Let's begin this adventure of a young chef attempting to accomplish his dreams in a world of magic and monsters! How will his rebirth go and what plans does he have for the unfamiliar fantasy world he is dropped into?

Within a dark void between life and death a single individual was seen collapsed on the ground. He had short messy brown hair, a white cloth was tied around his head. He wore a red shirt and black pants with a pair of worn white sneakers. Tied around his waist was a white apron. The young man began to stir as his green eyes opened and scanned his surroundings.

This young man was Daisuke Kobayashi, an aspiring Chef who moments ago was trapped in an apartment building fire.

Daisuke: Huh? Is this the afterlife? It's a lot more empty than I expected.

Daisuke slowly stood up as he stretched his arms above his head before letting out a sigh and looking around the strange empty void he found himself in.

Daisuke: I guess I didn't qualify for Heaven, if I did I'd be in a kitchen right now.....

Daisuke let out a defeated sigh as he scratched the back of his head. That was just his luck, this was probably purgatory since he failed to accomplish much in his life.

????: You're awake, good we have much to discuss.

Daisuke's ears perked up as he quickly looked around for the source of the female voice. A light suddenly shined in the dark void as a woman with white hair and purple eyes in an ornate dress appeared sitting on a white marble throne.

Daisuke: So are you the Grim Reaper? You here to guide me to the afterlife?

The woman on the throne giggled at Daisuke's question before shaking her head no.

????: I am not the Grim Reaper young man, my name is Eris, the Goddess of Luck that resides over a world parallel to your own.

Daisuke contemplated Eris's words for a moment before letting out a sigh.

Daisuke: Great, I wasn't even good enough to make into my world's afterlife.

Eris: Oh no! That's not why you're here! I have brought you here to offer you a second chance at life! The world I watch over, it is plagued by a great evil the Devil King. The monsters of the land grow stronger due to his presence and the people live in fear, many choosing to go to Heaven rather than be reborn into a world plagued by that wretched king. I give you the chance to be reborn into this world. You can become an Adventurer and help save an entire world for peril!

Daisuke: Not interested......

Eris's entire body turned pure white as cracks appeared all over her body, a blank stare on her face. No one had ever shot her down that fast.

Eris: B-But why?! This is a chance to do something great with your life! Don't you want to be remembered for all eternity as a hero?!

Daisuke: Not really, the Hero lifestyle doesn't really suit me. I had a dream that I wanted to accomplish more than anything in the world. Being a hero kind of goes against that, so just send me on my way to the afterlife.

A nervous expression spread across Eris's face, she couldn't let Daisuke walk away from this, her world needed all the help it could get at this point.

Eris: Please reconsider, people are scared and a brave hero would put their minds at ease! You could be a ray of hope for so many who are suffering!

Daisuke: Believe me it's terrible they have to go through that, but I'm not some brave warrior. I'm just your average young adult, if I tried this hero business I would probably just end up back here in a week.

Eris hung her head, she wasn't getting through to Daisuke at all. However the Goddess of Luck wasn't ready to give up just yet.

Eris: If you reincarnate I will grant you one wish to help you on your journey! It can be anything you desire!

Daisuke paused at Eris's words as he began to contemplate the offer.

Daisuke: Are there a lot of restaurants in this other world?

Eris shot Daisuke a confused look as that was not a question she was expecting.

Eris: No, restaurants are a rarity and tend to be a luxury only Nobility can afford to partake in, why do you ask?

A smile spread across Daisuke's face, now he was interested in this rebirth business.

Daisuke: Back in my world I was an aspiring Chef, my dream was to open a restaurant that would become famous. So here's my request Luck Goddess. I wish to be a warrior that uses parts of the monsters he slays to create unique and never before seen dishes. I want to open a restaurant where anyone can sit down and enjoy a nice meal!

Eris's eyes widened in surprise as that was certainly the most unique request she had ever received from a person since she took over Aqua's duties.

Eris: So you wish for me to grant you a Special Class? It's certainly more unique than the standard powerful weapon or skill most tend to ask for. However I'm skeptical a Combat Cook could be of much use. Care to prove that your skills are worthy of such a request?

Eris waved her hand as a kitchen setup appeared behind Daisuke, complete with a fridge and stove. Daisuke smiled at the sight of the kitchen setup before he grabbed the white cloth around his head before pulling it tight.

Daisuke: Challenge accepted Luck Goddess, any requests?

Eris: Make whatever you desire the fridge will supply you with any ingredients you require.

