Kim Chaewon

I don't know what I'm doing with this story, but let's see where it ends up. I had a bunch of different ideas and probably mashed one or two of them together for this to happen.

Our Wilted Flower of Love
Shouting and loud voices, over and over again. A man's voice just wouldn't shut up when he was clearly in the wrong. "I'm telling you, she hit my daughter first. Why can't that get through your thick head?!" It was irritating to even listen to him speak a single word. "Did your parents answer?" The police officer asked, also being embarrassed by the other man's behavior.

The girl shook her head, having called her mother more than once already. She knew her mom was going to be far too busy today. "What about your father? One of them has to pick up." The officer tried his best to be supportive.

"He's... not around." The younger officer apologized immediately, making her able to smile. He was sincere, even cute she'd say. This mood didn't last when the older man made things worse.

"Maybe if your father was still around you'd learn some better manners than from your mother." The man said, smirking through every line he was saying.

"So that's where your daughter got her disgusting attitude, I'm glad my father was never around to end up like you." The girl remarked, igniting the man to initiate a swing towards her face. However his hand was caught before even nearing halfway towards her face. Instead the man's head was slammed down onto the desk, spilling pens and papers all around.

"Not such a smart thing to do inside a police station is it?" Another man's voice spoke up. The girl looked up after closing her eyes. Another guy was there now holding the man down tightly.

"(Y/n)— Sir! What are you doing here?! Shouldn't you be resting? Yuri is going to kill me if she knows you showed up here." The younger cop panicked.

"Relax, I'm just dropping off some things. And definitely don't tell Yuri or else I'm gonna kick your ass for sure. As for you, I'm not sure whether I want to throw you in a cell for the night or not." (Y/n) looked over to the girl who was staring in disbelief. He always was more of a blunt officer, but it's what got him to where he is now, as head in command sitting as chief.

"Would you rather do that or let this whole thing go? I don't see any injuries on either side, so why not just let this go." (Y/n) asked the man who was still pinned down.

"Agh, you'll be hearing from my lawyer for sure. What kind of officer would dare do this to a civilian!" A laugh chuckled out from the man above. "Well, I'm not on duty at the moment so I'd like to say this is more of a civil matter. Sue me if you'd like, we've got cameras all around in here, I'm sure it'll be interesting to see what you would've done if I didn't interfere." He let go of the man who dragged his daughter away with him, only to be stopped one last time.

"One more thing, as a father myself, I'd suggest you not lay your hands on someone else's daughter." The man let out one last scoff before storming off.

(Y/n) came back to the other two, swiftly leaning over the desk and hitting the younger cop's head. "Sungmin, next time you see someone about to hit another person, stop them. I don't care who's right or wrong." He turned to the girl who was still looking down, embarrassed from being rescued in such a situation.

"People like that are always around, just avoid them the best you can. And even if it's annoying sometimes, just deal with them otherwise it'll lead to worse and worse." She nodded and took in his words of wisdom.

"May I get your name? Just in case anything else comes up." He asked her.

"Minju... Kim Minju." She noticed his eyes widening as he stumbled a little only to be caught by the younger cop's arms.

"Aish, I told you you're in no condition to be here. Go home and rest before you die. I can't have Yuri become chief before me." (Y/n) laughed amidst it all. "You wish you're going to beat her to it, I'm picking her even if she's my daughter."

The younger boy whined but did his best to help seat him down before anything else worsens. "Do you have a ride home? I heard your mother isn't picking up, is there anyone else you could call?" (Y/n) asked.

Minju shook her head in response. She never made any real contacts that could be used like that. All she really had was her mother, but she was so busy that they hardly had time together. Even if she knew her mother tried her hardest, it wouldn't kill them to spend time together. Her mother worked so hard to provide for both of them, and that's why she's been living her life comfortably.

Suddenly a blood curling shout came from down the room. "Yah! What are you doing here?!" A small hamster ran over and jumped (Y/n) with constant hits on his back.

"You're supposed to be resting appa! I'm really going to kill you before that sickness does." Minju's eyes took in their looks, despite the lack of similarity in looks, both of them had the same energy. She was his daughter in heart for sure, and it even warmed her heart a bit seeing such a loving relationship the two had.

"I'm just here to drop off some files, you didn't listen to me about bringing them in. And plus, I got to help out your boyfriend here." Both Yuri and Sungmin erupted at the sound of them dating.

"Minju, would you like a ride home?" (Y/n) said suddenly, breaking through the chaos and coming back to her. Parents always said to never trust strangers but, for some reason she felt safe being near (Y/n). He showed himself off being a responsible parent well enough, but it was still something she couldn't figure out. His eyes were so warm and full of life, something people always said about her as well. Even if she begged to differ from their perspectives.

