Park Bo-young
I just realized that I'm writing for an actress and not an idol. Meh, who cares. I really enjoyed Abyss, I didn't think I'd get back into dramas but this was a nice refreshing start. The main concept will be used and the story will kinda just move along with it. I'm not going to take the plot cause that calls for a whole dedicated book to itself and I'm not doing that.
Into the Abyss
Rain poured down heavily as the sounds of thunder cracked off in the distance. Tonight was a night full of tragedy for a certain person. Lee (Y/n) dragged himself though the streets of Seoul while getting drenched by the rain. The water was the least of his concern, a fever wouldn't be it neither. He walked for a senseless amount of time before coming back home to his apartment. Making his way inside, he climbed the stairs to the top and walked onto the roof. It wasn't much further until he made it to the edge. He hopped over and sat against the railing.
(Y/n) pulled out his phone, quickly typing in the pin to avoid his own background picture. He went into his contacts and selected one, as it read out her name. Before he tapped onto the call button, her voice ran out in his head again.
"You actually thought I could ever love someone like him? Look at him, he's hideous, not even on my level of beauty. I'm only with him for his money anyways." These were the words that came out of his fiance's mouth. To think that they were going to get married in a few weeks. If his friend never showed him this, then he would've been caught up in her web.
It is those who you hold dearest that can break your heart in the end. He didn't want to believe that she said all of it. After all, they had been together for almost 3 years. All that time, and this was her true self all along. It's funny sometimes, you really think you've known someone and yet... there is always something new to discover about them.
He loved her, he truly did. He loved her like a fool because he was nothing better than a fool to believe in her words. She was his first almost everything, first kiss, and even first time. It meant so much to him that she was by his side when no one else would see him that way. She was truly a great actress to be able to endure her true intentions during all this time. Finally he clicked onto the button, not long before the call went through.
"Oh, jagi? How are you?" Her sweet voice rang into his ear. It took in everything not to erupt right there and lose it all. It was already hard enough to deal with the cold of the rain.
"The wedding is off." He said bluntly, nothing else.
"What?! Why? Is something wrong? Did something happen?" Her questions came out after another.
"We're done. You won't see me again, so you don't have to worry about seeing my hideous face ever again. All this time... you were with me for my inheritance, not for me. I finally see it now." He told her.
"W-Why would you say that? J-Jagi, I swear that's not the reason. Please don't leave me (Y/n)!" She cried through the phone.
"My friend told me everything, she even recorded you two. Thanks for speaking your heart out. It really showed me the truth. I was so blind, to not see that you were just using me for your little games." (Y/n) said.
"That bit— (Y/n), please I swear I didn't mean it. I was just joking with her." She desperately spoke out.
"I loved you, I really did. You were the first girl to ever make me feel like I was loved. I thought this was it, I wasn't going to be alone anymore. I should've known you were just using me". He said.
"(Y/n)... please don't say that. I really did love you too. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Her voice began to break apart. She really was a great actor.
"I don't want to live anymore. If I could just forget what you said then I would. Now... I don't even want to live in a world with you, if I never met you... I wish I never did." He closed his eyes before leaning forward over the edge.
"(Y-Y/n) d-don't... please don't." She began saying but the call ended. The sound of wind whistling was the last thing she heard, realizing what had just happened.
The pain was excruciating incredible, but it only lasted for a second. His life ended right there and then. He always wondered what the after life would be like, but this wasn't it. This was nothing, there was nothing at all.
Suddenly his eyes opened before he sat up breathing heavily. He was... alive again? He looked to the ground where he had supposedly landed. His blood was still there as it was currently being washed away by the rain. He checked his entire body only to discover that he was perfectly fine, aside from the blood stains on his face. It was washed off as the rain poured against his face. He suddenly felt something touch his shoulder as he spun quickly to the right. He came face to face with two people, a man and a woman. They wore black suits, while sheltering themselves from the rain with an umbrella.
"You chose him? Really?" The woman asked the other man.
"Eh, I felt kinda bad for him. Must truly be terrible to have such a bad fate. I wanna see him be happy. Plus he's easily a yellow." The man said.
"W-Who are you two? How am I even still alive?" (Y/n) asked.
"It doesn't matter who we are. But the reason you're still alive is because I brought you back to life." The man said.
"How?! I died... I should still be dead. How did you bring me back?" (Y/n) questioned.
The lady pulled out a weird looking orb before tossing it into his hands. Luckily he caught it, thinking it was glass or something. The second he made contact with it, the orb changed color. It changed to a bright yellow color before the man let out a laugh as the woman sighed.
"Told you so. I knew he'd be a yellow." The man said.
"Don't get so happy. As long as he's not a red then it's fine." She scolded him.The orb had a name on the inside, it read out "Abyss" as the two began to explain.
"Abyss can revive anyone from the dead. Now that I've chosen you, you will hold onto this until you die. Only those who have been revived can see it as well. So, don't go around telling everyone about it, they'll think you're crazy. Use as you see fit, it's yours now." The man said.
"Hey, you're telling him too much. He's supposed to find out on his own and go from there." The woman scolded the man again.