A smirk spread across Daisuke's face, he didn't need time to decide what he would make. A classic from Osaka never failed to impress in his experience. Daisuke quickly went over to the fridge before opening it and thinking of the exact ingredients he needed. Daisuke pulled out Dashi Stock, all-purpose flour, baking powder, two eggs, salt, and soy sauce. Daisuke measured out 120 grams of flour before dumping it into the bowl. He then added two teaspoons of baking powder to the flour before measuring out half a teaspoon of salt that he added to the bowl as well. Daisuke grabbed a whisk before quickly mixing all of the dry ingredients together.

Eris: Are you baking a cake? I didn't expect to be sitting here for a few hours.

Daisuke smirked at Eris's teasing before he cracked the two eggs and added them to the dry ingredient mixture. Daisuke then measured out a tablespoon of soy sauce that was then added to the bowl as well. Finally Daisuke added one and a half cups of Dashi Broth to the bowl before he whisked it all together into a batter similar to that of pancakes. Daisuke then quickly gathered Octopus, Bonito Flakes, Red Pickled Ginger, Scallions, and Tenkasu. Daisuke sliced the octopus into bite sized wedges before slicing the scallions, then roughly chopped the red pickled ginger. Finally he ground the bonito flakes into a powder before placing each of these ingredients into their own small bowl.

Eris: Octopus? I've never had that before, seems you're being daring today. If I don't like it I might smite you.

Daisuke trust the process Luck Goddess, this dish is a staple from where I'm from!

Daisuke returned to the drawers before pulling out a strange pan that had half sphere indents in it before setting it on top of the burner of the stove. Daisuke also grabbed a squirt bottle of oil and two metal needle utensils. Daisuke set up the station before turning on the burners the pan rested atop. While it heated Daisuke grabbed the batter and ingredients before returning to the stove. Daisuke took the squirt bottle of oil before quickly drizzling oil all across the pan getting a generous amount into each indent. Daisuke quickly grabbed the batter before pouring it into the indents on the pant, filling each about half way. As the batter sizzled, Daisuke dropped a wedge into each batter before pouring a little more on top. Daisuke then took a handful of the red pickled ginger, scallions, bonito flake powder, and tenkasu before sprinkling it into each indent.

Eris: it's like it's instinct to him....

Eris watched as Daisuke's body moved as if this was all instinct, as if this process was as simple as breathing to him. Daisuke then took the metal needles before spinning the half formed object and turning it ninety degrees. After each one was turned he poured the last of the batter into the empty half of the indents. Daisuke quickly set to tucking and folding each little sphere, each one taking on a more perfectly rounded shape as he did. Eventually each of the spheres took on a perfectly rounded golden brown appearance as Daisuke grabbed a plate shaped like a boat before swiftly stabbing up each ball and placing them inside the plate. Daisuke the grabbed a bottle of Japanese mayonnaise and a bottle of a dark brown sauce before coating the tops of the little spheres in the sauce and mayo. Finally Daisuke grabbed a pair of chopsticks before walking up to Eris and presenting her the dish.

Eris: I've never seen this food before, what exactly is it?

Eris gently took the plate from Daisuke as she looked the food over.

Daisuke: It's call Takoyaki or Octopus Dumplings. They are popular street food from where I'm from.

Eris: You decided to feed a Goddess Street Food?

Eris shot Daisuke a confused look as she expected he would serve her something extravagant.

Daisuke: If I can't impress you with simple street food, then I don't think I can call myself a chef!

Eris looked at Daisuke, surprised that he believed the best way to impress her was to give her something basic. Eris looked at the Takoyaki before picking up one with the chopsticks and popping it in her mouth. When Eris bit down on the Takoyaki, her tastebuds were immediately flooded with a sweet and sour flavor, complimented by a freshness from the scallions. The tenkasu added a richness and the mayo and Takoyaki sauce added another layer of flavor.

Daisuke: So how is it? All criticism is welcome. It's the best way to improve as a chef.

Eris quickly began eating the rest of the dish, finishing it in a matter of minutes before smiling at Daisuke with stars in her eyes.

Eris: It was wonderful! Okay you've convinced me, I will grant your wish, you will have the Class of Combat Cook. This will let you create food from any ingredients you receive from monsters. If you don't mind me asking, what are your plans with this power?

Daisuke smirked, this was his big chance and he wasn't about to waste it.

