The Chunin Exam Stage 2: The Forest of Death!
We were back in front of the forest. Sasuke and my eyes were twitching as Sakura glared at me and Naruto at him. They didn't take the whole dating news well.
"What do you mean dating?" Sakura growled for the twentieth time. Sasuke sighed. "It means we're dating Sakura. Are you two really willing to get your feelings in the way of the exam?" Sasuke asked annoyed.
Sakura looked down ashamed and Naruto just huffed. "You have bad taste in guys Miyu." He grumbled. Jeez. Thanks big bro. So we just waited in silence for Anko.
Sakura said something about the forest of death being creepy and Anko replied with a smirk. Naruto didn't like it so he put his hands on his hips and was wiggling talking in a high pitch girl voice. "They call it the forest of death. And soon enough you're going to find out why." Naruto mocked, failing in his Anko impression.
I sweat dropped. Anko didn't like it either. "You're not going to scare me away with that! Believe it!"
"So looks like we got a tough guy." She then quickly threw a kunai at Naruto who stood. He had no chance of dodging it.
I was fast to react and caught it just as it lightly touched his cheek. Silence filled the lot. I started spinning the kunai around my finger and glared at Anko. "Oh? You throw such a thing at Naruto? That's a little much, don't you think?"
I then flung it back at her and it grazed her cheek before it stuck to the fence. She just smirked at me, amusement clear in her eyes.
I was not amused though. She threw a kunai at my brother. She then disappeared but I could see her. She's fast. I pushed Naruto away and faced Anko as she stood in front of me.
She tilted her head to the side and widened her grin. "I like you." Well good for you. I sure as hell don't like you.
She then laughed while ruffling my hair, making them loose and made my pig tails slip down. The hell? I swatted her hand away.
She just laughed. And pulled out some forms. "Before we begin I have something to hand out to you all. It's just a standard consent form. Before the test all of you are going to have to read over this form and then sign it."
"What for?" Naruto asked.
"Some of you may not come back from this test. And I have to get your consent at the risk. Otherwise that'd be my responsibility." She then laughed again. Isn't it really her responsibility?
I felt and smelt the same chakra from earlier. The one that smells like the hospital and blood. I turned to see a grass ninja looking our way. She creeped me out. I felt like if I were to get to close she'd kill me just because she felt like it.
So I just turned away and faced Anko. "Now I'll be explaining what you'll be doing on this test. Here, pass these back."
She handed Naruto the consent forms. He took one and passed the rest to me and I took one and passed it to Sasuke, so on. "The first thing you need to know that this test taps every one of your survival skills."
Survival skills huh? She showed us the map of it and how we need to get to the center in the locked tower. "The test consists of an anything goes battle."
What the hell is she thinking? I looked at my team worriedly.
"To get your hands on these scrolls." Scrolls? She held two scrolls, one black and one white. "Both of them?" Sasuke asked.
"Yes. You'll be fighting to get both, a Heaven Scroll and an Earth Scroll. All together twenty-six teams will take part in this test. So half of those teams will be going after the Heaven Scroll and the other half will be trying to get the Earth Scroll."
I see. So half of the teams have to lose. "I'll hand over one kind of scroll to each team and that's what you'll be fighting for."
Okay, seems easy enough. "Okay, so how do we pass the test?" Sasuke asked.
"Your entire squad must bring both a Heaven and Earth Scroll to the tower." Sakura seemed to understand the point of it now.
"Oh and one more thing. The test has a time limit. You must finish it within five days." Five days huh? This may be hard.
No it will be. "Five days out there?!" Ino asked. Choji freaked out. "What are we supposed to do for food?!" He shouted. I sweat dropped and fell a little. Oh Choji. Always a fan of food.
"Just look around. The forest is full of things to eat. There's plenty to feed all of you." Kabuto then pointed out that the forest had plenty of man eating beasts and poisonous plants.
Well that's comforting. Choji's not going to do well. Five days. The days will get shorter and we won't be given much time to recover and we won't get much rest with all the enemies around us. It really is a challenge. I doubt even half the teams will pass.
This is a challenge indeed. "This test also measure endurance behind enemy lines. This is designed to be a grueling test. And I'm sure some of you won't be up to the challenge."
Well her faith in us is just as comforting as that forest. "So let's say mid-exam; can we quit?" Shikamaru asked. Of course not Shikamaru! You moron! That giant brain or yours is shutting down.
"There are also some ways you can get disqualified. The first is simple. If all three, or four, members of a team can't make it to the tower without both scrolls after five days. Number two! If the team loses a member or if a member becomes incapacitated and cannot continue. But most importantly, none of you, absolutely none of you, may look at the context of the scroll until you've reached the tower."
So we can't read it? That's not too bad. Apparently it's to test our integrity. Like when one carries an important scroll they can't look at.
After that she told us where to turn in our forms and to each pick a gate. "Oh and a word of advice . . . Just don't die!"
Yes, because I so planned on dying. Smart Anko, real smart.
So we all separated and started signing the forms. I noticed that the teams that turned in their forms the chunin pulled a curtain around to prevent anyone seeing what scroll they get. Well this is going to be a bit tricky.
We won't know what team has which scroll and we don't know who's carrying it. We're going to have to be careful in the forest. We don't want to fight someone with a scroll we don't need.
A matter of life and death. It's not just me and Naruto anymore. I have to look out for Sasuke and Sakura too.
One by one the teams went in for their scrolls. We got a Heaven Scroll. So we'll need an Earth Scroll. Now, what is the best way to win? "Listen up! All the teams have their scrolls so everybody go to your gate and wait! When the gates open the test is on!"
We left to our gate and waited. I watched Naruto started punching the air. Well then. I see how it is. He's excited. And that makes me worried.
And we'll be targeted because we're rookies. When the lock came off and the doors open we walked in before we started running.
We made it to a little clearing and decided to discuss things there.
Screams filled the forest. So it's begun. "That sounded like someone screaming." Sakura said. Yeah, it was. "I do not like this place." She continued.
Neither do I. "Oh come on. It's nothing to be scared of. It's going to be a piece of cake. Excuse me a second. I really got to-you know." He turned to a tree and started unzipping his pants.
Sasuke slapped his hand over my eyes and I could hear Sakura's hit. "Yeah right! Get out of here, what is this, a kennel?! Not in front of me you don't! Find a bush or something."
I pried Sasuke's hand off me. "You know he's my brother right? It doesn't bother me much." I stated as Naruto ran behind the tree line and out of sight.
I'm not sure I like him splitting away from us. Naruto came back but his chakra smelt weird. And he seemed off too. I narrowed my eyes on him. His scratch is gone and his weapon pouch is on the wrong leg. I know my brother, and he's not him.
"Ah man that was a lot. I wrote my whole name." The imposter spoke.
"You are such a pig! You're really disgusting sometimes you know that?!" Sasuke had hit the imposter and he hit a tree. "Sasuke, it wasn't that bad. Don't you think you're going a little overboard?" Sakura asked.
I shook my head at her nativity. "That's not my brother." I said. Her eyes widened as she looked over at the imposter.
The imposter wiped his mouth. Then Sasuke went after him and they jumped around a bit. "Where's my brother you faker?!" I demanded. The imposter smirked before poofing into a rain ninja with a white jumpsuit.
"Alright you got me. So what? I'm still going to take your scroll so hand it over or else." I glared at him.
He merely smirked and held his kunai up more. Sakura and I pulled out kunai's and Sasuke held the one already in his grip higher.
"So, which one of you has it?" We didn't answer. I'd never tell this guy. "Hm. Fine then. I guess I'll just have to take you all out!" he then rushed us.
