Jungyeon (Twice)

GirlxGirl

I sat alone in the cafe booth waiting for my order to be called. Once it was, I walked over to the counter to see someone different from whom I originally told my order to. Before me was a tall, cute girl with short brown hair. When she saw me she smiled and slid the tray across the counter. I smiled back and grabbed it, thanking her as I went to sit down. When I got back to me table I noticed that I was missing a fork for my cake. Before I stood up, the girl from the counter was making her way over to me, holding up a fork.

"I forgot something!" She called.

Before the fork could even graze my fingertips, the girl tripped over her own feet and fell to the floor, the ting sound from the utensil echoing loudly throughout the room before it fell silent. I stifled a laughed and immediately went to help her up.

"A little klutzy are we? Are you okay?" I asked.

She quickly stood up and dusted herself off.

"Me? Yeah, I'm fine," She said, her rosy cheeks just getting brighter. "I'll go get you a new fork," She said nervously.

I chuckled as she repeatedly apologized and went to get me a fork that hadn't fallen on the floor. I went and sat back down. Eventually the girl came back with a fork, this time neatly wrapped in a napkin. She softly set it down on the table, avoiding eye contact with me. I smiled.

"Thank you," I trailed off and looked at her name tag. "Jungyeon," I finished.

The girl smiled nervously and waved her hand.

"No problem. Just call me if you need anything. I mean like call my name! Not like call me on the phone," She chuckled nervously. "I mean unless you want to," She said quickly.

I smirked and raised an eyebrow at her. Her eyes widened.

"Um, yeah, I'll just go."

With that, she left. I stared after her and watched as she mentally beat herself up and hit her palms against her temples. I giggled and went to grab my fork. I unwrapped the napkin and set it down. As I was taking a bite of my cake, I saw some writing in the napkin. I picked it back up and it was a number next to the words 'Call me, I mean if you want to.' I laughed. She writes just like how she talks. It's kind of cute.

I instantly took out my phone and dialed the number. I didn't call, but I texted.

'Hey, Jungyeon?'

A minute later, my phone dinged. I looked over at the counter but she must've been in the back.

'Yes, who's this?'

I could practically hear her nervous voice.

'The girl you brought the fork to.'

'Oh, I didn't expect you to text while you were still here. I thought you would've waited until you left.'

'Well I wanted to keep talking to you while I was still here. Are you busy?'

'No. As you can see today is kind of slow.'

'Come here.'

It was about two minutes and I hadn't received a text. I sighed and took a sip of my now lukewarm tea. I made a face and set it back down.

"Your tea must be cold by now. Would you like me to bring you another cup?"

I looked up at Jungyeon who was smiling down at me.

"Sure, that'd be nice."

She took my old tea and went back to make me a fresh cup. I waited patiently for her to come back and when she did, she set my cup down and sat across from me. Her hair masked her face as she looked down, fiddling with her fingers.

"How long have you need working here? I've never seen you before," I said.

She looked up. "About two weeks,"

"Oh, maybe I was just never here during your shift," I said, laughing. "My name is (y/n), by the way."

"I'm Jung- well you already know, Jungyeon," She said, laughing.

"When is your shift over?" I asked.

"Not for another two hours," She said.

"Well I'll come back in two hours and we can hang out, is that okay?"

She tried to hide her smile. "Yeah, that's cool."

I finished my cake and tea, said goodbye to Jungyeon, then left. I had a quick shopping date with my mom that day, so I killed two hours with her, then went back to the cafe. I waited outside as Jungyeon hung up her apron. She saw me through the window and waved before coming out.

"Hi," She said.

"Hey, I was thinking we could go to the park."

"Yeah, that sounds fun."

We made small talk as we walked to the park. The nearest one had a playground and since it was getting dark, there were no kids there. When we got there, Jungyeon gasped.

"Swings! Do you want to swing?"

I nodded and she started running. I went to run after her but I tripped over a rock.

"Ow!"

Jungyeon turned around and stifled a laugh.

"Who's the klutzy one now?" She asked.

"Oh hush," I said laughing. She helped me up but I twisted my ankle and couldn't walk.

"Get on," She turned around and bent her knees.

"Are you sure?"

She nodded and motioned me to get on her back.

"Well okay."

I put my hands on her shoulders and used my strength to hop on her back. She carried me to a bench and sat me down.

"Does it hurt badly?" She asked.

"No. I'll be fine. I just need to sit here for a little bit," I said. "Sorry to ruin your swing time."

"It's fine."

We had talked for what seemed like hours. We laughed, and even though we just met, we felt like we've known each other for a long time and we shared some things we never told anyone. This made us already feel closer. The sun had set completely by now and the moon and stars were out. Our bench was under a light post so we could still see each other.

"It's getting late," She said.

"Yeah."

"When can we hang out like this again?" She asked.

"How about tomorrow? Same time, same place," I suggested.

"Yeah, I'm free."

We both stood up. My know my ankle was better and I could walk.

"So, I'll see you tomorrow," She said.

"Yeah, see you tomorrow."

She gave me one last smile before walked in the opposite directed I needed. So I watched her until I couldn't see her anymore then started walking my way. I went through my phone and looked at her contact. Jungyeon, with a little heart next to it. Little did it know, she did the same thing to my name in her phone.