"Yah, you're in no condition to drive. I'll take her home, along with you. My shift is already over." Yuri said.

"Minju, right? Come on, I'll take you home." Yuri offered her a hand to which she grabbed firmly. Minju thought she was a kind person from an initial judgment, and plus she was cute. The bonus was her father's characteristics.

The drive home gave them time to get to know Minju more. Yuri and her got along well enough to exchange numbers which made (Y/n) content for reasons unknown to them both. Minju had definitely noticed his gaze at moments, at first she thought it was just as an adult looking out for a youth but it seemed to be much more. The way he stumbled when she said her name, and since then he's been looking at her with the same eyes he lays on Yuri.

They pulled onto the sidewalk as Yuri walked Minju over to her door. (Y/n) stayed in the car, finally being able to breathe easy again. However it was too soon to take in his breath as he watched as a car pulled up into the driveway. The door opened up as an older woman stepped out, just seeing her again after such a long time made him feel many things. Pain mixed with love was what he'd call it.

"Eomma, why didn't you pick up? I called you... 7 times and you didn't even call back." Minju asked

"I was in a meeting, you know I can't pick up calls during them. You took care of yourself well enough, I don't even have to worry about you." Her mother said.

"I... didn't even know what to do. If it weren't for someone else I would've been in more trouble. You could have at least picked up the phone. I needed you." Minju confessed, feeling distraught from her mother's reactions.

"I won't do it again, I promise. Thanks for sending her home officer." Minju's mother said, shaking Yuri's hand gently. Yuri shook her head, refusing the compliments.

"My dad helped her out, I was just sending her back on his offer." She couldn't help but smile at her dad who was still inside their car.

"He raised you well then, can I get a name? So that I can repay the both of you." Yuri nodded her head in response.

"Just send it to my dad, it'll be easier to locate his office. He's the head chief, his name is Kim (Y/n)." The mood suddenly dropped, as Minju noticed her mother's face change its content.

"Get out of here." Yuri's ears picked up the low growl from the older woman.

"I'm sorry?" Minju's arm was grabbed by her mother, being pulled away from Yuri. Without having a reason within her, Yuri grabbed tre other hand of Minju, stopping her from getting dragged off.

"Let her—'' A car door being slammed cut off the older woman. As she took in a voice she hadn't wished to hear for the rest of her life. "Yuri-ah, let's go. We shouldn't be here any longer." Hearing her father, she immediately let go and went over to him. A following of footsteps was heard behind her as she turned around to witness her father receive the side of Minju's mother's hand.

"Hi, Chaewon." He said aloud, for the first time in years. His face was in sharp stinging pain, she really didn't hold back at all.

"How many times do I have to tell you to stay away from me and my daughter? Don't forget you shouldn't even be near me, I'll pull you into that courtroom again." Yuri shrunk in her place as she soon realized all the things his father once told her.

"She's my daughter too Chaewon. Besides... I happened to be there at the wrong time. Regardless, I can't ignore someone who needs help. We're just dropping her off, that's all." Minju's eyes couldn't stop blinking to shake herself off from hearing those words come off of his lips. He was her father?! All this time, she wanted to find him and here he was within her grasps.

"You lost that right the day she showed up on our doorsteps." Chaewon pointed violently at Yuri. It was still as if it had happened just so vividly ago, a sudden day when (Y/n) found Yuri as a baby outside of their house. Nothing other than a note saying it was his child. "She has no fault in this, don't pin the blame on my daughter." Yuri could see the clear anger on her face because of him. The fact that he has really accepted her as his daughter.

"Let's go, Yuri." (Y/n) comforted his daughter as he sheltered her inside the car before taking to the wheel. Thankfully she spared him another word, Chaewon stormed off taking her daughter inside as (Y/n) began driving off. The drive home was silent, Yuri was still shaken up from meeting the very person who hated her existence.

The moment they stepped inside their home, Yuri walked off into her room. She shut the door behind her and locked it, sliding down against it immediately. She knew he was right behind her the whole time, and she knew what was coming next.

"Are you still 5 years old? Open the door for me, Yuri." Her dad never treated her like a fool, and she knew he always wanted the best for her if anything else. She reached up and unlocked it, crashing straight into him.

"How many times have we done this? How many times will it take for you to understand that you are my daughter?" She shuddered from hearing his words.

"Even without sharing a single drop of blood with you... you are still my daughter." She learned from an early age that they weren't related. He never kept much from her, and even went as far allowing her to know that he wasn't her real father.