Daisuke: I plan on crafting a menu of dishes using the various ingredients I can salvage from the monsters of this world. Once I make enough money I'll open a restaurant that will serve those dishes to anyone. It might not help defeat the Devil King, but I think a nice warm meal could also boost people's morale.

Eris smiled, after the dish she was served, she could only imagine what Daisuke could pull off with an entire menu of new ingredients.

Eris: Very well, I will reincarnate you now. Since this Class is unique to you I will even supply you with some starting equipment. Consider it a thank you for the wonderful meal.

Daisuke: I appreciate it Luck Goddess.

A portal then opened behind Daisuke as he was sucked into it, his clothes shining brightly as they began to change as he disappeared into the portal. Eris watched Daisuke go with an excited smile on her face.

Eris: I might have to make a few trips as Chris once he's gotten a few recipes developed.

Eris was excited, she could only imagine what dishes Daisuke would create with ingredients that don't exist in his world.

Axel
Within a world of magic and monsters sat a large city surrounded by a wall.

This was Axel, the city where most reincarnated individuals start their journey in this unfamiliar world. Within the streets of this bustling city stood Daisuke, looking around in confusion.

Daisuke: Where am I? I probably should've asked Eris where she would be dropping me before I let her send me on my way.

Daisuke groaned as that was a massive oversight on his part. However he was pulled from his thoughts by a tug on his pant leg. Daisuke looked down to see a child looking up at him with curiosity present in their eyes.

Child: Mr., why are you wearing a bunch of pans on you?

Daisuke cocked his head to the side in confusion as he looked over at a window only to see his outfit had completely changed. He was dressed in traditional Japanese chef robes, on his head was a Wok, hanging from his waist was a Chef's Knife and assortment of pans. Around his neck was a necklace of empty spice bottles, finally strapped to his back was an empty wooden barrel. Strapped to his back was what he assumed was a spear-like weapon.

Daisuke: I guess this was the equipment she was talking about.....

Child: Is something wrong Mr.?

Daisuke quickly turned his attention back towards the child before letting a smile spread across his face.

Daisuke: I'm a traveling chef. I carry my tools like this to avoid lugging around a heavy bag.

The child giggled at Daisuke's explanation before nodding their head in understanding.

Child: That's silly, but I guess it makes sense. Have a nice day Mr.!

The child ran off down the street as Daisuke waved goodbye to them. His thoughts then turned towards the city around him, he would need to figure out his first move if he wanted to start working towards his ultimate goal.

????: Well, well looks like we have another soul reincarnated into our world. Need a hand finding your way around stranger?

Daisuke turned towards the feminine voice only to find a blonde hair girl in blue priestess robes standing before her.

Daisuke: Yeah, how did you know?

????: A servant of a Goddess can recognize these things, even if you were brought here by that irritating Luck Goddess.

Daisuke noticed the girl's expression morph into a scowl rather quickly when she mentioned Eris. However the smile quickly returned a smile.

????: Where are my manners? My name is Cecily, a Priest of the Axis Order. The followers of the Goddess Aqua! I approached you with an offer. You are an Adventurer yes? Join the Axis Order, together we can prove that the Goddess Aqua is superior to that Luck Goddess! You may lack experience, but all help is good!

Daisuke: Not interested.....

Cecily immediately face planted onto the ground in disbelief at being shot down without Daisuke taking a moment to consider her offer.

Cecily: W-Why not?! Don't you aspire to defeat the Devil King?! Why not have the blessing of a Goddess help you achieve that?!

Daisuke: Listen Cecily, I have no interest in fighting the Devil King. My plans are to start fighting monsters to gather ingredients. Once I do that I can start crafting my menu. Once that's complete I can work towards opening my own restaurant.

Cecily stood back up, looking at Daisuke in surprise, she never would've guessed someone would reincarnate to open a restaurant of all things.

Cecily: A restaurant? You wish to fight monsters to turn them into food? Isn't that risky? Especially on your own?

Daisuke: Back in my world I aspired to be a Chef, but I could never manage to achieve that goal. This second chance in this world is my big opportunity, so I will take that chance even if it's risky!

Cecily saw the determination in Daisuke's eyes and groaned before turning away from him ready to walk off and leave this weirdo to his ambitions. However a thought occurred to Cecily that caused her to stop dead in her tracks.

Cecily's Thoughts: Wait, if he's a Chef that means if I party with him I get free food.

The gears began to turn in Cecily's head as she started to see the value of Daisuke's goal.