"How am I supposed to explain myself? I just told my fiance that I was killing myself, she even heard me jump. How do I explain this to her?!" He asked them.
"That sounds like a you problem. Oh, and one more thing. Take a good look at yourself. Here, I'll fix your phone for you." The man said to him before handing over his phone.
(Y/n) turned on his phone and went to the camera. He nearly dropped his phone when he saw his own reflection. This wasn't him, the face that was now his was something else. It looked way better than before. Not just that, but he was slimmer, and even taller than before. He looked good...
"How is this even possible...?" (Y/n) asked the two.
"When someone is revived, their new bodies reflect their souls. This is who or what you truly look like on the inside. Judging from yours, you were quite the sweet guy, maybe innocent, generous, and kind." The woman explained.
"How long will this all last? Will this expire sometime later?" The two couldn't help but laugh.
"You truly did choose an interesting one this time. And no, you will look like this forever. The orb is yours until death." She said.
"Now then, we should be going now. Good luck with your life young man. Don't disappoint me, use it well and make things right for you." The two walked off as (Y/n) stood there still clueless as to why he was given this orb, yet alone a second chance.
What would become of his life now? He was the CEO of a top cosmetics company. His mother ruled as his second, but he had inherited the right from his parents. How would he go back to work like this, how could he?! What about her... how is he going to face her now? It didn't change a thing that she was just using him, but how would he avoid her. Even more importantly, his new face and features. Who would believe that it was him?
He didn't know what else to do but get back inside from the rain and get some rest before figuring out what to do the next day.
Next Day
(Y/n) was stirred awake by the sounds of knocking on his door. Not just that but also his phone was ringing like crazy. Still half awake he didn't think much of it and carelessly walked over and opened his door. Standing there was his mother along with an assistant of hers.
"Oh, it's just you mother." He scoffed out wanting to head back to bed.
"Who... are you?" He heard her say before looking back up.
"What are you talking about? Mom, it's me (Y/n)." He quickly spoke out.
"My son? You look nothing like him at all. He's far bigger, and not as good looking like you." She told him before he quickly slapped himself mentally.
(Y/n) had completely forgotten that his body had changed. He also just called her his mother while completely looking like someone else. It was a far shot, but he wanted to tell her the truth. He was always a terrible liar after all, and lying to your own mother of all people.
"Can we talk inside? I need you to sit down before I tell you something." He asked for the assistant to sit out while his mother had agreed and made her way inside.
His mother looked around his apartment, definitely noting that this was her son's home. His choice of decorating and the photos he framed up was very like him. She even found a photo of him and his fiance.
"So, where is my son? Are the both of you playing a trick on me? I have no time for this, so hurry up will you." She said while waiting for him to answer.
"I don't know how to tell you, but... it's me mom. I'm your son, I'm (Y/n). I know it doesn't make any sense, I look different and far better than before, but something happened last night. I tried to kill myself... but I was given a second chance, and now I'm alive again. I swear this isn't a trick, I'll do whatever it takes to prove it to you mother." He quickly pulled out from under his shirt, a necklace that she once gave to him. It was the first gift his father had given to his mom, and she passed it down to him after he passed away. He offered it to her as her eyes widened at the sight.
She stared at him surprised that he would have something like this. If (Y/n) really was playing a trick, then this wasn't one. He never let anyone else see nor hold that necklace. She hesitated but finally spoke out to him. "I want a DNA test from you. If you're really my son, then that will tell us the truth. I want to believe you, but I need to know for sure." She said, taking the necklace from him and admiring it.
"This isn't a trick mom. You know I'm a bad liar, so why would I ever dare to lie to you. Please just believe me, I really am your son. Besides, wouldn't it look better to have me this way? It'll be better for the business and our life in general." He said, gesturing to his face and new features.
"Then how do you plan on explaining to the public about your sudden changes? You really think people won't look into this?" He didn't quite think of that, how would he explain to people who aren't like his mother who was understanding. They'd probably call him crazy and slap him into an insane asylum.
"Plastic surgery...? Korea does lead in that field, so we could just say that." He spat out.
"Your thinking is just as idiotic as your father's. So foolish it may even work." She remarked.
"Do you somewhat believe me...?" He questioned.
She nodded before hanging the necklace back onto his neck. His mother took one good look at him and his new features before delivering one strong slap across his face. He groaned out in pain as he questioned his mother's actions. A few more smacks came after as (Y/n) tried to shield himself from her blows.
"If you ever try to kill yourself again, I will not let you. I already lost your father, I will not lose you too. Promise me, you will never do it again." She told him, as he nodded his head before apologizing to her.
"You better call that girl of yours, I'm sure you're going to need to explain it to her too." She said, before earning a look of discomfort from her son.
"I ended things with her..." He began saying before earning a heavy sigh from his mother.
"I found out she was only with me for my money. My friend caught her on recording, and now I can't bring myself to see her that way anymore." He told her as his mother embraced him and comforted his broken heart.