And because of this, she never wanted to disappoint him. He's the reason why she became a cop, the only reason why she's living.

"I'm happy when you're happy, I feel everything you feel. So don't make me sad too. I've watched you grow up for the past 19 years, and I plan on doing so until I die. You are my brat, my hamster, and my daughter all in one." She chuckled under his hold, unable to stop herself from giggling amongst the tears. "I will never stop loving you, so don't ever think that I would be upset at you. My life before you was my past, and you are my future."

"Thanks appa... thank you for everything." She smiled through it all as he wiped her tears dry.

"Promise me you won't go near Chaewon and Minju okay? I don't want to pay a fine, and I definitely don't want to spend a night in my own cells." She swore to him without knowing the future, but she knew she would do her best to fulfill her end.

Minju's POV
All she had were questions, and they didn't seem like they were going to be answered. Her mother had stormed off into her own room. Minju was left alone to deconstruct it all by herself. How did this night get even worse than it already was? Just as she started to relax after being saved by her now discovered father. She's seen her mother upset before but never like this. This was an unbridled rage that she had inside of her. She couldn't get that painful look on his face out of her own head. Even if she only recently found out their connections, she still felt bad seeing him in such a situation like this.

Even if it was only a mere moment she had with him, her father didn't seem to be such a bad person. He seemed to be admired by his workers and even his own "daughter". Speaking of her... would that make both Yuri and her sisters? Or half sisters in a sense then, otherwise her mother wouldn't be so angry at Yuri and her father.

Minju finally entered her room, plopping onto her bed. There were just so many questions of hers that were going to remain unanswered. Considering how her mother overreacted then she definitely won't tell her anything. Maybe her father would, but that would mean having to find him. Or maybe at least Yuri, if she worked at that station then it wouldn't be so hard. Minju left it at that, hoping for the best as she decided to call it a night.

2 days later
The week was coming to an end, finally Minju could have some time to run down to the station. For the past two days she hasn't been able to get any proper answer from her mother. It was killing her, not knowing what happened between her parents. It affected her so badly she couldn't even sleep properly. Minju had tried bringing it up to her mother, but every time it just made her shut down and avoid the discussion any further. She had to take this matter into her own hands, and starting with a few simple answers would help calm her down.

Upon entering the station she remembered briefly where to go and made her way towards the offices. As she rounded a corner she bumped into someone with a familiar face. "Oh, it's you again. What are you doing here?" Minju was happy to see a friendly face, even if she had only met him once.

"I-I'm looking for Yuri, do you know where she is?" Sungmin nodded before offering to show her the way. He opened up a door to what seemed like a break room, revealing Yuri inside alongside another girl. "Oh, who's that oppa?" The other girl asked.

"She's here for Yuri." The girl who's name was spoken was quite surprised at the sudden visit. Minju watched as the other girl showed off a jealous face whilst looking at her and Yuri. "She's taken by the way, so if you're here for that reason then—" Yuri quickly smacked her arm making her stop.

"It's not like that Yena, plus she's my... sister? I guess that's what we could label ourselves as." Both Yena and Sungmin gasped out of shock, sharing the same brain cell.

"I thought you were an only child, how come you've never mentioned having a sister?!" Yena asked loudly.

Yuri laughed a bit seeing Minju feeling the same as her. It was odd for either of them to express how they were feeling aside from being awkward. Minju lacked the context and Yuri was going against her father's advice to stay away from his past.

"Relax, I only just found out a few days ago as well. Could you two give us some space, I'm sure there's a lot the both of us need to talk about." Sungmin dragged the younger girl out, closing the door behind them.

"Okay, now that it's all quiet... why are you here?" Yuri asked.

"I... want some answers. And I was hoping you could help answer." Yuri nodded, ushering Minju to sit down across from her. "It's gonna be a long story, so it's best if you sit first."

"You ask and I'll answer, at least to all of my capabilities. I can't say I know everything, and I never wanted to intrude on appa's past." Minju nodded again, thinking about what card she should play first.

"Why did my eomma and (Y/n) get divorced?" Yuri opened her mouth only to shut it again, letting out a remorseful laugh. "You take after appa too, always asking hard questions." Minju felt happy for an unknown reason, hearing that she shared a resemblance to her father.

"I was the reason why they split apart." Yuri suddenly dropped, seeing Minju's face twist with confusion.

"What do you mean by that?" Yuri shushed her with a finger to her own lips. "Let me finish, it's a big mess and I don't want to confuse you any further."

