Hoshi Jihoon

"Should we get a double stroller?"
"What for?" Hoshi questioned.
"What if these babies are twins."
"There is only one." Hoshi responded "My doctor confirmed to us earlier that there is only one baby inside of me."
"What if we have another baby-"
"We will talk about having another baby once this baby goes to school."
Hoshi huffed "I understand. What about this stroller?"
"Kwon Soonyoung." Warned Jihoon.
"What! It is a single stroller, I promise. Please just look at my phone."
Jihoon accepted the phone from Hoshi. He scrolled down while he read the reviews "Can we get it in a different color?" He requested.
"I like the color beige."
"I do too." Agreed Jihoon "Put it in your cart, when will it be delivered?"

"Hoshi! Hoshi, Kwon Soonyoung!"
"Are you okay Jihoon? Do I need to call your mom? I am ready."
Jihoon waved away Hoshi "No, we are okay. Someone is at the door."
"Then why are you not answering the door?"
"Excuse me? I got comfortable on the couch. And I was also asleep."
"Okay, okay." Hoshi agreed "What is at the door?"
"I am not sure, the package is still at the door."
"Did you Uber some food? I swear if you did."
"No, I did not. Although, can we order food tonight?"

Hoshi stands up. As he was walking towards the door he stopped to look at Jihoon "Get me whatever you are getting."

On their porch was a box, nothing to show except for their names and address "What is this?" He wondered.

"What was outside?"
Hoshi pulled the box to the center of the room "I am not sure. Let me get a knife."

Jihoon sits next to Hoshi as he slices open the tape. Unfolding the flaps, Jihoon gasps "It is finally here! Ooh look at it. Look, look!"
Using Hoshi to help Jihoon to his knees he pointed at the box "What is inside the box that has you excited?"
"It is the stroller! Look, and it's beige!"
Jihoon tugged on the stroller "I forgot we ordered that." Hoshi confesses.
"I do too." Jihoon nodded "Except for now. Wow. Are there instructions?"
"Why would there be instructions for a stroller?"
Jihoon glared at Hoshi "I was only asking. Besides. How hard can it actually be to understand a stroller?"
"Together we can figure out a stroller." Hoshi reassured.

Hoshi and Jihoon stare at the stroller on the floor.
"We will soon understand how to open up the stroller." Hoshi says "We still have time until you have this baby. Until then, we can continue to work on opening the stroller."
"Oh wait, what is this lever?" Jihoon questioned.
As he pulled on the lever, a red button popped up. Hoshi pushed the button.
"Aha! See, what did I tell you? I knew we could figure out this stroller." Beamed Hoshi.
Jihoon stretched out the stroller.
"Those on the tires are the brakes."
"How did you know that Hoshi?"
"I read it on the website. Only thing that I remember from the website." He confessed.
Jihoon hummed.

"Well how about we try out the stroller?" Hoshi recommended. Helping Jihoon to his feet, Hoshi sets a pillow in the stroller, acting as their baby.
Hoshi began to push the stroller "How do I look?" He asks. Jihoon claps his hands "You look like a hot dad." He whistles.
Hoshi bowed but blushed "Thank you. Okay, now let's see you."

