then later on, it became Sana All.
The 2-word slang is considered a joke which is bentang benta sa mga Filipino netizen. Dahil tayong mga Pilipino, we like making things light. But one thing that piqued my interest is a tweet from @YearoftheMonSy (?) last October 2018. There, he said:
TRIVIA: The phrase SANA ALL was first popularized by Karl Marx & Friedrich Engels in their phenomenal work "The Manifesto of the Communist Party" as a plea to distribute wealth and the means of production across the population.
Dagdag pa ang slogan na popularized by Marx's "Critique of the Gotha program" but originated from a famous French politician and historian, Louis Blanc. (Nosebleed!!)
They said, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs." In which Marx explained na kapag daw ang isang communist society ay na-establish, it will produce enough goods and services so that everyone's needs can be satisfied.
Pantay-pantay lahat. Makukuha ng lahat ang makukuha ng isa. Sana all!
Imagine, people have equal access to their necessities, this is the epitome of Sana All.
But... in our case, ano nga ba ang usual hugot ng "Sana All" ng mga netizen? And by saying "Sana All", do they really mean it? Is it really just an inside joke, or a habit of Filipinos? And do they really consider everyone every time they say this phrase?
Or... "sana all" actually a silent cry of what we really want as an individual?
Our society, especially in our Filipino Family Culture, it conditioned us that we should prioritize the needs of others first before us. A mask or indirectness of what we really want in life.
Remember the quote, "The grass is always greener on the other side"?
We tend to look at someone's back, not knowing that someone else is looking at our back. It's an unending series and an unbreakable chain, kaya napapaulit-ulit din ang flex culture which was the topic na in-address ko last week.
What I'm saying is that the cycle of Flex and Sana All Culture becomes problematic because it subconsciously promotes inggit. 😲
We're subconsciously downplaying what we have in our life kaya we "plea" to have what the others have.
While yes, it might help someone move to reach their goals, but pwede ko ring ipasok ang questions like gusto ba natin makuha ang isang bagay dahil ito talaga ang gusto natin?
But let's say one day, matupad ang kaka-"Sana all", you know, mag-manifest at maging pantay pantay na talaga ang lahat — same talent, success, knowledge – can we still appreciate what we have if lahat ay pare-parehas na? 😳
Like always, I'll end this video with a question:
Kung nakuha mo ang mga kinaiinggitan sa iba na tinatago mo sa "sana all", can we still consider what makes the real you, Y O U ?
Let's ponder on that, yes?
Drop down your comments below and let's discern! Stay pressed and think more.
That's it for today's video, dudes.

I like the point here! Not the talent, success, knowledge.

@YOULUH I also considered this path while writing my script especially that I dipped a little bit on that area but usually, ang sina-sana all ng netizens is not the basic neccessity so I decided to not to go on that route. Hope that's okay!

@your manila girl Haha oo naman. 😭