"I was left on appa's doorstep one day. My eomma was his ex, and she assumed that he was the father. So without contacting him at all, she just left me to him. Obviously this didn't make your mom very happy. She thought he cheated on her, and even had another child with someone else." Minju slowly decrypted the story as Yuri did her best to explain the details. "Without giving him a chance to explain himself or to even get proof, your mom made him leave. The house, the money, it all went to her. I... only made things worse when appa decided he wanted to keep me." Yuri spoke with guilt leaking in every word that breathed out.

"Appa took so many DNA tests with me, trying to see if I really was his. In the end, it all turned out to be false. I didn't share a drop of blood with him." Minju's heart aches badly, feeling so many emotions at the same didn't feel great.

"Why didn't he just tell my eomma then?! Those tests were proof that he didn't cheat and that... you weren't his." Yuri shook her head from side to side. "It wasn't that easy. Your mother shut him out from anything, she wouldn't even bother to listen to a word he said. I don't even know if she ever saw the tests but I'm sure she wouldn't even believe it."

It was hard to pick sides in this dilemma, but she started leaning towards her father's side. Her eomma never talked about him, aside from the story that he left. Yuri on the other hand knew almost all the details of their father's story.

"Appa tried so hard to make amends for something he didn't even do. Your mother took sole custody of you, and even put a restraining order against appa. That was after he had tried to see you again for the 3rd time." Yuri spoke as if she was her appa herself, she knew what he went through and how he always felt.

"He never forgot you, all his life he lived because of you and I. He worked so hard to earn promotions just to get us by, while also paying for your education." That shows why she and her eomma were living so comfortably while only having one source of income.

"Why was he paying for me? If my eomma cut him off then why did he continue to help us?" Yuri's soft smile turned more and more bitter until she couldn't muster it any longer. "She made him pay child support, and it wasn't easy for him. Appa was taking care of me by himself and having to work nonstop just to make sure we got by. Then he would also have to help pay your mother." Minju's hand covered her mouth in shock.

"Why would she do such a thing to him? She could've at least talked it out with him. I... I—" Minju couldn't bear it herself, but she tried her hardest not to let her emotions seep out. Yuri reached over and embraced her, feeling the girl break down in her arms. "How could she do this to him..." Minju cried out while holding onto Yuri.

The only memory of her father played out in her head, seeing him being the most genuine person she had ever met. "Y-You said he was sick... what did you mean by that?" Yuri remained silent, trying to stop herself from joining Minju in letting her emotions pour out.

"Y-Yuri... why is appa sick?" Minju looked up at the younger girl seeing the glassy tears in her eyes.

"His heart isn't doing well, it began to fail last year. He's been recovering ever since then. Every time he gets heavily stressed his condition just worsens, so I've been forcing him to stay away from work. The doctors said it was built up over years worth of stress, that's why it's hitting him so hard." The two slowly recovered from the emotions and talked some more before departing later.

Night
Minju sat in her living room struggling with her thoughts and decisions. Everything Yuri told her was enough to push her to do this. On the other hand, this was her own eomma she would be going up against. She wanted to scream, scold, and maybe even curse at her own eomma for doing such a thing to her father. But first she needed her side of the story, even if she is still wrong in the end. Minju was willing to give her that much before choosing what she wanted to do next.

The door clicked open from the sounds of keys jingling together. A sigh was also let out as the tone ringed into Minju's ears. "Minju? What are you doing there?" Her eomma said as she came over to the same room as her.

"It's late, why are you still awake?" It hurt seeing that her mother was still caring for her, even if she knew what she was going to unleash next.

"I need to talk with you." Chaewon immediately sat down beside her, taking a hold of her hands. "Go on, what's wrong?"

"Promise me you'll answer truthfully to what I'm going to ask." Although Chaewon immediately questioned it, she still agreed to it.

"Tell me what happened between you and dad. Why am I only just now learning the reasons why you two broke apart?" Minju watched as the previously concerned and happy face turned sour and bitter right in front of her eyes.

"It doesn't matter what happened. He's not with us, and he won't ever be." Her words are filled with poison, hurting Minju with them.

"You promised, and if you don't want him to be a part of us... then why did you make him pay so much for both of us?" Minju pushed on, feeling the truth from Yuri flow through her. "Who told you that?! It doesn't matter, it was the least he could do. Especially after what he did to you and I."

"Please... please tell me you gave him a chance. At least once so that he could tell you everything..." Minju cried, tears falling from her eyes.