Jihoon stares at the stroller:
"I can't do this." Cracked Jihoon. "This is too much, Hoshi, I am really not ready." He looked around the room, then back at the stroller.
"Hey, okay, do some deep breaths with me. This is a safe space."
Jihoon walks away from Hoshi "Do you not understand! Hoshi, I." He sits down against the wall.
Hoshi sits down next to Jihoon. He hugs Jihoon over one shoulder, his arm wrapped around his knees "Do not shut me out, please."
Jihoon looked up from his knees. "Sorry Soonyoung." He starts. He wipes his eyes with his hands "I guess it was a feeling of being overwhelmed." He wavered. "Seeing that stroller..Hoshi, this is really happening. In a few short months, our baby will be here. Depending on us, hoping that we can guide them to success. What if I forgot all that I have learned? I want this baby to be so smart, and empathetic, to be strong, to know that there is not always a right way to do something. They can be creative." Jihoon sniffled.
Hoshi holds Jihoons hand "I am sorry for not seeing these worried earlier. All of those feelings are warranted. However, remember you are not by yourself. That is why we have Google." Teases Hoshi.
Jihoon laughed out "Soonyoung."
Hoshi grips Jihoons hand into his "What if I set aside the stroller until the baby is actually here, and ready to take a ride?"
"But you worked hard on-"
"It does not matter what I did, or will be doing. If something is making you overwhelmed then it's my job to create a safe place. Now. Would you like me to put away the stroller?"
Jihoon nodded "Yes, please."
"Consider it done. Thank you for communicating what was troubling you. I could not know unless you explained it to me."
"Am I acting irrationally? It is only a stroller."
"No." Hoshi responded "If something is bothering you, then you need to speak up. Just like you did. I am so proud of you."

Jihoon sits in the rocking chair watching as Hoshi stashed the stroller in the nursery's closet "It is in the box, ready to be used when we are ready." 
"Thank you for taking my feelings into consideration Hoshi. I think before Ha-Joon is born, we should get comfortable with the stroller. What do you think?"
"I support you in what you think is best for you Jihoon." Comforted Hoshi. "When you are ready, I am also ready. We will take it as easy as you are comfortable. And slowly."
"Ha-Joon will love his stroller." Jihoon spoke.
"I bet he will." Added Hoshi.

"Hey Hoshi?"
"Yes Jihoon?"
Jihoon takes Hoshi's hand "Where are we going?"
He leads Hoshi into the nursery "Ha-Joon is coming sooner than we are expecting. I can feel it." Jihoon starts "So. I think it is about time that I get comfortable with his stroller."
"If you are sure."
Jihoon nods "It is time for me to know how to use something for our baby. This is the very last baby task of mine."
"Alright. I will open the box."

Hoshi sets the box in front of Jihoon "When you are ready." Hoshi encourages.
Jihoon shakes the box, freeing the stroller.
Jihoon releases the button, opening the stroller. Pulling down the lever, the stroller snapped into place.
"I think the stroller is ready for Ha-Joon. How do I look?"
Hoshi approached Jihoon "Everything that you do makes me smile. How are you feeling?"
"Not so overwhelmed. I feel better."
Hoshi stands behind Jihoon "All that wait was worth it. Now Ha-Joon, we have your stroller ready for arrival."
"Have you thought how it will be once he is actually born? And is riding in his stroller?" Hoshi whispers. "I have a little." Answered Jihoon rubs his bump "I will show you all my favorite spots once you are here Ha-Joon. Maybe the pond full of ducks will be there with their own babies so I can show off my own baby."
"We will definitely go when the ducks are out on the ponds. I think Ha-Joon will enjoy seeing the ducks too."
"Or maybe we can do the petting zoo! Babies enjoy looking at the animals."

Jihoon positioned Ha-Joon into the stroller "Hi handsome boy." He greeted. In return, Ha-Joon laughed "You are a happy baby."
"Is my happy family ready to see ducks?"
Hoshi kisses Jihoon first then bends down to Ha-Joon, also kissing their baby.
"Yes we are all packed and ready for our adventures day ahead of us."
"Okay then, if we are ready. Let's go!"

Hoshi watched as Jihoon pushed the stroller. He fussed over Ha-Joon. Explaining to the baby where they were, and what the flowers would look like once they were fully bloomed. Once the sun went directly over them, Jihoon lifted up the screen protector over Ha-Joon. As he continued to walk, the baby fell asleep.

"We should go home." Jihoon says. "I agree." Nodded Hoshi "You did a wonderful job today. I know he will be so smart because of all what he learned today."
"Sorry, I was rambling." Muttered Jihoon.
"No apologies." Hoshi replied "It was endearing. Plus, watching you push the stroller, total dad status. Hottest dad I have ever seen."
Jihoon blushed "You be quiet! There are people around."
Hoshi laughed "Then what happens next will be our secret Jihoon."
