Spring Ball Chapter

By: (@8gtberry, @Emmie_SkyHeart @-watermella- @harper-bxth- @-CANOODLE @XxOneMoreChapterxX @-livv-)Jolie POV:

Jolie was very, very late.

It was hardly an overstatement. She arrived halfway through the ball- and was certain everyone could see that.

She hadn't wanted to come at all- but Bronte had insisted. He'd even bought her a dress.

Made of pure white satin, it was a dress with a lavender tulle skirt that was embroidered with little white pearls and a e. It reached just below her ankles, which allowed the low white pearl heels he'd also chosen for her to stand out. Before she'd left, he'd done up her hair in a , sprigs of l tucked throughout.

She felt gorgeous, even if her heart was a little heavy. Edaline had even stopped by to give Jolie some of her mother's old jewelry- pearl earrings and a simple necklace with a little bottle with lavender in it.

She glanced around the room. There were people she knew, and people she didn't. None of them mattered to her anyways.

Jolie walked lightly, stopping at the refreshment table to pour herself some juice. She leaned against a wall, sipping at it.

Part of her hoped someone- anyone, really- would ask her to dance. That wish was luckily fulfilled, as a pretty redhead made their way through the crowd to Jolie.

"Hey!" They smiled. "Care to dance?"

Jolie bit her lip before smiling back, "Sure."

Soon enough the two of them were chatting and laughing while they danced. Jolie learned that the person's name was Talli, and they were agender, preferring they/them pronouns.

"I saw you looking at that guy earlier." Talli said. "Aiden, right? Total heartthrob."

Jolie laughed. "Yeah, that's true. We sort of dated for a while...but he's scared of me now."

Talli raised an eyebrow, "Scared? Of you?"

"I'm a lot scarier than I look." Jolie said teasingly.

"I heard you're a mesmer." Talli commented, "And a pyrokinetic."

"Both truths."

"Lucky you. You must be one of those special kids people have been talking about."

Jolie sighed. "Also a truth."

"I'm only a froster." Talli said, letting her hands turn cold. Jolie shivered a bit, but her smile was back again.

"He's looking at you." they whispered.

"-Who?" Jolie asked.

"Aiden. Who else?" Talli smirked a bit. "I'll let you go dance with him."

"What? No. What am I supposed to say to him?"

Talli winked. "You'll think of something." they flitted away with the grace of a fairy.

And then there was Aiden. He stood in front of her for a moment, before blurting out. "You look beautiful today."

Another memory bubbled up. Not so long ago he'd said nearly the exact same thing.

"Only today?" Jolie had said it before with all the playfulness and flirtiness a girl like her could muster. But today there was more of a question to it. More of a sweetness.

"Jolie." Aiden murmured. "May I have this dance?"

Jolie thought for a long moment. "Only if you answer a few questions."

"Like what?"

"Like...why are you scared of me? And why did you think you could treat me like this?"

Aiden closed his eyes. "It was stupid of me, but...I was worried you would end up like your dad."

Your dad.

"Brant...my father was a good man before he died. He was a man in love, someone who went too far because of injustice. Because of people treating him like how you have been treating me."

"I...never thought about it like that before."

"But you're thinking about it now?" Jolie asked softly.

"Yes. I am."

Jolie swayed softly as another song came on- the same song that had played when they had first kissed.

Dreaming about the day you wake up and find

That what you've been looking for has been here the whole time.

"It..will be a while before I can actually..before this will feel real again." Jolie continued. "But for now..."

"This is perfect." Aiden finished.

And so some sort of broken heart was healed in some sort of way- and everything was perfect. In some sort of way.

Neil POV:

Neil was heartbroken. Not the kind of heartbroken that comes from a rejection. Not the kind of heartbroken that comes from a death.

The kind of heartbroken that comes from a lie.

And Emmie seemed perfectly fine. More than fine, even.

Neil didn't bother going to the ball. He stayed at home with Elwin, who had made him a cup of tea and told him all about all his failed relationships. It helped a bit.

