Chapter 9: remembrance

Lupus POV

I groaned as I stood up. I found myself still in the building, but everything was less damaged, actually, it was perfect. I heard chatter outside, and the sounds of something being built. I walk outside, and shield my eyes from the blinding light.

When my eyes adjusted, the first thing I noticed was that the town was no longer surrounded by sand, but instead lush forestry and plants. People of all races walked around, laughing. There were no guards, no sign of military presence, not a single weapon in sight. It looks like a paradise at first glance.

I groaned as memories flowed through my mind at light speed, ones that don't belong to me. The vampire and Werewolf were familiar. But why? What connection do they have to me?

As I see all these people walking around, I see this woman walk by. "Hey!" I said as I jogged up to her. "Where am I?"

But she didn't answer, and kept walking. I raise an eyebrow, and wave my hand in her face. "Can't see me?"

"No they cannot." A voice behind me said. I whip around to see a man leaning against a building.

With Kazuma: Axel

Kazuma sighed as she looked down from the roof of a house. Aqua had retreated into a church to heal, Megumin had taken her frustration out on Verdia's castle, and Darkness had gone home, leaving her all alone. Normally when this happened, Lupus would teach her how to use a sword, or teach her spells from Skyrim.

Kazuma looked up to see the army surrounding his house, where Luna and Lupus had been holed up.

The army feared going in, as the first group sent to apprehend them exploded thanks to a rune under the door.

Kazuma jumped down onto the stack of crates next to the roof, climbing down to the road. She stuck her hands in her pockets as she started to walk in the direction of the church.

Aqua needed to explain.

Time skip

Kazuma pushed the door open, sending dust flying in the air. The old Axis church in Axel hasn't been used in years, but still had enough power to help Aqua. She walked over and opened a side door, revealing a bedroom, Aqua lying on the bed.

"Ah, Kazuma. Did you bring me anything?" Aqua asked as she sat up, showing that she slept topless, bandages wrapped around her stomach. "I am thirsty!"

"I need answers Aqua." Kazuma said as she leaned against the door frame. "And drop the act. Lupus told me it was fake."

Aqua sighed as she became serious. "Of course he did."

"What is he?" Kazuma asked. "Because what happened wasn't human."

"He's not human. He never was, even back before the gods awakened him." Aqua said as she pointed to a nearby chair. "Please, sit, this will take a while."

Kazuma grunted as she sat in the chair. "What do you mean awakened? He told me the gods cursed him."

Aqua scoffed. "We never cursed him. But, if you want to know what he is, I need to start at the very beginning."

(Note; from here on, Aqua is speaking in bold italics, and Kazuma is speaking in bold underline.)

"In the beginning, there was nothing but Abyss, the Void, whatever you call it."

"But that changed, as what the people on your earth call, the big bang happened."

"Was that Lupus?"

"No. It was a much stronger deity. Stronger than the Omniversal deities. This being created everything except for the Abyss, as that had already existed. The being's mere presence created the big bang, and so began the circle of life."

A flash of white shown through the pitch black, as a crack formed, a cloaked figure walked through the crack, a gold light mixed with silver flows around the deities arms as a ball of fire was created.

"The first thing they created was a star that banished the darkness."

The figure spread out their arms, and the ball of fire split into infinite pieces, and scattered around.

"Then they made the universe, a place to hold infinite possibilities."

The figure held up a stone, and crushed it into dust, the dust was blown apart, as gravity held the dust around the stars.

"They created galaxies and within them planets to host life dependent on the stars rays."

The figure shrunk in size, releasing a gas that surrounded the Galaxies. They held out and put their hands around a Galaxy, green energy flowed from the hands, and seeped into the planets. As life of various forms started to grow.

"Then they created life, but a realization came to mind. They cannot rule over their creation."

"Why not?"

"Their sense of morals prevented them. Ruling is a grave task, but they were a creator, not a ruler, so, they gave life to what existed. They created the Primordials."

"Like Lupus?"

"Like Lupus."

The figure cupped their hands together, and blew into their palm, multitudes of colors mixed together as millions of figures of different sizes stood up.

The figures bowed to the original, who shook their head. The creator threw the Primordials up, as they took off.

The creator sighed as they looked at their hands. The once healthy and smooth flesh became old, and wrinkled.

"But everything has a price. Even for the Creator. They became weak. Powerless. But the Creator knew why. There was too much life."

"So they created it's opposite."

Four sets of red eyes opened.

