65. Indraprastha
As Krishna, Devashree, and Subhadra set off on their journey to Indraprastha, the atmosphere was filled with a mix of excitement and curiosity.
The sun shone brightly as their chariot moved swiftly through the scenic landscapes of Aryavarta. Krishna guided the horses with ease, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride for the two women.
"Bhratashree, you mentioned Indraprastha so suddenly. I have never heard of it before. Can you tell us more about it?" Subhadra couldn't contain her curiosity any longer
Krishna smiled, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Patience, Subhadre. You will see soon enough.
Subhadra turned to her Bhabhishree with a pout, her brows furrowed in frustration.
"Bhabhishree, Bhrata Krishna is not telling me anything," she complained, her voice tinged with impatience. "He's being so secretive about it. Can't he just tell us more about it?"
Devashree chuckled softly at Subhadra's impatience, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Oh, Subhadra, you know how he is," she replied, her tone gentle. "He enjoys keeping us on our toes, always teasing us with hints and riddles."
"But it's not fair," Subhadra protested, crossing her arms over her chest. "I just want to know what all the fuss is about. It's driving me crazy!"
Devashree placed a comforting hand on Subhadra's shoulder, her smile reassuring. "I understand, dear. But knowing Krishna, there's probably something special about Indraprastha that he wants us to experience firsthand."
Subhadra let out a sigh of frustration, her pout deepening. "I suppose you're right," she admitted reluctantly. "But sometimes, I wish he would just be straightforward for once."
Devashree couldn't help but laugh at Subhadra's frustration, her amusement bubbling up as she looked at her young sister-in-law's exasperated expression. "Oh, Subhadra," she said between giggles, "knowing Krishna, the earth might split open and the sky might fall before he reveals his secrets."
Subhadra couldn't help but smile at Devashree's playful remark, her annoyance melting away in the warmth of her words. "You're probably right," she admitted with a chuckle. "I guess I'll just have to learn to be patient, even if it kills me."
As they continued their journey, the scenery began to change. The lush green fields gave way to more rugged terrain and the chariot came to a halt at the edge of a large clearing,
Upon arriving, they saw the Pandavas standing together, their faces etched with concern.
Yudhishthira stood with a furrowed brow, deep in thought about the challenges of building a new kingdom from scratch. Bheem looked restless, while Arjun, Nakul, and Sahadeva shared quiet words of encouragement. Draupadi stood with them, her eyes reflecting both worry and hope.
As Krishna, Devashree, and Subhadra approached, Arjun's expressions transformed from worry to joy.
"Madhav!" Arjun called, rushing forward with a broad smile.
The rest of the Pandavas turned, their faces lighting up. Draupadi's eyes widened with delight, and she hurried forward with Arjun. As they reached Krishna, Devashree, and Subhadra, the greetings began in earnest.
"Pranipat, Bhrata Yudhishthira," Krishna said, bowing respectfully to his elder cousin.
Yudhishthira smiled warmly and placed a hand on Krishna's head, giving him his blessings."Welcome, Krishna," Yudhishthira said. "Its good to see you here, we did not expect such a surprise."
"Yes,it's good to see you, Krishna. We were just wondering how we would manage all this," Bheem clapped Krishna on the shoulder, nearly knocking him off balance.
Krishna smiled. "Don't worry, Bhrata. Together, we will make this place flourish."
Arjun, unable to contain his excitement, rushed forward and enveloped Krishna in a tight hug. "Madhav! You always appear when we need you the most," he exclaimed, his voice choked with emotion.
Krishna laughed and hugged him back. "I wouldn't miss it for the world, Parth."
Draupadi also, could hardly contain her excitement.
When she saw Devashree and Subhadra, she rushed forward, her face glowing with happiness. "Devashree! Subhadra!" she called out, her voice filled with warmth.
"Draupadi," Devashree replied, embracing her warmly. "It's so good to see you."
