It was my second year at Foxfire. I was finally a Halcyon. I had manifested as a shade a few months ago. I was at the beach with Star, Ocean, and Will. When Will decided it was a good idea to throw me in the water. It was not. I don't really know what happened after that, but from what I heard, I had controlled the shadows in the water to pull him under too. He wasn't happy and got really mad at me, but I know him, and inside he was laughing at how chaotic we were. But anyways, because I was a shade - and my Dad didn't want me to train with anyone else - my mentor was now him. I honestly think he was more upset about it than me. I mean, we love each other and all, but he has never wanted to be a teacher. And I, no matter how much I love him, know he will embarrass me whenever he gets the chance. But anyways I was now walking towards my class with him, dragging my feet the whole way. When I told Will he just laughed at my misery and said that he needed to be there to see it. Me and Will had always had a connection, we would tell each other everything and trusted each other with our lives. He was my favorite cousin, and I was his. Although the way we were cousins were weird. I mean he was my cousin on my Mom's and Dad's side. They had a joint wedding, so neither were siblings by law. But that's not the point. "Hey, when do you think I'll manifest?" Will asked me suddenly, jolting me out of my thoughts. He had been stressing out over the fact that he still hadn't manifested for a while now. "I don't know. But I'm sure whenever you do manifest it will be awesome." I reassured him stopping at the door to my session with the devil- I mean my Dad. Will just muttered a quick thank before walking away, his head facing the floor. I honestly don't know how he does it. He's always looking at the floor and never at where he is going, yet he manages to never run into anything and knows exactly where he is going. And then you have Cara who trips on nothing! I took a moment to gather my thoughts before opening the door to my first class of the year. ~~~ "How was your first class?" Will shouted out, running to catch up to me. So far I had my class with Dad, Elementism, and Alchemy. All of them being equally bad. I was never the best at school when it came to the first days. But as I learn more I would get better at the subject and then would pass with flying colors. No one knew how I do it. But if a magician never reveals their secrets, why should I? "It was great! Yah, it went so well they let me out early." I responded to Will, sarcasm dripping off every word. "Well that's great! I blew up half of the room in Alchemy which made me have to go to the healing center and miss Ability Detecting. Which is just great for someone who doesn't have an ability. And to top that all off I got detention for being late for Elvin History!" Will shot back, his words equally as sarcastic. I had to bite back a laugh at him. He might be Uncle Fitz and Aunt Linh's son but he took after Aunt Sophie in the getting hurt department. We both got our food and went to sit down with rest of our friends when they saw Ocean running towards their table and sitting down very quickly. She might be very nice and sweet, but she didn't know how to shut her mouth. "What happened this time?" Star asked Ocean with an exaggerated sigh. "Sir Beccket got mad at Axel and Arlo for talking and not paying attention to him. So he pointed a ruler at them and said at one end of this ruler is an idiot." Ocean started talking looking around franticly. "Tell me you didn't?" I asked her, knowing full well she did. "What it was the perfect opening! I had to ask him which side! It wasn't my fault he didn't know memes" Ocean responded throwing her hands in the air. "Of course he didn't know memes. Those are a human thing!" Star yelled at her. "We'll talk about this later. Right now you and Will have to get to detention.I gave Ocean and Will a pointed look, before telling them they couldn't skip. They both grumbled but nonetheless started walking to what was going to be the first of many detention for them this year.
