Chapter 6

Manami's POV

"WHAT WAS THAT!?!" the group yelled.

"Don't worry about the fire spreading, Fire Magic doesn't burn what you don't want it too. At least that's the saying, hope they were telling the truth." I said with a shrug motioning for the blonde guy to start cooking the meat. He seemed unphased by the tress and quickly obliged and started putting the meat over the fire.

"Come on y'all. Fire Dragon Slayer Magic makes me really hungry."

--

I filled in the blonds guy --who turned out to be the Yellow Dragon--, Yona, and Yoon about Fiore and the magic system. The same things I had said to the rest of the group. They understood to a point, but they still couldn't wrap their head around my magic.

Best not use it too often...

"Wow! Zeno wants to go to Fiore and see the magic!" Zeno chirped with a smile as he grabbed for another piece of meat.

"It does sound interesting. It's nice to know someone so powerful is on our side." Yona said with a soft smile. I grinned scratching the back of my head.

"Well, that's enough about me. Zeno, you're a dragon warrior, right? You don't seem very dragony. Like, you seem very normal. What's your dragon power?" I questioned.

"Power..."

Zeno stared blankly for a minute.

"Ah! Zeno isn't very powerful, but my body is sturdy!" He cheered, throwing his hands into the air. I couldn't help but smile, the kind of smile when you see a cute little kid.

"How sturdy are you?" Hak punched Zeno in the face as he chewed on the meat. I gaped.

Boy, I-

Zeno flew back and held his cheek in his had trembling looking very not-sturdy.

"Oh... Did that hurt you?!" Hak said confused.

"Your body is weak! You're just a regular person! Are you really the Yellow Dragon?" Yoon accused while pointing a finger.

"Yeah. You don't seem very sturdy to me." I said tilting my head.

"NO! No, he's just weird! The strength his arm has is outrageous!" Zeno defended himself as he pointed his finger. Yoon walked over and held Zeno's arm poking it.

"Your body isn't particularly tough. Your skin is squishy."

"Zeno's skin is smooth. It gets dirty sometimes, though." Zeno said proudly with a smile.

"The Thunder Beast's body is rock solid I'd be convinced if he claimed he was the Yellow Dragon," Yoon said.

"I have kept quiet until now, but I am actually the Yellow Dragon," Hak said seriously. I giggled.

"If you were a dragon, you would be the Evil Dark Dragon!!" Kija yelled. Hak thought about it for a second before grinning.

"Oh my gosh. You totally think that sounds cool, don't you?" I laughed. Kija went on about how terrifying Hak was and something about dragon pride to Zeno.

--

"Since all the dragons have all gathered, we're going to Iksoo to hear what he has to say about what we're going to do," Yoon announced.

"Who's Iksoo?" I asked curiously.

"He's a clumsy priest," Hak said bluntly. I nodded my head before becoming confused again.

"So why are we seeing him?"

"He's the one who told us that Yona was the reincarnation of the Red Dragon and said to gather the dragons," Hak explained. I nodded my head slowly before becoming confused again.

"And y'all just believed him? No questions asked?"

"Pretty much." Hak shrugged. I smiled.

That's how all the fun adventures start. No questions asked.

We continued to walk. Thanks to our motion sickness Natsu and I rarely rode trains and walked everywhere. But, I didn't walk too much. I was lazy I didn't like walking around as much.

Natsu would always give me piggyback rides. Or I would somehow convince both him and me that we should take a train. Then immediately regret my decision as Happy would only say, "I told you so".

I smiled fondly reminiscing some of our older adventures. How we always ended up following outrages tips about where to find Igneel and small mission to earn the money to be able to do so.

I frowned.

Why do I have to reminisce? If I think about it like that, it makes it seem like I'll never see them again.

"Manami-chan!" Zeno chirped snapping me out of my thoughts. I turned to him with a smile.

"Zeno is curious about you!" He said with a smile.

"Really? What about?" I asked with a grin.

"Fairy Tail! What's it like being in a guild with all mages?" He asked. I thought about it smiling fondly as I thought of all my fellow guild members.

"Fairy Tail is..." I stopped, I had never sat down and thought about it. I looked up at the sky.

"... being part of an irreplaceable, precious family. Where you get to follow what you believe and be yourself." I said with a grin.