He was feeling good enough after the cup of tea that he decided to try to go to the ball. Maybe, just maybe...

Neil wished he had never left the house. Because what he saw was something that cracked his heart for the second time.

Emmie, looking beautiful and pristine, dancing with...Jacob. He closed his eyes to suppress the tears that he knew would fall, and gave her a sad nod before fleeing the room, leaving behind the only girl he'd ever felt...anything...for.

Livvy POV:

I was probably the most unprepared girl that was going to the dance. I got asked to the dance 3 hours ago which gave barely enough time to get ready. First I went to my Grandma's dress shop and got this lovely A-Line V Neck royal blue dress. Josh hinted at getting something to match a royal blue tie so I got the same colour. Then we went to Biana's Salon and got my nails and hair done. I did it all with my best friend Chiara, we were going to do it with Emmie too, but then something happened the other day.

She cheated on Neil, one of my best ships has failed. I'm not mad at Emmie. She's one of my best friends and I couldn't bear to live without her but everyone isn't talking to her. She kissed Jacob, Neil's sister, Mina, best friend. I'm just worried for Neil he's being quieter than usual, I don't think he's even coming to the dance. Even with all that drama, tonight is going to be perfect, nothing can ruin this night.

RINGG

It's him! I ran to the door before anyone else got it, yet of course my sister got to it first. Stella, my younger sister. She's in Level 1 and she is literally the freaking devil. She also had some pretty annoying friends over this year.
"Hiya Josh!" she says perkily. Weird. "Hey Stella, you look nice." He comments, she giggles. Ewh, she likes Josh. "I get it, he's cute, but he's mine. Get your own Charming and get out of here." I say, annoyed. Almost as if I wanted to kill her. "Sheesh, Josh you got any siblings that share your extremely hottish looks?" "STELLA!"

She bursts out laughing and runs down the hallway.

Hydra POV:

I changed into my dress. It had a periwinkle blue tulle skirt, and a bodice encrusted with diamonds. I borrowed mom's silver eyeliner and lipstick. I walked down the stairs and found Yuna, Ignis, Emmie, Molly, Lea, Will, and Ivy downstairs. Ivy was wearing a red lace dress and she was standing next to Will, a pleased smile plastered onto her face.

"Are you feeling better?" I asked Yuna. She nodded.

Ignis looked kind of green. "Um, do you need a....bag?" I asked.

"Wh-what?" He said.

Lea snorted. "To vomit in, idiot."

She was standing next to Molly, her light coils of hair tied into a primpy bun. I smiled. The group of us walk outside and light leap to foxfire.

What I see might be the most beautiful thing ever. The dance is inside the gym, but the outside of Foxfire is clustered with starstruck couples and friends. The late afternoon sky is lit up by fireworks, illuminating our faces in a silvery light.

"Emmie!" Said Jacob. Emmie walked over to him, a flush painted across her face. Then she noticed Neil. Her flush turns into a pale sheen. He nodded at her, a sad smile on his face. Emmie turned red.

"Hey." Said Caden. He has a light blue suit on, and his hands are stuck awkwardly into his pockets. I smiled. "Hi." I said. "Wanna...go inside?" He said. I nodded, lost for words as we walked in. We both had matching light blue masks that twinkled in the glittering lights inside the gym. Balloons were strung across the walls and confetti popped in my face at least eight times.

Ocean made her grand entrance with her sisters. She was wearing a sleeveless golden dress with a teardrop effect at the skirt, filled with long golden strings. Star was wearing a silver dress with short puffed sleeves and a high-low skirt. Lastly, Avery was wearing a long flowy black dress with a red leather jacket and gold spikes at the arms. "Hi Caden, how are you?" Said Ocean, her gold marks twinkling in the light. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

"Awesome as always, and feeling like a star." He said, referring to the glowing star light that's shining overhead of him. I laughed at the same time as Ocean and she turned to me. "Oh, hi Hydra, are you gonna go meet your date?" I looked at her, wanting to call her an idiot, but restraining because she was my cousin.