"Here I was hoping for grandchildren. At least you didn't make a mistake like her then. Just stay away from her from now on. Find someone better than her." Suddenly they both turned to the door being slammed open.
"Miss, you really can't go in there. They are having an important meeting—" They both heard the assistant saying before seeing who had busted in.
(Han So Hee, another very talented actress. I will be using her character's name since it's simpler. I loved how her character was so frustrating to watch as she betrayed the main pair over and over again. But in the end, she redeemed herself somewhat.)
Speak of the devil herself. There she stood, a complete mess, however still flawlessly beautiful. She was still beautiful, he couldn't deny that fact. But unlike her, he wasn't with her for a petty reason. He spent his time on her and actually fell in love with her. His now ex-fiance stood there dumbfounded at the sight of his mother and him. Of course she recognized her almost mother in law but him, she couldn't.
"Where's... (Y/n)?" She quietly asked, as both him and his mother eyed one another before ushering for him to handle the situation.
"He's alive, so you can just go ahead and leave now. He doesn't want to see you again." (Y/n) said to her.
"No... I need to see him. I want to talk to him." She refused to leave, standing her ground. She desperately looked to (Y/n)'s mother before letting out a word that earned her a scold.
"Mother—" She flinched at the response she received at the sounds of that word.
"I am not your mother! My son has already told me all about you. You can kiss his fortune goodbye." His mother spat out at her.
"Please... just let me talk to him. Just one time is all I ask for." She pleaded his mother. He asked for his mother to leave the two of them alone.
"You already did. I'm right here, and I have nothing else to say to you." (Y/n) spoke up.
She looked over to him and was only met with confusion. The same way his mother looked when he was explaining everything. If it was this challenging to convince the people who he held closest to him, how would the whole world see it?
"You're not (Y/n)... he looks—" She began saying.
"Far worse, I know. I was hideous, just like you said yourself. Yet, here I am looking better than before. My new face is in front of you, and you seem to be just fine now. Do this suit your standards now?" The way he spoke, he definitely sounded the same. She slowly began to believe him as she begged him the same things she did last night.
"I... how can you even look so different? How is this possible?" She asked him.
"Plastic surgery holds all sorts of interesting outcomes. Mine was quite unique don't you think?" He lied to her.
"Last night... I thought you really... I'm happy you're alive (Y/n)." She whispered out to him.
"Don't think I'm changing my mind. We're both through, so you can stop pretending to care now." He reminded her.
"(Y-Y/n)... I really didn't mean it. I wasn't thinking straight, and I said the stupidest things I could have ever said. I'm sorry..." She cried out to him.
"Give me a reason why I should believe a single thing you say?" He asked her, as her mind scrambled to find the right thing to say.
"I love you." Three words that he would've loved to hear from her lips back a few days ago.
"And I loved you, as in past tense. I loved you more than anything else in this world. I figured it was all just some bad dream hearing those hurtful words coming out of your mouth. But those words were your own, they came from your heart." She tried to apologize again, even taking a seat beside him trying to embrace him.
(Y/n) quickly stood up before walking over to the window, facing away from her. It pained him still, to push her away despite all the lies she's told him. He didn't want to forgive her, but he knew it was going to be hard to fully let her go. Sure, maybe he could spit out hurtful words but at the end of the day, he was still going to be alone again. She snapped him out his thoughts by wrapping her arms around him as (Y/n) tried to shake free of her grasps. This only made her hug him tighter and refusing to let go of him.
"Hee-Jin, let go. Please just leave me alone from now on." The sound of name gave her chills, hearing it the first time since she walked in.
"Please... please don't do this." She begged him again.
He didn't listen and was finally able to shake her free. She quickly moved in front of him before holding onto him again. This time she jumped up and wrapped her arms around his neck and pulling him down into a kiss. It was one sided as (Y/n) pushed her off of him, her grasp never loosening.
"You're only making things worse by doing this. Leave Hee-Jin, I don't want to see you here again." He said, as her hold only tightened.
"No, I don't want to. I'm not leaving you ever." She vowed to him.
"Our road ends here Hee-Jin, I need you to leave." He told her, as she denied him again and again.
"Just one, please give me one more chance..." She begged him.
"I... have no reason to. There's nothing that will change the fact that you are only with me for my money. What, because I have a pretty face now you're going to suddenly fall for me? You will never love me for me." He held up his walls high, hoping she couldn't break through.
"If you won't give me a chance... then please do it the sake of our child." His walls came crashing down as it all collapsed atop of him.
"What?" This was all he could muster out at the revelation of her secret.
"I'm pregnant with your child (Y/n)." She said to him as her grip finally loosened.
(Y/n) was in so much distraught he didn't even think to push her away anymore. Not even seeing the small smirk that appeared on her face. She quickly shrugged it off and took this chance to wrap herself against him again.
"You're really going to leave me alone with our child? If you really did love me, then I can't believe you'd do something like that to me." She said, tripping him with guilt.
"How do I know if it's even mine...?" (Y/n) managed to say before she slapped him across the face.
"I may have said those things... but I've been nothing but faithful to you (Y/n)." She said to him, her voice full of hurt. So, she admitted it at the very least.
