Chae Seo-Jin

This chapter will be using the main plot of Melting Me Softly. I was pretty sad seeing how she wasn't going to be the main love interest. I felt pretty bad for her small role, and having another actress play her character. I know it was for plot reasons, but I didn't see why the main guy lost feelings for her, especially when she waited 20 years for him.

Two people stood in the room alone, rocking in place within the other person's hold. The woman's face was stained with tears while the man frantically wiped them away. On the ground was a pregnancy test and while the two should be happy in this moment, their lives were coming to a halt. Her husband had just broke the news to her, stating that he was going to be participating in an experiment. His team had finally cracked the method of cryonics, tests were already performed onto samples and creatures, now it was time to test it on humans. He volunteered, along with a couple others. Him and the following others would be frozen for 24 hours and tested on.

"Promise me you'll come back to me." She begged, her grip never loosening.

"I promise, for both you and our child. I'll wake up the next day and come running home into your arms. I will never stop until I find you again." (Y/n) promised.

Their anguish was washed away for a moment that night. The small hope and happiness that appeared was soon to be erased. The next day started with (Y/n) beginning his experiment while Seo-jin finalized the report for her show. The entire experiment was live and broadcasted to the whole world. It pained Seo-jin watching him step into that chamber, but she couldn't stop him anymore. It all went so well until a problem occurred, a meltdown happened in the midst of the experiment. It turned into a complete disaster and the participants were unable to be recovered.

For confidentiality, the experiment was done in a private location and only revealed to a few people. Those who knew also vanished along with the test subjects. The last thing that was seen live was explosions and gunfire going off in the lab. The whole world watched as their so called successful experiment was torn apart. The live feed went off soon after and there was no more connections to the experiment. Calls weren't answered and people had gone missing.

This story went viral, breaking and shocking the entire world. Seo-jin's career skyrocketed with her reports and ownership of the story. It was one of the few things that kept her from losing everything. It was also another reason why (Y/n) asked her to allow him to follow through with his experiment. He knew this would raise her reputation at the station, making her more successful.

Search parties and rescue units went out for months searching of any survivors. As any of them suspected, there were none to be found. This story soon became ancient history as time began to pass by. Seo-jin lost him that day, but gained more in return. Being his wife, she inherited his fortune, and with their child on the way, things weren't going to be easier for her.

Timeskip
(Y/n)'s eyes slammed open upon feeling his own body heating itself up. His pod had been opened and an alarm was sounding, but there was no one there to end it. He stumbled out, walking around before managing to end the sirens. As he collected his breath, he managed to access the situation. All the time that had passed was not the same for him. It had merely been a single day for (Y/n). He hadn't aged a second ever since that day.

He searched for his fellow professors and mentors but they were no where to be found. Also taking a look at his fellow participants who were deceased. Having no choice, he followed through with the procedure and fixed himself. After coming out of the cryonics, his body temperature had changed and he needed to get it back to normal. Luckily, he was apart of the crew who perfected the solution to restoring a test subject's temperature, he just needed to find where they had stored it. (Y/n) stumbled out into the surface afterwards, limping his way home. He made a promise he intended to keep.

Along the way, there were things that stood out to him immediately. The new world he was witnessing at first hand, the new technology and even the people. It wasn't until he saw a sign that listed the current date. It was there that he passed out in public. It had been 20 years since that day. He was rushed to the hospital, as people began to notice the weird things about him. His information dated his birth and listed him as old as 40 years, yet he was looking as young as a 20 year old. He recovered his strength before escaping the doting questions and rushing home. It had all changed so much but he knew his way home.

(Y/n) frantically knocked on the door, wanting to see nothing more than his lover's face. How was he going to explain himself? What has she even been doing for the past years? What if she was with someone else now?

"I'll be right there, give me a second!" A voice shouted from the inside. He couldn't make out the voice, sounding younger and nothing like Seo-jin's voice.

The door opened up after a few seconds, as (Y/n) saw her face. She hadn't changed one bit... how was this even possible? He could understand him not aging, but how was she able to prevent her own aging? He stood there speechless as she tried to get his attention.

"Hello? Are you in there? Who are you by the way?" She asked.

"S-Seo-jin?" He muttered out. Her face looked confused at the sound of the name, as she wasn't able to recognize him.

"Seo-jin? That's my mother's name, are you looking for her?" The girl spoke out, and before he could even muster out another word, she called for her mother. Another few seconds went by before another person walked up, and there it happened. The same connection they had the first time they met each other, that spark that ignites when their eyes met happened again.

She froze, not being able to move another step closer. They were so captivated neither of them could hear the younger one's questions. (Y/n) was the first to take a step forward, finally forcing her to come to her senses. He moved closer and closer until they were within grabbing distance. Seo-jin lunged at him, tackling him into a hug. She held onto him, as if her life depended on it. The only thing he could muster out were words of apologies.

"Do you have any idea how long it has been?! I have waited for years, hoping you would still show up someday. I never wanted to mourn your death because I knew you would never lie to me." She stopped him from admitting another apology.

"Do you still...?" He was about to ask but she showed him their wedding ring, still on her fingers. To prove it even further, she kissed him, something she hadn't felt for 20 years.

She pulled away as he was able to admire her changes. Seo-jin had aged, but it didn't mean a single thing. While 20 years passed for her, a single day had only passed for him. His love was the same as it was yesterday, and 20 years ago.

"How did you get even more beautiful...?" He asked, making her laugh. She missed his cheesiness, his compliments and praises of her beauty.

"You're still you... both mentally and physically." She happily said.

"Mom... who is he?" They both heard, as (Y/n)'s guilt grew larger with every passing second. They both turned to her before (Y/n) called out her name.