"He cheated on me and had another child with his ex, there was nothing I wanted to hear from him. I... I spent all my life trying to make him see me as more than just a friend. And when I finally did, it was all just a lie. He went back to the very person who broke him first." Chaewon let out, feeling her memories relive through her.

"Yuri isn't his!" Chaewon snapped to the side, for the first time her child shouted back at her. "W-What are you talking about? Of course she's his daughter, that day she arrived at our door and he's been raising her until now."

Minju cried more, shaking her head at the clueless woman in front of her. Oh how simple a single conversation could have saved both her parents from such a heartache that lasted over 2 decades. Chaewon tried to call her down but instead Minju pushed her away.

"You're so wrong, all this time you never even tried to know." Minju said, taking in deep breaths to drown out the running tears.

"Appa... he didn't do anything wrong." That word, it felt so soothing to say. For the first time that it meant more than anything to her. "Yuri isn't his daughter... but he still took care of her regardless. Yuri said they took multiple DNA tests, and it never once came out positive." Minju explained more.

"Instead of listening to him, you chose to push him away so far that he gave up. All he could do was raise a daughter that he decided to make his, all the while paying for his real one so that she could live a comfortable life."

"I wanted it to be wrong, I wanted to think it was a mistake on both ends. I never wanted to be angry at you, of all people my own eomma." Chaewon had completely shrunken down from the shouts of her own daughter. She didn't want to believe anything but even if she didn't, the reality of how her daughter has explained was all too right. From loving someone so much to hating them for the rest of their life.

"I want to meet him... I want to meet with appa. I want to spend time with him, with what little time he might even have left." The hands that were shielding her own face instantly pulled away, as Chaewon's mind turned back on and caught onto those words.

"What do you mean? What's wrong with him?" Minju let out a hateful cry, wanting this to be a nightmare. Even if that would mean her whole life and existence.

"Go ask him yourself... find out what you ignored for so long. Find out why you still feel so resentful for appa, even after 20 years." The girl walked away, rushing into her room and locking the door shut behind her.

Next Day
Chaewon couldn't sleep last night, the words from her daughter still stabbed her repeatedly in the heart. It was more than a wake up call, it was like living in an alternate universe, one where you were wrong all along. One where you were the final villain, the very thing you would always hate and never want to become. She called off work and stayed in for the day, hoping to learn a bit more from her child but she was already gone by morning. Minju left a note at the very least, saying she wanted to see her father. So, the first thought of ever going to meet (Y/n) again crossed her mind.

Chaewon fought against it, even if it hurt the more she began to believe she was wrong. A forbidden door opened inside her room, a closet door she never wanted to see again. Inside were all her memories of happiness with the one she once called love. There were so many pictures inside, with his reasoning of creating more than just a digital memory. Small trinkets and gifts from one another, and a locket containing a photo of them together.

It was the last thing that sent the final nail into her heart, their boxed rings. Her ring had come off a long time ago, ever since they split for good. Her hands trembled, slowly reaching out to grab the box, feeling the soft silky touch. Chaewon flicked the top open, her eyes glistened at the sight of the single ring inside. (Y/n) had kept his, one of the very few things she allowed him to keep.

"I'll wait for you, whenever you want to see me again, I'll be there for you." (Y/n)'s voice played in her head.

Chaewon shoved the box into her pocket before grabbing her things. She got into her car and drove, being controlled by her emotions completely. Eventually she arrived at the location that was displayed on her phone, due to tracking her own daughter's device. It was hard to breathe as she slowly came closer and closer to his door. It was the other way around now, before she would force him to stay as far away as possible from her. And now she was the one who was coming to him.

She knocked on the door, hearing footsteps approach the entrance. Her eyes met him immediately, seeing a sense of worry in them.

"Before you hit me... she came here by herself." (Y/n)'s voice spoke out to her, awaiting the expected strike from her.

Instead she proved him wrong and walked past him, coming into his living room. Minju's voice could be heard in a separate room along with Yuri's. The two sisters were getting along, as they always would have. That joy and humor instantly died away, as Yuri noticed Chaewon enter the room. Minju also joined in the silence, her face twisting at the sight of her own mother.

"I'm not going back. Not until you realize what you've done wrong." Minju whispered out, seeing no change in her mother's face.

"I'm sorry..." Chaewon breathed out, feeling their burning gaze on her.

Minju shook her head, rejecting her apology. "Don't apologize to me, I'm not the one who deserves it." A creak came behind Chaewon, who slowly turned around to see (Y/n)'s face again.

"It's going to take more than that. Just a simple apology isn't enough for what you did to my appa. He loved you so much... even when you hated him more than anything." Yuri cried out, her legs had shot herself up into a stand.

