Love And War | Larry x Reader

Another somewhat adaptation, ya'll. In this chapter, you're about 7 or 8 years old. And for the sake of this chapter, you have an elder sibling and they're in a relationship with Bully Koopa. My OC Sally Waffles who is in the original version of this story, also makes an appearance as Lemmy's love interest. The art up top belongs to me.

You and your elder sibling silently walked down the halls of the Koopa Castle.

You hadn't seen them in a while as they'd been studying abroad. For the winter break, your parents sent you to the Mushroom Kingdom to spend time with them.

This was a complete surprise to them; They'd already made plans to visit their boyfriend, Bully Koopa. Reluctantly, they let you tag along with them.

"I really can't wait to meet this 'boyfriend' of yours. This castle has very odd decor." You commented.

"Well, he doesn't live here by himself. He has like, 7 siblings."  Your sibling replied.

"7?! I can hardly put up with 1! That poor, poor boy." You shook your head solemnly.

"Yeah, and there's one of them right now!" Your sibling exclaimed, pointing down the hallway.

A little boy with a blue mohawk was idly walking down the hallway, munching on his Doofy O's straight from the cereal box.

"Hey, I've got an idea! How about you and Larry go play while I go chill with my boyfriend!" Your sibling suggested.

"Wait, I--"

"Good plan, I know! I'll come back for you later!" Your sibling yelled before running off down the hall.

You sighed and turned your attention to Larry, "Hey, you!" You yelled.

Larry stopped and looked around behind him before pointing a questioning finger at himself.

"Yes, you!" You clarified, stomping over to him.

"Who are you?" He asked curiously, munching on more cereal.

You flipped your hair. "If you must know, I am [Princess/Prince] [Y/N] [M/N] [L/N] of the Fruit Kingdom. And who might you be?"

Larry munched on more cereal, spilling colorful crumbs on the floor. "I'm Prince Larry of the Koopa Kingdom. Nice to meet you!" He exclaimed, extending a friendly hand to you.

You looked him up and down, scowling at his hand covered with crumbs, boy cooties, and other unknown sticky child substances.

"There's no need for that." You replied simply, rejecting his offer.

"My big [sister/brother] abandoned me so I don't have anything to do." You explained.

"Well, I got an invitation to a tea party. My brother Lemmy said I couldn't come unless I brought a plus one to make me act more civilized. You can come as my plus one~" Larry told you.

You debated his offer. A tea party meant more kids and more kids meant more fun.

"Sure, it sounds like fun!"

"I want to dank everyone for making it here today. I reawwy appreciate it." Lemmy stated.

"Sally, I know you've had quite a bit going on with your Daddy going off to da war," He said, pouring his best friend a cup of tea, which was actually just apple juice.

"Oh Larry, I see you can finawwy be civiwized enough to join us in our discussions. And you've brought someone new, " Lemmy observed, pouring Larry a cup of "tea".

You looked around the room. Lemmy's room was filled with many vibrant colors. He also had many stuffed animals and balls of different sizes and shapes. It was very open, and had a lot of room to run around. Along the wall, there was a showcase of  gymnastics prize ribbons and medals.

"I see you've noticed my cowwection of achievements. Impwessive, aren't they?" Lemmy asked.

You shrugged. "Sure, I guess. [3 of your hobbies] are more my style. These medals are kind of um...what's the word...underwhelming."

"That's what I've been telling him, no one cares about gymnastics! I play tennis and I ride horses!" Larry chimed in.

"Wotsa people care about gymnastics! It's an Owympic sport! Who cares about 2 people hitting a ball awound or some horses hopping over tiny fences and moats!?" Lemmy retorted.

"Tennis and equestrian are so much more than that! You're just jealous 'cause I'm better than you at everything!" Larry clapped back.

You and Sally were a little confused on how the feud escalated so quickly but you guys didn't want to get involved.

"Is dat wight, hotshot? Take dis!" Lemmy quickly took out his wand and shot a magical blast at Larry who easily dodged the attack.

"So that's how it's going to be then? This.is.war." Larry hissed.

He took you by the arm as he ducked for cover into a pile of large plushies.

Before you knew it, Lemmy's room had transformed into a battlefield, you and Larry occupied the west side while Lemmy and Sally occupied the east.

Larry shot more magical blasts at the opposing side.

"What are we going to do? We can't fight like this forever." You asked.

"You're right, [Y/N], but I'm not sure. We'll have to wait it out but until then, we need to build up our fort with stronger shields. I need you to travel to the north side of the room to get more slushies for protection. You think you can do it?" He answered.

You peaked out from behind your shelter. The plushies looked like they were miles away. But your barrier did look noticeably smaller than the enemy's, and if you wanted any chance of winning this war, you'd have to have a good strong defense system.

Larry placed a toy bowl on your head, interrupting your inner monologue.

"Safety first. We can't have any casualties, you're my only teammate. I'll cover you, it'll be a-okay!" He assured you.

After Larry shot a magic blast towards the other side to cover you, you quickly dropped to the purple carpet. You hastily began to army crawl, taking advantage of places to hide and take cover from the cross fire.

"Where do you think you're going?" Sally asked, standing in your way. It seemed she had been sent to interfere with your mission.

"None of your business, pipsqueak. Just get out of my way and we'll pretend we never saw each other." You answered.

She summoned her claws. "I'm sorry, but I can't do dat. We need dose plushies for our shelter."

You weren't too sure what to do. Being part squirrel, she had claws that could shred you up. So you did the only thing you could do….

Run.

You shoved past her and began to run towards the slushies and Sally began to chase you.

You were so close now, you could taste it. You became deaf to the booms and bangs of magical blasts exploding on impact. It felt like you were going in slow motion and all you could hear was the imaginary victory song playing in your head.

You were so close….

But you wouldn't make it. When you were only a few feet away, Sally caught up to you and made you fall and skin your knee on the carpet.

You winced and began to whisper to yourself.

At that moment, Larry's older brother Iggy came into the room. He paused when he saw the chaotic state of Lemmy's room.

"What the heck is going on in here?!" He exclaimed.

"Go away Iggy, dis doesn't concern you!" Lemmy retorted and Larry agreed.

"Finally, a grown up! Larry and Lemmy were fighting and it turned into a full on war!" You explained.

"And now [Y/N]'s hurt!" Sally reported, pointing at your bloody knee.

"Yeah, but that's because you pushed me!" You retorted.

"I'm sowwy…." She genuinely apologized. You forgave her, she was only a little kid and didn't really know any better. Besides, you weren't that badly hurt.

Iggy then grabbed Larry and Lemmy's wands. "I'm going to confiscate these until you two learn how to use your magic more responsibly around your guests, and you two need to learn to get along better."

"Iggy, give it back! That's not fair!" Larry whined.

"Yeah, give them back you big meanie weanie!" Lemmy pouted, reaching for his wand.

"[Y/N], there you are! I heard loud noises and I was starting to get worried!" Your sibling exclaimed, pushing passed Iggy. They knelt down to examine you.

"I'm fine, I only skinned my knee." You replied.

They blew a sigh of relief. "That's good. We should be running along home now."

"Wait!" Larry exclaimed, grabbing your arm. "When will I ever see you again?"

You rolled your eyes. "Why does it matter?"

Larry looked at the floor and blushed sheepishly. "B-because I think you're kinda cute."

You were somewhat flattered. You looked up at your sibling. "When can he see me again?"

"Well...I guess we could come back tomorrow?" They suggested.

"Well, you heard them. I'll be back tomorrow, so make sure you're ready!" You ordered.

Larry nodded enthusiastically. "I will be, I promise."