"Ha-young." He said, as she jumped at the sound of her own name. Seo-jin really did keep her promise. The both of them had already chose their child's name before she was even planned. Seo-jin wanted a son, (Y/n) wanted a daughter, so they both made a bet with the names.

"Ha-young, this is your father." (Y/n)'s heart only began to hurt more, seeing what he had caused.

"B-But you said dad was... how is he alive? How is he still so young?" Ha-young asked.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry for everything. I never meant for any of this to happen. I still don't know what happened... I was supposed to come home the next day." He told her, asking for her hand. She hesitated a bit before coming towards his grasps.

"You look just like your mother... I'm sorry for not being here the two of you. If I would've known the outcome of this, I never would have volunteered." He said, holding his daughter for the first time.

"Stop crying... I already hate myself enough. This is the first time I've ever held you. You've grown into such a beautiful young woman. I wish I could've seen you take every single one of those steps to get there." (Y/n) comforted his crying daughter.

"20 years... why did this have to happen to me? All I wanted was to come home to my family. You were right, I should have listened to you." Seo-jin joined the family hug, trying to hush (Y/n) up. She didn't care how he made it back to her, she wasn't going to take it for granted.

Night
(Y/n) spent the rest of the day catching up with his family. His wife and daughter shared memories that he never got to experience with them, while he and Seo-jin also shared memories of their past. Neither of the girls let go of him during it all, and soon enough Ha-young knocked out in his arms. (Y/n) tucked in his daughter before finally spending some time alone with Seo-jin. He couldn't make up the 20 years she lost, but he wasn't going to waste a single second with her now.

(Y/n) came back into Seo-jin's room, finding her sitting on the bed. He came up behind her, engulfing her in his arms again. It didn't last long as she stood up before pushing him down onto the bed. She climbed atop of him longing for his touch after all this time. (Y/n) didn't argue and followed her lead. During their entire love making session they tried their best to keep the noise down, hoping not to scar Ha-young immediately.

Seo-jin laid in his arms afterwards, resisting the urge to drift off into sleep. She didn't want the night to end, afraid this was still just a dream. And if it was one, she never wanted to wake up from it.

"I broke my promise didn't I? I said I would return in one day, yet it's been 20 years for you. How could such a tragedy happen to us Seo-jin?" He asked.

"You can make it up after, right now I'm just grateful that you're alive." She answered.

"I'm more grateful to you. Thank you for giving me everything I've ever wanted in life. Thank you for waiting for me... I know the 20 years I wasn't here was hard. I'm sorry you had our child alone, I wasn't here for you when you needed me most. I missed her entire childhood and she holds no memory of me until today. I promise I will make it right this time. I won't waste a moment with you or Ha-young." He vowed a new promise to her.

"Please spend more time with her then. She always asked about you when she was younger. I tried my best to paint your picture, but it wasn't enough for her to even know you." Seo-jin said.

"How am I going to break this to everyone else? Our friends and families... they must've mourned me too." He said, thinking of his parents.

"You're the only one who survived. Everyone who was involved with the experiment has died or gone missing. I feared for you life when I first heard those explosions... and when they started shooting, I thought you were going to die. I should've stopped you..." She told him.

"And I should've listened. I was wrong Seo-jin, and I'm sorry. I will never stop apologizing, because I cannot give us back the time we've lost together." She stopped him with a kiss before hushing him to sleep, asking for him to pause his apologies.

Epilogue
(Y/n)'s return shocked all those who once knew, friends and family altogether. Though it would be a challenge to hide his changes from the public, he didn't want to risk announcing his survival of cryonics. It could bring back the threat of those who attempted to end his life in the first place. (Y/n) took on a new identity for his own protection. While he did have to find a new career, money wasn't going to be a problem. Seo-jin had become the head of the news station, and his daughter was currently in her studies at a nearby university. All he needed to do was lay low and live his life. He also needed to make up for the time he lost. Every second was spent with his family, whether it was the three of them together or individually.

(Y/n) and Seo-jin refueled their never ending fire with dates and throwbacks to their past. With Ha-young, he tried to do the things he was never prepared for. Taking his daughter out for their alone time was harder than he'd anticipated. She wasn't some little girl who he could kneel down to and play with. She was the spitting image of her mother, yet she carried a bit of his attitude and traits. She was stubborn and childish at times, but she was still her mother's daughter.

He lost 20 years with Seo-jin, but he gained another 20 for Ha-young. Even if their departures will differ, not a single second from this point on will be wasted.

In my mind this story had much more potential. I lost a feeling for this chapter after writing for a few hours and this is how it turned out. I figured another happy and sweet chapter would be better. I could've taken longer and had more conflicts but I'm getting a bit lazy. Summer is creeping up and my job awaits me, even in the midst of all this.

Also, what else would you like to see from me? I'd like to expand my stories a little. (Q/A)'s, rants, my opinions on groups and idols? For those who care enough to even comment, then if you're interested just let me know.

Also, sorry about the long wait. My semester is over, so I'm finally free from all my classes. The only thing I learned this semester is that I want to die. I passed my classes, but it just makes me want to kill myself when my parents criticize my performance and grades. It's been only one year in college and I just can't imagine having to do more than 4 years of it. I passed everything and not a single congrats was given to me. I know I didn't live up to their standards but cut me some slack, give me a bit of appreciation, that's all I want. Is it so hard to tell me that I did an okay job? I really do hate my life sometimes. I am the eldest son, who is currently enrolled in a college, has a job, and is staying home. I don't drink, I don't smoke, and I don't commit crimes. Do I not deserve the smallest ounce of appreciation from my own parents? Everything I do, it's never enough. "Be more like your cousins." The classic asian standards, being compared to someone who is better than you. I really do want to die sometimes. Thanks for reading this rant if you bothered to. I just needed to write this down somewhere.