She noticed my expression and covered her mouth. "Oh no, do you not have a date! I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have said that!" She looked genuinely guilty, which made me want to slap my forehead. "No I do have a date, he's-" I started before an annoyingly loud and sappy slow song came on. "Want to dance?" Said Ocean. Shoot. I looked at Caden. "HI OCEAN, THERE'S SOME ROMANCE DRAMA OVER THERE, COME WITH ME!!!" Said Emmie, grabbing Ocean's arm. "Oh!" She said, perking up. Caden turned to me. "Want to dance?" He said, offering his hand. Maybe this dance wouldn't be so bad after all.

Fayla POV:

Ugh, a dance, I didn't want to go but my sister was going and I had to with her. "Fayla, you look elegant, now don't cause a commotion or scream at the school ok?" Mom says in a very serious tone of voice. "I know, I know" I sigh, why do I even have to go. I was wearing a light purple dress and had a black headband on my hair. My hair was naturally wavy so I just brushed it. I leaped to the school with Freya and walked through the door with her by my side before my mother and father could bother me anymore.

The dance was lame. But they did have a game section. I head over to the group and see a few kids I saw on my first day. Yuna or Luna was her name, Daffy, Ari, and of course Damian. "Well, well, lookie here, Fayla decided to come tonight." Damian said smirking while I sat down next to him. "Yeah, yeah, don't make a big deal out of it, my mom forced me to go"

They were playing spin the bottle, which in my opinion should be illegal. Imagine kissing a random dude or girl that you didn't even know? Disgusting. "Fayla it's your turn" Someone said as he motioned to the bottle "Oh no thanks, I'm good." "Oh come on! Just do one. Unless you're scared." A girl told me with a wicked grin on her face. I wanted to prove her wrong, no I wasn't scared. I spin the bottle and use my telekinesis to spin harder and smack her right in the face. Bullseye! It hit her right in the middle of her face. I was surprised. "Well that wasn't planned!" I say hiding my smile, but it was planned. She scowled at me and threw the bottle at me. I ducked and it landed on the ground of the dance floor, shattered. Whoever stepped on that next was gonna get a little surprised. Damian whispered to me, "Nice aim, Vacker." Then he put on a neutral face and played truth or dare. That bottle face hitting was the highlight of my night.

There was a dance and everyone went on the dance floor. I stayed behind since I don't dance. Freya went over to me and sighed. "I met a boy, his name is James. He's so kind and funny" She smiled thinking of him. My sister was shot with a cupid's arrow I guess. "Wow, good for you!" I exclaim with a smile on my face, I only really and truly smile for my sister. I'm happy that she's happy. "Fay, who's that guy you were talking to recently?" She gives me a playful nugge. "His name is Damian, he's supposed to be showing me around at school." "He's kinda cute, but too young for me, just right for youuuu '' She sings the 'you'. I laugh. "He's not my type, plus he's got a long line of girls that like him" I shrug, I skip over the part that I blushed the other day but what she doesn't know doesnt kill right? "If you say so '' Freya says unconvinced, leaving me to think about what we just talked about

Yuna POV:

If someone asked me "Are you popular?" I wouldn't know what to say. My mom always said, be nice to everyone and they'll be nice back, but a lot of hate comes with popularity. People assume I'm a double-crossing boyfriend stealing snob who looks down on unpopular or talentless folk. Rumors spread like wildfire and being well-known means you're the subject to a lot of nasty looks and gossip. A few months ago I would've been looking forward to this event, childishly hoping someone like Ignis would ask me and I could even have my first kiss. Of course, wishes change.

I couldn't stop thinking about Ignis, how he stepped away from Annabel like he had no choice. It didn't make sense. Everyone knew Annabel was unmanifested, but maybe that was a lie. Foxfire was in serious danger, and not just from Annabel's toxicity, which was already a large enough problem. "Yunie, don't you want to see your dress? It's in your favorite color!" Oralie said. I smiled weakly. Daffy already looked like a fairy princess with long pretty hair covering her oval-shaped face. I always took after my mother more, with a round face, long sunny blond curls and large glassy eyes. People always complimented me, saying I was so lucky to be blessed with beautiful looks. I never understood.