"Devashree, it's been too long," Draupadi exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine affection.
"It truly has, Draupadi," Devashree replied with a smile, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "But I must say, you look positively radiant. It seems your husbands are treating you well."
Draupadi blushed at the teasing remark, a shy smile playing on her lips. "Oh, Devashree, don't you tease me so. But yes, my husbands have been very attentive lately. They've been supportive and caring, especially during these uncertain times."
"Oh, Draupadi, don't be so modest," Devashree teased, a playful smirk tugging at the corners of her lips. "We all know the truth. It's written all over you."
"Enough about me. How are you feeling? Govind mentioned you were feeling a bit under the weather."
Devashree's expression softened as she glanced towards Krishna, who was engaged in conversation with the Pandavas. "I'm better now, thanks to his care and attention. He's always been there for me, just like he's there for all of us."
"Bhabhishree is not just feeling under the weather," Subhadra began, her voice tinged with excitement. "She's feeling a bit queasy because... she's expecting!"
Draupadi's eyes widened in surprise, her hand flying to her mouth in shock. "Really?!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with joy. "Oh, Devashree, that's wonderful news!"
Devashree blushed at the sudden attention, a smile spreading across her face at Draupadi's reaction. "Yes, it's true," she confirmed, her voice filled with happiness.
Draupadi rushed forward, engulfing Devashree in another warm embrace. "Congratulations, Devashree! I'm so happy for you both," she exclaimed, her eyes shining with genuine joy.
"Ah, the ladies are conspiring again, I see," Krishna teased as he approched from behind them.
Draupadi rolled her eyes with a smile. "Oh, Krishna, you know we're just catching up. Is that such a crime?"
"Conspiring without me is always a crime," Krishna replied with mock seriousness.
"Well, a crime has already been committed, Govind!" Draupadi seized the opportunity to turn the tables.
"What crime?" Krishna asked, playing along.
"Aha, don't act so innocent now Sakha, care to explain why you didn't inform me about this wonderful news yourself, that you are going to be a father soon?" she teased, her tone laced with mock accusation.
" My dear Sakhi, I simply wanted to leave the honor of sharing the news to these lovely ladies," he replied smoothly, his eyes dancing with amusement.
Draupadi narrowed her eyes, not buying his excuse for a moment. "Oh, is that so?" she retorted, crossing her arms over her chest. "Well, next time, I expect to be informed directly. After all, we wouldn't want any secrets between us, would we?"
Devashree's gaze suddenly shifted towards Draupadi's midsection. With a sly grin, she gestured towards her stomach. "And when were you going to tell us about yours?" she asked, her eyes twinkling mischievously.
Draupadi's eyes widened in surprise, a mixture of shock and curiosity washing over her. "How did you know?" she questioned, her voice tinged with disbelief.
Krishna chuckled softly. "Ah, my dear Sakhi," he interjected, his tone filled with amusement. "My wife has her ways."
Draupadi turned towards Krishna, her expression a mix of surprise and realization. "Govind, you too?" she asked, her voice tinged with incredulity.
Krishna simply smiled enigmatically, his eyes twinkling mischievously as if to confirm Draupadi's suspicions without uttering a word.
Subhadra couldn't contain her excitement. Her eyes widened with joy, and she let out a small scream of joy, unable to contain her excitement at the news of Draupadi's pregnancy.
Draupadi quickly placed a finger to her lips, shooting Subhadra a playful yet admonishing look. "Shh, Subhadra," she whispered, her voice barely above a hush. "Not so loud. We don't want everyone to hear."
Subhadra immediately clamped her hand over her mouth, her eyes wide with surprise. "Oops, sorry," she whispered back apologetically, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
Draupadi shook her head in disbelief, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Well, it seems the cat's out of the bag now," she remarked, her voice filled with a mixture of amusement and resignation.