"Yuri, that's enough. Give us some space please." Yuri nodded before dragging Minju out of the room.

(Y/n) took a seat, also ushering Chaewon to sit down. The way he still looked at her made her feel wrong. They sat together for a bit before (Y/n) was the first to break their silence.

"Are you going to enforce that restraining order on me? I swear I didn't contact Minju at all, so please don't try to waste both of our time." Chaewon shook her head, relieving him of being in a courtroom with her again.

"If you're here to take her back then I'll tell her to go home. I never expected to see her knock on my door, even if it made my heart jump for a good reason." She watched as the smile on his face slowly dissolved as he finished his words.

"Chaewon..." She jolted, seeing him immediately worry for her just as he always has. "Please say something..."

"H-How can you... how can you still look at me that way...?" She whispered out, seeing his genuine smile as always.

"You of all people should know why. My heart belongs to you only, even if you don't love me anymore." A shot of heartache pierced her chest, feeling a string of emotions running through her body.

"Minju told me... that Yuri and you. Are you two related...?" A small laugh escaped him, hearing words he never thought he'd hear.

"It took you 20 years to ask... and the truth is the same as when I first tried to show you." Her mind revisited the time when he first came back to her after a month.

"I wanted to show you that I was innocent, that I would never betray your trust. Instead... you hit me, shouted at me, and slammed the door in my face. All I wanted to do was to prove that I never wanted to hurt you. I knew from then on that even if I said anything, you'd never believe me." (Y/n) said.

"I'm sorry..." Chaewon cried out, biting down on her fingers to suppress her tears.

"I've wanted you to come to me so many times, more than I can count. Even if we didn't get back together, at the very least you wouldn't have to spend the rest of your life hating me." Every word that came out of him hit her harder by the second.

"What do you want?" Her head shot up to look at him in confusion. "Why are you here? If it's for Minju then please just take her already."

Chaewon shut her eyes tightly, letting loose any excess tears. Her trembling stopped for a bit before she mustered up a breath. However, just another glimpse at him made her fall apart, no matter how strong she was.

"I'm here for you..." She used to make his heart flutter, and maybe it did work a bit, but it wasn't what he wanted.

"And what do you want with me?" (Y/n) asked sternly.

"Minju... said you were sick. She wants to spend time with you, especially now that she knows our story." Chaewon answered.

He smiled bitterly, seeing as she's learned of his health wellbeing. "That still doesn't explain why you're here." (Y/n) said, seeing that she avoided the previous question.

Chaewon took in a deep breath, letting it loose before swallowing her pride. "To make amends, for everything I've done... to you, and Yuri." His heart that had been shattered beyond repairs, and the lies she's filled her head with.

"And how do you intend on making these amends? What, do we just suddenly get back together? After all this time?" (Y/n) said, stating the obvious problem here.

"I'll do whatever you want, I'll give you all of my time. Just please... let me do something for you before it's too late..." Chaewon let out a broken cry, trying to hide the pain she was feeling from him.

"I just want you to be happy, and to remember me as a good person. When someone asks about me, I don't want to have them know that I was a bad husband, a 'cheater', and a deserter. I want you to remember only the good things about me, after I'm gone." She shook her head in response to hearing him say that final line, wishing for it to not happen.

"How long...? H-How much time do you have left?" Chaewon asked, looking away not wanting to see the truth leak from his eyes.

"Who says I'm dying?" (Y/n) suddenly asked, seeing shock spread throughout her whole body.

"Minju said you were sick?" Chaewon stated, thinking of what else her daughter could've referred to when mentioning his illness.

"As if a little sickness like this would be the death of me. I'm going to be just fine, I just need to rest for a while." Hearing him being himself seemed so extraordinary, having forgotten how devoted he always made himself out to be.

Chaewon's tears began to fall again, relinquishing her thoughts of him meeting his end. She felt a fire begin to ignite inside her heart, slowly melting at the frozen chamber that stored her feelings for him. (Y/n) only ended up adding more fuel to that fire by approaching her and wiping her face clear of tears.

Her body began to move by itself, leaning in forward towards him. His hands that held onto her face suddenly gave her a small force of resistance. Chaewon's eyes widened a little when she saw him shake his head, rejecting the action she was about to do.

"Not like this, don't let your tears drive your emotions. Besides... it'll take a lot more than just a kiss to mend our hearts." (Y/n) said, letting her go.

"T-Then what do you want?! I don't know what to do anymore. I want to apologize but it's not going to be enough... no matter what I do I can't stop hating myself." She shouted at him and herself, holding onto her head in pain.