Why should that be my biggest asset, why did people only think I was good because of my appearance? The dress had a pink corset and long skirt, with a flirty opening in the middle and a V-neck. It was the perfect mix of princess and badass. I loved it.

The mask to go with it was pink, gold and black, with rose petals creating a lovely effect. "It's beautiful." I said, smiling from head to toe.

"Are you feeling better?" Hydra asked me, as we stood in front of Foxfire. I nodded and fiddled with a strand of my hair. Stella stood by Ignis, smiling like a seductive cat. Her tight dress fit her curves perfectly and was an elegant shade of red wine. I bit back a rise of jealousy as I noticed her brown hair in tight braided coils. "Yuna." Ignis said, walking over to me. "Any news on Annabel?" I asked. Ignis frowned and shook his head. "Speak of the devil." I breathed. Her hair was down and more beautiful than ever. She wore a purple starry night sky dress and ornate silver heels. "Didn't you tell Mrs and Mr. Redek about her!?" I screeched.

"I tried to, but there was no evidence it was her." Ignis said quietly. "Oh it was her all right." I huffed. "Want to dance?" Ignis blurted out. I scrunched my brow. "Look, Ignis. You're a great guy, but until I know what happened with you and Annabel, I don't want to hear it."

Ignis shuffled his feet. "I'm sorry. I know it's not enough and might never be, but I truly am. I was just hurt you could ever think low of me because my grandparents were a bad match."

"What!?" I said. Ignis tilted his head with confusion. "Didn't you.."

"Of course not you idiot! How could you think that!?" I blabbered. "I don't really know." Ignis spluttered, running a hand through his hair. "She said it and I just believed her. It was like there was no way she could be lying."

"She's a beguiler isn't she." I said quietly. Ignis's eyebrows shot up. "Do you... think?" Ignis asked. "Dude. I know."

Ignis smirked. "Does this mean you'll dance with me?"

"You just learned a juicy piece of gossip about someone close to you lying to you and that's what you're asking!" I voiced. How could anybody be that crazy!?

"Why did she do that? When there was an attack, and those elves wanted "a boy"... was it you?" I pondered. Ignis froze in place. "Wha-" I started. The sky darkened with shadow.

"I'm sorry." Annabel said quietly. Then hell broke loose.

People were screaming as figures swooped downwards, knocking over bowls of punch onto the casual nearby guest. "Quick, cover Ignis!" I screamed. Hydra, Caden, Loli, Emmie, Daffy, and Ocean surrounded him with me.

"Stay down!" I screamed, placing as much power I could into my voice. Hydra sent a large thrash of water at one of the figures and I focused on Annabel. "How could you!?" I screamed, stepping closer to Ignis. "You hurt him, you made him think you cared, and by that, you hurt me."

Anger clouded my vision and for a second I couldn't think. All I felt was power. White sparks shot from my hands, aimed right at Annabel's shocked face. A dagger flew at Molly's side. Screams circles around the ball. Not only was everyone traumatized, they were fighting in fancywear. Lea punched the dagger thrower in the jaw. Everyone was yelling and chaos was ever present. "Get the boy!" Someone screamed.

"Stay away from him!" I yelled back. "Who!?" Loli hissed, sending another spout of flames at the shadowy figures. "Ignis." I replied calmly. "What!" She shrieked, but before I had time to process, a throwing star nailed me in the shoulder. I cried out in pain but they just kept on coming. One at my knee, one at my thigh, my feet, then my heart. "No!" A shrill voice gasped as she jumped in front of me. "Annabel?" I said, my voice cracking. She collapsed to the ground, the star still nailed in her chest.

