Chapter 27

Luke's POV

Annabeth and I were heading back to the Chaos cabin after the meeting when we saw a satyr outside the cabin. It took me a moment before I realized it was Grover.

He saw us coming and turned to meet us instead of knocking on the door.

"Is something wrong?" I asked, trying to disguise my voice, even though I doubt he would remember it after so many years.

"I know where you get your soldiers!" He blurted out. Thankfully no one else was nearby, so we were the only ones to hear.

I met Annabeth's eyes and she nodded, before slipping inside.

"Calm down, uh, what is your name?" I asked pretending that I didn't know him.

"Grover, my name is Grover." He said proudly.

"Well, Grover, step inside, we need to talk."

He followed me inside into an empty room. Annabeth had warned everyone to disappear for a few minutes while we had company.

"What is it you think you know about us?" I asked, half hoping that he didn't really know anything.

"All of the soldiers, they're dead. Everyone in the army is from the Underworld. That's why you wear the mask, you don't want people here to recognize you. Who were you?"

I stared at him in shock. Annabeth came in then and took of her mask. She didn't bother to ask for permission.

"Annabeth?" Grover asked. I could see tears forming in his eyes.

"Annabeth! You shouldn't have done that!" I scolded her, knowing that I wanted to do the same thing.

"He already knows though, and besides he's Grover," She shrugged.

"Who are you?" Grover asked again," You sound familiar."

Sighing I took off my mask. Grover gasped before rushing over to hug me.

"Is the rumor true? Are you really allowing mortals into our cabin Archí?" Thalia asked as she walked in with her mask on.

"Not just any mortal," Annabeth grinned as Grover turned around.

"Grover!" Thalia squealed as she ran to hug him. She pulled off her mask to show him her face before giving him another big hug.

"Group hug!" Grover shouted. We were all so happy that we actually followed his orders. The rest of the army came in to find us all hugging each other as if our lives depended on it.

Everyone else in the army took of their masks and introduced themselves. Some of the soldiers Grover recognized, some he didn't.

We all were relaxing in our huge living room when it occurred to Annabeth to ask," How did you know that we were alive?"

"I didn't," Grover said, starting to sound a little nervous.

Rocky asked the next question," You didn't? Then why did you come here and say that you knew? Did you just guess that we were people that had already died?"

"A friend told me that Luke and Thalia were still alive, and the only way I thought that was possible was if you were in the Army. The only other way I think it would be possible to come back to life would be if you were raised by the Gods or Titans. I know the Gods rarely did that and I knew you would never fight for the Titans."

"Well, some people will surprise you," I said without really thinking about it.

"Yeah, I know about that," Grover surprised me.

"Did you see him too?" I asked. If Percy had wanted it to stay a secret, then why would he tell someone? He did say that Grover knew he was alive though.

"Yes, twice. He might have saved my life," Grover said.

"What are you two talking about? Who did you see?" Annabeth demanded.

Poor Annabeth. She didn't know. I had never wanted to tell her, never wanted to ruin her image of Percy.

"She doesn't know?" Grover asked.

"No one does, except maybe Chaos, but I didn't tell him," I explained.

"What is going on? What do I not know?"

"Should I tell her, or do you want to?" Grover asked.

"Everyone, please leave us alone for a few minutes," I asked but no one moved," That is an order!"

Everyone cleared out of there quickly, everyone but Grover, Annabeth, and Thalia.

"Whatever you have to say to Annabeth, you can say to me," She demanded.

I didn't argue with her, I just wanted to get this over with. I didn't look her or Annabeth in the eyes as I forced out the words," Percy isn't dead, and he isn't a prisoner. He has all the freedom he wants. He is helping, or was helping, the Titans. He is the reason the Titans won last time; he was the man in the gold."

I didn't see their reaction; I only heard a few gasps and a door slam. When I looked up, Grover and I were the only ones left in the room.