"(Y/n)?" They both turned their attention to the person who'd walked in on them. She heard the last bit only, not the big reveal.
"Hee-Jin? Why are you calling him (Y/n)? That's not him." The girl said, getting closer to both of them.
"Bo-young? What are you doing here? This doesn't concern you." Hee-Jin quickly said to the new person in the room.
"I came to check up on (Y/n). He was heart broken after last night. I'm guessing you also know why. Where is he? I need to talk with him." Bo-young said before looking around for him.
"He's right in front of you." (Y/n) said.
"You're (Y/n)? Good joke but he doesn't look—" She began saying just like everyone else would before he cut her off.
"This good, yes yes I get it. Long story short, I got plastic surgery to. So now I look like this." (Y/n) quickly used his excuse.
Bo-young stepped closer towards him, admiring his face and new features. Even landing a palm again this cheek, cupping a strong feel. His eyes were definitely the same, the same leer that he held when talking to somebody. His tone and way of speaking was even the same.
"But you were still... you didn't look like this last night (Y/n). How can you even look like this after a single night?" She said to him.
Hee-Jin quickly stepped in between the two of them, pushing her away before holding tightly onto (Y/n) again.
"You think he's actually going to take you back? After everything you said about him?" She asked.
"He's staying with me, I'm pregnant with his child." Hee-Jin blurted out.
She rolled her eyes at the obvious lie that Hee-Jin was telling. Her fears only began to grow when she saw the look on (Y/n)'s face. There's no way he's actually believing her right now.
"(Y-Y/n), god this is still too weird. You don't actually believe her do you? She's just lying so you won't leave her." She said, trying to spark some common sense into (Y/n) again.
"I'm not lying to you (Y/n), please believe me." Hee-Jin said while pressing herself against him. The two started to throw insults at each other, accusing the other of lying.
(Y/n)'s head was about ready to explode from the situation. He didn't want to trust Hee-Jin but at the same time, there was a possibility that she could actually be pregnant with his child. Ever since he proposed, they had been more intimate spewing several nights of intercourse. Bo-young on the other hand was trying to help him the best she could. She had always been looking out for him ever since their first meeting grade school. She was his closest friend, and he'd be a fool not to trust her words.
"Alright enough! I can't handle this anymore. Both of you need to leave so I can have some time to think." (Y/n) shouted out to them both. He tore himself apart from the two before singling then out one at a time.
"Hee-Jin... I need proof from you. I can't trust you without knowing the truth. If you really are pregnant with my child... then we'll talk about our marriage after." He said, hesitant on that final statement. He then turned towards Bo-young next before addressing his only problem with her.
"Bo-young, as you can see I'm perfectly fine. There's no other business for you to be here. Please leave as well." (Y/n) said as he pushed both of them out of his apartment. Though they argued and asked for him to listen to them, he still managed to shut the door on them.
3 Days Later
Even though his mother was pretty much convinced it was him, he still went through with the DNA test and fingerprint scans. It all came out positive and proved his words. As for his appearance, they went with it and said he had plastic surgery. It was convincing enough, even if he did look quite natural. Whatever it took to get the useless things out of the way. (Y/n) quickly took back charge in his business and got back to his usual routine. Things drastically took a change for the better however. With his new face, it was impossible to not attract attention, whether it were girls fawning over him or people questioning his plastic surgeons.
His only other problem was Hee-Jin and Bo-young. They were like two animals tearing him apart. He'd never seen Bo-young act this way before. She was... so clingy to him now. Maybe it was the look, after all she did friend zone him back in high school. He figured she was simply looking out for him when she revealed Hee-Jin's intentions. She went out of her ways to make Hee-Jin show her true colors. Speaking of Hee-Jin, she still had yet to prove her pregnancy. This only helped Bo-young drive in her point, in which Hee-Jin was making up lies to keep him with her.
It hurt him to think that she'd dare to lie to him again, but he didn't want to jump to conclusions. Things could turn out badly for both of them if she were to actually be pregnant. His name and company would be on the line if she were to turn this on him.
(Y/n)'s POV
(Y/n)'s day had just ended at the office. Today was quite boring, several business meetings, one after another as well. He began packing up his bag before he heard his secretary buzz in. She told him he had a visitor, VIP apparently. (Y/n) didn't bother much and asked for them to be sent in. It wasn't long before he saw a head poke through the door. His shoulders dropped at the sight of Bo-young walking in. He actually thought it would be an important meeting.
"Aish, why did I even give you a VIP card?" He joked as she made her way over to him. (Y/n) took a seat on the sofa he had in his office.
"Cause you love me." She simply said before taking a seat next to him.
"Today's the day huh? Has she said anything yet?" Bo-young asked.
Hee-Jin's last chance to prove things to him was today. Either she provided evidence that she was actually pregnant or (Y/n) would officially cut his ties with her.
"Are you actually really going to marry her if she's pregnant?" Bo-young asked.
"I have no other choice. That's my child, and even if she did hurt and lie to me... I'm willing to change her." (Y/n) confessed making a frown appear on Bo-young's face.