"Step by step, we can take them together. But first, you should talk with Minju. And I want you to meet Yuri properly." (Y/n) said, always surprising her with his smiles in rough times.

With Minju
Never once did Chaewon think it would be so hard to speak with her own daughter. Minju had turned against her and she had every reason to. But she wasn't intending on losing her like this, and she knows even (Y/n) wouldn't allow it. If the truth had unfolded already, then the best thing she could do now is submit and let things flow along.

"I'm sure you've heard everything by now." Chaewon said, seeing a small nod come from her daughter. "I'm sorry... for keeping things from you all this time. And I was wrong, I... I know now." She had already been drained of her tears, and yet a few still managed to appear out of thin air.

Minju wasted no time rushing over and comforting her eomma. No matter how much conflict that had gone through them both in such a short amount of time, this was still her mother. "I'm not mad at you, not anymore. I just want all of us to be happy. Especially both you and appa." She felt her mother nod in response, feeling content more and more.

"And I want to be able to see appa, whenever I want to. I want to be in his life, as much as I want him to be in ours." Chaewon only ended up agreeing further to meet her daughter's demands.

With Yuri
Chaewon couldn't help but see the resemblance between (Y/n) and Yuri. Even if they weren't connected by blood, she shared his presence. (Y/n) wanted them to talk, and yet she didn't have the words to say anything. So Yuri did it for her instead, speaking her mind with no hesitation.

"Appa said to be nice to you, but I just don't think I can. There's so many things I want to say to you, even yell. But then I'd get in trouble." Yuri said, keeping herself calm.

"I don't forgive you, not yet. There's so many things you can still do to apologize to appa. And if he... wants you, then I won't interfere. But I'm not calling you eomma, I don't think I can." Chaewon only nodded, not uttering a single word since she was still taken aback by Yuri's choice of words. It was far too kind, just like her father's.

"I... don't blame you. I know you hate me, for what I did to both you and (Y/n). I don't intend on interfering with your life, even (Y/n)'s." There was some truth in her words, aside from knowing what wasn't possible.

"Then what's the point of making amends with my appa. Do you think just apologizing and spending one day together will really make everything go away?" Yuri said.

"I've never understood why appa didn't hate you. He always remembered you as a sweet memory. After all that happened between you two. Even now I still don't know how he can be... happy." Chaewon herself also couldn't believe it. After all this time, not once has (Y/n) ever muttered a single word of hate to her.

"Don't hurt him again... I don't know if he can handle it again. Ever since he ran into Minju, he's been feeling better than ever. His illness was stable, nothing good or bad. Thankfully Minju has changed it for the better. Don't be the one to turn it backwards." Yuri said, biting down on her anger to not explode on Chaewon in that moment.

With (Y/n)
Chaewon made her way towards (Y/n)'s room with a bit of guidance from Minju. The younger girl apparently already had her share of exploring the house. She gave his door a few knocks before entering. The sight of him sitting on the bed just staring straight at her made her jump a little. The way his eyes lingered on her stiff frozen body made her struggle to breathe. He gave her a small sign to come over closer to him.

"I talked with them both. Minju wants to spend more time with you from now on, and I agreed to it. As long as she still focuses on her studies, then I don't mind if she comes over to visit you." Chaewon took a seat on the edge of the bed, as far away as possible.

"I'd like that a lot, thank you Chaewon. How was Yuri?" He asked.

"She's your daughter... by heart. You raised her well, despite all the hardships I threw your way. She isn't fond of me, and I accept every ounce of her hate." (Y/n) laughed a bit, knowing that Yuri was just being herself. The girl could never be hateful, only cautious, especially when it came to something like this.

"N-Now what? What else do you want from me?" She turned to him just in time as he moved closer to her. Their faces were reminiscent of how they were almost an hour ago. Only, this time (Y/n) didn't push her away.

Their lips met, rekindling a flame that had long been extinguished. Her heart was on fire, feeling his warmth burn away the ice cold chains around her heart. Suddenly the feeling of wet drop against her face made her stop, reopening her eyes to meet him. She wanted to ask what was wrong, but he knew his answer before she could even ask.

"Please don't let this be a dream..." Chaewon immediately reconnected their lips to comfort him. As they stopped, Chaewon couldn't help but let out a soft cry, both reasons of sadness and happiness.

"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry (Y/n)..." She held on tightly as he did his best to hush her cries away. It was a start, a fresh start for them both again.