"They created Death, War, Famine, and Pestilence."

"The four horsemen."

"Indeed. And so, the Creator returned to its former power, but knew it was not enough. They created a vault that held everything after the Horsemen. In it, was the scroll that held the Anti-Life equation."

The Creator opened another crack in space, and walked through, the primordials watching.

"Eventually, the Creator left, leaving the Primordials behind in their place, with one final creation; communication."

"You are free."

"And so, the primordials rules over what the Creator made, for millions of years, but only seemed like a few years to them. But nothing lasts."

"What do you mean?"

"The Primordials shared two rules,

One; don't interfere with another's power or element

Two; no killing other primordials.

But it's damn near impossible to kill a primordial."

"But one did it."

"Yes."

"Who?"

They never found out, but the one who was killed was the Primordial of Holy light."

"What was their name?"

"They didn't have names back then. They just referred to each other by their elements."

"But after they died, the primordials went to war with each other, and within a year,  millions died. But the thing about Primordials, there element goes to someone else who shares the same type of element."

"How so?"

"Take the Primordial of hell fire and fire. If Hell fire dies, their power goes to Fire. But so many elements had been let loose, because they shared nothing with anyone else."

A red haired individual walked down a trail, their silver eyes darting from side to side.

"Back then, Lupus was the Primordial of Wolves, Werewolves, and other forms of canines."

"That's specific."

"Indeed, many were. But Lupus never fought anyone else. He preferred to be with his element, running with the wolves. He was the true Alpha. Until he was attacked."

Lupus was running, gold and silver wolves at his side. He let out a bark of laughter as one of the wolves tackled him, licking his face. Lupus glowed red as he became a wolf, and wrestled free, before taking off, the pack giving chase.

"Back then, Lupus was among the weakest of the Primordials, one of the easy targets, but he was always on the move, and hard to track."

The pack stopped as they began to sniff the air, Lupus growling as he shifted back to human form, a wolf bone dagger in hand.

"But everything is found in time, by something, or someone."

Lupus jumped as an arrow skimmed his shoulder, the arrow continued, and split a pine tree behind him in half before shattering a boulder. Lupus' eyes flashed silver as his wound healed. Several arrows came out of the woods, Lupus dodging them all.

"Lupus was found by the one primordial that had any chance at tracking him."

A man shrouded in furs walked out of the woods, machete in hand.

"He was found by the Primordial Hunter, Pestilence."

"What are you doing Pestilence? You have no place here." Lupus said as the wolves fled at his command.

"My job."

Pestilence dashed forward, swinging the machete down, Lupus barely dodging as it cut his right eye, blinding that side. Lupus roared as he bit Pestilence's neck and stabbed the dagger into his side.

"But you never challenge a wolf on their territory."

Pestilence screamed as he started to burn, his machete lodged in his own heart. Lupus yanked out the blade, the primordium blade shifting to his liking.

"By some miracle, Lupus had killed Pestilence and had taken his weapon as a trophy. The same sword our Lupus carried on his back now."

"What do you mean, "Our Lupus?""

"I'm getting there. Now shut up."

"Tch."

"Now, usually, the power would flow out, and split into two parts, Physical and Magical, or as they referred to it, Power and Elemental. But not this time."

Lupus grunted as he sat on the floor. He slid the dagger back in the sheath on his waist as he inspected the blade.

What he didn't see was Pestilence's corpse glowing black and purple.

"You see, Pestilence had the ability to absorb both aspects of a primordial, making him stronger with each kill. Nobody knew if he had this ability before or after the war started, but the gods think that he got it from another primordial."

The wolves barked as they saw Pestilence's body rise. Lupus looked up at the body exploded, multicolored tendrils burst forth from the body, and grabbed Lupus, as both began to glow.

"And it worked both ways."

Lupus cried in pain as the tendrils burrowed into his skin, his hair started to turn silver, stopping half way. His eye healed, only leaving a scar behind, his silver eyes shining once more.

"It passed to Lupus, didn't it."

Lupus's cries turned into laughter as his iris's turned red, replacing the silver.

"It did. And not in a good way."

The wolves backed away, tails between their legs. Massive waves of power rolled off of him as the trees started wilting away.

"Lupus turned mad from the massive power change. He went from weak to one of the strongest in seconds. He left the woods, and slaughtered hundreds of Primordials, absorbing their powers. Soon, only a hundred Primordials remained, The four horsemen included."

"Didn't Lupus kill one?"

"He did. Death, the leader of the Horsemen, took in Conquest."