"And if she isn't? If she's just lying again, what'll you do then?" She pushed forward and pressed in the next question.
"Then that's it... I'd leave her. After that? I'd probably just go back to being alone forever." (Y/n) said.
She was happy to an extent with his answer. Him leaving her would be the best options if things do turn out as it obviously should. This would be a new beginning for him and for the better. Bo-young had realized the little details that (Y/n) failed to notice when he was around Hee-Jin. He was far more into her than she was into him, he gave her his everything while she always seemed to be holding back.
This would also be her chance. It took her a few years, it took while but she finally solved her own confusion. Back when (Y/n) shared his feelings, she didn't know what to think of it. The both of them were so close, he was an older brother to her at the time. A richer, and far kinder person who was engraved into her life. It wasn't until he finally found Hee-Jin that Bo-young was able to see what she lost. He was always joyful and loving, but the way he treated someone he called his lover was something she never felt.
They even began to fall apart as he devoted more time to Hee-Jin. She thought she finally lost him, but it wasn't until she was able to have that one on one with Hee-Jin and got the truth out. Bo-young always thought how Hee-Jin magically fell for him despite him looking like that. It made her sound bad, but she couldn't lie that (Y/n) was not the greatest looking person. Well, she can't say that now, and it may seem even worse now, considering that she did find him attractive now more than ever.
"You'll always have me. Don't think you're ever going to escape from me." She cutely said, playfully leaning into his shoulder.
"Yeah, no thanks. You already broke my heart once, I don't need you to do it again a second time." He joked.
"Then don't catch feelings for me. Easy as that." She ironically said.
"So, what now? What else did you come here for?" (Y/n) asked her.
"I don't know, I just wanted to see you." She answered.
(Y/n) quickly hopped off the couch and grabbed his things before turning back to her. He reached forward and offered his hand to her as she looked up to him.
"Well, I'm not staying here any longer. So either you come with me or you can go home." In an instant she grabbed on as he pulled her off the couch.
They walked out, hands intertwined as his workers began to notice the two. It was mainly my the girls that reacted, but they were gasping and squealing at the sight of their now good looking boss with a girl already. His relationship with Hee-Jin was always kept a secret at work so these people wouldn't know about such a thing. Those who think they would have a chance to woo him since he's better looking now, just kissed their chances goodbye upon seeing the two.
He drove them both to his apartment as they awaited Hee-Jin's answer. (Y/n) immediately headed for the kitchen when they both made it and began cooking. He was starving at this point and wanted nothing more than just to eat some food. Bo-young had wandered around his apartment, since it's been quite a while since she'd actually been here, aside from her little visit the other day. This whole apartment was still quite new to her, and she'd only been here a few times. (Y/n) moved into this one when he began dating Hee-Jin so they both began to become distant then.
She found his bedroom and walked in, not caring much for his privacy. She flicked the lights on before taking in the view that his room had. There was still light out, but the city was already looking beautiful. She turned her attention to his shelf of belongings. A few awards, certificates, and photos. There was one that caught her eye immediately and made her shine a smile.
Bo-young picked it up before acknowledging their youth those several years ago. It was their graduation photo they had taken together. He still looked the same as he did back then... it was still all too strange how much he'd changed after a single night. She wasn't complaining, but the (Y/n) she used to know was more cheerful.
Flashback
It had been a few days since (Y/n) had shown up to school. He never missed class for any good reasons, so when even the teachers didn't know, Bo-young went and handled things herself. There was only one answer for him being absent and that was their recent conversation. After all these years, he finally mustered up the courage to tell her his feelings. Bo-young flat out rejected him, as kindly as she could.
"(Y/n), please let me in." She said, pounding against his bedroom door. Even his own mother hadn't been able to knock some sense into him. Seeing as she had the company to take care of, she left him alone.
"(Y/n), I'm really sorry okay? I know it wasn't what you wanted to hear, but I'm sorry. I just can't see you that way. You're my best friend... and I can't imagine us being more than that." She said, as she heard him sliding down the door.
"Just... leave me alone. I swear I'm fine, just leave please..." He croaked out with his broken voice.
Bo-young pressed her back against the door and slid down as well. A small silence broke out and she was able to hear his heavy breathing.
"I'm not going anywhere until you let me in. I'm going to sit here all day and night until you open this door." She said.
She kept her promise, as time slowly swept by. Eventually she ended up falling asleep, still sitting up against the door. She didn't even wake when he finally opened the door, managing to catch her before she hit the floor. By the time she woke up, it was already night. She woke up in his bed before noticing him sleeping on the ground next to the bed. Bo-young hopped down before laying next to him. His eyes were still blood red from all the tears he must've shed for her. It made her feel even worse but she still really couldn't accept his love.
She poked at his face before giving him a small peck on the forehead. That was more than enough to stir him awake. Bo-young scooted back a little bit as his eyes fully fluttered open. As his eyes made contact with hers, he quickly turned his back towards her before trying to sleep again. This only made her upset, seeing how he was still going to be like this towards her.
"Yah, you're being mean. You're really going to stop being my friend because of this?" She said to him.
