Chapter 2: Monday
Yes, I used to be a fish. A goldfish, to be precise. The only memory my five-second memory span ever recorded was the drift of the plastic-like seaweed and the blur of the world beyond the glass walls of the tank. Maybe that's why this human form of me wears glasses. A remnant of that glass wall and that strangely penetrating eyesight.
As for Monday, he was a cat who used to be human.
You're going to be late.
Green eyes followed my coffee cup as I set it down and check the clock. My phone buzzed nearly simultaneously.
"Oh shit! It's already 7:45? I promised to meet Sara at 8!"
See, I told you.
"Thanks a lot, Monday."
No problem. Anytime.
I shoveled on my shoes and grabbed the keys and notebook, shoved them in my backpack, and raced down the stairs to the garage.
