The Last Leg! A Final Act of Desperation!
As I dove after, I watched Sakura focus her chakra. Having Sasuke under one arm, she hit her feet to the cliff edge along with her free hand. She managed to stop the fall but she struggled to keep hold.
The cliff she was holding onto broke off and she let out a short scream. However I nose dived downwards and caught the two before landing on a little ledge. "Miyu!" Sakura shouted in surprise.
I smiled at her and looked up. Naruto. I need to get to him. Turning my gaze upwards. I could hear Naruto shouting Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu. I need to get up there. "Sakura, I have a plan. But I need you to help."
Her eyes widened in surprise but soon her green eyes held determination.
~
I had managed to get up without him noticing and watched as Naruto formed Rasengan again. This would be his fourth. "This is bordering on ridiculous. I've always hated people when they didn't know when to quit." Aoi spat, still unaware of me in the trees.
I need to wait. Patient. If this plan goes well, it should end with Naruto's final Rasengan. Two of Naruto clones rushed at him but he swiped, destroying them. Stones were thrown but he dodged and I stared in wonder. Idate . . .
Idate stood, staring intently at Aoi. "That's enough heroism for one day don't you think. Idate!" NOW!
Chains erupted from my back and wrapped around him. "What?!" Sakura then jumped from the brush and threw a flash bomb, blinding Aoi. "Now Naruto!" Sakura shouted.
Naruto blinked in shock but grinned and rushed. Keeping my chains wrapped, but purposely letting his arm with the sword loose, he lifted the sword to block. Sakura ran to the edge, ready.
Naruto struck the crack that Sasuke and I had made and we watched as Rasengan broke through it. I moved the chains back to my body as Aoi was spun away over the cliff. Sakura looked down, three kunai in hand.
She waited patiently before throwing them down, destroying the area around him with the paper bombs attatched so if he survived, he'd be trapped.
"Yes!" Sakura cheered. I sighed and jumped down next to her. "Miyu, Sakura! You're okay! Wait, where's Sasuke?" Naruto asked. I nodded to the edge. "He's on a ledge. He's fine just out cold." Sakura nodded and motioned to the other side. "You guys go on ahead. Miyu and I will get Sasuke and follow after."
I glanced at Idate and smiled. "Now then, go win a race for us, kay." He returned the smile and nodded. Alright then. I wrapped my arm around Sakura's waist and hoped down to the edge where Sasuke was.
Sasuke, he is going to be upset to hear that Naruto defeated Aoi, and not him. But if it wasn't for his Chidori, it would have proven difficulty.
However Naruto only grows stronger and stronger. "Yahoo!" The cheers of Idate and Naruto was heard. Hm? Glancing up I saw the two idiots swinging across the area. Naruto channeled chakra to his feet and ran up, Idate in hand and they took off, back into the race.
Sighing I looked at Sakura, a smile on my face. "This might sting a little." I picked up Sasuke under my arm and wrapped my arm around Sakura before Flash Stepping to Naruto.
"Wha! Miyu!" He shouted in embarrassment. Idate had already ran in front of him. Releasing Sakura, I maneuvered Sasuke so he rested on my back.
After a bit we neared the shrine. The three of us jumped up onto one of the posts and watched as Idate catch up with the other competitor. "Keep going! IDATE!" Naruto shouted. "Come on, you can do it! RUN IDATE!" I cheered.
Sakura grinned as Idate took the lead and broke through the white finish line tape. The crowd went wild, thankful that he had won.
Way to go Idate.
"Come on guys, lets go!" Naruto shouted, jumping down and headed towards the shrine. Sakura and I chuckled but followed him none the less. "Urg." Huh? I slowed down and glanced at Sasuke over my shoulder. He's waking up.
Sakura and Naruto were already with the crowd. "Miyu . . ? Where's Aoi?" He asked. I pursed my lips. "Naruto took care of him." I answered honestly. He stiffened.
"Naruto?" He asked to make sure he heard correctly. I nodded. After a moment of silence he slipped off my back but dropped. I quickly slung one of his arms over my shoulder.
I stared at his face to see a mix of emotions. One of the most prominent is shame. Another one is jealousy.
"Come on, let's go congratulate him." I murmured, walking towards them. I'm also a bit amazed by it. Naruto was able to defeat him. Even if Sakura and I hadn't interfered, I'm sure he would have found a way to beat him.
A part of me is saddened by that. That Naruto doesn't need me to protect him, to help him. But that's just how he is. Naruto is quickly climbing up. Faster then me and faster then the Uchiha prodigy.
Does it bother me? Yeah, it really does. I feel useless. But I should be happy that he's growing. It's just a mess of emotions that I feel.
"Miyu, Sasuke!" Sakura waved us to the front of the crowd. Putting on a smile I slipped through the crowd to stand with them.
The two were smiling happy. I guess it's coming to that day. Where I'm no longer needed. Even Sakura managed to grab onto the cliff, and with Sasuke.
Shaking my head of those thoughts, I watched the scene in front of me. "The winner! Idate Morino! Representing the Wasabi family!" The crowd cheered. "YAAY!" Sakura giggled as she continued to cheer.
