Chapter 15

Percy's POV

I waited for him to strike me dead, or call for the other guards, but he just stood there watching me with something close to fear, and was that awe?

"Percy Jackson, you're alive," He whispered as he removed his mask. The person behind the mask was someone I never thought I would see again, Luke Castellan.

"Never thought I'd see this day, you siding with Kronos, and me fighting for the Gods."

"Nice to see you to, Luke," I muttered.

"Aw, come on, that's no way to greet an old friend, but then trying to kill them and his army isn't the way either. Why did you just attack us and only us?"

"Kronos knew the campers would be easy to take out, he didn't want to waste me on them. He wanted you out, sorry about that, who else is in the army?" I asked curiously.

"Some demigods you knew, and some who never got to camp, they went straight to us. I don't think I should tell you their names if you're just going to try to kill us anyways, unless that would convince you otherwise?" He had to ask the very thing I hoped he wouldn't.

"And why didn't you go to Elysium to be with Annabeth?"

"Kronos and Gaia somehow sidetracked me, and I pretty much had no choice. As far as I know, Wise Girl is waiting in Elysium for me, and I will never be able see her again," I managed to explain without killing something or crying my eyes out.

"I'm sorry," Luke said, trying to be nice.

"Thanks, I guess, Luke, could you do something for me?" I decided to ask.

"Depends, what?" his eyes narrowed in suspicion as he asked.

"When you die, tell Annabeth something for me, will you?" I asked not able to meet his eyes.

He hesitated for a moment, "What do you want me to say to her?"

"Tell her I love her, and I miss her, and that I won't be able to join her, so she shouldn't wait for me."

"I will, I promise, just do one thing for me,"

"What?" I asked already suspicious.

"I know you don't really hate all the demigods, so don't let all of them suffer because of what their siblings and parents did. Try to help them if you can, for Annabeth?" He held out his hand to shake.

I thought about it for a minute. In the end I reached out and shook his hand," Deal."

Luke smiled,' Okay, I'll try to get a safe place for you to bring them to."

"Luke, one more thing, please don't tell anyone you saw me, don't tell anyone I'm alive, please," I called after him before he could get away.

He turned back to look at me," I won't tell anyone about this, I promise."

"You better keep it," I said, I don't want anyone to know how low I've fallen.

"I will," He said before turning around again and bending down to pick up Leo's body.

"Goodbye Luke," I said quietly.

"Goodbye Percy," He said without looking at me, before walking away back towards the makeshift camp.

With that I left, the battle was won, the Gods would be quick to fall without their child soldiers, and the demigods had been punished enough. So, after creating a portal to some random place, I stepped through to a new life. A new life where I wouldn't have to think about Gods and Monsters, a life where I could just be normal.

Piper's POV

When I woke up the next morning, I saw Leo. Archí said that he had found the body abandoned in the woods and had brought it back to camp. We said our final goodbye to him that morning.

After breakfast, Archí called everyone together," Ok, we are going to create a portal to Chaos's realm. Brace yourselves, the first trip through a portal can be very strenuous."

"Also, before we leave, I would like to know who would be willing to come back, after they get some training, to set up a base here, and protect younger demigods. Who would be willing to volunteer?" Archí asked the crowd of tired campers.

"I volunteer," Reyna said as she stepped forward.

"Me too," Hazel followed. Soon we had about ten campers, Reyna, Calypso, Hazel, Frank, Nico, Will, and a few younger campers, Taya, Tony, Karen, and Charlie. After they got some more training, they would be coming back to start up a safe place for demigods. A few more campers might join them after a while. I thought about it, but I didn't think I would ever want to return to Earth.

Just as the Chaos army started to create the portals, a figure emerged from the woods around the clearing. Everyone reached for their weapon before we realized who it was, Grover.

"Did I miss the battle?" He asked as he examined us.

"We are leaving for Chaos's realm, you are welcome to stay here, or go with us," Owl girl, or something like that, informed him.

"No thanks," He offered a weary smile," I have to go find my family, and help any other demigods still out there."

"Some people will be back to help you soon, after they get some training," Archí told him.

Everyone started filling through the portals. When I got through to the other side, I couldn't breathe. It was magnificent. We had appeared in a huge throne room where several masked figures were standing, as if waiting for us.

"Soldiers," Archí addressed them," Please take our guests to the visitor's palace."

The soldier motioned for us to follow them. They led us out through long corridors with many huge beautifully woven tapestries. Eventually we came out into a courtyard. There were so many flowers and trees around, some looked familiar, and some looked like the stuff of fairy tales. The sky was what really caught my attention. It was a bright purple on one side, and a beautiful shade of orange on the other. There were multiple suns on the orange side, and multiple moons on the purple side.

All too soon we were entering another building. It was less extravagantly decorated, but still elegant. We were assigned to our rooms. It was similar to camp where we shared the room with our siblings, but considerably less in one room. The girls took the second floor, and the boys took the first floor. At least I won't have to deal with my annoying brothers, but I still have to deal with my sisters. Thankfully Drew was not one of my new roommates, my new roommates were girls I didn't really know very well, but also had no reason to dislike.

We were told to get settled in; we would be called for dinner soon. We didn't have much to do so I just claimed a bed and lost myself in my own thoughts. I didn't feel like getting to know new people.

Jason's POV

Chaos requested all of us to appear before him in the throne room. He wanted a detailed report on what happened.

Luke filled him in, the only part he left out was Leo's death, which I guess wouldn't have mattered to Chaos anyways.

"What's the matter Jason?" Chaos asked me wondering why I was so silent.

"Nothing," I lied. I didn't want to bother him with it.

"Thalia, what happened?" Chaos asked knowing that she always knew what was bothering me.

Thalia looked at me for a long moment before answering," A friend died in the fighting, Leo Valdez."

"How?"

"A figure in a golden cape and mask, he was controlling the hellhounds, he ordered the fatal strike," I reluctantly said. I didn't want to bother him, but he had asked.

Luke looked like he wanted to argue with my statement, but he said nothing. He seemed to be in deep thought.

"Well, with your poor performance on this assignment, it looks like you may need more help. Perhaps this boy could join the army? He is a pretty powerful demigod, he could prove to be of great use to us," Chaos suggested.

I looked up, smiling for the first time since I saw Leo's lifeless body," Really?"

Chaos nodded," I will try to talk to Hades soon, it will have to be done quickly before Kronos manages to get a hold of the Underworld.

"May I request one more soul Father?" Luke asked using the name he wanted us to address him with. Luke was Chaos's favorite, whatever he asked was almost always given to him. The same usually applied to the rest of us in his army, but there was no denying it, Luke was Chaos's favorite.

"Whose may I ask?" Chaos asked curious.

"Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena," Luke replied stunning us all.

Luke and Thalia had talked about her. They had wanted her to join us, but had decided to let her stay with Percy in Elysium, so why was he trying to bring her back?

"Very well, I will look for her soul. Unless anyone else has someone they wish me to bring back, I must be going. Kronos will not hold off for long before trying to capture the Underworld."

He disappeared in a cloud of purple smoke leaving us to all glare at Luke.