Devashree leaned in closer, a conspiratorial glint in her eyes. "Don't worry, Draupadi. Your secret is safe with us," she assured her, her tone hushed as if sharing a confidential exchange.
Draupadi let out a relieved sigh, grateful for their understanding. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude. "Aryas are already so worried about the kingdom and its affairs. I didn't want to add to their burden."
Krishna nodded understandingly, his gaze softening with empathy. "You're doing what you think is best for them, Draupadi," he reassured her, his voice gentle yet reassuring. "But remember, you don't have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders alone. We're here for you, always."
Draupadi offered a grateful smile, her heart warmed by their unwavering support. "Thank you, Sakha. And thank you, Devashree," she said, her voice filled with sincerity.
As Draupadi, Devashree, and Subhadra shared their whispered confidences, the Pandavas approached, their expressions a mixture of concern and hope.
Yudhishthir's brow was furrowed with worry, and his eyes reflected the weight of the responsibility he bore.
"Bhrata Yudhishthira," Krishna nodded to acknowledge each of the Pandavas in turn. "What troubles you, my dear brothers?"
Yudhishthira sighed deeply, his voice heavy with concern. "Krishna, we are grateful for your presence here. Your wisdom is always a beacon for us. But I cannot help but worry about how we will establish a kingdom in this barren land. The people who have followed us here expect leadership and prosperity. How can we provide that in such an inhospitable place?"
Krishna's eyes softened with empathy as he looked at Yudhishthira. "Bhrata, you know better than anyone that a kingdom is not merely defined by its land or its riches. A true kingdom is built on the foundation of its people and the values they uphold."
"But Krishna, the land here is unforgiving. How can we expect to cultivate it, let alone build a thriving kingdom?" Bheem interjected.
Krishna turned his gaze to Bheem, his smile unwavering. "Bhrata Bheem, strength lies not just in our arms but in our unity and determination. The land may be harsh, but with collective effort and ingenuity, we can transform it. Remember, the resilience of the people can overcome any obstacle."
Krishna's gaze shifted momentarily to Devashree, a knowing twinkle in his eyes. With a subtle smile, he added, "Besides, Bhrata Bheem, a land can hardly stay barren in the presence of Lakshmi."
"But Madhav , the people have followed us out of loyalty and hope. But how can we assure them that their faith in us is not misplaced?"
Krishna's eyes twinkled with reassurance as he looked at Arjun. "Parth, the people followed you because they believe in your leadership and vision. It is their faith that will be the cornerstone of this new kingdom. When they see their leaders working tirelessly for their welfare, their trust will only grow stronger."
Nakul and Sahadeva, standing side by side, shared a look of uncertainty before Nakul voiced their collective concern. "Bhrata, we have the will, but do we have the means to sustain this endeavor?"
Krishna's gaze encompassed all the Pandavas, and then he gestured towards the people who had followed them.
"Look at these people. They are your kingdom. They have come here with hope in their hearts and faith in your leadership. The means to sustain this endeavor lie within them and within you. Together, you can turn this barren land into a flourishing kingdom. You have their loyalty, their strength, and their support. That is the true wealth of any kingdom."
Yudhishthira's eyes shone with a new understanding. "You are right, Vasudev. The people are our true strength. With their support, we can overcome any challenge."
Krishna smiled, his face radiant with wisdom. "Exactly, Bhrata. Lead with compassion, work with determination, and unite the people with a shared vision. The land will respond to your efforts, and prosperity will follow. Trust in yourselves and in the people who believe in you."
The Pandavas, their doubts melting away, stood taller and more resolute. Krishna's words had infused them with a renewed sense of purpose and confidence. They looked at each other, their bond strengthened by their shared mission.
As they turned to address their people, Yudhishthira spoke with newfound conviction. "People of Indraprastha, we stand together in this new beginning. With your support and our united efforts, we will transform this land into a kingdom of prosperity and justice. Together, we will build a future we can all be proud of."