I smiled at her. She really is stepping up to become a better ninja. She's already ahead of me in medical Ninjutsu. I'm proud.
"Hold on, that's enough." Huh? A man with two men flanking him walked up to them. What's going on? "It seems this kid rode on the back of a hired ninja for part of the way." I grit my teeth as he showed a photo of Idate on Naruto's back.
Shit. "That's a violation. I have proof here. They have to make it here on their own strength. Those are the rules of this race. The boy must be disqualified." Tch.
My hand twitched as it neared my kunai pouch. "Miyu!" Sakura hissed, seeing my action. I frowned. "What? If I kill the other family then there won't be anymore squabbling." I defended.
She gave me a scolding look, making me sigh. "Fine. I won't kill him." I grumbled. She nodded in approval and turned her attention back to the scene.
"Which means Fukusuke Hikyakuya of the Wagarashi family is the winner." The head of the Wagarashi claimed, a sick smile on his face. Annoying old man. "What? It can't be." Jirocho voiced. "Wait a minute, that was-" Idate was interrupted by the old man.
"I'll hear none of your excuses. Jirocho you gave your word. I want the Wasabi family to disband immediately." Why this son of a- "Are you sure I can't kill him?"
This time both Sakura and Naruto gave me a look and I held my hand up in defense. Okay, no killing. "Just a moment." A new voice spoke.
A shorter, chubbier, man walked over. "There is no such rule, stop talking nonsense." I smirked. Way to go. "But my lord." Wagarashi started to protest. "But what? Are you suggesting I let the Wagarashi win, simply because you wish it?"
I snickered as Wagarashi struggled over his words. "Perhaps the reason you want to win so badly is that it would mean an end to all the bribes you've been accepting." The lord revealed a photo of slimy Wagarashi accepting money.
Oh? I smirked along with my friends. "You ignoramus. You'll give up your position." He demanded. Wagarashi bowed, some tears in his eyes. "Yes sir."
Heh. "And you Kyuroku. I've heard a great deal about the evil deeds you have committed. Your crimes against the people of Port Dagarashi are unforgivable. From this day forth, the Wagarashi family is no more. Is that clear?"
This one started to cry as well and he bowed his head. "Yes sir." I smirked and glanced at my team. "Something about a twisted grown man crying leaves a sweet taste." They sweat dropped at that. "Miyu, I think we need to talk about your anger issues." Sakura said.
I frowned a bit. "The only issue I have is that the people are stupid." I grumbled. I don't have anger issues.
The lord laughed. "An auspicious day. Now let us consider this matter ended." The crowd roared in joy. Well, looks like our job here is done. And since there's no Wagarashi family to compete with, there will be no more races like this here at Port Dagarashi. I say it's a win with an extra bonus.
~
The sun was starting to lower and we were at the port. Sasuke had passed out again during the ceremony and was currently on a stretcher as a boat stopped in front of us. Idate was currently thanking Naruto when footsteps were heard.
A man stood as the steps were lowered. "Ghek. Ibiki the Sadist." Idate looked at me curiously for the name I had given his brother. Well I didn't give it to him. But it was completely accurate. "I've come to get the wounded." He announced.
"Ibiki-Sensei!" Sakura was surprised.
"Big brother!" Idate exclaimed.
"Ibiki the Sadist!"
Sakura elbowed me roughly. "Ow! What?! That's what he's known as." I defended. She gave me a scolding look to which I merely rolled my eyes. "Where is the wounded?" He asked, ignoring us.
Naruto pointed to Sasuke. "He's right there! Oh, and Miyu's injured too!" He pushed me in front a bit. I shot him a look. Only some burns here and there and small puncture wounds. Senbon needles are hardly lethal unless you're Haku.
"Okay, get them on the boat then." Naruto nodded and grabbed my uninjured arm, leading me up. "But I'm fine." I whined. However he didn't hear it as the men loaded Sasuke onto the ship as well.
Sighing I allowed him to drag me further onto the boat. My arm and torso were immediately wrapped in bandages.
Soon the ship began to depart and the people bid us farewell. "So long Idate! See you again someday!" Naruto grinned. "Yeah, we'll see you! You take care." Sakura voiced. I smiled down at them. "Don't take crap from no one ya here?"
Idate chuckled but nodded. "You got it! You guys come back any time." I blinked a couple times. "Hey! You, I'm still mad about leaving us with the bill! Next time I come by I expect you to treat me to dinner!" I shouted.
Idate laughed at that. "Sure thing Miyu." Satisfied with his answer I nodded. "Hey boss, take care of yourself okay?" My brother said. Jirocho nodded. "Yeah."
"Don't gamble with Grandma Tsunade! Because when she loses she'll make me play." I grumbled, remembering a couple times she's taken me out of the village just to settle the score.
Ah, Sasuke. I waved one last time and walked over to where he sat, wrapped in bandages. I kneeled down next to him. "Does it still hurt?" I asked. He glanced at me. "Not the wounds." He answered.
Sighing I sat next to him. "I see." Knowing he didn't want a pep talk, I slipped my hand in his and leaned my head on his shoulder.
Sasuke. I know your pride is hurt. So is mine. But you'll get stronger too. After all, we're only Genin.