Silence, no answer was given by him. She was getting annoyed and began teasing him. She poked at his sides and kept clutching onto him.
"I'm not going to stop until you talk to me. You can kiss your sleep goodbye cause you're not sleeping until we talk." She said as he finally sat up but still had his back to her. She took this chance to mirror the same from earlier and pressed her back against his.
"I'm really sorry... if I had just kept my mouth shut. I shouldn't have told you anything. I was so stupid for thinking we'd be anything more than friends. You probably hate me now..."
"I'm very proud that you were able to tell me (Y/n). But like I told you, I can't see you that way. I will always love you, but I can't love you the same way you love me. So... let's just go back to how it used to be. I need you by my side forever." She softly hugged him from behind.
End of flashback
She was so lost in her memories, she hadn't heard the calls of her name. It wasn't until the door opened that she finally snapped back to reality. She was so startled she dropped the frame as it fell to the ground shattering. (Y/n) noticed the photo immediately as he quickly tried to pick up the pieces.
"I-I, (Y/n) I'm so sorry. You scared me and I just—" She began saying before stopping herself and helping him pick up the pieces.
"Aish, why'd you have to go and break our prize photo of all photos?" He complained.
Suddenly Bo-young yanked her hand back, flinching from the pain that shot through her fingers. A small cut had formed onto the tip of her index finger. (Y/n) quickly moved aside the shards and brought her over into the bathroom where he pulled out a first aid kit. He quickly washed off the blood as she winced in pain. (Y/n) applied a bandaid and stopped the bleeding.
"Sorry." She muttered before he softly turned her around and pushed her, steering her into the kitchen and making her take a seat.
By now he'd already finished cooking, all that was left was to plate his food. He was never much of a cook, but he got by. They both dug in as the two just silently ate. It wasn't until Bo-young broke their silence that the two finally cleared the atmosphere.
"Do you remember that night we spent together? After I came to bring you back to school?" She asked.
"It's perfectly engraved in my memory, why?"
"Did you... really like me that much?" Bo-young asked.
"It wasn't even liking you at that point... I was head over heels for you. I was in love with you back then." He answered her.
She couldn't help but openly smiling at the sound of that. Her mind was imagining what could've been of them two if she never rejected him.
"Sorry about the photo. I'll pay for a new frame." Bo-young told him as he shook his head.
"It's only a frame. The photo is all that matters. I'll get it fixed no problem." He refused her offer.
The two of them cleaned up their plates before (Y/n) began washing them. Bo-young went back and forth on her new question. She wanted to ask it, but was it really the right time though? Screw it, she thought and went and pushed out her question to him.
"(Y/n), why do you still have that photo of us?" She asked, leaning up against the counter next to him.
"Just for memories, why? Is it wrong that I valued our time together?" She shook her head, replying that she felt happy he still thought back to their days.
She moved behind and pressed her back against his. Ever since that night, this had become their way of talking about problems. It was nice knowing the other person would be there for them, even if you didn't want to see their face at the moment. He let out a small laugh as this shot through all the moments in his memories that this had happened.
"(Y/n).... do you still love me?" The question came out of nowhere, making (Y/n) drop the current plate he was washing. Luckily it was still in the sink, so nothing else was going to be broken today.
"Of course I still do. I promised you didn't I? I'll be by your side forever, even after we're married off into our own lives." He said, unknowingly giving her the wrong answer.
"No, not that way. I meant if you were still in love with me." She corrected herself.
"Oh... well, then I guess I don't? I don't love you that way anymore." He said, as she felt what he felt all those years ago.
"So, you wanna tell me what's on your mind? Why are you suddenly asking me if I'm still in love with you?" He told her.
"I-I... think I should go now, it's getting late." She said, separating their backs. (Y/n) quickly wiped off his hands before grabbed her arm, stopping her from leaving.
"You're not leaving until you tell me why you're upset." (Y/n) said.
"I-I'm fine (Y/n), just let me go—" She muttered to him, still trying to shake off his grip.
She suddenly broke free but only to squint at the poke she felt on her sides. Her body jumped as she couldn't help but laugh at this throwback. She scrambled away from him, running around his living room as he playfully chased her. It was like they were kids again.
"Yah! Stop it! I just want to go home." She shouted still moving around to avoid him.
"Nope. This is payback for not letting me sleep that night. You're not going home until you tell me everything." He said still chasing after her.
They slowly tired themselves out as Bo-young stopped to take a seat on his couch. This gave (Y/n) the chance to finally confront her about it, now that their little fun had ended. He sat down next to her as she slammed her head into his shoulder and let it rest. Now, he wasn't completely dense to the point where he couldn't sense the meanings of these types of actions. However, he didn't want to jump to conclusions and assume anything.
The way he saw it, she was harboring feelings for him now. Something he never imagined happening, and something he had stopped wishing for since high school. But then again, it was only his face that was making this happen in the first place. She couldn't have fallen for his quirks alone, not when she couldn't do it back then. Why now of all times then? He really did value her as his best friend, and he knew she'd never do this for his money. Her family wasn't the wealthiest, but she was doing just fine where she was. It would be wrong for him to ask if she felt that way, but she did openly ask him earlier about his feelings as well.