I sob escaped my throat. Her face was clammy and her breathing was short. The figure who'd thrown the star knelt down and picked her up. Her blond hair spilled down his arms as his cape tilted, revealing his blond hair and sour expression. A woman hissed. "Take her away now!"

"Mama?" Ace said, his eyes wide, tears budding in his eyes. The women tightened.

I heard more of the figures talking. "What are they saying?" Loli asked, her face pale. "You can't understand them?" I asked, realizing they must be speaking a different language. "They're speaking english." Jackson said hoarsely. Loli tensed. "But.... the Neverseen symbol. Annabel and her family are elves, and that boy from before, his stars were covered in a layer of ice only a froster could produce."

"The Neverseen are back. And they've made a deal with humans." Jackson said, tugging his earring. "That's not possible." I said, my voice trailing off. "Sometimes you have to believe in the impossible, because judging what's been happening to us, it seems like more of a reality." Emmie said in a solemn tone that might have made me laugh if not in these circumstances.

Something seriously crazy was happening, and no one was prepared for the bumpy road ahead. Especially not me.

Oh and remember those crazy weird white light power thingys-

(#cliff hanger i'm so evil wink wink)

Daffy POV:

I don't know what to do, I got asked to the dance just a few hours ago and I was freaking out. My grandmother came over and helped me get ready while mom helped Yuna. "Daffy, you look gorgeous." "I don't know grams, it looks over the top..." I responded looking at what I was wearing. It was light pink with short sleeves, I also wore a black belt to match. My hair was in a half up and half down style with flowers in my hair. I felt like a princess, but I also felt like it was way too much. "Sweety, don't worry! You look fine, the boy that is taking you is very lucky, hm?". She smiled and led me away from the mirror. I looked at Yuna and saw she looked beautiful. My self confidence went away almost immediately. She looked like a warrior princess. For some reason everyone likes her.

Popularity was a whole package that came with a bunch of things inside. Hate, glares, Fake friends, smiles, role models, jealousy, fun. I didn't want any of that but unfortunately for me, I got involved with it.

Yuna leaped away to the ball and I leaped with her. She went over to her friends while I walked over to Kyle. "Hey." I said to him, cringing at myself. "Hey, they have great mallowmelt over here" He pointed to the snack station. I giggle, of course he went to the snack station as the first thing he did. I kinda liked Kyle for a while now, I just never told anyone. So when he asked me to the dance, it was one of my happiest moments of the year! He was wearing a matching tie. I glanced at Cara as she slowly walked over here. "Hold on a second" I tell Kyle and I walk over to Cara. "Hey Daf..." She dared to call me that?! She doesn't deserve to call me by a nickname. "Hello to you Cara. Where's Clementine? I wanted to talk to her about something." With a hint of sarcasm. Cara was my friend ever since the day we were born, I didn't know that could change when she met another person. I returned back to Kyle and he smiled. "What was that all about?" He asked. "Nothing!" I said a little too quickly. "Ok...want to dance?" I nod and he leads me to the dance floor.

I danced with Kyle for a little bit but then tried to find Yuna, she was mentally unstable before the dance considering the fact that she was fading just recently. But she looked ok with her friends. Maybe she doesn't need me anymore. Maybe she just got tired of me. I go back to my miserable friends. My own sister didn't even want me.

But soon afterwards a group of stupid maniacs crash the party. They attacked us and everyone, including me, was panicking. Kyle stepped away from me looking around to see where the targets were. I start shooting ice at them, freezing them in solid ice blocks. Yuna was shooting lightning, WAIT WHAT? She collapsed and fell on the ground. Ignis just looked at her on the ground and continued doing what he was doing before. I accidentally shoot out a wave of energy at someone and they lay down in pain. What was happening? I do it to another person and they just become more angry, that's my cue to go now. I go up against the wall like Ms. Foster told me to do it when I was younger. All I remember was that I touched myself and felt pain. That was it, cold hard pain. I blanked out and that was all I remembered.

