If I Could Tell Her

Keefe came back from dinner (and cleaning the dishes due to the Neverseen don't have gnomes. So of course they give most of chores to the newbie.) Keefe rolled his eyes and walked into his room, if you could even call it a room.

Their was a 'safe house', or so they called it, was a cavethey had sectioned off into parts to make "rooms". Keefe was given a mattress in his sectioned off area so thankfully he didn't have to sleep on the hard, sandy floor. Keefe took out Ms. Stinkbottom from his backpack (one of his only possessions) and settled into bed, his cape acting like a blanket.

Keefe closed his eyes and wondered what Sophie must be doing. Maybe her and Fitz got together, finally because Keefe was out of the picture. That didn't make him necessarily sad just bittersweet. He was glad she was happy but that didn't help the fact his was broken. Leaving Sophie was one of the hardest things he'd done. But he did it for her and he had to help. He couldn't sit there helpless because his mom is evil.

Keefe clutched Ms. Stinkbottom like his life depended on it and held back a sob. Sophie was one of the few he could rely on. Everyone else had betrayed him or didn't understand. Keefe had no real family even the one he thought he had had turned out evil. Dex had a loving family. Sure he was scorned but he faced it with his family.

Fitz was his best friend, sure, but he lived a perfect life. Keefe thought back to the time Fitz had called him over to tell him how much he liked Sophie and Keefe had to act like he didn't like her to be a supportive best friend. Fitz was worried if Sophie liked him while Keefe was worried what he would do if Sophie left him too. She was the one thing that kept him from falling. But nevertheless Keefe knew she liked Fitz. The love struck feelings rolled off of her in waves, like she couldn't be more obvious. So that what he told Fitz but Fitz still paced his room.

Once he'd been assured enough Sophie liked him, Fitz started talking about what he loved about her which was especially painful for Keefe. Fitz talked how beautiful she was when she blushes, and how wonderful her eyes were and how cute her habit of pulling her eyelashes was. However with each comment from Fitz, Keefe would add on in his head.

When Fitz said, "Her smile is perfect and so subtle at times" Keefe thought It may be subtle but it's so real that it lights up the room. And she never knew how her smile made me feel.

Then Fitz had said "She dances so wonderfully even though she's so clumsy." Keefe immediately thought, I wonder how she got the courage to dance even though she's so clumsy. I love how she dances like the rest of the world isn't there.

Finally when had Fitz said, "She's so beautiful and graceful nevertheless all her so called faults" Keefe understood he really loved Sophie but he couldn't stop loving Foster no matter how hard he tried. He remembered the time he almost told her he liked her.

He had come over to Havenfield to pick something up that he had forgotten at Foxfire earlier that day. However when he lightleaped over here found Sophie cover in Verdi saliva and feathers. He tried to hold back his laughs and succeeded with only a small smile. He plastered a grin on his face and started teasing her.

"Hey Foster was part of your homework to pick a fight with a T-Rex?" I smirked pulling one of the saliva covered feathers off of Sophie.

She blushed so much she had a shocking resemblance to a Human thing called a tomato. Sophie had shown us what a tomato looked like once she explained she wasn't only allergic to limbium but also to tomatoes. "No Grady went to go get extra food for Verdi but she started acting up almost immediately. I'm sorry I'm such a mess. And look like trash. I'll go clean up." She gestured to Grady who had appeared out of nowhere with a whole bucket of giant seeds glaring at Keefe with excess passion.

"Come on Keefe your notebook is in my room," Sophie lead the way inside and Keefe was thankful for leaving Grady and his intense glare that seemed to see through him. They passed the kitchen where Edaline was cooking what Keefe hoped was mallowmelt.

They went up the stairs and into Sophie's room. Sophie hurriedly went into the shower and Keefe sat down on her bed having an internal argument with himself.

We could tell her now! One part of him said excitedly.

But there's a huge possibility if we do she'll turn us down, the more logical side of him said.

But If I could tell her! What would happen? I could say I like her! And she's pretty! The other side replied.

"Who's pretty?" Sophie said stepping out of the bathroom wearing a red tunic and her hair wet. Biana was right, red really was her color.

In split second decision Keefe lied through my teeth, "I said she's pretty...cool! I said you're pretty cool." Keefe mentally facepalmed at how smooth it was (not). Keefe glanced nervously at Sophie hoping she'd buy the act. She simply shrugged and started rummaging through her desk to get my notebook.

Now we're a million miles apart. I couldn't tell her if I wanted too. Keefe thought bitterly, in the present. But a small part of his mind couldn't stop thinking about what would happen If I could tell her.