Lupus walked down a trail, a marble palace locked in his sight.

"The remaining hundred teamed up to take down Lupus, in the Primordial Palace, Origicala."

The hundred Primordials threw long ranged attacks at Lupus, who blocked them with the blade.

"But nothing worked."

The attacks hit Lupus, who continued to walk forward. The blade in his hand started to glow as he held it out to the side.

"He was no longer just the Primordial of wolves, he was the Power of thousands of Pirmordials mixed into one. We didn't know what to call him, so we called him The Primordial of Reality, but he is much more than that. He had control over everything, could create anything from nothing."

The blade glowed blood red as flames licked across the blade. Lupus let a mad grin cross his face as the grass below him turned to ash. The blade sliced through the air, a flaming laser cutting trees and hills as it raced at Origicala.

"According to the few living Primordials that lived after the war ended, Lupus had nearly half the power of the Creator, as the average Primordial only had about ⅛ or so."

A wall of water, earth, and fire raised around the Palace, stopping the Laser. Lupus smirked as he sent hundreds more as Lightspeed, the blade never seeming to move. The wall was carved into pieces, the beam cut through the marble walls of Origicala.

"It was a miracle that the primordials lived, as nothing seemed to stop Lupus and his death march."

Hundreds of mortal troops raced at Lupus, wielding several types of weapons. A bone chilling laugh stopped the troops as the shadows surrounded the thousand-strong force.

"He was nigh-unstoppable."

"Then why is his so tame now?"

"I'm getting there you shut-in-Neet!"

"Tch, just hurry up. I need to sneak food in for Luna and Lupus with Chris later.

"Whatever."

The shadows turned into a giant dome, trapping the army inside, no light breaking through as only a pair of glowing red eyes shown through the darkness, the screams of death echoed as a calm voice spoke though the chaos.

"Symphony of Death, Act 1; Grim Reaper"

A flash of silver carved through the army as the dome fell. Lupus walked past the army, sword sliding in the sheath on his back. When the blade clicked, the army exploded in a shower of blood.

"The Primordials knew they couldn't beat Lupus. The only one who could was the Creator."

Eleven figures stood before a giant safe, their hands on each handle. They chanted quietly as the safe slowly opened.

The safe was large, and the inside was pitch black, a gold light holding back a black fog from rolling out into the world. But not all of it. A small wisp escaped and floated off into the distance.

"And so, they sought after something that could stop, or kill Lupus. They prefered to stop him, not kill him."

"So the power didn't go to them?"

"No, because there had been enough death already. Their backs were against a wall, and they were out of energy. They used it all trying to make a barrier to stop him, only for him to cut it to pieces."

Three Primordials walked in, gold light surrounding them.

"Gaia, Helios, and Tiamat walked into the Vault, but only Gaia and Helios walked out."

Gaia and Helios walked out, platinum blood leaking from their arms as they held a glitching orb. Gaia was sobbing as Helios comforted her, the other Primordials took the orb from them, laying down on the ground, the glitching grabbed one of the Primordials as he cried in pain, slowly melting into the orb.

"What they brought out of the Vault, was the most dangerous entity to ever exist. Much more so than the Creator itself."

Tho orb melted as it took on the form of a young man, then young woman, only 6' high, then 3' tall, skin shifting from ghost white to Midnight black, and every shade in between.

"They had awoken Paradox, the being that created itself, both peaceful, but war-happy, Young and Old, an absolute contradiction. It existed, but it didn't. People called it Shrodingers cat, But this entity was much worse, or much better."

Paradox held a cheshire grin as they picked up a sword.

"So, you want him ALIVE?" they asked.

Gaia nodded as she hugged them, the grin never leaving their face. "Please, he is suffering, that's not him. That's not the man I know. He's peaceful."

"Then I shall remove the sickness." Paradox said as they looked straight up, their grin only grew wider. "But first, dodge."

Thousands of primordium arrows broke through the ceiling, killing several primordials, their bodies soon glowing black as their power flowed up through the ceiling.

"But Paradox had only just awoken, and had they awoken him sooner, he would have had a better chance at winning in combat."

Lupus crashed down and clashed blades with Paradox, who had finally chosen a proper form. Bloodthirsty brown eyes met pure red as Lupus's blade sliced through the sword and cut off Paradox's head.

"It was then they found out Lupus could seal away beings he cuts with his sword, as he sealed Paradox or so they thought."