"That's what makes fairy tail #1!" I yelled pointing the sky the way we always did. Zeno cheered with my pointing the same way.

"Zeno thinks that sound fun. Is pointing like this also a Fairy Tail thing?"

I nodded.

"This means, "Even if I can't see you, no matter how far away you may be, I will always be watching you."

Suddenly I felt at ease. I knew that no matter where I was I was still a member of Fairy Tail and that the guild members would be thinking of me and looking out for me.

I smiled staring down at the hand sign.

Zeno simply smiled at me but I could see the look behind his eyes. The flash of wiseness behind his eyes.

There was more to him then he let on.

"Thanks," I muttered to him embarrassedly.

It must have been obvious that I was feeling down.

I pranced up to Yona with a smile.

"Yona-chan! Wait... Can I call you that?" Yona smiled at me softly.

"Yona-chan it's time to spill the tea. Tell me why you're gathering the dragons. It doesn't seem like you're doing this just because of a prophecy." I quirked an eyebrow. Yona seemed to deflate slightly.

"The Kouka kingdom was ruled by my father..." Yona started, as soon as she started I knew.

Killed.

I frowned.

"He was assassinated by my cousin. He framed Hak and I, making us fugitives. The kingdom thinks were dead and so did the king. Not anymore though." Yona continued somberly.

I thought back to how after the celebration how Yona was acting off.

"You ran into him, didn't you?" I whispered. She nodded.

"By gathering the dragon warriors I hope I will be able to protect the people of Kouka." She looked forward with a strong gaze. I felt the fire in her eyes.

I began to realize that behind Yona's soft, cute exterior was a strong, passionate leader.

I stayed from the sad topic and asked about Hak. She explained that they had known each other since they were young. That he was always protecting her.

I looked at her and then at Hak. Then at her again and back at Hak. Then again. I smirked.

"Soooo... You and Hak then, huh?" I wiggled my eyebrows at her. Her face blushed as she became embarrassed.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about!" She stuttered out flustered. I laughed at her.

"Oh my God! You are totally into him!" I teased poking her shoulder. Yona stuttered out nonsense as she tried to make up something.

Before I could tease her anymore Yoon announced that we had arrived at Iksoo's place.

We had our way over to a small straw house.

"What is this!?"

Yona gasped as we all entered the house we saw the belongings scattered everywhere and a man laying on the floor.

"Iksoo! What happened?! What it thieves!?" Yoon yelled running over to the priests who was collapsed on the ground.

"I-I was so hungry that I knocked everything over."

--

"Whew! I narrowly escaped death!" Iksoo beamed at Yoon thankfully. Yoon began to scold the priest angry, but he only seemed happy to hear him talking.  I placed the books on the ground back on the bookshelf.

"You really lived with this guy? You seem so different." I muttered more to myself than to Yoon.

"Even as a kid, I was the one who had to babysit him." Yoon sighed.  Iksoo looked around, at least I assumed, his hair covered his eyes.

"It's become so lively... It looks like the princess has gone through a lot of experiences too." He said with a smile and a satisfied look on his face.

"Iksoo. The four dragons are assembled." Yoon announced.

And a Dragon Slayer!

I added that part in my mind.

"What are the sword and shield that protects the king? Is the "king" Yona? Or is it the current king Soo-won? It seems the sword and the shield meant to protect the king both need a little more time to appear. When the time comes you'll definitely know." Iksoo said cryptically. I tilted my head in confusion. The rest of the group nodded their head as if analyzing the wise words of an old man.

Are we really gonna belive the guy who almost died trying to make breakfast?!

"Why are you all avoiding the real issue at hand? Miss, what did you want to gather the four dragons for? You and that guy over there were kicked out of the castle, so it's understandable if you need the power to fight." Zeno said as he held Aoi in his hands gingerly.

"It was to survive," Yona answered.

"But then what? Are you going to run away forever?" Zeno pressed.

"... No." I could see that Yona was beginning to become unsure of herself.

"Then... Are you thinking of overthrowing Soo-won who stole the title of the king to take back the castle and the throne?" Zeno said looking at Yona. Yona's face went dark.

"That's impossible no matter how many dragons we have, we can't attack the castle with this many people!" Yoon said.

Yes, you can! You have me!

I wanted to say. I could see how serious the situation was so I decided to stay quiet.