Paisley POV:

So many emotions were in the air, it hurt my head. Surprised, Panicked, Terrified, desperate, evil, and many more were reflecting onto me. "Someone help" I say as I clutch my head trying to control every emotion. Orson came to me
"Paisley you good?" He dumbly asked, sometimes I wish he was smarter. "No" I weakly say as the pain gets worse. Lightning was shooting out from somewhere in the room and that only caused more things. Confusion, Astonishment, stress, and protectiveness were only a few. "Ok I'll try to help but the doors are locked so there is no way out. I only nod as I thought about cutting my head off at this point. Would that help? Kyle came over carrying a knocked out Daffy in his arms. I felt jealous all of a sudden but right now was not the time for feelings. "What happened to her?" Orson questioned as he pointed to Daffy. "I don't know, she collapsed all of a sudden. The doors burst open with a few staff members and doctors. They immediately went over to some students that needed immediate medical help. Some people were shooting out random abilities at the hooded figures and I felt useless. She heard someone say something in a not so different language but could tell what it was.

Cara POV:

I twirled my blond, soft curled hair as I glanced around the room. Not a lot of people arrived, I mean it was probably because it wasn't 7:00pm yet. I dried my eyes off and my hold on my light blue purse with white clear pearls grew tighter. I sighed, I wanted to leave. But I couldn't, because apparently Clementine wanted me to ruin more of my friend's lives. I wish I could stop her but there was no use. Plus she had a deep dark secret I could tell to everyone but 1. They wouldn't believe me and 2, Ace would disappear. I couldn't stand all this stupid crap anymore. I stood up before a sharp pain entered my ankle. I glanced down and saw a broken glass cup and some of the pieces had pierced my lower leg. I scrunched up my face before brushing them off, which definitely hurt but it was fine. I stood up again before slowly walking out of the gymnasium before I heard a loud crash. A bunch of people entered the dance ruining the ball. Everyone started panicking and I flattened myself against the wall just like mom had taught me to in emergency situations. She said it attracted less attention to myself and could be less dangerous.

I glanced around and saw Daffy who flattened herself as well. Well she knew the technique too since the two of us had learned it together. Except the problem was it was better if you were in a corner since it was dark and the attacker could only attack 3 sides. But if you were in the middle of the wall, the attacker could attack all of your sides and it attracted more attention than being in a corner.

I saw Daffy hit someone with ice and see them fall down before I did the same. I focus on my energy and try to listen to the attackers thoughts. destroy them. Destroy them all, I can't breathe. Destroy who ? Me ? Daffy ? I don't understand anything. Then I hear them. Talking, but not in our language. It sounds different but I can understand them. hissssss. hissssss. hissssss. As all I hear, I concentrate on their voice and their voice only, not the screams. And then I know. It isn't any other special elf language.

People are attacking each other with their powers, and suddenly I notice something. The attackers aren't using any of their powers. Then I realized it. The attackers aren't like us, they aren't elves. They're.......human. And the language they were speaking was English..

Ocean POV:

I surrounded Ignis, confused on why, but scared into submission. I scanned the room, noticing Cara pressed against the wall, her face white. I made a move to run but Yuna grabbed my wrist. "Stay. We have to protect Ignis." She said, Then the hisses began. It was like listening to a different language, except it was slimy and scary. "What is this?" I managed to sputter. "Humans." Yuna said faintly. "The Neverseen recruited..humans?" She said, "What! The Neverseen?" I said. Yuna looked at me desperately. "Black swan information, I couldn't tell but the point it-RUN!" Yelled Yuna as shreds of glass like thin daggers swept across the floor. I crashed to the ground, throwing off my heels. I threw one of them at a cloaked "human" and dashed over to Yuna and Ignis. "Up!" I said as more "humans" descended.

