#6_Hello New York City!
Eleven year old Sophie Foster was walking along the streets of New York City with her little adoptive sister, ten year old Shadowflame Foster. She was silently victorious about the fact she was, for once, taller than Shadowflame. Even if only by two inches. But she knew that victory would be short lived as Shadowflame's growth spurt had come late and that would out do her usual growth spurts.
The blonde was wearing a pair of dark blue jeans and a black T-shirt with 'EAST COAST' printed in white across the front and a pair of black shoes. Meanwhile, the girl beside her was wearing a pair of blue shorts that looked ripped and a white tank top with the words 'WEST COAST' printed across the front and a pair of shoes that were the same as Sophie's, only brown in color. The brunette also had a bright blue polaroid camera in a powder blue polaroid camera bag slung over one arm and her dark brown emergency satchel slung over the other.
They didn't know how long they had been walking, but they found themselves walking on a bridge near a beach. They sat down to rest a little before they went back to the hotel the family was staying in. They somehow managed to convince their parents to allow them to stay in a separate room from them with Amy.
Shadowflame suddenly got up and talked to a middle aged couple, handed them her camera and ran back to the bench. "Wha-"
"C'mon Moonlark! Smile for the camera!" They were still facing each other when the light from the camera flashed. "Thanks!" Shadowflame chirped after she collected the polaroid back from the couple.
"Why did you do that?! The picture must look horrible!" Sophie cried "Nah, look!" She showed her the picture the camera had spat out. It was beautiful despite the fact that you couldn't see their faces. (It is the picture above, ps. it is not mine) "Wow, the magic of photography. Just wow." Sophie breath out. Shadowflame took out a black marker and wrote something down on the picture "It looks better like this doesn't it?" She had written '#Hello New York City' "You bet sister!" They then raced back to the hotel, laughing.
That night, there was a black out throughout the city. Their parents were still sound asleep as they were heavy sleepers. After much persuasion from Shadowflame, the three sisters snuck out onto the roof. "Are you sure this is a wise decision?" Amy asked Shadowflame nervously, "I have never made a wise decision in my life and never will." Shadowflame chirped. This earn her a double wack on the head from Sophie and Amy but she just laughed.
They finally reached the top of the stairs. Sophie tried the door but it was locked. Shadowflame then gently pushed her aside and picked the lock open with a pin she took from Amy's hair. When she opened the door to the roof, they were met with a breathtaking sight. A gentle breeze lifted their hair every now and then. The sky was dotted with billions of stars like diamonds scattered on a piece of black fabric, the moon was a beautiful creamy white. "Wow," was all they were capable of saying as sliver brimmed their eyes. After some time Sophie broke the silence "The stars are beautiful."
"You know what else is beautiful?" Shadowflame asked.
"What?"
"Me." The two other sisters just sighed as Shadowflame laughed, but they soon joined in. It was a night to remember.
