Chapter 39
Thalia's POV
I was not prepared for the sight that awaited me when I stepped into the God's throne room on Olympus. It was destroyed, if I had not seen it in its splendor, I would have had no idea it used to a throne room.
"The Gods would have fixed this place immediately, they would have made it presentable at least," Luke said as he looked around.
"Then it's true," I said. "The Gods really aren't back, but then how did the campers get claimed?"
Luke's face showed his alarm. He had hoped it wasn't true and that we would find at least one God to show that order was being restored to the world.
"We have to tell the others," He said as he grabbed my hand and we teleported back.
Hazel's POV
"Do you really think that's a good idea right now?" I asked Frank.
We had gone for a picnic on the beach to get away from the other campers during lunch.
"We're Praetors of Rome, it's our duty to do what best for Rome," He said.
"But we're so small in numbers, and we're not sure this war is over. Wouldn't it be foolish to go and establish a new camp or try to reclaim our old one?" I asked.
"Maybe," He relented, "But Romans and Greeks don't mix well, with Chaos we had some separation but here we're all together. Haven't you noticed all the arguments and fights that have started breaking out?"
He was right. Since we had arrived back on earth the campers had been getting restless. I wanted to go back to Camp Jupiter and rebuild. But right now, we need to stay united.
"We will go back to Camp soon, but for now we have to stick together. There is still a war that must be finished," I said, reaching my hand out for his, "We can do this Frank, we're going to get through this, and Rome will be as strong as ever."
Leo's POV
I hate nightmares. They make me want to set myself on fire just so I don't have to see all the terrors in store for me. One of the many perks of being a chaos soldier is the dreamless sleep. The immortality isn't that bad either.
Unfortunately, this dream proved to be an exception.
I was a kid again, sitting on a picnic bench, a picnic bench with a pair of hands burnt into the top.
Leo Valdez, how I've long wished to repay you for your interference with my rise.
I know that voice. How is she alive? I died to put her back to sleep!
A cold dark laughter filled the dream. You really thought you could put a permanent stop to my plan? True you delayed it and even now I can not fully form, but I have enough energy to raise my children and they shall take care of the rest. Without you working together you will fail, I shall not allow you to defeat me again, Valdez.
The scene changed to a dark room, for a moment I thought it might be a dungeon, which would be so cool to visit, but then I saw who was in the cell, Annabeth, unconscious on the floor. She had fallen into the hands of Dirt Face's minions.
