JongSang : Peanut

They have been arguing all morning.

Yeosang knew it was going to be one of those days when he woke up and found irritation with everything. The way his husband was snoring was pissing him off, the way his body was dragging to get ready for the day was pissing him off. As much as he hated to say it, even the way his child was even whining about having to eat eggs and toast for breakfast instead of fruit gummies was pissing him off.

His tone in his voice indicated stress and irritation, and usually when he has moments like that he tries not to be around people since it gets worse when he is around them. But Jongho being the sweet, and gentle husband he is was trying everything in his power to help.

Only to make it worse when he confronts Yeosang about said attitude.

"What's going on Sangie? You've been in a mood ever since you woke up this morning and I'm just trying to figure out why and what I can do to help you!"

This just further angered Yeosang, as the older snaps back, "Well maybe I don't need your help did you think of that?"

Jongho glares at him but makes the wise decision to leave the room and to go take care of their son. They needed to go shopping, but Jongho didn't want to leave his husband alone at the house when he was in a mood like this. He got his child ready for the day and coldly told Yeosang to do the same, all while ignoring the hurtful remarks he got back.

At the store, they shopped silently while their son sat in the basket of the cart and tried to tear into the bag of grapes they got for snacks. Jongho tried to be nice and to offer something to make Yeosang feel better and to make his mood better, but nothing was working.

When they got to the car, the tension was super thick that even their child was starting to become fussy as if he knew and was sensing that his parents weren't happy. Jongho then turned to phase two, which was taking Yeosang to his favorite restaurant after they just shopped for groceries. Yeosang was still grumpy, and even more so when he realized they still had cold stuff in their car and didn't want anything to melt or go bad.

"Yeosang it is cold outside and everything will be fine. It won't hurt us if we go in to have a quick bite to eat before we go home and so I can unload the groceries."

"I have sherbet that I don't want going bad!"

"If it goes bad I'll buy you some more."

"No, I want that kind, I don't want whatever it is you're going to get." Yeosang snaps and sassily turns away from his husband to face the cars passing by.

The grip on the steering wheel turned Jongho's knuckles white as he grits his teeth. He was doing everything he can to stay calm and to not make Yeosang's mood worse. In the end, Yeosang reluctantly went with Jongho and their child to order lunch.

As soon as they sit down, their waitress comes over with menus and their drinks. Conversation was bleak as they looked over the menus silently until the waitress came back and took their orders. While they waited for their food, Jongho places his hand on his husband's on top of the table and sighs, "Babe, look at me."

"I'm fine thank you," Yeosang mumbles while looking at their son who was munching away on a few of his baby chews.

"Yeosang."

The tone of voice was enough for the older to look at Jongho with fire in his eyes, and further annoyance. Jongho grits his teeth as he spoke again calmer, "Was it something I did? Because if so I'd prefer if you told me instead of hiding and having an attitude with not only me but our son."

Yeosang snorts, "I just wanted to be left alone today! Is that too much to ask? I just wanted some time to myself and to think but no, you can't respect that and I can't really do anything about Chan either because he's my kid and I need to take care of him like a good mom!"

"Why are you snapping at me for? All I asked is that if the reason you were acting this way was because of me! I want to try and fix it to make you happy-"

Almost too soon the waitress arrived at their table with their food, plating it in front of each assigned person who ordered their specific dish. She too could feel the tension in the air and left hastily to leave the family in peace to enjoy their meal.

"Yeosang this discussion isn't over-"

"I don't feel good okay? I just want to be left alone, I feel nauseous and I am tired and my back hurts. Is that what you want to hear?" Yeosang snapper while setting his fork and knife down loudly.

"See why didn't you just tell me? Because now I look like a Jack ass while trying to help out my husband," Jongho snaps back, anger growing in his body.

"Mama," their two year old excitedly squeals while grinning a very similar smile to Jongho's at Yeosang.

He babbles some more while drool falls down his chin, Yeosang quickly wipes it away with his napkin before turning to his husband, "Let's just eat and go home, I'd like to take a nap."

"Fair enough," Jongho replies back coldly, cutting into his steak and taking a large bite from it.

Over the course of their meal, Yeosang's mood increased for the better and he found himself feeling guilty for how he's been treating his family today. So much so, he felt slightly nauseous and stopped eating when it became too much. He looks up at Jongho who has already finished his food, and noticed Yeosang staring at him. He arches his eyebrow and caught the different look in Yeosang's eyes. His own gaze softens as he takes Yeosang's hand in his, the older male sighs softly before licking his bottom lip, "I'm sorry."

"No, I should be."

"No really Jongho, I want to apologize," Yeosang sighs, "I don't know what's going on with me recently, I just feel irritable and just like I want to be alone."

"Babe, I want you to tell me these things, I was worried I was causing them and that you were angry at me for whatever reason," Jongho smiles softly before picking up the dessert menu, "How about we split something hm?"

"You hate sweets," Yeosang giggles.

"I'd do and eat anything for you," Jongho winks, looking over the menu, "There's many choices, so how about you pick one and we'll order it."

Their waitress came back over and gathered their empty plates, and took their dessert order before disappearing again. When she appeared with an ooey, gooey, chocolate fudge brownie Yeosang practically drooled at the smell. On the top it had a caramel sauce with salted peanuts, a perfect sweet and salty dessert for a delicious dinner.

He took a bite and was immediately lost in the river of chocolate coating his tongue. Jongho, much to his dislike for sweets, took a few bites as well. Their son reached for the spoon, and Yeosang purses his lips, looking at his husband, "When did the doctor say he could eat sweets?"

"The same age he can eat solid foods," Jongho shrugs, "He ate majority of your dinner, I say let him have a bite."