Night
Both (Y/n) and Chaewon had ended up falling asleep in each other's arms. As much as they would have loved to talk more, they knew not another word was needed for the moment. Chaewon immediately felt the backlash of loosening so many tears earlier. Her eyes were red upon reopening. (Y/n) was gone from the bed and instead was replaced with Minju. All the shifting in her wake also awakened her daughter.

"Appa's cooking, and he asked me to come stay with you." Minju said, loving every feeling of those words.

Chaewon held her closer, happy that things were changing for the better good. She still had much more to say and do with (Y/n), but for now they were on a stable road.

"I'm happy that you're making up with appa. Yuri and I sneaked a peak at you two. Yuri was a little upset at first but I talked it out with her. She's sweet, and I hope you will also get along with her." Chaewon nodded, also wishing for the same.

"Let's go, I'm hungry." Minju said, dragging her mother out of bed and leading her downstairs. Yuri was alongside her father, helping him chop up some ingredients. Her eyes still had a tint of a glare in them for Chaewon, but it was long gone before they could notice.

Minju made her way over and joined Yuri, pushing her appa away to relax. (Y/n) came over to Chaewon instantly, pulling her into his embrace. The two girls were able to see a different sight of the two they never could have imagined. Chaewon herself didn't want to show such a scene but it was hard to hide it when (Y/n) was teasing her nonstop.

"Yah, go do that somewhere else. We're trying to cook here." Yuri said from her corner.

"I think it's cute, besides we never got to see this as kids. They owe us every embarrassing moment they can do." Minju said, hip bumping into her sister.

"At least they're not making out in front of us, that would be even— Yah! Get out right now." Yuri shouted as she watched the two supposed adults begin connecting lips in the back.

"Don't act like you and Yena are so pure." (Y/n) teased back.

(Y/n) only laughed before pulling Chaewon away with him and leaving the girls alone. Yuri let out a huff as she tried to burn the image out of mind with thoughts of Yena instead. Minju only laughed seeing how flushed up Yuri was from their parents acting like they were fresh lovers again.

"I'm happy for them. We pulled them back together, and now it's up to them to fix it themselves. And now I have a sister, someone I can rely on." Minju said, embracing the girl. A heartwarming moment for them both only for a realization hit them.

"Alright, let's hurry up and finish cooking unless you want another sibling." Both of them nearly threw up at the idea of what could be happening in the other room and rushed to throw everything into the boiling water.

With Chaewon
(Y/n) held onto her tightly, as if it would be their last time together. There was nothing he wanted more in this moment than this. The life he could've had, but it wasn't too late. Chaewon's head raised up from his chest, aligning to his level. She began pinching both cheeks, even softly slapping them. It was finally enough to break him out of his trance, pulling her hands away.

"You're not dreaming, and I know I'm not either. You can stop worrying now. I'm never going to let you go again." Chaewon promised, soothing his worries away. She pressed on and sealed her words with another lip to lip deal.

Just as it began to press on far more than just a small kiss, a cough in the corner stopped them. Chaewon hopped off his lap and turned towards the girl in the hallway. Yuri and Minju stood there, eyes covered from the sight of them.

"Are you two going to come eat or are you just going to eat each other instead?!" Yuri stomped off to save her sanity. Minju smiled only to rush away shortly after.

"How many times are we going to mentally scar them?" (Y/n) joked, laughing at Chaewon's reaction. "Until they move out, which will probably be soon if we keep doing this." The two agreed to limit themselves in front of their daughters.

"I almost forgot, here I meant to give this back to you... but now I—" Chaewon began saying as she reached over to her coat and pulled out their ring box. His eyes glistened from the sight of the box he once chose years ago.

Before Chaewon could say anything else, (Y/n) snatched it from her, making her jump a little. His hands moved faster than she could react and he immediately slipped her ring back on to her finger.

"I'm not taking it off this time, not until I die." Chaewon said, grabbing his hand as their rings aligned together. She couldn't stop smiling, just as the day when they both wore this ring.

"I love you Chaewon, I always have and will. Thank you for coming back to me." Chaewon held back her tears again, for the hundredth time today. "I love you (Y/n)... thank you for loving me, after all this time." (Y/n) joined in with her, biting back any tears and embraced on another.

Took me long enough, guess I've just been bored of my writing for a bit. Along with just being a bit busy in life and living my hobbies. There may be some grammar errors I'll fix later, I'm too tired as of uploading this.

Story initially sounded good to me but now it seems too rushed for me. I liked the setting at (Y/n)'s house towards the end with everyone together. But the ending is a little lackluster for me. Maybe more backstory would've been nice too but oh well, I'm too lazy for it.

Next: Idk again (We'll see whenever I upload again)
