Chapter 38

Luke's POV

"Father, the Gods have returned and there has been no trace of the man called Glitter," I reported to the hologram of Chaos.

"I assume that is your way of asking if you are allowed to return home?" He asked.

"Not exactly," I said. "The campers have no more need of our help, so why should we stay? Let us focus all our efforts on finding Annabeth."

"If she left of her own free will like you believe then perhaps she just needs space." Chaos said. He didn't seem to worried.

"And didn't you say the Glitter was still on the loose? Maybe you should try to catch him before you go chasing after her?" Chaos said.

"If you wanted us to capture him, then why did you make us hold Jessie hostage? If you wanted him captured, then we need to know what Jessie knows about him."

"True, I do believe that you will have no more trouble from Glitter, and you have trained the campers." Chaos said, looking like he was debating about something.

"While you do make a good point, tell me child, has anyone actually seen the Gods?" Chaos asked before cutting the connection, leaving me alone with only a potted plant.

Thalia's POV

"What do you mean the Gods are missing?" Leo asked.

Luke had gathered us for a meeting shortly after talking to Chaos. Apparently, Chaos thought we had more pressing issues to worry about then our missing member. He had insisted we stay at camp for the time being.

"Think about it," Luke said. "Has anyone actually seen any sign they were back besides the claiming?"

"Well its not like they visited their kid's soccer games back when they were in power. They were pretty distant," I said.

"Yes, but Chaos thought it was suspicious, so I think a couple of us should go to Olympus and see for ourselves," He suggested as he stood up. "Who wants to go with me?"

"I'll go," I volunteered. I was Co-commander after all.

"Okay and we'll keep searching for Annabeth, she has to show up sometime, right?" Leo asked. None of us wanted to think the worst.

"Okay then it's agreed," Luke said as he created a portal, "After you M'lady."

I rolled my eyes and stepped through the portal.

Annabeth's POV

"Who are you?" I asked the monster in front of me, she looked like a mix of animal, bronze and ghosts, an Empousa.

"Oh, has time really taken away your memory Annabeth Chase?" she sneered.

"Kelli," I recognized her now, I haven't seen her since the pit, she'd made it out of Tartarus then.

"Unfortunately, I don't get to kill you, yet. My mistress has big plans for you," She smiled. An empousa's smile is not pretty, but I couldn't look away.

"You planning to spill more of my blood to wake some evil Goddess?" I managed to ask.

She just smiled again as she hit my head with the hilt of her sword and my sight went black.
