Chapter 26
Grover's POV
I was taking a walk on the beach when I almost had a heart attack.
The day had started out normal enough, breakfast, and then a walk on the beach. I liked to walk on the beach sometimes, it reminded me of Percy and a time when life was so much simpler. All of my friends were alive, and we were killing monsters together.
Anyways, I was staring at the sea when someone came up from behind me and attacked me. I reached for my pipes but couldn't reach them.
"Calm down!" A voice called, almost laughing.
"Let go of me!" I screamed.
"It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you," The voice said as he let me go. I was able to get a good look at my attacker. He was young and athletic, and strangely familiar. It took me a minute to place him.
"Percy?" I whispered.
He smiled," I thought for a minute you had forgotten me."
"You're alive?" I asked before shouting," You're alive!"
"Shhhh," He gestured for me to stop," I don't want people to know I'm alive okay? Keep it quiet."
"Okay, sorry, I just can't believe it, I thought you were dead."
"Do you have that little faith in me? Besides, I can't die, I'm a Titan now," He explained. The smile on my face quickly disappeared.
"Yeah, are you still fighting for them? Did you become a monster?" I asked, turning away from him.
"Grover," He said, "I'm not a monster, I told you that day, I work for myself, not the Gods, and defiantly not the Titans."
"Did you know that they were destroyed? The Titans no longer rule, and the Gods have not returned."
"Yeah, I know, there is no ruler," He said, no emotion in his voice.
I heard someone walking down towards the beach.
"If you don't want anyone knowing your alive, then I would suggest you leave," I advised, even I could hear how cold my voice sounded.
"Grover," He started, but decided to leave instead before someone found him. I found myself wishing he had finished what he was going to say. Wishing that he hadn't left.
"Oh, hello," An unfamiliar voice said as they approached.
I turned around and recognized him as the new camper. The boy that Chiron thought knew something about the Titans' downfall.
"Hello," I replied," The sea can be very calming can't it?"
"Yeah, I've always loved it. It's like I have this connection to it, sorry, that sounds crazy."
"No, it doesn't. Maybe your father is Poseidon. Do you know which parent was a God?" I asked curious and wanting any excuse to take my mind off Percy.
"Maybe, I lived with my mom, so it's my dad I am looking for. I don't know anything about him though. Just what my mom told me, that he was handsome and nice," the boy explained.
"Well, then you can at least rule out Ares, he's anything but nice."
The boy laughed, " Glitter never talked-" He was cut off by a loud screech and someone cursing very loudly. It was coming from behind some bushes nearby.
The boy approached the bush, wondering what was behind it. I was curious too, but I was worried that it might be Percy, and I didn't want the kid to find him. He may not know who Percy was, but he could find out.
"Wait," I call," You don't know what's behind there!"
The boy ignored me and pushed aside some bushes to reveal none other than Percy.
He let out a few more curse words before getting up and stretching a hand out towards the boy. He muttered something under his breath, and the boy fell. I hurried and managed to catch him before he fell.
"What was that for?" I exclaimed.
"He shouldn't have found me. If it weren't for that nosy squirrel-"
"You should have left already," I cut him off.
"I still wanted to talk to you, I had something I needed to tell you."
"What?" I snapped, still angry at him for knocking the boy out.
"Luke and Thalia are alive."
With that he disappeared in a flash, leaving me speechless, trying to understand what he had just said. Luke and Thalia were alive? That was impossible, unless....
I picked up the boy and ran toward the infirmary. I needed to see the soldiers.