Cecily's Thoughts: That means I can save up my money for alcohol and restoring the Axis Cathedral. Plus if this restaurant of his gets famous, I could easily use it as a place to swindle people into joining the Axis Order!

A devious smile spread across Cecily's face, Daisuke could just be her ticket to proving the Axis Order is superior to the Eris Order. Cecily quickly whipped around and gave Daisuke a sickly sweet smile.

Cecily: Such a noble desire! Wishing to feed the people of this world! However the best way to make Eris, our world's currency and fight monsters is to become an Adventurer. Solo Adventuring is rather dangerous though, I wouldn't recommend it.

Daisuke: Not like I got much of a choice, it's fine I'll just have to be careful.

Cecily smirked, this was her big chance!

Cecily: Well I just happen to be the most beautiful and skilled Priest of the Axis Order. My skills with Healing Magic are second to none! I would be willing to form a party with you. With my help any injuries will be a nonissue. What do you say?

Cecily offered her hand to Daisuke who looked at it before letting out a sigh. Daisuke took Cecily's hand before shaking it.

Daisuke: It's better than going in alone, pleasure to be working with you Cecily.

Cecily: Oh come now the pleasure is all mine! Now let me lead you to the Adventurer's Guild!

Cecily ended the handshake before turning away from Daisuke to begin leading him towards the Guild. A victorious smile spread across Cecily's face as this was already going according to her plan. Cecily and Daisuke walked off towards the Adventurer Guild.

Adventurer Guild
After twenty minutes of walking, Daisuke and Cecily found themselves standing in front of a large building that had dozens of people with weapons and armor walking in and out of it.

This was Axel's Adventurer Guild, the place where all Adventurers took requests to make money.

Cecily: Here we are! Now we just need to get you registered, you'll receive an Adventurer's card that will track your Progress and let you pick new skills as you level up!

Daisuke: Just like a Video Game.....

Daisuke followed Cecily as they entered the Adventurer Guild and immediately walked up to the front desk. There they found a man in a suit with a star on it.

Guild Attendant 1: Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild, I assume you are a new to our organization yes?

Daisuke: That's right, I would like to register myself as an Adventurer sir.

The Attendant smiled at Daisuke before stepping out from behind the front desk.

Guild Attendant 1: Please follow me, will shall get you setup with an Adventurer Card.

Daisuke followed the Attendant to a large crystal held up on a stand.

Guild Attendant 1: This is the Card Crystal, please place your hand upon it and it shall generate your Adventurer Card. Please hold this as you do so.

The Attendant handed Daisuke a blank card before Daisuke placed his hand over the crystal as it shined. The card began to magically fill itself out, a side profile drawing of Daisuke appeared a crossed fork and knife emblazoned in the side of his Wok hat in the drawing. The Attendant took the card from Daisuke.

Guild Attendant 1: Now then, this card will keep track of the monsters you killed and allow you to track your progress and acquire skills from the skill tree. Let's see what you are working with.

The Attendant looked at Daisuke's card and his eyes widened in surprise.

Guild Attendant 1: My this is a first, you appear to have a never before seen Class, Combat Cook. This class seems to favor spears by what your stats show, however the most baffling part is that despite only being Level 1, you have two unique skills.

Cecily's eyes widened in shock at the Guild Attendant's words, she hadn't expected Daisuke to have a never before seen Class. However she had an idea of where he got it from.

Cecily: That was your one request to the Luck Goddess wasn't it?

Daisuke: Yes, I figured it would be the most useful thing to ask for.

The Attendant handed the card back to Daisuke before smiling at him.

Guild Attendant 1: Welcome to the Adventurer Guild! I look forward to seeing what you achieve. Now we can get you setup with some basic training and you should be able to start taking Quests in a week!

Daisuke nodded before he turned to look at Cecily.

Daisuke: So what now?

Cecily: We should get you used to Axel before we worry about taking Quests. Come on, I'll show you around. Since you're a party member of mine, you can stay at the Axis Cathedral for free!

Daisuke nodded before he let Cecily lead him out of the Guild so they could begin exploring Axel. Daisuke let a smile spread across his face, this was the start of his new life and he intended on accomplishing his dream this time around.

So Daisuke has arrived in the City of Axel! Originally his meeting with Eris wasn't supposed to be as long as it was. However I thought it would be important to show off Daisuke's cooking abilities as they are a major aspect of his character. Moving forward I plan on writing out the cooking process for all his dishes. However if some of you think it's too long I can try and shorten it.