The crowd erupted in cheers, their voices filled with hope and determination
Led by the sage Vyasa, the Pandavas carefully selected a pure and holy site for their new city.
The area chosen was surrounded by mountains that gleamed like clouds and snow, providing a natural and formidable defense.
The construction began with sacred ceremonies, invoking blessings for the success and prosperity of the endeavor.
The first task was to measure out the land, ensuring that it was divided in a way that maximized its potential. Skilled architects and artisans were brought in to design the layout, and the foundations of the city were laid with precision.
The Pandavas themselves took part in the labor, inspiring the people with their dedication and hard work.
On a bright, sunny morning, Subhadra, Draupadi, and Devashree strolled through the newly established city, accompanied by Krishna and the Pandavas. Their faces were filled with awe and pride as they took in the magnificent sights around them.
"Look at those double-doored gates," Draupadi said, her eyes wide with amazement. "They are so formidable, like the mighty wings of Garuda."
"Indeed," Subhadra agreed, her voice filled with admiration. "The high towers resemble dense clouds and the majestic Mandara mountains. They stand so tall and proud."
Bheem nodded with satisfaction. "The fortifications are unparalleled," he said, his voice booming. "You see those walls, they are equipped with sharp spears and javelins, like double-tongued snakes ready to strike."
"The towers are equipped with a vast array of weapons," he said, pointing to the high structures. "Hooks, shataghnis, and other weapons of war are strategically placed to ensure our city's defenses are strong." Arjun joined in, his eyes gleaming with pride.
"The streets prevent collisions among the many large chariots that will traverse them," he explained. "Along these streets, beautiful white mansions increase the beauty of this city."
Devashree gazed up at the great iron chakras adorning the city's defenses. "These chakras are a marvel, ready to be deployed in times of war," she said, her voice filled with wonder. "The city's skyline is truly a sight to behold."
"It is the collective effort and vision of our people that has made this possible," Yuddhisthir said, his voice steady. "The city shines like a mass of dense clouds circled by lightning, reflecting the image of heaven itself." Yudhishthira, his heart swelling with pride, spoke with a sense of fulfillment.
Krishna nodded, his eyes twinkling with wisdom. "The people who once feared the barrenness of the land now see the beauty and potential of their new home," he said. "Indraprastha is not just a city; it is a testament to the resilience, unity, and determination of its people."
Draupadi smiled, her heart filled with hope. "We have built a kingdom where prosperity and righteousness will flourish," she said. "Indraprastha will be a beacon of hope and justice for all."
As they continued to walk through the city, the sounds of construction and the sight of people working together filled the air with a sense of purpose and camaraderie.
Indraprastha was not just a city of stone and mortar; it was a living, breathing symbol of the dreams and aspirations of its people, a place where hope and prosperity would forever reign.
Within a week, the city was established with the help of millions of people.
And thus a Dharmasamrajya was established.
Under Yuddhisthir's rule, the Vedas found a dedicated student. Lakshmi was ever-present in his kingdom, intelligence was revered, and righteousness extended its reach throughout the land.
Yudhishthira's leadership, aided by his four brothers, shone with unparalleled radiance
In the eyes and hearts of his subjects, Yudhishthira was like the unblemished full moon, shining brightly and impartially.
The people loved him not only because he was their king but also for his deeds, which reflected his deep commitment to their well-being.
Pritha's intelligent son, Yudhishthira, was known for his sweet and gentle speech, never uttering words that were improper, untrue, malicious, or unpleasant. He treated every individual with the same regard he had for himself.
Through their great energy and collective strength, the Pandavas started to live happily, free from distress, and pacified all other kings, ensuring a realm of peace and prosperity.
Their reign began to be filled by compassion, wisdom, and righteousness, creating a golden age where dharma prevailed and every citizen found joy and contentment in their daily lives.
Thus Indraprastha, under the just and enlightened rule of Yudhishthira and his brothers, became a beacon of hope and prosperity.
