The Rink: Part 3

Asami stared at Korra as her eyes shot open. Korra stared at the ceiling, not moving for a second but shooting up a second later. Asami took her shoulders, tears coming to her eyes as she tried to push Korra back down. Korra let her, wincing from her side. "Who are you?"

"My name's Asami," she smiled, letting Korra go.

She nodded, staring at the ceiling of the ambulance.

"You're Pack, right?"

Korra nodded, looking into Asami's eyes. They're..... Mystifying. Oh god, is that the right word? I don't know...... Maybe beautiful is right. No, they're beautiful, but that's not the word... Is it hypnotic? No, not that. Wait, is she talking? Oh spirits! What am I missing!?

"-I'm just really glad you're okay," Asami finished.

Korra nodded, pretending to hear everything. What was she even saying?

"I saw you play earlier today," Asami said, smiling.

"Really? How'd I do?"

"You did awesome! That last second shot on goal to win the game was really cool too," Asami said, still smiling.

She chuckled lightly, a small pain rising in her rib cage. She winced, hoping Asami didn't notice. She did.

"You should get some rest," she said, frowning.

Korra shook her head, sighing. "My name's Korra, by the way," the girl mumbled, realizing she never told Asami her name.

"Korra, really," she said. Asami didn't know why, but she felt a strong connection to this girl. To Korra.

"It's fine, Asami," she said.

"Korra, now," Asami shot, a little harder than she wanted to.

Korra's eyes widened at the outburst, but not much. She simply nodded, closing her eyes as her head laid on a pillow that she hadn't noticed before. Asami sighed with relief, but thought about how she 'yelled' at Korra. Now she felt horrible, looking at the now sleeping girl, who had a bruise on her cheek. A tear slipped from her eye, but she quickly wiped it away.

Korra listened to Asami's breathing, not quite asleep yet. She thought she heard a sniffle, but shoved that thought away from her head, focusing on how comfortable the bed was. While she had a good room, a good house, and an AWESOME dog, this bed was so much better than the rock that she sleeps on. She eventually dozed off, and a second later, she was in a hospital room.

She opened her eyes, looking around. She sat up, the pain in her side coming back. She immediately noticed Asami, leaning against a chair next to the bed, eyes closed. How long have I been here? How long has SHE been here?

Korra stayed sitting up, leaning against two of many pillows behind her. Asami opened her eyes, yawning. Korra smiled as she turned her head to look at Korra, and then Asami's eyes widened. "I thought you were dead!"