"Bo-young... are you in love with me?" He shot it, there was nothing else to hold him back.
"I... n-no of course not. You're my friend only... there's no way we could ever be..." She couldn't even finish her sentence. She had backed off of him while saying that to him and scooted against the edge of the couch.
(Y/n) turned to her before grabbing both her hands and making her look at him. She was far too anxious about this and her words were making him worry.
"I hate it... I hate myself." She muttered to him.
"I hate that I'm falling for you because of the new you. I can't help but like your new looks more than the other you. I know I've always wanted us to be only friends but ever since you started dating Hee-Jin, I began to realize what I lost. Even then I couldn't bring myself to admit that I liked you. But now, I really can't help it and I'm falling more and more for you."Bo-young shhok his hands off hers and covered her face.
What was he to think of this? She just flat out confessed to him that she's in love with him. (Y/n) wasn't lying about his feelings towards her, he really did lose those types of feelings for Bo-young.
"What do you want me to do about it...?" He asked.
She peeked though the crevices of her fingers and met his eyes. Her face was burning up at this point. She thought of his offer, and slowly leaned forward towards him. She pressed herself into his arms and softly pushed him down. Bo-young climbed atop of him and snuggled into his arms.
"Can we..." She began saying but cut herself off when she placed her own lips against his.
Her smaller frame wrapped around him, as she fully cupped his face. Their small sweet kiss turned into a more intensive one. It was short lived as someone interrupted the two.
"(Y/n)?!" The two quickly pulled away and looked towards the voice of the person who just shouted.
Hee-Jin was standing there, furious with the scene in front of her. She walked over to the two and tried to stand in between them. She harshly pushed Bo-young off of (Y/n) and wrapped her arms around him. (Y/n) tried to pry her off of him, as Bo-young just stood there having some sense come back to her.
"What are you doing here Hee-Jin?" (Y/n) asked.
"We're still together aren't we?! And here you are, sucking faces with another girl!" Hee-Jin said.
"Where are the results then? I gave you a chance, where is it?" He asked, but she answered his question with her actions. Her grip tightened, and she made no attempts to pull out any form of proof.
"I-I lied... I'm not pregnant, I thought I was. But I can still, we can still have one. Please (Y/n), just give me another chance." She scrambled on and on but his mind was already made up.
"Hee-Jin, I already gave you a chance. You lied to me again, and I can't trust you again. Please leave, don't make this harder for any of us." He said.
She kept apologizing and asking for more chances but he just pushed her pleads away. He threatened to call for security and that was enough for her to leave. Her attempts to persuade him were pointless as he finally let go of her entirely. With her gone, he could focus on the more important person who was still there. After kicking Hee-Jin out, (Y/n) made his way back to her seeing that she was still conflicted with their kiss from earlier. She was still standing up, but she had moved over to the window.
(Y/n) hugged her from behind, startling her a little. Her hands soon quickly closed over his. He rested his head atop of her shoulder as they stood there slowly shifting in place.
"So, what do you want me to do now?" He asked, reminiscent of his words from earlier. She spun around before reaching up and cupping his face.
"I want you (Y/n). I want us to be something now, more than just friends." She whispered to him.
"You told me not to catch feelings for you again. Sorry, but I think I'm falling in love with you all over again Bo-young." He told her as they both smiled at his answer.
Timeskip
(Y/n) frantically ran through the halls of the hospital. The room number ran through a million times in his head. His heartbeat surpassed his speed as he kept running towards his goal. He had received a call, alerting him that Bo-young had been in an car accident. Both her, and another person were rushed to the hospital afterwards. Here he was, running for the both of their lives. Swinging pass other patients and doctors, he finally reached the correct room.
Upon entering the room, something was already wrong. The person laying in that bed wasn't Bo-young, instead it was Hee-Jin. She herself didn't look so good, after he'd finally realized that she was the other person involved with the accident. Her injuries were minor, a few scapes and scratches. She was conscious at the moment as he quickly threw himself at her.
"Hee-Jin, where is she? Where is Bo-young?! What did you do?!" He screamed at her as the workers tried to restrain him from nearly tearing her apart.
They warned him to control himself or he would be removed. They then informed him that Bo-young was currently in surgery. She was hit head on, while Hee-Jin was shielded by Bo-young's body. According to what they've learned, Hee-Jin was the one who pushed the both of them into the street, and starting a fight between the two. A car was about to hit Hee-Jin head on but Bo-young had pushed her slightly out of the way before being struck herself.
"If she dies... you will spend the rest of your life in agony. I will chase you to the ends of earth and make sure you pay for everything." He promised Hee-Jin.
He was led towards her surgery room as he was instructed to wait outside. Precious time swept by as it took longer and longer for an update. His heart was breaking, not knowing how she was doing at the moment. It took everything in him to not break into the room and see her himself. Eventually both of her parents arrived and helped comfort the young man, who was on the verge of a meltdown. He had still yet to reveal his relationship with Bo-young to them two.