Yeosang hums, scooping a tiny bit of the brownie and some of the sauce on his spoon before feeding it to his baby. The two year old hummed loudly while waving his arms, reaching for the spoon as he chewed. Yeosang chuckles, "I think he takes after mama, he likes sweets."

Jongho makes a face before smiling proudly at their son. His husband and son finished off the dessert before Jongho started noticing something different about their child. He frowns as their child began coughing, "Here give him some water."

Yeosang doesn't hesitate, letting his son have his sippy cup and the child began to drink. However, he continues to cough and wheezing began to become noticeable. Yeosang's worry grew when he noticed his child itching his neck and whining slightly. His wheezing became more noticeable and his eyes widen, "Oh my god somethings wrong."

Jongho immediately turned on his flashlight on his phone and pried their son's mouth open. Their child tried to resist, but Jongho caught a glimpse of the back of his son's throat and gasps, "His throats closing up."

"Help!" Yeosang immediately stands, taking his baby in his arms and shouts louder, "We need a doctor help!!"

Bystanders began to stare, a concerned male immediately stood and approached them, "I'm a doctor-"

"His throat is closing up!" Yeosang sobbed, fear settling into his bones for his baby.

His child seemed to pant harsher for air, which in turn made him cough and wheeze louder. The doctor immediately checked the two year olds mouth and grabbed the child, immediately setting him on the table on his side, "Call 911, now. How old is he?"

"He just turned two a few months ago-"

"We need an epipen!" The doctor shouts to the restaurant staff who were moving quickly, "How much does he weigh?"

"He weighs twenty five pounds?" Jongho answered, the doctor nods.

"Good, he's eligible for the epipen," their waitress immediately rushes over and hands the doctor the epipen, he immediately pops the top of it off and looks too the parents, "Hold his leg still."

Jongho held his son still as the doctor jabs the needle into his son's leg, pressing the button to inject the medicine. Yeosang was sobbing as he talked to the emergency dispatcher, meanwhile everyone gathered and tried to do what they could to help with the situation. Their child was slowly turning red in the face and the doctor proceeded to provide CPR until medical authorities arrived.

Yeosang rode with the ambulance to the hospital while Jongho drove like a mad man behind them in their vehicle full of groceries still, once they arrive to the hospital their child is immediately rushed into the urgent care. However, when Yeosang tried to follow, he is held back by nurses and he became furious, "That's my baby! He's only two!!"

"Sir, you need to calm down-"

"No!" Yeosang screams, until his husband's arms wrap around him and drag him away. He continued to sob and cry for his child, wanting nothing more than to rush in the room and hold his baby. Jongho wanted to as well, but he knew they needed to focus on their son and do what they needed to do without any distractions.

They waited for what seemed like hours when in reality it was about an hour and a half. Yeosang paced in the waiting room, Jongho bounced his leg while sitting in one of the most uncomfortable chairs he's ever sat in (not counting the labor and delivery chairs). Finally, a nurse enters the waiting room and calls for them both. Yeosang immediately rushes over to her and cries all over again, "Is he okay? Is my baby alright?"

"He's stable, and he's sleeping currently. The doctor said you are free to come back and see him now," she leads the way to his room, and once the parents caught sight of their child with tubes and wires connected to them it broke them both. The parents each took one of their son's hands in their own, and waited until he woke up.

The doctor suddenly made an appearance, speaking calmly and softly to them both, "We have a good reason your son had a severe allergic reaction, one that almost caused him to go into anaphylactic shock. Do you happen to know what may have caused it?"

"The brownie," Yeosang shook his head in disbelief, "He was fine up until I..." his lip quivers, and quickly covers his mouth with his hand to sob once more.

The doctor turns to Jongho, "Do you happen to know what was in the brownie sir?"

"It was a chocolate fudge brownie, with peanuts on top of it," Jongho frowns, "Do you think it was the peanuts?"

"Possibly. Most children now a days develop peanut allergies, some severe and some mild. I'd say your boy here was extremely lucky someone with medical practices was in the same vicinity as you both. And giving him the epipen was extremely helpful as well and slowed down the reaction tremendously before it closed off his throat completely."

Yeosang sniffles, wiping his eyes and his nose on the sleeve of his coat while the doctor pats his shoulder, "We're sending in a prescription for a couple of those epipen to your pharmacy, best to have them on hand in case this happens again. And I suggest monitoring his diet, everything he eats cannot contain a single nut. Were you aware of his allergy?"

"No," both parents answer.

"Now that you are, you must be very cautious. He may never be able to eat any kind of nut ever again."

The doctor leaves the room to the family, until Yeosang catches him in the hallway and asks him to run a test on himself. The doctor agrees, taking Yeosang to a different area of the urgent care hall and running the test. The day they left the hospital, Yeosang broke the news to Jongho about why he was the way he was that horrible day: he was pregnant.

From then on, the parents were relieved yet scared for life after what just happened. For the next few months, Yeosang became a very protective mother and monitored everything that was put in front of their son. They refused to let anyone cook for them or bring homemade dishes around them unless the parents knew for certain that there were no nuts in anything they cooked or baked.

And now with another little bundle of joy, they were going to have to be even more careful.

Hi guys! I just want to put a disclaimer that I only got my research from Google sites and that this may not be 100% correct. I however try my best to look up as much accurate information as I can before I post any of my stories so that way in case you guys read something and weren't really sure of it I wasn't feeding you false information ❤️ I'd rather feed you guys accurate facts and information than make up something and mislead you all. If you want to know more about epipens and how to use one on either yourself or for someone else, there is a video down below providing you the proper way of using it! I think it's really important for everyone to know about different allergies and always be cautious and courteous of those who have said allergies.

And to also know what to do when someone is having a severe allergic reaction like said in the story. I will also provide information for that down below with the same video 🥰
