Chapter 13

Nico's POV

I hate monsters. One minute you're enjoying a nice breakfast of bacon, and then the next, you have a monster as your dinner guest. Monsters are really rude, and I would suggest you never invite one over for dinner. They are so picky; they refuse to eat anything you prepare. Instead, they prefer a specialty called roasted demigod. Like I said, picky.

Anyways, one minute I was eating some bacon, when I hear a shout ring out. Piper, Will and I shared a look of dread. We were under attack.

Piper's POV

Nico, Will and I rushed to Half Blood Hill and took a good look at our enemy. There were at least two thousand, more than 4 times our numbers.

"Get all the kids under 12, and anyone who is injured, and get them out of here. I don't care how, just get them to safety," Will ordered some of the older satyrs.

Soon the kids and the nymphs and satyrs, who either couldn't or didn't want to fight, had disappeared into the woods. The rest of the camp had assembled. Some people were distracted by the mess from the night before, that some people hadn't been able to wash off.

We had just gotten everyone ready when the enemy army reached us. We collided with the clang of metal on metal. Every now and then, I would see a figure in a gold cape and mask running around. He seemed to be targeting the Chaos soldiers, who were easy to find in their sky-blue cloaks.

I saw one of them go down, but before the gold figure could finish them off, they rose again and managed to get a good blow in.

We were losing, badly. I could see at least 300 dead bodies, most of which were demigods. I hadn't seen Hazel, Frank, or Leo, in a while. I was surrounded by hellhounds and couldn't see a way to escape. I raised my knife and the sword I had grabbed from the armory. I was determined to go down fighting.

All of a sudden, thehellhounds turned around and ran towards the golden guy, he must have summonedthem to help them, but one refused to obey, and ran towards me. I had my knifeready but didn't need it. The beast fell right in front of me with a swordsticking out of their back. Leo had dealt the fatal blow. The problem though, adracaena was behind him, and he had no sword. I tried to warn him to duck, toget out of the way so I could throw my knife at her, but it was too late. Thedagger cut his throat and he fell.