"It's not whether we can or can't/ It's whether we want to or not. Besides if we four dragons use our powers seriously it won't be impossible for us to take down one castle."

A silence hung in the air. I gulped. I felt extremely out of place.

"But Zeno doesn't have that kind of power anyway. the newbie is sorry. Zeno wasn't suggesting we dot that. It was just a simple question about what we're going to do!"

--

The rest of the group was preparing for dinner. I sat on the roof of the small hay house looking at the sky thinking back to the conversation the group had.

A castle. A kingdom. A king. A throne. Warriors.

Just thinking about it made my head spin.

"It was just a simple question about what we're going to do!"

It made me think.

What am I really doing here? I don't get politics or anything political at all. I just want to go home. For some reason, I feel like this group of dragon warriors is the best shot I got.

What if I'm nothing more than a burden? I'm choosing a side my staying with these people. What they're talking about is like freakin war!!! Am I really ready to side with them?

It doesn't matter if I could literally demolish the whole kingdom's army with my eyes closed if I'm doing it for no reason. Am I butting into business that I'm not supposed to? They just seemed like a fun group at first. I liked fighting beside them. I love a good adventure. Yona is so sweet and... and...

And I don't belong.

Never had I felt so out of place. I felt like the useless side-character trying to be a part of the group of main characters. I didn't belong.

I groaned laying on the roof.

"THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING! ARGHHHHHHHH." I covered my eyes with my forearm.

Onii-chan, what are you doing right now? Are you missing me the same way I'm missing you?

I heard someone land on the roof next to me.

"What are you doing up here?"

"I don't know... Thinking is hard." I muttered to Jaeha with a groan. We sat in silence.

He must feel bad for me. That's why he came up here.

"You don't have to keep me company, you know..." I muttered sitting up and turning to JaeHa with feeling guilty.

"Are you kidding? I was trying to get away from the others." He said with a light tone of voice. I turned to meet his eyes examining him.

"Tch... Liar..."

It was so obvious that he was trying to make me feel better. But he didn't even understand why I was upset.

I brought my knees to my chest and looked at the ground.

What would Oni-chan do?

I liked Oni-chan's personality. It was like he never had a care in the world. I envy him. If I was more like him I probably wouldn't be struggling as much as I am now.

I sighed biting my lip to hold back tears.

"Manami, don't be like that. What's making the fallen angel feel bad~" JaeHa teased slightly as he sat next to me. I grinned slightly, remembering how he had caught me falling from the sky.

"I don't know what I'm doing here anymore... You guys seem to be fighting for this big thing that I don't understand. I shouldn't be here." I muttered quietly feeling embarrassed.

"We're going to help you find... Igneel, was it?"

"You're right! It's no use mobbing like this! I'm going to find Igneel!" I cheered standing up before immediately sitting back down with a frown.

"At least that's what Oni-chan would say," I muttered.

"Let's stop with the bullshit... We all know that I'm not going to find him here." My voice faded as my throat became dry.

"You miss Fiore."

I bit my lip harder as I nodded my head quickly.

"I'm not crying!" I shouted loudly as I rubbed my eyes quickly.

"My eyes are just sweaty..." I muttered. JaeHa chuckled.

He held up his hand and I glanced at it confused. It reminded me on the short conversation Zeno and I had.

I felt at ease again.

You're thinking too much Manami... Don't worry so much! Something tells me you're going to be just fine.

"Is this not the time for a high-five..?" JaeHa said flustered.

I couldn't help but laugh. I high-fived JaeHa enthusiastically.

"Not really the right time for a high-five, but you're improving."

WOOOWWWWW! YALL I DIDN'T KNOW SO MANY PEOPLE WOULD LIKE THIS STORY!! I'm glad it's getting so much attention! I'm working hard to write. Sorry, a lot of the Yona of The Dawn Manga chapters are political drama-y so there's a lot of dialogue and stuff but we're just getting started okay!

I'm trying to stray away from the manga scenes just because there is so much talking and stuff.

Also, I'm not planning on any romantic relationships or anything because Manami's like... 14... (Unless someone really, really wants it) I'm more focused on her friendships and how she changes without Natsu by her side.

But, as always, I'm open to all feedback and love to hear from everyone and anyone.

So, make sure to Vote, List, and Share.