As if on timing, a doctor came out and prepared to tell them the news. (Y/n)'s eyes met his and his heart shattered, whatever wasn't broken before, it was now. She didn't survive, her injuries were too severe. Her body was bleeding internally and couldn't be stopped in time. Her parents were in distraught while (Y/n)'s devastation was short lived. The night he was reborn, the orb, abyss. Those two told him it held the power to revive other people.
It seemed bad, but he left. He rushed home as fast as he could before tearing his home apart in search of Abyss. His room was shredded by the time he'd realized where it was. It was inside of his pocket, yet he couldn't feel it being there. It wasn't long before he rushed back to the hospital and tried to find her body.
(Y/n)'s POV
It wasn't easy to get the doctors to let him in, but he played his cards right. He was left alone with just her as he prepared to attempt to use Abyss. (Y/n) pulled out the glowing orb from his pockets, as it shined brightly in the dim room. The moment it was brought near Bo-young's body, it began to vibrate. But nothing happened, she didn't come back to life or anything yet. He was never taught to use it in the first place. All it said on the orb was that a person could be revived from death.
"Please, please just this once. Let me bring back this person. I need her to stay by my side forever, I can't lose her now." He desperately said toy he orb as it turned an even brighter shade of yellow.
Moments passed, but nothing changed. Her cold body still laid there lifeless. His last strands of hope vanished in front of him as he embraced her one last time. He finally accepted his defeat and decided to leave the room and perhaps help plan out the funeral. He never imagined their love would be so shortly lived. There were too many emotions to be harboring right now. He wanted to throw himself off a building again, while wanting to break down in a corner and cry, and another part wanted to murder a person.
Just as he reached the door he heard some shifting behind him. (Y/n) didn't want to give himself false hope by thinking he'd imagined it. But it was all too real when he heard something that quickly spun him around.
"(Y/n)?" Her voice came out towards him.
He rushed over ignoring her new looks. This was her true self in front of him right now. If your soul was meant to be reflected then hers was truly an angel.
"Where am I? Why are you crying?" She asked not getting an answer out of him. Her memory suddenly caught up and she finally remembered what happened to her.
"It's all your fault that he left me! If you never told him I'd still be with him! He would still be in love with me. You must be real happy now that he's all yours." Hee-Jin's words came to her again.
"Why are you crying so much? I'm fine aren't I?" He finally explained what happened to her. She found out that she had actually died from the accident.
"What? Then... how am I still alive? No, no don't tell me you're also dead?!" He laughed before pulling out a strange looking orb and showing it to her.
The words appeared around it, "Abyss" as (Y/n) kept explaining everything.
"I brought you back to life with this. It has the ability to bring someone back to life. That's how I..." He began saying but realized he never told her what happened that night.
"That night, I killed myself. I jumped off the building and died. But then I was revived with this, Bo-young I was given a second chance at life. That's how I look like this now. When you're revived, your body will take the form of your soul." He told her.
He quickly pulled out his phone switching to the camera and showing Bo-young her new looks. She was a bit taller, her hair was far longer. But her face and looks stayed the same. This was her, she was always this way.
"My hair?! I'm taller than before... how is this even possible?" She asked him.
"I don't know, and I don't care. You're alive, and that's all that matters to me right now. I'm never letting you go ever." (Y/n) told her.
"What about my parents? How do we explain to them? If I died then how do I tell them that I'm now suddenly alive?!" She panicked.
His hold on her tightened, comforting her the best he could. He told her it would all be alright. They didn't need other people to believe them, just the ones who were important. They would tell her parents everything and even if they didn't believe her, a simple DNA test would prove them wrong. (Y/n) snuck both of them out before driving them to her home. It took a while for her parents to finally settle down after seeing their dead daughter again. Her father nearly feinted from shock, until she proved that she was real.
It took a bit to make them understand, since neither of the two could see Abyss. (Y/n) tried his best at explaining with Bo-young backing him up and warranting his words. In the end, they didn't care for what miracles (Y/n) may have performed, it was enough that their daughter was alive again. Bo-young even took the chance to tell her parents about the two being a couple. And of course her parents didn't object it, seeing how (Y/n) would bring their family more fortunate outcomes.
After their goodbyes, Bo-young returned with (Y/n) to his home. Their night was followed with a heated session of lovemaking. He couldn't help it any longer, all he wanted in that moment was to hold her in his arms. Things lead to another and they ended going at it at her request. Both of them explored her new body together as this wasn't their first time ever since getting together, but with her new body it was all too new yet familiar.
The abyss that he had fallen alone into so long ago was now filled with a burning light. (Y/n) had her at his side now, and with Abyss, no harm could come to her anymore. Their new and official lives together were going to be starting now.
Okay, took me far longer than I'd expected. I recycling my ideas for the concept with Abyss. This is what I came out with and I'm very much happy with this version. The ending is very rushed, but I needed to get this chapter over with or I'd never finish. I know the whole Abyss thing isn't actually that big of an impact and wasn't talked about, but it was just there to keep my ideas going.