Lupus raised his blade in glee as he slaughtered dozens more, soon only fifteen were left in his sight. Lupus brought his blade down but stopped short as silver streaked across his red eyes.

"Paradox had invaded Lupus's mind, but found that Pestilence had used the powers of the primordial of Control and Minds to take over Lupus, seeking to kill everything. Paradox fought with Pestilence, and won. Kind of."

Lupus's Iris' turned back to silver, but his pupils stayed red as he dropped his blade, tears leaking from the corners of his eyes.

"What do you mean Kind Of?"

Gaia rushed forward and embraced Lupus as she too started to cry.

"Paradox couldn't kill Pestilence for some reason, not even Lupus could kill him in his mind. So he still lurks in the edges of Lupus' mind, powerless to do anything but watch, waiting for a moment of weakness to try and take control."

"What happened after that?"

"Well, Lupus used his powers to rebuild Origicala, fixed the destroyed universes,  But couldn't bring back the dead primordials, Death wouldn't let them come back. Anyways, a few thousand years passed, Gaia and Lupus fell in love, and had a kid named Devion Artemisia Moon, who you know as the Biblical God."

"Wait, you're telling me the Biblical God is real?"

"Yeah, I even met him once. Pretty handsome guy, chill to. Had his father's white hair, perfect skin, fully formed muscles. Shame what happened."

"What?"

"Be quiet, I'm getting there."

"Anyways, Lupus and Gaia gave him a universe to use as a sandbox for when he took his father's job as grandmaster, and he made your earth. Everything was fine and dandy until Death and War murdered the entire council, while Conquest and Famine killed Devion."

"So God is dead?"

"Yeah."

"How did they do it?"

"Nobody knows, They just found his mangled corpse at the steps of Olympus a few days after Death and War used the Anti-Life equation on the council."

"That actually affects them?"

"No, it only works if two primordials of equal strength say it at the same time. If only one uses it, the listeners only are briefly immoble."

"I see. Well, I'll be back tomorrow, I need to run things over to Luna and Lupus."

"Goodbye Kazuma."

INSIDE LUPUS' MIND

I stared at the dual colored man as he finished his story.

"And what does this have to do with me?" I asked as I sipped my mead.

"Everything! After Death and War killed us all, from what I can tell, My magic power didn't like Death and War, so It broke free and took on the form of the Zodiac dragon, let loose a burst of magic that freed everyone's power." The Silver and red eyed bastard said.

"Then how come your power didn't go to Death and War. If they killed you, then how come that weird ability didn't transfer to the both of them?" I asked as I stared at a passing woman and her husband, hand in hand.

"I honestly don't know." He said as he looked into the distance. "I've thought about it, and came to three conclusions. First, it can't be held by two people at the same time. Second, It wasn't in combat, it was murder. Third, the craziest, it didn't like Death or War, so it stayed."

"I vote for that last one." I said as I walked over to a platform in the middle of the town. "What does this have to do with me?"

"I told you, this has everything to do with us." He said as he waved his hand. "You see, the equation barely worked on me, I still had some control left, so in a moment of brilliance, I separated my magic and my strength right before they made us kill ourselves. But something went wrong and the spell I cast failed, and instead of creating a new body, my strength found a new host that shared %99 of me, that one percent being my power."

"And that was me." I watched as a crystal grew from the platform.

"Yes, A child of a Werewolf and a Vampire. Only one had ever existed before you and they had so much raw power that upon minutes after their birth they unleashed a magic explosion so large they split a continent the size of the Eastern Continent into islands the size of the Bahamas!" The soul said, throwing their arms up.

"The fuck are you talking about?" I asked.

"Ah, right, your ability to see past the fourth wall comes from me. Our readers will know what I am talking about." The soul stared into the distance. "Anyways, after your birth, Your father was killed by a vampire slayer, and your mother, fearing your safety sealed you away here, then hunted the hunter, killed him, then took over as ruler of both factions, and married that asshole Tobias to cover your birth."

"So then why did this place look like it had gone through a battle?" I asked as I watched a woman put a baby into the crystal, before leaving.

"Because it did." Time sped up again. "It faced us at our worst."

"What do you mean?" I turned to the soul, whose red aura was still blocking their face. "What do you mean OUR worst?"

"Just watch." The soul sounded sad as I heard the sound of a horse getting closer.

The townsfolk screamed as several were cut down by massive blades. I watched in horror as a beast of a horse trotted into the town center.

"I found you." The thing on the horse's back hissed

Horseman of Conquest