Hydra stood not too far from me, her enviable soft features contorted into a look of fear. "MOLLY!" She screamed as a gleaming silver dagger embedded itself into Molly's side. Blood leaked from the side of her mouth as she slid down to the floor. Lea was shaking her shoulders and sobbing. I began to feel sick. Tears poured down my eyes and I searched around and found Caden. His face was white. "Calm down, Sophie, Linh, Fitz, Keefe, Tam, and Biana are coming, it's going to be alright." He said. "We can't just wait around!" Said Hydra. "Fight!" She said, A current of water from the fountain smashed into some of the humans

I wiped my eyes. I would not just cry this out. Together with Hydra we swept every last bit of moisture at the humans, knocking them out. Suddenly Hydra's face broke into a smile. "She's ok." She said relieved. I turned and saw Molly who was lying down on a bench, protected by Lea, Emmie, and Jason. Her face was white but the bleeding stopped. A small gleaming dagger covered in blood was lying next to her. "But she might not have been." I said, paling. If they had thrown that dagger at Molly, they were going for the kill.

Annabel POV:

Even I couldn't bite down the guilt when I saw Yuna and Ignis. I could still feel his hands around my throat, burning like betrayal, even though the betrayal was mine.

**Time Skip**

Her words. They cut deeper than what was coming next. I felt bitter, she acted like a perfect heroine. Standing up for Ignis. It could've been me. But I was what she was standing up against. Trystan was nothing but trouble. Under the eye of no parents, he knew nothing of discipline. This was a high stakes mission, but killing was not on the agenda. When I saw the star heading for Yuna's arm, I could do nothing but wince. But when it went to her heart, I had to act. It was a moment I could've handled better. Caught the star in mid air and only resulted in a slash of my palm.

Instead, I jumped in front of her. Thank lords the star wasn't lined up to my heart because that could've been the end. Book closed, done as pie. The pain only added to my grief. I could feel Trystan pick me up before my head turned black, but my mother and father, nothing. A simple, get her out. No, is she ok, no sadness. I did everything for them. I do everything for them. But somehow, I get nothing.

Emmie POV:

When we all leapt to Foxfire together, Jacob was waiting inside. "Emmie!" He called. I flushed nervously and walked over to him, my dress flowing around me.

"Want to dance?" he asked, offering me his hand. I took it, and we glided onto the dance floor. While we were twirling and talking, something caught me in the corner of my eye... Neil. A part of me wanted to run over to him and explain why I missed the date, but I knew he would never believe me. Nothing can easily heal a broken heart. Our eyes met, and he nodded sadly and started to trudge towards the exit.

"No..." I breathed. I broke free from Jacob and rushed towards him. "Neil!"

A cool breeze chilled my bare arms as I realized that I was too late, a beam of light disappearing.

Tears in my eyes, I walked back inside to Jacob, who carefully asked, "You okay, Emmie?"

I nodded. "Yeah.... I'm fine." But how could I be fine when the boy I wanted to apologize and explain to didn't even want to talk to me?

Jacob and I resumed dancing, and I tried to forget about my troubles. But right when nobody expected, the Neverseen attacked once again.

"Cover Ignis!" I could hear Yuna screaming through the chaos. Ignis? I was puzzled, but I knew Yuna wouldn't say anything unless there was a reason behind it. I stood in front of him along with Yuna and Ocean, in a stance ready to unleash flames. But that's when I realized- I couldn't anymore.

That's it. I can't deal with this anymore.

I grabbed my restrictor with both hands. Dex had warned me that trying to take the ability restrictor off would result in extreme pain, but I didn't care. With all my might, I pulled it off through the major migraine occurring in my head. I threw it off to the side, feeling power rush back through my veins. I faced the enemy, my eyes ablaze.

Bring it on. Masses of fire rushed from my hands to the dark cloaked figures, knocking them down five at a time.

I grinned to myself. Oh, how I've missed this. I looked to my left and saw Yuna blasting lightning out of her hands, then passing out. On my right, Molly was stabbed and Ocean rushed over to her. I was the only one left protecting Ignis. The figures started hissing to each other in what sounded like... English? I kept my flames coming, and they seemed to back off a little. Someone shouted that the adults were on their way. Today is just pure chaos, isn't it?
