Sophie gritted her teeth together. The Black Swan betrayed her. Betrayed her.

She had been thinking that for the last week, and now, as she thought about it more, the more committed she was to the Neverseen.

She cleared her head, and prepared for the attack.

"You better not mess this up." Gethen said gruffly as she passed him in the hallway.

Sophie didn't flinch.

As she stuffed as many throwing stars in her pockets, she remembered when she did the same when Flori--  nope, she wasn't going to think about that.

That was all behind her. All that mattered, was what was in front of her.

Before she knew it, she was following the light to Foxfire, where they would stage their ambush.

She crept down in the bushes, and when she finally spotted Keefe. She quickly grabbed him.

"Foster?" Panic filled his eyes. " Foste-"

Sophie cut him off by shoving a large black berry in his mouth. Instantly he fell asleep.

Sophie rubbed her hands together. "Good. Now that he's out of the way, in just have to take out everyone one else." She said to no one in particular.

That was easy enough, except that Tam and Linh weren't at the school.

Sophie growled with frustration.

All of a sudden, an alarm went off.

Gethen unleaded a bunch of colorful words. "Run!"

"But what about the attack?" Sophie hissed.

" Forget about it! "

But Sophie didn't. She snuck away, and was going to break into Foxfire, when Tam and Linh showed up.

Their eyes widened when they saw her.

"Ugh." Sophie muttered under her breath.

Immediately they went into action. Linh grabbed as much water as possible, and Tam called for shadowflux.

The whole time Sophie stayed calm.

As they attacked her, she fended them off.

"You'll never win. Ever." Sophie said with steel laced in her voice.
 
"Not if we can help it." Linh said, then looked at Tam and nodded.

She dove at Sophie with an array of attacks, and Sophie thwarted all of them.

But, she didn't see Tam sneaking up behind her.

He held her in a headlock, while Linh found some rope to tie her up.

Once that was done, Tam spoke. "Why?"

"Why what?" Sophie asked disgusted.

Tam shook his head. "Why did you turn."

Sophie looked up. "I think that's a pretty obvious answer."

Linh looked at her sadly. "But it wasn't the right choice."

Sophie's lips slowly curled into a smile. "Maybe you're right. Maybe you're wrong. But, either way, you can't stop me."

She pushed her emergency button, and she disappeared in a cloud of gold dust.
